(Christmas music plays again)
Stephanie: (Sighs heavily)
(Music shuts off)
(Knock on door)
Eric: Merry Christmas.
Stephanie: Why are you here?
Eric: May I come in?
Eric: I didn't think so.
Stephanie: Eric, did you not hear what I said to you about Christmas?
Eric: Actually, I did.
Stephanie: Yet you came over here anyway?
Eric: You're still indulging your inner scrooge, I see.
Stephanie: Don't start with me, Eric.
Eric: Stephanie, we have a lot to be thankful for. We could have lost you. And yet here you are.
Stephanie: Right. And instead, I lost you.
Eric: So you're not gonna change your mind, are you? You're not gonna have the family here with you for Christmas?
Stephanie: I'm sorry to disappoint you. I'm not up to it, okay? Now if you'll excuse me, I was just about to leave when you arrived.
Eric: To go where?
Stephanie: If you must know, to church.
Stephanie: Alone. Merry Christmas, Eric.
Brooke: Hey. (Sighs)
Ridge: How's your dad?
Brooke: Christmas eve in an L.A. County jail... (Sighs) what can I say?
Ridge: I'm sorry. Fortunately, I have the antidote.
Ridge: Mm-hmm, yeah. Let's see if it works.
Brooke: Mmm. Mm-hmm. ("O come, o come Emmanuel" playing)
Stephanie: Merry Christmas.
Man: Merry Christmas.
Stephanie: Thank you.
Felicia: Hey, I just saw Mom leave.
Eric: Yeah, and she's not gonna be gone very long either. Wow, look at you. That's beautiful.
Felicia: Oh, you made it.
Felicia: I guess we better get cracking then, huh?
Eric: Yes. We're gonna give your mother a Christmas she'll never forget.
Felicia: Thank you, Daddy. I can't wait to see her face when she gets home.
Eric: (Chuckles) Neither can I.
Felicia: (Whispering) Thank you.
Ridge: Okay, Dad, I'll talk to Brooke. He's over there now mobilizing the troops. It's up to us to make this all happen. And the kids have been clamoring to go see grandma.
Brooke: (Sighs) yeah, I-I know. It's their tradition, and I don't want to deprive them. It's just I'm not so sure that I could face Stephanie.
Ridge: I understand.
Hope: Mommy, Mommy, look what we made you.
Brooke: Ohh-oh, what is it? Careful. Oh.
Hope: A card. We just finished it. I wrote the words.
R.J.: I colored it.
Ridge: Open it up. Let's see this masterpiece.
Brooke: "Merry Christmas, Mommy. We love you." (Giggles) It's perfect. You always know how to make me feel better. I love it.
R.J.: We made one for grandma, too.
Hope: When are we going to her house?
Brooke: Maybe you should hurry up and get over there, 'cause I certainly know that Grandpa Eric could use your help.
Hope: Aren't you coming, too?
Brooke: Oh, honey, uh, I-I have--have a lot of work to do here. So how about later all four of us--we get together and we celebrate, okay?
R.J.: But we won't be together like always?
Hope: Please come with us. ("O come, o come Emmanuel" playing)
Stephanie: Well, here I am. You know, I've always loved Christmas, because it's always been filled with joy and happiness and laughter and fun and-- ah, but this Christmas, Lord... (Sighs) this Christmas--
Stephanie: All right, first let me thank you, you know, about the bullet. Someone was looking out for me, and I'm guessing that it was you. That's why I'm here. I'm looking for some answers, because... what has become of my life? How did I get to this miserable place? Don't answer that. I know. I know, I know. Believe me, I know. My obsessions. (Sighs) is this my punishment-that I get to live? I mean, is that why you saved me from that bullet-- so that I could rattle around in that big house all by myself while my children go on with their lives and my husband goes on without me? All right, all right, I know, I know. I'll stop feeling sorry for myself. Because I know that I've been a very, very, very fortunate woman. But everything I love is drifting away. Why did you let me live? I mean, if you could just help me to understand that.
Stephanie: I've tried to make amends. You know that. I have tried. Maybe that's too much to ask, right? Too much to ask for forgiveness? But isn't that what Christmas is supposed to be about-- love and giving and--and forgiveness?
Stephanie: What is it
that you have in store for me? ("God rest ye merry gentlemen" playing)
Stephanie: What do you want me to do? If you could just give me a little... (chuckles) just a little guidance...
Stephanie: All right, look, no matter how things work out, thank you for a wonderful life. Happy birthday.
Felicia: Wow, things are really coming together. It looks great. And I found some more ornaments in the storage room.
Thorne: Oh, good, Aly can help you put them up.
Felicia: We're on it.
Phoebe: We've got more food here.
Eric: Oh, good, good.
Felicia: It looks like you have enough for an army, guys.
Phoebe: I know.
Bridget: Well, at least enough for that bottomless pit.
Rick: Gee, thank you.
Eric: All right, you guys parked in the back, right?
Bridget: We sure did, Dad.
Eric: All right.
Thorne: 'Cause if Mom sees a bunch of cars in the driveway, we can kiss this surprise good-bye.
Aly: That'd be bad.
Thorne: Yes, it would, sweetheart.
Phoebe: So what do you need help with?
Eric: Everything, everything. Jump in. Uh, take this into the caterers. Uh, tell them what needs to be warmed up, I guess.
Rick: Sounds good.
Phoebe: Okay, got it.
Eric: Thank you.
Bridget: All right, let's go, guys.
Eric: Faster than that. It needs to be faster.
Eric: Don't drop anything.
Ridge: Hey, where do you want me to put these?
Eric: Oh, I don't know. Anywhere you can find room, Ridge.
Felicia: Yeah, good luck with that.
Hope: Can we help with the tree?
R.J.: I want to decorate.
Thorne: Well, come over and help Aly. Come on, guys.
Eric: There you go.
Thorne: All right, here we go.
Phoebe: The caterers need to know what time to serve dinner.
Eric: I don't know. W-we're gonna have to play that by ear, you know?
Phoebe: Okay, I'll tell them.
Eric: Okay. You look nice. That's pretty.
Phoebe: Oh, thank you.
Bridget: (Giggles) Time to light the candles.
Felicia: Wait. Here. Aah! Take these for the fireplace.
Ridge: We're gonna need three more trees for all these presents.
Felicia: Don't give Dad any ideas.
Rick: I gotta hand it to you. I don't know how you pulled this off so fast. You did a great job.
Eric: Thank you. Thank you.
Felicia: Oh, my gosh, you guys, look at this.
Aly: What is it, Aunt Felicia?
Hope: Is that the popcorn chain we made?
Felicia: Yes, from last year.
Thorne: Mother saved that?
Eric: Your mother's a lot more sentimental than she would have any of us believe. All right, let's all...
Aly: I got it.
Felicia: Don't eat it. It's stale.
Hope: It's tickling me. (All speaking indistinctly)
Eric: Okay, we gotta do the tree, starting with the... (mixed conversation)
Phoebe: Hey, look who's back.
Hope: Grandma's home.
Stephanie: (Laughs) Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello.
Felicia: Merry Christmas, Mom.
Stephanie: Uh, well, what-- wh-what are you all doing here?
Ridge: What do you think, Mother?
Thorne: The north pole delivers. Who knew?
Felicia: Are you surprised?
Stephanie: Surprised? Surprised doesn't begin to convey exactly what I'm thinking.
Hope: We made you a card.
R.J.: I colored it.
Bridget: And I got a sneak peek. It's pretty awesome.
Stephanie: Oh, well, thank you. Gosh, I'm so excited to look at it.
Aly: Are you okay, grandma?
Rick: Yeah, I was wondering the same thing, Stephanie.
Stephanie: Uh, well, it's just I wasn't expecting-- um, yes, I'm fine, Aly. Thank you for asking. May I speak to you outside for a moment, please?
Eric: Hmm. You know what? Phoebe, there's a surprise for everybody in the kitchen.
Phoebe: Yes, there is. Who wants cookies and cocoa?
Aly: Me, me, me.
R.J.: Me, me, me.
Hope: Me, me, me.
Phoebe: Yeah? Okay. Help me bring 'em out for everybody. Come on.
Thorne: (Sighs heavily)
Stephanie: What did you think you were going to accomplish hauling this entire family in here? Why couldn't you respect what I told you earlier?
Eric: Well, because I didn't buy it then, and I don't buy it now.
Stephanie: Well, that's just your insufferable ego.
Eric: No, you know-- no, you know what that is? That's me living my whole life with you knowing how much this holiday means to you and always has.
Stephanie: I told you-- I told you I can't handle it at this time. But no, you have to have your celebration and pretend that nothing has changed. Eric, everything has changed.
Eric: Oh, well, what do you want me to do? Do you want me to send all these people away? Just get the hell out of here?
Stephanie: (Scoffs) I wish you hadn't started the whole business in the first place.
Eric: All right, just wait a minute. Wait a minute. (Children's laughter and voices)
Eric: Listen to that. Can you hear that? That's the sound of your grandchildren's voices. Those are your children in there. Do you remember how many wonderful Christmases we have had, how many wonderful memories we've had in this house? Can you think of the true meaning of evergreen-- the profound joy that no matter how much heartache there is, life goes on. How can you not feel that joy, even this year, especially this year? Life is beautiful.
R.J.: How do the dice work?
Thorne: I'll show ya, buddy.
Felicia: Dominick, honey, don't pull on that, please.
Hope: Mommy, Mommy!
Brooke: Hey. Are you guys having fun?
Hope: We will now that you're here.
Brooke: Ohh, that is so sweet. Thank you. Come on.
Bridget: Hi, Mom.
Brooke: Wow. Hi, honey. This place looks amazing. You did this from nothing?
Ridge: Well, you know how determined Dad is.
Brooke: Mm. Well, I had to be here with you and the kids-- the family. I couldn't stay away.
Ridge: Thank you, Logan. You made my Christmas.
Brooke: (Giggles) .
Felicia: Brooke, I'm really glad you could make it.
Brooke: Thank you. That's very nice of you. So where's Stephanie?
R.J.: There she is.
Stephanie: Brooke? Well, I'm glad you're here, Brooke.
R.J.: Did you open up our card yet?
Stephanie: I did, and it was absolutely beautiful. Thank you so much.
Hope: Come on, sit down.
Stephanie: Okay, I will. Thank you. Phoebe, you look beautiful.
Phoebe: Oh, thank you.
Stephanie: You're a real gift to this family.
Phoebe: So are you.
Stephanie: Nice to see you, Rick.
Rick: Wouldn't have missed it.
Stephanie: I'm sure your dad's very happy to have you here. I am, too.
Bridget: You know there's no place else in the world we'd rather be.
Stephanie: Well, aren't we fortunate that you feel that way? Hi, honey.
Thorne: It's been a hell of a year, huh?
Stephanie: Yes. And thank God we're almost to the end of it.
Aly: I'm glad you're feeling better now, Grandma.
Stephanie: Well, me, too. Thank you so much. (Gasps) I hope there's nothing in that eggnog. (Laughs)
Stephanie: He's gonna turn your hair gray before he's 10.
Felicia: Kind of like I did to you?
Stephanie: Yes. Watch out. You're gonna turn into me.
Stephanie: (Whispering) Thank you.
Brooke: And last but not least...
Stephanie: Thanks for coming. I know it was hard for you to bring Ridge and the children over. But I appreciate it. I owe you a debt. And if there's ever anything that I can do to help you, I will. I give you my word.
Brooke: I appreciate that.
Stephanie: Well, what was I thinking? I guess I was just being my usual selfish and bullheaded person. Imagine me not wanting to spend the day with you and you and you and listening to you laugh and giggle and watch you open up gifts, huh? Wasn't that silly of me? Well, here we are. Thank you, Eric. Thank you for bringing the family together the way you have.
Eric: You are the glue that brings this family together.
Stephanie: Oh, pshaw, pshaw.
Felicia: A toast, everyone, to Mom and Dad.
Eric: Yes, absolutely.
Phoebe: Of course.
Eric: Merry Christmas, one and all.
Stephanie: Merry Christmas, everybody.
Thorne: Merry Christmas.
Stephanie: Merry Christmas.
Ridge: Merry Christmas.
Brooke: Merry Christmas.
Stephanie: Oh, Phoebe, here, you take mine. Come on.
Eric: Don't give him any more of that. (Laughs)
Stephanie: Merry Christmas.
All: Joy to the world the lord is come let earth receive her king let every heart prepare him room
Eric: Merry Christmas. And heaven and nature sing
Stephanie: Merry Christmas, Eric. And heaven and nature sing and heaven, and heaven and nature sing joy to the world the savior reigns let men their songs employ while fields and floods rocks, hills and planes
repeat the sounding joy
repeat, repeat the sounding joy
Eric and Stephanie: From our family to yours...
All: Happy holidays. (Cheering) Whoa... yaa... whoo!
