Brooke: I'm sorry.

Nick: Oh... well, one fashion show isn't gonna make or break us.

Brooke: For what it's worth, I'm finally getting the right kind of help. Ridge took me to a rape crisis center.

Nick: Well, remind me to take one or two of the ugly things I've said about him back.

Jackie: Have you seen this? If you did not deliberately push us to the brink of ruin for a pat on the head from Ridge Forrester, then I would very much like to know why you did it.

Donna: Oh, my God. Where did that come from?

Eric: Well, this is Stephanie's, and she keeps it in the drawer by the bed.

Donna: Of course, by the bed.

Eric: Yeah, I think I'll put it in my, uh, underwear drawer, since she's not likely to look in there.

Donna: Oh, you-- you think she might reappear and try to use it?

Eric: Better safe than sorry.

Donna: Which one of us do you think she'd shoot first?

Eric: I think you'd better have Clarke fix you up a bulletproof nightie.

Donna: Yeah, well, he hasn't been good for much of anything else. Take a look.

Eric: "Forrester Creations: End of an institution."

Donna: How does that make you feel after the years you've invested, the blood, the sweat, the tears? Then don't let it die. Make Nick an offer.

Ridge: Good morning.

Ashley: Please, just don't say, "Now where were we?"

Ridge: Okay.

Ashley: We were planning our wedding, and then you ran out to, uh... (slams down glass container)

Ashley: See your ex-wife model her underwear.

Ridge: For what it's worth, she did not do that.

Ashley: Hmm. So how long are you here for? Did she give you the day off? Could you please say something before it gets even worse, please? (Slams down glass container)

Ridge: I'm sorry.

Ashley: No. (Slams down glass containers)

Ashley: No, that's not gonna do it. Either I'm important enough to you for you to tell me what's going on, or I'm not. It's your call.

Brooke: Jackie, I panicked. I-- look, I wish I could explain, but--

Jackie: You--you do see what they're saying? That our designs are so bad, that you refuse to be associated with them.

Brooke: I'll do an interview. I'll say whatever you want.

Jackie: Okay, good. A-a photo shoot-- that--that might work. You could bring yourself to model the line in a studio.

Nick: We're not doing that.

Jackie: Why not?

Nick: Because Brooke's not in charge of saving this company. Just so you ladies know, there's one person that's responsible for the red ink and the bad press in connection with this company, and that person's me.

Eric: Nick's not gonna sell me my company back. I've tried.

Donna: But that was before. The dogs have their teeth in his ankles now-- the--the press, the banks, the shops.

Eric: Look, nick is not afraid of bankruptcy. He didn't get into the fashion business for money or for love. He got into it for spite.

Donna: Exactly-- to spite Stephanie for what she did to his mother. But what if you and Stephanie weren't a package deal anymore? I mean, can you swing it finance-wise? It-it's much better to present it that way because nick is not so crazy about Ridge, either.

Eric: Maybe. It's possible I could.

Donna: But what?

Eric: You know, there is no Forrester Creations without Stephanie. I mean, her father loaned me the money to start the business, you know?

Donna: Yeah, yeah. And I'll bet you you never heard the end of that one.

Eric: No. No, I didn't.

Donna: Well, she lost it for you all on her own. You don't owe her financially, morally, legally or any other way I can think of.

Donna: (Laughs) what was that for?

Eric: My work. My name. My freedom. Donna Logan, you are really something. You're right. It's time for me to take back what's rightfully mine.

Donna: (Laughs)

Nick: This whole show's been mine from the start. I acted like a rookie. I acted foolish, a bit naive.

Brooke: Oh, don't say that. You've worked so hard.

Nick: Worked hard at what, though? Trying to beat the Forresters at their own game in a business I really don't know anything about? People tried to tell me that going into it.

Jackie: Nicky, there's no time for eulogies. We've got too much invested.

Nick: Exactly, mother. We're invested, and we can't beat 'em on the runway. We gotta sell something. I don't really care what it is-- Brooke's bedroom line, slippers, sheets and pillowcases. We have got to change gears, and it's got to start with you. I want you to go home, sit down and kick your feet up and come up with a mass marketing proposal. I don't care what it's about-- wristwatches, toothpaste, something we can sell for ten times more than it costs.

Brooke: If you're sure...

Nick: I'm always sure. That's part of the problem.

Brooke: Oh, okay.

Nick: Okay.

Brooke: Oh, uh, and thank you for... you know.

Nick: I know that look. You think I'm crazy, don't you?

Jackie: What I think is that we'd better get on the phone to some of the buyers that are canceling left and right, because they smell blood, Nicky, and it's ours.

Ridge: I admit, I'm having trouble knowing where to draw the line. I'm always gonna have a relationship with Brooke.

Ashley: Look, I understand that. Have I ever given you any grief about that?

Ridge: It's gonna involve certain confidences.

Ashley: Wait a second. What does that mean? You're always gonna have secrets?

Ridge: Well, things that don't involve you and me, but Brooke needs to know that she can trust me.

Ashley: I need to know that I can trust you. Exactly how far are you gonna take this? If you sleep with her, is that when you think it's something I need to know?

Ridge: Ashley...

Ashley: If you don't think that whatever's going on with her is affecting us, then what is this conversation about? Is she addicted to drugs?

Ridge: No.

Ashley: Okay. Does she have a terminal illness? Because I'm willing to give you lots of slack if I have a reason to.

Ridge: Ugh! (Slams down hand) she was raped.

Nick: We have a contract for a minimum quarterly purchase.

Jackie: If you discontinue our line, our legal staff...

Nick: That's right.

Jackie: Inform us that your contract with Jackie M. Will be null and void.

Nick: It's right there on the contract. Well, if you don't sell the merchandise, send it back.

Jackie: You do that. You sleep on it. Get back to us.

Donna: You have a visitor.

Nick: Blonde or brunet?

Donna: Eric Forrester.

Nick: Did he bring that ball and chain of a wife with him?

Donna: He's alone. I'm told nobody's seen Stephanie in days.

Nick: Well, what do you know? Maybe he wised up and buried her in the basement.

Jackie: Send him in, Donna.

Donna: Okay.

Nick: If you're nice to him, you're fired.

Jackie: (Laughs) I love you, too, darling.

Eric: Hello.

Jackie: Eric, can I get you something?

Eric: No. No, I'm fine. Look at you. You look wonderful.

Jackie: Well, so do you.

Nick: Oh, how nice. We're all gorgeous. Our splendor knows no bounds. What do you want?

Eric: Well, it's nothing you haven't heard before.

Nick: I hate originality in the morning. Go ahead.

Eric: Well, according to the press, originality is something that you need. You're not gonna get it from Garrison. What would you say if I told you that, um, I'm here to cover your losses?

Nick: Are you listening, Mother?

Jackie: Yeah, I'm listening.

Nick: One of us is listening.

Eric: I'm renewing my offer to buy the company back, and not at the bargain-basement prices you'd get out there from somebody else on the open market. I'll pay you what you paid me. You keep the Jackie M. Chain. We have our own shops now. And you get to walk away from this mess you've made without losing a dime.

Katie: So what was it like at the rape crisis center?

Brooke: They want me to come back twice a week, and I said I would.

Katie: I'm glad.

Brooke: (Sighs) I was just so afraid that I wouldn't let a man touch me ever again.

Katie: It's just gonna take time. That's all.

Brooke: But it didn't. I admitted to Ridge how I felt, and he kissed me, and it was perfect.

Katie: (Sighs)

Brooke: I didn't feel anything but loved.

Katie: Well, he shouldn't have done that.

Brooke: Well, uh, it's not what you're thinking.

Katie: It doesn't matter. He's engaged. He has no business kissing people, even for therapeutic reasons.

Brooke: I'm not so sure about that engagement.

Katie: Well, you may not be, but Ashley is.

Ridge: So when I heard that nick was having her model lingerie, I knew that was gonna be a big disaster, which it was. I ended up taking her to a rape treatment center. We were there for quite a while.

Ashley: But she didn't report it?

Ridge: She felt like it would hinder her chances of getting her children back, and the guy who raped her knew all about that, too.

Ashley: How?

Ridge: Well, that--that story involves someone else. The point is, Brooke just wants to get on with her life. She really doesn't want anybody to know about this.

Ashley: She doesn't want to be treated like a victim. I understand.

Ridge: I was just trying to respect that. I guess she'll just have to accept the fact that you needed to be told. (Sighs) I happened to be the one she turned to, and I'm not sorry about that. But I am sorry if it made you feel--

Ashley: It's okay. You know, I wanted an explanation, and I-I have one, and I guess now you're entitled to one, too.

Brooke: Ashley threatened you?

Katie: No. And even if she did, I could take her. She's just not happy about this. I'm sure she intends to keep Ridge on a very short leash.

Brooke: Then she'll lose him, and she deserves to.

Katie: Of course, she doesn't realize that it's all perfectly innocent.

Brooke: Well, it is, and it isn't.

Katie: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: Well, look, I-I've got a lot of work to do. Nick is under a lot of pressure, and it's partly my fault.

Katie: I'm surprised he hasn't gone after Stephanie with a pitchfork.

Brooke: Why?

Katie: You know why.

Brooke: No, Nick doesn't know the connection between Stephanie and Andy, and I don't want him to. Besides, Stephanie's not going to be a problem anymore. Ridge is gonna make sure of that.

Katie: Okay. I will admit that Ridge has really been there for you. (Sighs) I just hope that you're not reading more into this than what's really there.

Brooke: Well, there is something there. I mean, he may not know it yet, but he certainly will find out, and this time, it's going to be different, because I know what kind of a partner that he needs out of me, and he's becoming the man that I've always wanted him to be.

Ashley: I've known my fair share of people that say one thing and do another. Actually, for a while there, it seemed like the universe was sending me an endless supply of them. But I guess what you need to know is that I can be so patient and I can be your rock, but I need to know that you're the same person when I'm not looking as you are when we're together.

Ridge: I can't really claim to have never told a lie in my life, but I know when I do screw up, it's usually involving conflicting loyalties.

Ashley: Right. So is Brooke gonna be okay?

Ridge: She will be.

Ashley: She has a very firm idea of what your loyalty to her should look like.

Ridge: I know. But I need a life that, uh-- that I can count on, too. I need to feel safe as well.

Ashley: Really?

Ridge: Mm-hmm.

Ashley: So how safe did you feel when I was jumping down your throat?

Ridge: Well, you didn't call everything off and throw the ring back at me.

Ashley: No, I didn't.

Ridge: That was good. You demanded an explanation, and I, uh--

Ashley: I did.

Ridge: That works for me, too...

Ashley: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: That... and the fact that I really, really love you.

Ashley: I love you, too.

Nick: I think you've got me confused with somebody else-- Forrester maybe. When he gets bad reviews, he whines a bit. Be honest. He is a little light in the loafers.

Eric: You have bigger problems than a bad review, Nick.

Nick: We plan on diversifying.

Eric: How, Forrester Creations maritime supply?

Nick: Maybe.

Eric: Nick, you can't move your inventory. You're up to your ears in debt. Are you gonna drag Jackie M. Down with you, all-- all your mother's hard work?

Nick: My mother? (Laughs) now we're concerned about my mother's future? Your wife tried to kill my mother. That's why we're all here in the first place. I don't care what it costs me. I will hold on to this company or I will bury it before I turn it back over to the two of you.

Eric: Stephanie is not in the room, Nick. You can tell, 'cause you can hear the other people talking. Look, she's not a party to this offer.

Jackie: Well, what does that mean exactly?

Eric: No partnership. No trust. Sole ownership by me.

Nick: Is this a new strategy by her? Because if it is, tell her I think she's slipping.

Eric: I'll be back for the Forrester Creations fire sale then.

Donna: Wait, is it true that your marriage to Stephanie is over?

Jackie: Where did you hear that?

Donna: I have it on good authority from a member of the family.

Nick: Oh, "A member of the family"? Did you put a little too much vinegar in her Martini?

Donna: Nick, he sold you the company out of loyalty to her and--and got nothing but grief for it. I mean, is it such a shock?

Nick: All right. So the mouse wants to roar.

Eric: I'm not here to discuss my personal life, Nick.

Jackie: Where is Stephanie now?

Eric: I haven't seen her.

Donna: Obviously, he's too much of a gentleman to get into the painful details. But, nick, shouldn't you think about this? I mean, Eric isn't your enemy. He's a decent, loving person and an icon in this business. He built this place from the ground up. You sell it to back to him now, and--and you have your revenge. We cut Stephanie out of the family business forever.

Nick: Why's he still wearing that ring?

Donna: Well, maybe he's not ready to make his private business public.

Eric: Well, she's exactly right. Go on, Donna.

Donna: Look, if Eric is starting a new life, why can't we all? Look, is running a couture house really what you had in mind? Isn't it just the result of circumstances that don't apply anymore? Nick, you could go back to making a success of--of Jackie's retail business, and--and Eric could be doing-- doing what he does best. Look, everyone gets what they want is all I'm saying.

Donna: In nautical terms, which I know you prefer, this is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to bail out of a company that's just capsized. Do you really want to pass it up? Really? I didn't know that.
