Brooke: "What is beautiful? Is a butterfly with deep-colored wings beautiful? Is a red, red rose sticking straight up in the sunshine beautiful?" You didn't have to do the dishes.

Ridge: Well, you guys were havin' so much fun.

Brooke: Well, I am surprised that they're still awake.

Ridge: They didn't want to miss a second with you. Did you, guys?

Hope: Right!

Ridge: That's right.

Brooke: You guys had fun today, didn't you?

Ridge: It's been a long time since we've all spent the day together, hasn't it?

R.J.: Big Bear!

Ridge: Say what?

R.J.: Big Bear!

Hope: Let's go to Big Bear!

Brooke: You guys want to go up to the cabin?

Hope: Yeah!

Brooke: It's kinda late to do that tonight.

Ridge: Well, maybe we could go tomorrow? We could spend the night, and we could make s'mores... (gruffly) tell ghost stories.

Brooke: Are you sure you can really do that?

Ridge: Yeah, I think a couple of days in big bear would be fun. Be the way we used to do.

Brooke: Well, yeah. It sounds great to me.

Ridge: Okay. Then Big Bear tomorrow. But if you guys want to get an early start, guess what you gotta do. You gotta go to bed now. That means goin' up and gettin' your jammies on.

Brooke: Yes, that's true.

Ridge: Everybody up. Get your jammies on.

Brooke: Beddy-bye time.

Ridge: I'll be up in a minute.

Jackie: Yes, well, these are all very nice.

Donna: Yeah. It's not really my style, though.

Jackie: Mmm... no.

Donna: You know, part of me wants to wear a red dress cut down to my navel.

Jackie: (Laughs)

Donna: Now that would really get Stephanie's goat. But then I think a traditional dress would tick her off even more. Maybe I should ask to borrow hers and really send her over the edge.

Jackie: (Sighs) is that really necessary, Donna, I mean, now.

Donna: (Scoffs) I'm not gonna do it.

Jackie: Look, you got involved with Thorne to punish Stephanie because she snatched Brooke's kids, but now Brooke has her children back, so...

Donna: Only because Ridge dropped the custody suit. If it were up to Stephanie, Brooke would have never seen her children again.

Jackie: But it is not up to Stephanie. I mean, she can't do anything else to your sister.

Donna: There is always something else she can do. But after tomorrow, I'll be right there to stop her-- across the family dinner table, around the Christmas tree, at the club for every birthday party.

Jackie: I-I-I don't understand it. Why is it necessary when Brooke can handle Stephanie herself?

Donna: Well, now she'll have help.

Jackie: Isn't there another way?

Donna: Look, Jackie... look. If you're trying to talk me out of marrying Thorne, forget it.

Jackie: I'm just wondering, that's all. I'm--

Donna: He's an amazing guy. Okay? He's successful, handsome, kind... and sweet. I mean, he's so sweet. I mean, yes, his mother is a pill, but... his daughter's an angel. Why wouldn't I marry h?

Jackie: Because you don't love him.

Donna: Oh. That again.

Jackie: Yes, that again. That teeny tiny, trivial, oh, so horrid little sticking point. Look, we're talking about the rest of your life. Donna, love does not guarantee that a relationship-- a marriage--is going to last. But you know what? It sure as hell gives you a better chance of getting over those rough spots.

Donna: I didn't say I couldn't love him. Look, I've--I've always gone for the bad boys, and-- and with them, it's-- the spark is either there or it's not. You can learn to love a good guy. (Knock on door)

Thorne: Donna?

Donna: Thorne!

Thorne: We have a problem.

Ashley: Hi.

Rick: Hey. Have you seen Ridge?

Ashley: Uh, he's not in his office, so, um, I guess he had something else to do.

Rick: Ah. He's probably off with Stephanie planning their next attack on my mother.

Ashley: He's not pursuing the custody battle.

Rick: What?

Ashley: No. In fact, I think he's taken the kids back to Brooke's. I think he's still there, as a matter of fact.

Brooke: Leave me alone!

No! No!

Andy: (Growling)

Brooke: (Screaming)

Andy: Ow! Bitch!

(Loud slap)

Ridge: Getting out of the house for a few days will be good for you.

Brooke: Yeah. Yeah.

Ridge: I'm just sick about it, Logan... what you've been through, how I misinterpreted so many things. I just seemed to make everything worse. Going after custody, judging you like that, when what you really needed was my support. I am so sorry.

Brooke: I have the kids back now. That's all that matters.

Ridge: Well, we still have to deal with a few other things.

Brooke: Ridge, rehashing everything that went wrong, it's--it's not gonna do any good.

Ridge: I'm just very sorry that I misjudged you so badly.

Brooke: You just thought you were doing what's best for the kids. Now your mother, on the other hand--

Ridge: No, you're absolutely right. And what you said before, none of this could have happened-- she couldn't have done any of this without my help.

Brooke: I was such a basket case that morning, the morning of the hearing, if the hearing did go through, you would've gotten full custody anyway.

Ridge: God, what a mess.

Brooke: I know. But it's over, and we're all fine.

Ridge: Let's go to big bear.

Brooke: Are you really sure you can get away?

Ridge: Dad and Rick have got everything tied up at the office. They're fine.

Brooke: Ashley?

Ridge: I'll explain.

Brooke: Not about the rape?

Ridge: No, no, no, no. I'll just, uh, tell her in no uncertain terms what an enormous idiot I've been. Logan, I promise you I will never doubt you as a mother ever again.

Donna: Yes, we've got a problem, mister. I mean, don't you know it's bad luck to see the bride in her gown?

Jackie: Okay, I'm just gonna leave you two alone.

Thorne: Okay. Thanks, Jackie.

Donna: No... stop looking! Come on, turn around!

Thorne: Okay, okay! Okay.

Donna: Now tell me what's going on.

Thorne: It's Aly. She's got a bug or something. I've been up with her all night long. I--she's not gonna be able to come to the wedding.

Donna: Oh. Well, you know, maybe she'll feel better tomorrow.

Thorne: Well, it's possible, but you know, maybe we should wait, you know? Maybe we should postpone for a week or, you know? It's just everything happened so fast. I don't know.

Donna: Okay. If that's what you want, of course.

Thorne: Well, just until she gets better, okay?

Donna: Right. Whenever you want. You can turn around now.

Donna: Not bad luck if I'm not wearing the dress.

Thorne: Whoa.

Rick: So Ridge took the kids back?

Ashley: Yeah. Your mother must be just thrilled.

Rick: So the custody battle, it's--it's over?

Ashley: Apparently so.

Rick: Ridge finally came to his senses. Why? What happened?

Ashley: Well, I don't have any details. Um, Stephanie told me.

Rick: But you said you talked to Ridge.

Ashley: Well, he told me something was going on with Brooke. He didn't say exactly what.

Rick: (Suspiciously) oh.

Ashley: What?

Rick: Well, it-- it's quite the turnaround. I mean, did you see it coming?

Ashley: No. What?

Rick: We--this is what my mom and ridge do, Ashley. They're--they're-- they flip-flop 180 degrees. I mean, yes, this time it's about the kids, but when they start seeing eye to eye with each other--

Ashley: Look, he was nev-- he was never comfortable having full custody, see?

Rick: So you don't think that--

Ashley: No, I don't think, and neither should you. Excuse me.

Rick: Well, it's hard not to, Ashley. I grew up with them. They go back and forth, back and forth.

Ashley: It was a mistake to try to keep Brooke away from R.J. and Hope, and Ridge finally realized that, and I think it's wonderful.

Rick: Yeah, wonderful for my mom.

Ashley: For everybody, especially those little kids.

Rick: When did he call you? Has he been there all day?

Ashley: I'm sure he had an awful lot of explaining to do, okay?

Rick: (Groans) I just hope he doesn't come here and give you an explanation. I'm not saying that what you two have isn't real. Okay? I know it is. I'm not saying that.

Ashley: (Laughs) right.

Rick: I'm just--I want you to keep in mind this is a man that can be in love with two women at the exact same time.

Ashley: (Laughs) oh, horrors. We don't know anybody like that, now do we?

Rick: Oh, yeah, I-I-I-- you know what? Fair enough. Fine. I just-- I think you deserve the best, and I don't want to see you get hurt.

Ashley: Well, hi there. Can we talk?

Rick: I have some questions for you.

Ridge: Later. I need to speak to Ashley alone.

Ashley: So hi.

Ridge: Hi.

Ashley: You dropped the custody suit, and Brooke has the kids. What a difference a day makes.

(Phone ringing)

Brooke: Hmm. So now you're bringing me gifts, huh?

Katie: I brought you cookies.

Brooke: Chocolate chip?

Katie: Mom's recipe.

Brooke: Oh! Did you make them?

Katie: I did. I borrowed storm's kitchen. I told him I was making 'em for the kids. I think if he thought I was baking for you, he'd be as worried about you as I am.

Brooke: Well, I spent all day with the kids. I feel great.

Katie: Well... okay. It's just if you want to talk about anything, you can give me a call. I'm around, day or night.

Brooke: You're really very sweet. But I mean it, I feel really good, and I think the best medicine that I could have is having my children back home, so...

Katie: Ridge brought them back?

Brooke: Mm-hmm. They're upstairs sleeping.

Katie: I can't wait to see them. I'll come by tomorrow morning.

Brooke: Mm. Tomorrow morning, we're leaving for Big Bear.

Katie: Oh. Just you and the kids and...

Brooke: Ridge.

Katie: Oh. So you're just... going for the day.

Brooke: Overnight.

Katie: What about Donna's wedding?

Brooke: I talked to Donna, and she fully understands. I mean, Ridge and I really need this time to reconnect as a family, to make things normal again, have some fun the way we used to.

Katie: You're still in love with him.

Ridge: You talk with my mother?

Ashley: Yeah. Well, I didn't really do that much talking.

Ridge: No, I don't suppose you did.

Ashley: She was pretty upset.

Ridge: Did you let her upset you?

Ashley: It would have been nice to have heard it from you.

Ridge: Just didn't want to get into it over the phone.

Ashley: You know, if you don't want to pure the custody battle, well, that's your business. You don't really owe me an explanation.

Ridge: Ashley, do you know why I signed that petition? Because I was concerned about Brooke's ability to care for the children.

Ashley: Right, so something happened to change your mind?

Ridge: Yeah. (Sighs) Brooke is not a bad mother. She hasn't been herself lately, it's true, but given everything she's been through, I decided there's really no need to rip the kids away from her. I just now want everything to get back the way it was.

Ashley: With Brooke?

Ridge: Ashley, I love you. My sharing custody with Brooke again doesn't change that.

Ashley: Okay, so... you want things to be the way they used to be, but it's not gonna affect us. I'm kind of confused.

Ridge: I just need to spend a little more time with Brooke and the kids in the next while.

Ashley: Oh, okay.

Ridge: They been through a really rough time.

Ashley: I know.

Ridge: It's gonna take a little while to get through that. So that's why I want to take them up to Big Bear tomorrow, just for the night. How do you feel about that?

 (Kissing sounds)

Donna: Oh. I'm so sorry about Aly.

Thorne: Yeah.

Donna: Poor little thing. But you know how these bugs are. I've seen it a million times with Brooke's kids.

Thorne: Yeah?

Donna: Sniffly. Feverish. Next day, they're doing cartwheels and bouncing off the walls.

Thorne: Mm-hmm.

Donna: But... we can delay the wedding, if that's what you want. But if we delay the wedding, we're gonna have to delay the honeymoon.

Thorne: Mm.

Donna: Is that what you want?

Thorne: No. I don't want to wait.

Donna: Neither do I. But... if I don't get these alterations done on this dress, we're gonna have to wait anyway. Can't get married like this.

Ashley: Overnight in Big Bear, you and the kids and Brooke.

Ridge: Our family needs time to heal.

Ashley: Yeah. I can understand that.

Ridge: I was hopin' you would.

Ashley: You know, if this is something that you feel you really need to do, then I support you. I really do. But then there's something that you need to understand, and that's that Abby and I have really grown to love it here in L.A. and I thought that we had something special with you. No. Don't look at me that way. I am not being insecure. I'm being realistic, and I know that you and Brooke have a very rich history, and if I would ever forget that, your mother would always be kind enough to refresh my memory, and that our relationship is relatively new, right? So if you have any inclination at all that maybe you want to renew some kind of a thing with Brooke or there...

Brooke: I've always loved Ridge. That's no secret.

Katie: Well, you were married to Nick once.

Brooke: And now Nick's married to Taylor, and they're having a baby.

Katie: Sounds to me like you have some expectations of your own.

Brooke: I'm not looking into the future. I'm just content with what's happening right now.

Katie: So there's really a chance for you and Ridge because he dropped the custody battle, he stood up to his mom, he brought the kids back? So what, he's the hero again?

Brooke: He said filing for custody was a mistake.

Katie: And now that he's fixed everything, you're just gonna forgive him?

Brooke: Yeah, actually. These last few days have been a real watershed for us, Katie.

Katie: Obviously. A couple days ago, he said he couldn't trust you to make decisions for your own children.

Brooke: Oh... he took that back.

Katie: Why? I mean, what happened? Something great must have happened in order for him to change his mind.

Brooke: Well, maybe... not... something great. I mean... maybe something great will come out of it.

Katie: Okay. Well, whatever happens in big bear, I think I'm gonna stick around for a while. You know, spend some time with my family, my big sis. I really need that right now.

Brooke: I need that, too. I'd love that. But you know, I-- I'm not gonna get too far ahead of myself with this idea about Ridge, because he's dating somebody else, Ashley Abbott from Genoa City.

Katie: Of the Jabot Abbotts?

Brooke: Mm-hmm. They haven't been dating very long, though.

Katie: Well, something tells me that they won't be dating much longer I mean, come on. I'm your sister. I know you pretty well, and I know what you share with Ridge. Let's see where Ashley stands after you two get back from your little trip to Big Bear.

Brooke: Like I said, I am not looking too far in the future.

Katie: Well, it's not like you need a crystal ball. Come on, the day things are over between you and Ridge, the day the world stops turning.

Ridge: Is that somewhere along the lines of the reassurance you may have been looking for?

Ashley: I'll never doubt you again.

Ridge: Good. I just need some time with my family, and when I get back, I need some time with you, and I don't mean here in the lab.

Katie: Ashley Abbott or no Ashley Abbott, Ridge is gonna come back to you, Brooke. He always has, and he always will. You'll see.
