Brooke: (Sighs) Ridge, please.

Ridge: Stay or go?

Nick: Don't push her, Forrester.

Ridge: She'll make her decision.

Nick: Well, she hasn't left yet.

Ridge: But we are going, right?

Nick: I think you might be wrong.

Ridge: No, Nick, you're wrong. You were wrong to take that baby away from Taylor. You were wrong to think that Brooke was gonna take over as mother. This whole situation has pretty much gotten out of control pretty much because you won't let Brooke go. Well, now you will, because you're gonna have to. Maybe you missed the memo. Brooke's gonna be my wife. Her future's with me and the beautiful little boy that we share as a family.

Nick: Well, now that we've all been riveted with your side of the story, why don't you shut up and let her speak for herself.

(Knock on door)

Katie: Bridget? Hey.

Bridget: Oh, hey, Katie.

Katie: Um, I knocked, but, um, maybe you didn't hear me.

Bridget: It's okay. You can come on in.

Katie: It's a beautiful blanket.

Bridget: It was Nicole's. I-I knit-I knitted it for her.

Katie: I can't imagine how hard it must be to lose a child.

Bridget: I guess you heard today that Taylor lost custody of Jack, huh? It was just-- it was--it was really hard watching them, and it was terrible... seeing Taylor and Nick in that courtroom. It just made me think of my-- of my baby girl. She didn't ever get a chance to have a life. Of course, it made me think of Nick and everything that we had together and everything we lost when we lost our daughter and-- (sniffles) and I-I just feel for Nick. He's alone in that big house with Jack.

Katie: Maybe it's not lost. Maybe it's just been misplaced.

Bridget: What do you-- what do you mean?

Katie: Go to him.

Bridget: Oh, Katie.

Katie: No, be there for him and his son. Let him know he's not alone.

Taylor: Okay, that's it. I've truly lost it. I've gone crazy.

Rick: (Laughs) y-you're definitely not crazy.

Taylor: Oh, no, I've gone round the bend. Wh-what did I just do to you?

Rick: Oh, did you-- did you forget already? I mean, I can--I can remind you and show you right here.

Taylor: My God, what's happening to me? What is happening to me?

Rick: Why is it so unbelievable to you?

Taylor: Just a minute ago, all I wanted to do was be comforted by that bottle. Now all I want to do is be comforted by you-- my enemy's son. (Exhales deeply)

Rick: (Sighs)

Taylor: Rick, you've gotta admit, this is pretty bizarre. I mean, I've dealt with your mother as a rival most of my adult life. I-I despise everything about her. And now it's her son that's making me feel better?

Rick: Well, I don't think that's bizarre at all.

Taylor: (Scoffs)

Rick: I mean, think about it. You're in a better place now than you were when I-- when I first walked in, right?

Taylor: It's true, I am.

Rick: Yeah. See, Taylor, you need to allow yourself to be taken care of. Somebody needs to take care of you for a change. So can--can you promise me something? Will you call me on m-on my cell phone every time you feel an urge to--to drink again? I'll tell you what...

Taylor: What are you doing?

Rick: I am entering my cell phone number into your phone. Do you have anybody on--on speed dial?

Taylor: No, I don't.

Rick: Well, you do now. There we go. See, that's me. I'm number one. You just--you push and hold. (Chuckles)

Taylor: Number one?

Rick: You got it. (Door opens)

Phoebe: Hey, Mom. Rick, what--what are you doing here?

Nick: You just can't do it, can ya, Forrester? You just can't stuff that big fat ego of yours away long enough to let her make her own decisions.

Ridge: You had it all, Nick-- a wonderful wife in Taylor, the son you've always wanted. But it just wasn't enough for you, was it?

Brooke: (Sighs) Ridge.

Ridge: You had to keep luring Brooke back in, dangling Jack in front of her.

Nick: Well, obviously, you think you got something to worry about, or you wouldn't be here demanding that she leave with you. It's like you think you own this woman.

Ridge: Oh, I don't. And neither do you. You created a lot of tension. Good for you for that. But we'll get past that. You see, Brooke and I are gonna have the future we always dreamed about. And where's that gonna leave you, Nick, hmm? No Brooke, no Taylor. I'd say that leaves you alone.

Ridge: Come on, Logan, let's get going.

Nick: I guess I'll see ya, kid.

Ridge: Come on, Logan.

(Door closes)

Rick: Phoebe, hi.

Phoebe: Hi. I just--I'm surprised to find you here.

Rick: I-I was just making sure your mom was okay. It's been a--been a tough day.

Phoebe: Thank you. That's actually why I've come, too. Mom, I-I still can't believe everything that's happened. How--how did it go when Nick picked Jack up?

Taylor: It was one of the hardest things I've ever had to do, but, um, I'm pulling myself together, and I'm going back to work soon, and I'll rebuild my life.

Rick: And you're gonna do that.

Taylor: Yes, I can, and I will, because I have you two supporting me.

Phoebe: You're incredible. You really are.

Rick: I think so, too. (Chuckles)

Phoebe: Rick, thank you for coming to my mom's defense when you didn't have to. I mean, you're a blessing.

Rick: It's my pleasure, really.

Taylor: Okay, now about your midterms.

Phoebe: Yes, okay, I'm--I'm--I'm going. I have an early trig class tomorrow anyway. I just--promise me that you'll call me if you need anything. I can be here in, like, ten minutes.

Taylor: I will. I promise. Just go study. Go, go.

Phoebe: Okay. I love you.

Taylor: Okay.

Phoebe: Bye.

Taylor: That is the reminder I needed.

Rick: What--what reminder are you talking about?

Taylor: Us, us, about us, that it--it can't happen. (Scoffs) whatever I just did, I-I-I know you and Phoebe aren't together anymore, but it--it would really freak her out if she knew what I just did to you.

Rick: Taylor, you kissed me. That's all it was.

Taylor: Yeah, I know, and it can't happen again. I-I-I don't want to do anything to upset my relationship with--with Phoebe. I've already lost one child. I don't want to lose another one.

(Knock on door)

Nick: Hi.

Bridget: Hey. I thought you could use a friend.

Nick: (Laughs) You always do have a sixth sense when it comes to me, don't you? Come on in.

Bridget: I knew you were home alone tonight with Jack, so I thought I would just offer up my services. You know, I can clean or change diapers or be a shoulder for someone to rest on-- you or Jack. And if you remember, I actually make a pretty good plate of scrambled eggs.

Nick: I remember. You're an angel. What would I do without you?

Bridget: I'm beginning to wonder that myself.

Nick: (Scoffs) Your mother came by.

Bridget: Yeah, and...?

Nick: The dressmaker showed up and drug her out.

Bridget: Well, that doesn't surprise me. I saw Ridge earlier and told him that the judge ruled against Taylor at the hearing today and gave you full custody of Jack.

Nick: I think I'm still processing all of this. It's a lot in one day.

Bridget: I can't imagine.

Nick: It's funny, isn't it, Bridget, how your life can just change on a dime?

Bridget: It sure is.

Brooke: You're going to have to speak to me at some point.

Ridge: Look, Logan, I'm upset.

Brooke: Obviously.

Ridge: Did I really have to go to Nick's to track you down?

Brooke: Please, try and understand.

Ridge: I've been more than understanding.

Brooke: This isn't about Nick. This is about Jack. It was a very important day in his life. Now I don't mean to upset you, but I needed to be there. I can't deny my concern for Jack.

Ridge: I realize that. Your love and concern for Nick and Taylor's baby has been a primary thing in our lives the last while.

Brooke: Well, let's talk about it.

Ridge: I don't want to discuss the baby anymore. I'm all talked out about Jack. What we need to talk about is us--you and me, our future... if we still have one.

[ Microwave beeping ]

Taylor: No. (Scoffs)

Rick: Taylor, listen to me. I would never in a million years do anything to deliberately hurt Phoebe, okay? I do think that you're overreacting just--just a little bit.

Taylor: Hmm, no, no, I don't. I-I'm not mad at you. I'm not. You've been nothing but wonderful. You've been here right before I had a meltdown. I mean, I'm grateful to you. I-and I-I connected with you on a--on a very deep level, but it is complicated, and I think we both know that--that it can't happen again.

Rick: No, I know. Look, look, I'm not-- I'm not trying to complicate things, all right? I'm just here as your friend. And I'm here to help you through this. But I meant what I said before. If you're ever feeling vulnerable or sad, or if you feel an urge to--to drink again, you call me, and I'll come running, okay?

Taylor: Okay.

Rick: (Laughs)

Taylor: I will. I promise.

Rick: Good. (Laughs)

Nick: Let me see if I got this right. Two scoops of hot chocolate, half hot water, half warm milk?

Bridget: Very good memory.

Nick: Aha.

Bridget: Thank you.

Nick: You're welcome.

Bridget: You know, Nick, you could look at this as a whole new beginning.

Nick: Well, it certainly isn't how I envisioned it. It's not what I wanted for Jack-- being raised by a single parent. You know, a child should have two parents in the house. It's gonna be hard for him.

Bridget: You're being hard on yourself.

Nick: I just want what's best for my son.

Bridget: And you will give him what's best-- you.

Bridget: You know what? I-I remember the first time I met you-- that guy that was on-- on the boat with the beard and the hair blowing in the wind...

Nick: (Chuckles)

Bridget: Cigar in one hand and a beer in the other. And look at you now. I mean, look at you. You have the son that you've always dreamed of. You've got everything now.

Nick: Well, you know that guy that you're talking about that was on the boat? One thing for sure-- he was happy.

Bridget: No, he wasn't. He thought he was, but in reality, he--he wanted everything that you have now-- a son. He wanted a son and a family of his own and a house to call home. You've got everything now, Nick. All you need is someone to share it with.

(Dog barking)

Brooke: What are you talking about-- if we have a future together? Of course we do.

Ridge: Do we?

Brooke: Unless you've had a change of heart. Have you?

Ridge: About you, Logan? Never.

Brooke: Well, then how can you question what we have?

Ridge: How can I not? You're sending Nick mixed signals. You're getting involved in a life, in a family where you don't belong.

Brooke: I'm Jack's biological mother. I do belong.

Ridge: No, you don't, Brooke. Taylor is Jack's mother.

Ridge: I drew a line in the sand in the beginning, not because I'm insecure about your love for me, but because I am trying to save and protect our family.

Brooke: So am I.

Ridge: Really? It just doesn't seem that way to me. Brooke, I need to know that I have all of you. Hope and R.J. need all of you. But if you continue the way you're going-- running to Nick at his every beck and call-- you're gonna lose me. Do you want to lose me? Do you want to lose our family, the life that we're planning? Is it really worth losing everything that we've ever dreamed about?

Ridge: We talked about marriage. We talked about a life together. It's been a love that's--that's molded and shaped both of us, a love affair so amazing that no one and nothing can--can compare to it. (Sighs heavily) it's the reason I left Ashley-- because I knew you felt the same way. We have always been, we always will be each other's destiny, Brooke.

Brooke: Ridge, I do love you so deeply.

Ridge: I don't question that. What I question is our future together, because you're torn, Brooke. Your emotions are all over the place, and you cannot make a commitment in that frame of mind. You can't. And I can't go on like this. Everything we ever dreamed about, Brooke, is within our grasp right now. It's all right here in front of us. Are you gonna reach out and grab it, Brooke? Are you gonna grab that dream that we've wanted so much? You have to decide. Do you want that happily ever after with Hope and R.J., or do you want Nick and Jack? I'm gonna say this again, and I'm only gonna say it one more time. If it happens to be me, you're gonna have to cut Nick and Jack out of your life completely. That's the deal. That's the deal, Brooke, nonnegotiable.

Ridge: It's the moment of truth, Logan. What's it gonna be?
