Storm: (Scoffs) I still can't believe it.
Brooke: Dad loves you. He always has.
Storm: Yeah, even after setting him up for shooting Stephanie.
Katie: You weren't yourself.
Storm: Yeah, you know, it's still amazing to me that he took responsibility for everything-- what his leaving did to me, how I felt when he came back and tried to take over the family again. He just--he got it.
Brooke: But what he's suggesting-- being punished for a crime that you committed.
Katie: Brooke, come on, you'd do it for one of your kids.
Brooke: It doesn't make it right.
Storm: Look, the important thing is is that I now know that Dad loves me and that he's proud of what I've accomplished. (Laughs) I never realized how much it would mean to me to hear those words from him. And now I have to live up to them.
Ridge: Oh, let me help you. Let me help you.
Stephanie: Thank you. Thank you.
Ridge: Is this what you're moaning about? You wanted to cancel Christmas because of a few scraps of paper?
Stephanie: Well, I think Eric enjoyed the day as much as anyone.
Stephanie: He loves Christmas.
Ridge: It was special for everyone.
Stephanie: To answer your question, your earlier question, I just--you know, I didn't want anyone to feel obligated just because it was Christmas. But, you know, it was nice. Everyone came here, because they wanted to and because we all belong together.
Ridge: Yeah, for at least one day a year. Mother, as much as I'd like to see you and Dad patch things up, I think we still have to keep things kind of realistic, not get your hopes up too high.
Stephanie: Well, he spent the day with his family, didn't he?
Ridge: It was because Donna told him it was okay. She's got her hooks in him, mother, and they're in deep. And I don't think she's gonna let go.
Eric: (Laughs) (door opening)
Eric: Hey. (Sighs)
Donna: Good Christmas?
Eric: A wonderful Christmas. Thank you. (Chuckles)
Eric: Hi. Hi.
Donna: Did Stephanie think so, too?
Eric: Oh, she, uh, she chewed me out at first.
Donna: Oh, of course. (Giggles)
Eric: I'm actually surprised she didn't kick us all out. I thought she was going to. But once she saw the kids and the grandchildren and all the presents and--and everything, she gave into it.
Donna: Mmm. That must have been a wonderful moment for the family.
Eric: Are y--are you worried?
Donna: I'm the one who told you to go.
Eric: (Laughs) how can a woman as beautiful as you are be insecure?
Donna: Stephanie wants you back, Eric.
Donna: And your kids want the same thing.
Eric: Donna, Stephanie and I spent a magical day with the family, and I'm very, very glad I went. But it doesn't change how I feel about you.
Donna: (Sighs) I am being silly, aren't I?
Eric: No, no.
Donna: (Sighs heavily)
Eric: No. No, you're not. I get it. I get what's going on with your family. But everything that you're worried about with your father and his arrest.
Donna: Look, he didn't do it, Eric. I know how it looks. I mean, all the evidence points to him, but I am telling you somebody else shot Stephanie. (Sighs heavily) I just wish we knew who.
Storm: You know, I'm the one who shot Stephanie, and Dad shouldn't have to pay for it.
Brooke: You think you can change his mind?
Storm: I don't know. I think he feels like he's doing this for us, like he's trying to keep us together.
Brooke: But Dad's not guilty.
Storm: No. But he knows what his leaving did to us and the scars it created, the anger and resentment, especially in me.
Brooke: Oh. So now it's all his fault?
Storm: No. No, it's mine. I pulled the trigger, which is why I'll do the time. Dad's gonna get out of jail today. I'm gonna go down to the police station, and I'm gonna confess. ]
Eric: You know what? I don't think you and I should be talking about your father.
Donna: He isn't guilty, Eric.
Eric: Honey, all the evidence points towards him.
Donna: Which you'd expect if he's being framed.
Eric: Or if he actually did it.
Donna: Look, I am just happy that Storm is his lawyer, because if anyone can figure a way out of this mess, it's my brother.
Eric: Probably so. Look, I just don't want this to affect our relationship, okay? We have already survived Stephanie's interference there. We can survive your father's legal problems no matter how it turns out, okay?
Donna: Thank you.
Eric: For what?
Donna: For respecting my feelings even if you don't share them.
Eric: That's kind of what makes us, uh, so special, you know? We love each other enough to respectfully disagree. Contrary to what Stephanie and my children believe about our relationship, that is what I find so special. Come here.
(Cell phone beeps)
Donna: Oh. Sorry, a text.
Donna: It's Brooke. She wants me to come over. There's--there's news about my Dad's case.
Eric: Well, then you should go. Absolutely. Go ahead. I'll be here. I'll wait for you, and we'll have our own little, uh, post-holiday celebration...
Eric: Okay. Go on.
Stephanie: I think Christmas day was a turning point. Eric and I... reconnected.
Ridge: Mother, he cares about you. He always will. But I don't think we can just assume that--
Stephanie: I'm not assuming anything. Honey... (laughs) he has strayed in this marriage more than once and with more than one woman. But he always comes back.
Ridge: I just don't want to see you get hurt again.
Stephanie: Thank you. But I see the light at the end of the tunnel. And I'm not going to just sort of hang back and let Donna take advantage of this. I am going to do everything I can so that I can have the life that I want with the man that I love.
Ridge: Mother, you're still recovering from a trauma here.
Stephanie: I know. When I got shot and I fell, just before I blacked out completely, I remembered, you know, kind of my eyes open thinking, well--well, where is everybody? I remembered that when I came to in the hospital. And I realized that that could have been my last thought. But it wasn't, because it wasn't my time to go. Now having said that, I make you this promise-- when it is my time to go, I am not going to be alone.
Brooke: Whoa, aren't you getting a little ahead of yourself?
Storm: Ohh. So what, now you don't want me to confess?
Brooke: I don't want you or Dad to go to jail.
Storm: (Sighs) I know, Brooke, but it's either him or me.
Katie: You were just trying to protect us.
Storm: I know, but how I went about that was a mistake. I mean, it was the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life. I forgot that how I treat people, no matter what they've done to me or my family, is what defines me. And I want you two to be proud of me again. And the only way I know how to do that is to take responsibility for what I've done.
Brooke: I understand what you're saying, but we really need to think about this.
Storm: I have been doing nothing but thinking about this. The way I've been acting, the things I've done-- this isn't what the Logans are all about. This is like something out of Stephanie's playbook, which is why I need to take responsibility for this. I need to go down to the police station, and I need to tell them that I'm the one who shot Stephanie and that it wasn't Dad, that I set him up.
Donna: You, Storm? You did this?
Storm: Yes, Donna, I shot Stephanie. It wasn't Dad.
Ridge: Hey, Dad.
Eric: Ridge, hi. Come in. Come in.
Ridge: Is Donna here?
Eric: No, uh, no, no, she had to go out. What's up?
Ridge: I just--I just came from seeing mother.
Eric: How's she doing?
Ridge: According to whom-- her or me?
Eric: There's a difference of opinion on the subject?
Ridge: Well, if you ask her, she'll say she's on cloud nine.
Eric: And if I ask you?
Ridge: I'd say she's got her head in the clouds.
Ridge: The surprise family celebration you threw really had a big impact on her.
Eric: You were all there. All of you kids helped.
Ridge: Dad, you being there really made her day.
Eric: Listen, it was a wonderful, wonderful day for all of us, Ridge.
Ridge: She kind of saw a glimmer of a light at the end of a very long, dark tunnel. She's got her hopes up, Dad. I told her she needs to be realistic here.
Eric: So, uh, you're not here to lobby for a reconciliation?
Ridge: Is it possible?
Eric: I know how much that would mean to you and to the rest of the family, but it's not gonna happen.
Stephanie: I don't care what anybody says, Grandpa. It's not over. Not over between us. (Inhales sharply) I just... (exhales deeply) have a lot of faith in you and me. And if Donna thinks that she has a future with you, she's in for quite a shock.
Donna: You, Storm? You shot Stephanie and set our dad up?
Brooke: He was out of his mind, Donna.
Donna: You let them arrest our father.
Storm: I was angry, Donna. I was angry about a lot of things. I was angry that you called Dad and told him what happened to Brooke.
Donna: You were angry that I told him before you?
Storm: I was angry that you went to him for help when you should have come to me. And then--you know what? It doesn't matter what he did. I'm the one who committed the crime.
Brooke: Dad accused Storm of not protecting me.
Storm: Please, don't defend me, Brooke.
Katie: He said that if Storm had been here, it never would have happened. He pushed Storm too far.
Storm: (Sighs heavily) yeah, that's kind of how it felt-- like a hand on my back shoving me forward-- and getting the gun out of Brooke's desk, setting up the camera. (Sighs) and it all started with that damn ring.
Brooke: He has a ring just like Dad's. He's wears it on a chain around his neck.
Donna: You and Dad both played water polo for Van Nuys.
Storm: They're almost identical. So I put it on. I started the camera. And, yes, I raised the gun.
Donna: No. No, no, no, no, no, no, you--
Storm: I knew--
Donna: No, you didn't.
Storm: I knew...
Storm: That when the police saw the tape that they would arrest Dad. And I thought that you all would turn your back on him and that he would know what it felt like to be abandoned. And as far as Stephanie goes, well, if she suffered even a fraction of the pain that she caused Brooke over the years--
Donna: (Crying) Oh, my God. Oh, my God. You lied to us? I mean, Brooke asked you point blank, and you lied? All this time you've just been p-pretending to defend him. You bastard!
Brooke: Stop it. Stop!
Katie: Donna, come on. Come on, stop. It's okay.
Storm: It's okay. It's okay. I deserve it.
Donna: (Sobbing) Oh, God, you're damn right you do! Our father is rotting in jail because of you! How could you? How am I gonna tell him? I mean, his own--his own son, his own--his own son!
Storm: You don't have to. I already told him.
Donna: Then wh-then-- then why--why aren't they letting him out?
Storm: Because Dad told me not to say anything. But you're right, Donna. I can't let Dad take the fall for this, which is why I'm gonna go to the police station, and I'm gonna confess.
Brooke: No, don't.
Storm: Look, please, please, Brooke, this is the only way I'll be able to live with myself. Don't you understand that?
Brooke: Wait. I have an idea, a way that I think I can get you out of this and preserve our family, a way neither you or Dad has to go to jail.
Katie: What is she doing?
Brooke: (Sighs) Stephanie? Hi, it's Brooke. I need to see you. I'm coming over right now.
Katie: Wh-why do you want to see Stephanie?
Brooke: I told you, I have a plan.
Donna: A p-p--a plan that involves Stephanie?
Brooke: How ironic. But she may just be the key to saving this family.
Eric: Your mother and I will always be connected, Ridge. I cannot imagine my life without your mother in it.
Ridge: You can't imagine your life without her, but you don't want her in it.
Eric: No, I don't. She's an extraordinary woman. She's unique in all the world. We raised a wonderful family together. But our marriage is over, Ridge. I'm in love with Donna. My future is with Donna. (Sighs) and I'm asking your mother for a divorce.
Brooke: It came to me when you were talking about forgiving yourself.
Donna: If this plan involves Stephanie, I vote no, capital N-O.
Brooke: Donna, she's the only person that can help us.
Katie: The woman our brother shot?
Brooke: (Sighs) look, what if she goes to the police and she tells them that she remembers the shooting?
Donna: But she already told 'em she didn't.
Brooke: Well, she's been out of the hospital for a while. So it could have come back to her. So she remembers the shooting, and she knows for sure that Dad didn't do it.
Donna: And you want her to blame Storm?
Brooke: No, she just needs to say that Dad didn't do it.
Storm: The police will only go looking for somebody else.
Brooke: Not if Stephanie tells them not to. She and Lt. Baker go back quite a ways.
Katie: This is a horrible plan.
Storm: Well, I have to agree with Katie.
Donna: Look, why would Stephanie help us?
Brooke: Because she owes me.
Storm: Oh, no, no, I'm not gonna let you use the most painful experience of your life as a bargaining chip.
Brooke: Storm, she wants to make it up to me. I say give her a chance.
Donna: Brooke, she may owe you, but she hates me and--and our whole family. I mean, why would she help Dad? She's convinced he did it.
Brooke: But Dad didn't do it, and we can't let him take the fall for it.
Storm: Well, he won't if I confess.
Brooke: No, no. If my plan works, neither you or Dad will have to go to jail. She said she would do anything to make amends, anything.
Donna: That means she could be in jail, as well. Conspiracy, accessory to rape.
Brooke: Exactly. All the more reason for her to want to help.
Katie: Brooke, please, you--you cannot do this. You cannot put the future of our family in Stephanie's hands.
Brooke: I have to. We're finally starting to come together. Storm has forgiven Dad. Dad has forgiven Storm. We're going to heal, and we're going to move forward as a family. And we can't do that if Storm and Dad are in prison.
Storm: She'll only know that you're up to something, Brooke.
Brooke: Storm, she needs forgiveness. She wants forgiveness. Now if I can give that to her, maybe she will help us.
Brooke: She will.
Storm: Yeah, well, still, it's a pretty big gamble.
Brooke: Well, it's the only chance we've got. I can't lose you. I will find a way to get through to Stephanie. I will make this happen. She owes me. And after everything we've been through together, I mean, I really don't want to have to depend on her for anything. But I have no choice. I am not letting you go to jail. It's payback time, and I am going to collect. Stephanie is going to come through for us. She has to.
