Ali: When can we do sparklers, Daddy?

Felicia: Why don't we wait 'til Abby gets here?

Ali: Abby's coming? Cool!

Thorne: Abby. Abby? As in Ashley Abbott's daughter?

Felicia: Ridge invited them.

Thorne: That's interesting.

Felicia: Isn't it though?

Thorne: Yes it is.

Felicia: What's up with you today?

Thorne: What do you mean?

Felicia: I don't know. You just seem different. Happy.

Thorne: I am happy. I am. Life is really good right now.

Eric: Bridget has a double-shift?

Stephanie: Well, I guess Fourth of July is a day of mayhem in the emergency room.

Eric: That's too bad. She was looking forward to Fourth of July with all of us.

Ridge: What is a holiday without Margaritas?

Eric: Oh, there we go. I've been waiting for those.

Ridge: Mother.

Stephanie: Oh, I don't mind if I do. Thank you so much, sweetheart. Here you take this one.

Eric: All right, cool.

Stephanie: I'll take the next one.

Eric: And -- cheers.

Ridge: Cheers.

Stephanie: Mmmm, good. So, let me ask you, how was the rest of the evening with Ashley?

Eric: Wait, you had another date with Ashley?

Stephanie: He had two in one night.

Ridge: It was kind of dateus interruptus. I came to pick up R.J. at home, but that didn't work out. So I went back to Ashley's with some ice cream.

Stephanie: Well, that didn't take to long to eat, did it?

Eric: Why don't you just come right out and ask your son about his sex life?

Stephanie: I thought I just did.

Ridge: Don't encourage her, please.

Eric: You are incorrigible, you know that?

Stephanie: Mm-hmm.

Ridge: The evening went very well, mother. Thank you for asking.

Stephanie: You don't think I'm going to be content with that little tidbit? Now come on.

Ridge: Okay, here's another little tidbit for you. How many hotdogs we eat today.

Stephanie: Ah-ha! You invited Ashley.

Ridge: Ashley and Abby.

Eric: Well good. That's wonderful. The more the merrier.

[Knock at the door]

Ashley: Hello? Hello? We're here. Happy Fourth! Well, I guess everybody's down by the pool.

Abby: It's this way. Down some steps. I remember when I was here with Ali.

Ashley: You little smartie pants.

[Cell phone rings] Oh shoot, honey. I have to get that.

Abby: Can I please go?

Ashley: Yes, you may go. But do me a favor, okay. Be really polite, say hi to everybody. I'll be down in two seconds.

Abby: Okay.

Ashley: Bye honey.

Abby: Bye.

Ashley: Happy Fourth.

Rick: Is it? After you hung up on me last night.

Ashley: Well, I didn't tell Ridge, even though I really wanted to.

Rick: Thank you.

Ashley: Look, we can't keep this a secret, okay? If we leave it to chance and word gets out, it's going to be really bad. I mean, we're going to look guilty as hell for covering this up for so long. The smart thing to do is to tell the truth. Other people already know, Rick.

Rick: Bridget and Felicia are not going to say anything, Ashley.

Ashley: Well, I don't want to take that gamble.

Rick: Umm -- we'll have to take care of that another time 'cause the shipping department is closed on the holiday.

Ashley: You're not alone?

Rick: I will call you tomorrow and we'll get this straightened out. But don't -- don't do anything until then. Okay? Have a good one.

Ashley: Yeah right. You too.

Phoebe: Business?

Rick: Yeah --

Phoebe: Today?

Rick: I know.

Phoebe: What?

Rick: But listen, I will turn off my phone just as soon as I do this.

Ashley: Hi.

Thorne: Hey!

Ashley: Happy Fourth of July.

Thorne: You too.

Ashley: Thank you.

Ridge: Hey there. Glad you could make it.

Ashley: Are you kidding? We were thrilled to be invited.

Eric: Ashley, we're delighted you could join us.

Ashley: Thank you so much. And this is for you.

Stephanie: Oh.

Ashley: As a thank you for having us.

Stephanie: How sweet. And thank you for coming.

Felicia: Oh, the kids are digging it, that's for sure.

Thorne: Oh, Ali's getting into the sparklers. I'm going to go check on her.

Felicia: Uh-oh. I'm right behind you, bro.

Ridge: Well, the bar's open. What would you like?

Eric: Well, there's Margaritas, there's wine, beer, soft drink. Whatever you want.

Stephanie: How about a gin and tonic?

Ashley: Now that sounds fabulous.

Ridge: Tonic's upstairs. I'll get it.

Ashley: Oh, no trouble.

Stephanie: Oh, please. Shh! You're supposed to let him spoil you.

Ridge: I have our orders.

Ashley: Oh, okay.

Eric: I better get back to my grill.

Stephanie: I'm so happy that he invited you over today. This is just great.

Ashley: Yeah it is.

Stephanie: And you couldn't be more welcome. Believe me.

Ashley: Thank you so much.

[Knock at the door]

Brooke: Hi there.

Ridge: Logan?

Brooke: How's the holiday going so far? I bet R.J.'s having a blast with his cousins and you.

Ridge: It's a good day.

Brooke: Yeah? Well, I brought an extra sweater for R.J. 'Cause I'm not sure the one I packed this morning was warm enough when it gets dark tonight. And then I have the blanket that we used every Fourth of July. I can't wait. It's supposed to be beautiful and clear tonight. It's going to be fabulous.

Ridge: Didn't you get my email?

Brooke: No, I didn't really have time to check. Why?

Ridge: I thought you might want to pass on the fourth of July this year -- so it wouldn't be so awkward. I have Ashley here.

Brooke: Ashley's here? Now?

Ridge: So is Abby. They're downstairs now. That's why I sent you that email. So you wouldn't --

Brooke: So I wouldn't what? Cramp your style?

Ridge: So we wouldn't have to have this conversation.

Brooke: I see.

Ridge: Logan, I thought after last night you understood.

Brooke: I understand that we share a child and that we spend every Fourth of July together with R.J. That is our tradition.

Ridge: When we were together. Things have changed.

Brooke: Ridge, we're still a family. We always will be.

Ridge: You're absolutely right. And like a lot of families in this same situation, we'll find a way to make things work.

Brooke: It's very important that R.J. See that you and I --

[Intercom beeping]

Ridge: Sorry, just hold that thought. Hello. Yeah. Mustard and what else? Okay, just give me a minute and I'll be right down. That's Thorne. They need a few things down there and I was bringing Ashley a drink.

Brooke: Hmmm. By all means, don't let me keep you.

[Music playing]

Everybody loves everybody cries everybody dreams of a perfect life and that's all right so let's get busy give it a try everybody --

Phoebe: I'm sorry I missed you and Nick. Have a great holiday weekend. I love you.

Rick: Hey there.

Phoebe: Hi.

Rick: How you doing?

Phoebe: I'm good.

Rick: Was that your mom?

Phoebe: Yes. Yeah, she and Nick are taking Hope out on the boat and -- I should probably call my dad.

Rick: I'm sorry you have to miss the party today.

Phoebe: That means spending an entire day with you alone. I think I can deal.

Rick: Okay.

Phoebe: Mm-hmm. What's in the bag?

Rick: Oh, work.

Phoebe: Work? Rick. You said you weren't going to work anymore.

Rick: Well, it's a different kind of work.

Phoebe: That kind of work.

Rick: We're recording a duet.

Phoebe: Yes.

Rick: Tomorrow. And we don't have a duet to record.

Phoebe: No, we don't.

Rick: So we've got to get on that. But look, I'm not worried about it. 'Cause whatever we pick, the audience is going to love it.

Phoebe: Yeah.

Rick: A duet is about two people connecting, right? And we do. You and Constantine -- don't.

Phoebe: I don't know. Our song's pretty good.

Rick: Yeah, it's good. But it's not your style though.

Phoebe: How do you know? I mean, maybe I can be like Madonna and have a lot of different styles.

Rick: No, I love you just the way you are. And everybody else does too. Look, there's a market out there for elegant and classy music just like there's a market out there for elegant and classy clothing.

Phoebe: Yeah.

Rick: You, Phoebe Forrester are one of a kind. You're like a young Grace Kelly.

Phoebe: You serious?

Rick: Yeah.

Phoebe: Are you serious?

Rick: Yeah, I mean you're polished and beautiful. Elegant and classy.

Phoebe: You see me like that?

Rick: I do, I do. Don't let Constantine change you or anybody else for that matter. You got to be your own person. Be someone that people can look up to.

Ali: Dad, how long do we have to wait to go back in the pool?

Thorne: In a little while, sweetie. You're still eating.

Abby: Hey R.J., How about you show us how good you can draw in your new book?

R.J.: It's over here, come on.

Ali: Wait, me too.

Eric: Is Abby a good swimmer?

Ashley: She is. She loves the water. She always has.

Stephanie: Now what would be so difficult about finding a bottle of tonic that would keep Ridge this long?

Ridge: Brooke.

Brooke: The kids are all playing together. R.J., Ali, Abby.

Ridge: Brooke --

Brooke: Ridge, don't say it. Please, just don't.

Eric: Dear, I'm going to go see what the hold up is.

Ashley: No, no, no, no. I'm fine with the lemonade until Ridge gets back. Okay.

Stephanie: What is she doing here?

Ridge: Sorry Brooke, I should have called. I never meant for you to get hurt.

Brooke: I should be here, Ridge. I should be a part of this. Instead, there's some other woman with another child playing with our son.

Ridge: Brooke. Brooke, wait a minute.

Phoebe: Hey.

Rick: Hey. You got to listen to this.

Phoebe: Yeah?

Rick: This is our duet right here.

Phoebe: Well let me hear it.

Rick: Here.

Phoebe: It's great.

Rick: You think?

Phoebe: Yeah, I like it.

Rick: I think it's perfect.

Phoebe: Yeah.

[Cell phone rings]

Rick: I have the sheet music and everything for it. I think your phone's ringing.

Phoebe: Oh. Hello?

Constantine: Good, you answered.

Phoebe: Constantine, hi.

Constantine: Hey. I'm just over here putting some finishing touches on our track and it is super, super hot.

Phoebe: Very cool. He says our song sounds really great.

Rick: Oh really? Let me talk to him.

Phoebe: Hold on.

Rick: So your song sounds good, huh, buddy? Well enjoy it while it lasts because we're going to blow you out of the water at Insomnia. Have a good day.

Phoebe: That wasn't very nice.

Rick: I'm just kind of sick of his attitude. You know, about the music and him going on and on about how I cheated on you.

Phoebe: I would agree with that. I wish he wasn't the one who told me.

Rick: But -- hang on. He told you?

Phoebe: Well, remember when you left your phone --

Rick: Yes.

Phoebe: At his place. And then he listened to the message so he could figure out whose it was and then he heard this woman and she said your name.

Rick: Oh, and he just had to tell you about that, didn't he?

Phoebe: You were kind of a jerk to him that day, remember?

Rick: True.

Phoebe: And then he just felt like I had the right to know. You know, so he recorded it and played it for me.

Rick: He did what?

Phoebe: Yeah, I mean if he hadn't recorded it, I wouldn't have known about the other woman.

Stephanie: This -- you know, it's just so typical of Brooke to show up where no one --

Eric: Stephanie, stop it. For God sakes, let Ridge handle it.

Felicia: Don't let it get to you.

Ashley: I'll try not to.

Felicia: Look, when you're with my brother it's --

Ashley: Ex-lovers just come with the territory?

Felicia: Whatever happened with you and Rick, I'm sure it was wild, but it's over. And no offense to Rick, but Ridge has something really great to offer.

Ashley: By the way, I'm going to tell Ridge the truth. I can't take all the secrecy.

Felicia: Little friendly advice -- keep it in the vault.

Ashley: No, I'm not comfortable with that. I can't keep doing this.

Felicia: Okay, let me tell you something. Our family motto is, when in doubt, blow whatever it is out of proportion. Things are good. The family likes you. You even passed the Stephanie test. Why rock the boat?

Eric: Look, I don't want you to get all fired up and start some kind of a scene.

Stephanie: I'm going to get Brooke to leave --

Ashley: Stephanie, please. I really wish you wouldn't do that.

Stephanie: Well, it's embarrassing. She always shows up where she's not wanted. I want her to leave.

Ashley: What Brooke needs is just some time to get her head on straight and I told her that last night.

Stephanie: Wait, I thought you were with ridge. When did you talk to Brooke?

Ashley: She stopped by very late to -- chat.

Stephanie: She had the gall to show up at your home? Whoa, did she try and intimidate you?

Ashley: Oh, I don't know. If that was her plan, it didn't work. I think it was a conversation that we needed to have.

Ridge: Brooke.

Brooke: Please, just let me leave while I still have a shred of dignity left.

Ridge: I don't want you driving out of here this upset.

Brooke: What do you care? You just don't want me around.

Ridge: I do care. I'm always going to care, Brooke.

Brooke: Well that's why I'm so welcome here at your family home because you care so much.

Ridge: I think we both know, if Nick was available, you wouldn't even be here right now. And you definitely wouldn't have pleaded with me to stay with you last night.

Brooke: Ridge --

Ridge: Brooke, in the past, I would have taken you back. No question. But now --

Brooke: Now that there's somebody else, to hell with me, right?

Ridge: Given how ambivalent you've been towards me the last while, can you really blame me for being a little protective of myself? I know you're hurting. I know you're confused.

Brooke: You're damn right I'm confused. I don't know what happened to us. And I can't even know where to begin to fix it.

Brooke: Just tell me what to do, Ridge. What you want.

Ridge: I don't really know, Brooke. I'm not really in a position to make promises right now.

Brooke: What does that mean?

Ridge: It means I think we both need a little space, a little time.

Brooke: You want to start a life with Ashley?

Ridge: I haven't even thought that far ahead. But I do know, if you still have feelings for Nick -- it doesn't really leave any room for us to have a future together, Brooke. I'm going to get back to the party. Drive home safely.

Phoebe: Are you going to stare out the window the whole night?

Rick: I think Constantine is out to get me.

Phoebe: Rick.

Rick: Does Constantine still have that tape?

Phoebe: I asked him to delete it. Look, can you just forget I said anything, okay? I don't want to think about you and another woman, ever again. Okay?

Rick: Can you see that Constantine is poison? He wants you for himself, Phoebe. So he's going to do everything in his power to make you believe that I don't love you. And the couldn't be further from the truth. Because I do. I love you with all my heart.

[Fireworks bursting]

Stephanie: Oh! Weee!

R.J.: Wow.

Stephanie: Wow is right.

Felicia: You know, it's not like they ran off someplace together.

Ashley: Sorry?

Felicia: Ridge and Brooke. They're talking. But he hasn't abandoned you and Abby.

Ashley: Right, right. You know, it's obvious though that Brooke's not going to go down without a fight.

Felicia: So? Let her fight. It won't do her any good.

Ashley: I think maybe Abby and I should just get going.

Ridge: Before the grand finale? No, you don't. Kids, everybody okay? Enjoying this? R.J.?
