Stephanie: Ashley, I know -- well, I think you're interested in Ridge. And I don't want you to let Brooke run you out of town. You might be the one to save him.
Ashley: Want to be saved?
Stephanie: Oh honey, most men don't know what they want or need. She drives him crazy and it just can't continue. He just needs a little encouragement. He just needs to realize that there's another wonderful woman out there. And that might be you.
Ridge: But thank you for your offer, girls.
Model #1: Aww, you just got out of jail, you should celebrate.
Ridge: Well, my family did throw me a party.
Model #2: Well we were thinking of something a little less g-rated. There's this new club on sunset.
Ridge: Very tempting. I really need to spend some time with my son.
Felicia: Hey, there he is. Mr. Back in the game. Do you guys mind if I steal my brother for a minute?
Model #2: Sure.
Ridge: We're all through here. Have fun tonight.
Model #2: Your loss.
Ridge: Invited me to some new club. Menage a trois.
Felicia: And you said no? I'm glad you did because I think I know somebody else who'd like to celebrate with you tonight.
Felicia: I probably shouldn't say anything. But I was just with Ashley. You know she's crazy about you, brother. Don't let her playing hard to get fool you.
Ridge: Ashley's not a game player.
Felicia: No, I know. She's protecting herself. Because she thinks she could actually fall for you.
Ridge: She told you that?
Felicia: She didn't think I'd tell you. But I have an obligation as your loving little sister to make sure you don't overlook a really incredible woman. Pretend for a minute I'm not about to sound exactly like mother, okay. But would it be the worst thing in the world to give Ashley a chance instead of Brooke?
Brooke: Honey, would you like to have the other half of R.J.'s sandwich?
Bridget: What is it?
Brooke: Egg salad.
Bridget: Oh, no thanks.
Brooke: Well, I can make you something else if you'd like.
Bridget: That's okay, mom. I'm good.
Brooke: You do seem to be doing better. You were stressed there for a while.
Bridget: Yeah, I was actually. There was a problem at the hospital, but it all turned out to be just a false alarm.
Brooke: Oh, well that's good news.
Bridget: Yeah, you have no idea.
Brooke: Now, if I could just have some good news. Like Stephanie fell off a cliff.
Bridget: Why don't you just have ridge talk to her?
Brooke: I did. He laid down the law where business is concerned. But personally, I think he's a little bit wary.
Bridget: Can you blame him?
Brooke: No. But all the while, Stephanie keeps working on him. Pushing him toward Ashley.
Brooke: Oh yeah. Stephanie's savior du jour. I mean, she might as well just take out a newspaper ad. "Calling all available women, please keep my son away from his baby's mother."
Ashley: Stephanie, I am so, so flattered that you think I might be good for your son. But I don't see how I can help you. I just don't. I don't.
Stephanie: Be truthful with me, are you involved with someone else? I know I ask --
Ashley: That is so not the issue! Please, I just don't want to be caught in the middle of two people that are meant to be together. I've done that and I don't want any part of it, okay?
Stephanie: Look, he's forgiven her for leaving him at the alter, but please -- she humiliated him by doing that.
Ashley: Right. And then he took her back into the company.
Stephanie: But not into his heart. No -- Ashley, I can see that you're attracted to him. I know he's attracted to you. So –
Ridge: Sis, what makes you think I'm pursuing something with Brooke?
Felicia: You're working together. And with your history, it's only a matter of time.
Ridge: Careful, you're talking about the mother of my son.
Felicia: Yeah, who dumped you the day of your wedding. I'm sorry, I'm not throwin' stones. I'm just looking at the situation.
Ridge: Okay, look with your eyes, not your mouth.
Felicia: Look, you're -- you went through hell, okay. You were in jail. Headed for prison. Brooke helped you out. She talked to Rick. Got him to testify. And now, you're free. And you want to get back to what's familiar. You'll always be in love with Brooke. We all know that. You have a beautiful child together. But before you get back on that merry-go-round, why not give Ashley a spin?
Brooke: R.J.'s so happy to see his dad tonight.
Bridget: What's wrong?
Brooke: I don't know. You know, none of my kids have grown up with their fathers. Is it so wrong to want that for R.J.?
Bridget: Well, is that really all you want?
Brooke: Ridge and I still do love each other.
Bridget: I'm sure that you do. Just like part of you still really loves Nick, right?
Brooke: Nick's future is with Taylor.
Bridget: So, does that mean your future has to be with Ridge?
Brooke: Look, I know you're skeptical. I've gone back and forth so many times.
Bridget: You did lose your bearings there for a little bit, Mom.
Brooke: Yeah, I did. I couldn't get that image out of my head. Rick lying on the floor. And blood in my hands. I mean, my whole future just fell apart right in front of me. And Rick said that Nick still loved me and he was only with Taylor because I wasn't available. So I thought -- well, I thought wrong. Hurricane Brooke. That's what Stephanie called me once. She blames me for tearing apart her family. But I know that I have hurt her family. But I think that I've damaged mine even more. Honey, all I want to do is what's right. You know, I wasn't able to give Nick the child that he wanted, but I already have a child with Ridge. And I really believe that we could be a family again.
Ashley: Obviously, Ridge and Brooke have had their problems, but no matter what you say, there is something -- something between the two of them.
Stephanie: Yes, they share a child. And that's not enough to hold two people together. I think if he would just give himself the chance, he could be happy with someone else.
Ashley: Someone like me?
Stephanie: That I don't know. But I -- I've seen the two of you together. And you click.
Ashley: We do click. Yeah, I mean, you know, before he got arrested I thought we might have a chance.
Stephanie: Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Ashley: Look, I think Ridge is a wonderful, wonderful man. But I left Genoa City to get out of the middle of my family's in-fighting. Why would I want to come here and get right in the middle of yours?
Stephanie: Why indeed? You are tired of games, and so is he.
Ashley: Look, I care about Ridge, okay? But I need to think about my daughter. My daughter and myself.
Stephanie: Of course.
Ashley: Unfortunately, my time here in L.A. hasn't turned out the way that I'd hoped it would. Abby is spending a lot more time with her father, which means she's traveling a lot and she's missing a lot of school. I've got your fragrance campaign up and running. So -- I'm thinking maybe it's time for me just to go back to Genoa City.
Stephanie: I'm sorry.
Ashley: I'm sorry too.
Stephanie: Seems to me, you came here looking for something simpler. Something more fulfilling than what you'd had before. I think it'd be a big mistake. A big mistake if you left here without at least trying to find it.
Felicia: Ashley is one hot mama. Takes one to know one.
Ridge: You won't get any argument from me.
Felicia: So you've seen it, too? You know what else I see?
Ridge: Uh, probably my future.
Felicia: I've seen you with Brooke, and Taylor and Caroline. Three very different woman. But all have qualities that I see in Ashley.
Ridge: If you like her so much, why don't you date her yourself?
Felicia: You're funny.
Ridge: You obviously don't have enough to do around here. Is that why you're so involved with my love life lately?
Felicia: Call her. She's at home. You know you want to.
Ridge: Hey, it's Ridge.
Ashley: Ridge? Well, that's kind of a weird surprise.
Ridge: What are you up to tonight?
Ashley: I don't have any plans.
Ridge: You do now. I'm taking you out to dinner.
Ashley: Out to dinner? Umm -- you know what, Ridge? Abby's out of town with her dad. I don't really feel like going out. Why don't you come on over here?
Stephanie: Tell him I'll pick up R.J.
Ashley: Your mom says that she'll pick up R.J.
Ridge: My mother's there? Why am I not surprised? Hey, I'll stop somewhere on the way over and get something. What are you in the mood for?
Ashley: Just your company. I'll take care of dinner.
Ridge: Sounds good. I'll see you soon.
Ashley: I just agreed to see him for dinner. That's all.
Stephanie: Fine, fine. At least he won't be wasting another evening with Brooke.
Ashley: I probably couldn't have said no to him even if I tried.
Stephanie: I think the two of you would good for one another. Risky business, happiness. Sometimes it's closer than you know.
Bridget: So, are you uh -- getting ready for Ridge, huh?
Brooke: Oh yeah. He's coming to pick up R.J. After work.
Bridget: I'm just going to go get my stuff then and go.
Brooke: Oh honey, wait. One more thing. If you were able to grow up with both your parents, if I were able to give that to you --
Bridget: Would it have made a difference? I don't know, Mom. I don't know. It just didn't turn out that way for Rick and me.
Brooke: Well then, do you think it would be good for Hope and R.J. If it turned out that way?
Bridget: I want them to grow up with you and Ridge?
Brooke: You gave up your marriage so that I could be with Nick.
Bridget: I did. But mom, he is with Taylor now. She's having their baby. Look, if you see yourself with Ridge, I -- I don't see any reason to object to that.
Brooke: It's funny. With you, it's always about reason. And with me, it's always about fate. When Ridge hit Rick, I believed that it was my fate to be with Nick. And then everything changed because Taylor got pregnant.
Bridget: See, that's the problem with fate. I think it's really fickle.
Brooke: And I'm sure that's how Ridge sees me. Fickle and erratic. But I've to go change that. Got to make him trust me. See that we're a family. We're R.J.'s parents and nothing can break that bond. Nothing.
[Doorbell rings] That's got to be him.
Bridget: Yeah, well just listen, Mom. I love you, and I'm just going to see myself out the back.
Brooke: Okay honey.
Bridget: Maybe some of my good luck will rub off on you.
Brooke: I love you. Bye. Well, 'bout time you ma -- Stephanie?
Stephanie: I'm here to pick up R.J.
Brooke: I thought Ridge was coming.
Stephanie: Obviously. Using that child to try and get Ridge back. Shame on you.
Ashley: Those are beautiful.
Ridge: Stargazers. Which is what we'll be doing on the beach, after we --
Ashley: After we, what?
Brooke: Where's Ridge?
Stephanie: Safe from this rather obvious and silly seduction on your part.
Brooke: He should be here.
Stephanie: Well, he can't be. So if you'll just give me R.J.'s things, I'll take the boy and I'll go.
Brooke: This is supposed to be Ridge's time with him, not yours.
Stephanie: Well, he'll be with him, later.
Brooke: Look, if he's working late at the office, I'll just take R.J. over there.
Stephanie: No, I'm supposed to take him to the house. My house.
Brooke: No, you're not.
Stephanie: Ridge asked me to pick him up. I thought it'd be nice. Eric and I can spend some time with the boy.
Brooke: If he changed the plan he's got to call me first.
Stephanie: You act like I'm kidnapping him or something. This is just absurd behavior.
Brooke: I'm going to call Ridge and see what you're up to.
Stephanie: Oh, stop this nonsense. What do you mean, you're going to call him?
Brooke: He's out with Ashley, isn't he?
Stephanie: What business is that of yours if he is?
Brooke: Because ridge is supposed to be spending the weekend with his son!
Stephanie: He will! Would you stop whining and just get the boy and let me leave with him?
Stephanie: What do you mean "No"? What is this all about? Because he's on a date? You have the audacity to stand there -- the arrogance to stand there and be upset because he's on a date? After what you did to him? Leaving him standing at the alter. Making a fool of him. You can't have Nick, so now you want to have Ridge. That's not going to work. I don't care how many damn candles you light. And how low you dim these lights. My son's smart enough to know when he's being offered scraps.
Ridge: Looks delicious.
Ashley: I hope it is delicious.
Ridge: You said on the phone my mother was here. Do I want to know why?
Ashley: Yeah, she was singing your praises.
Ridge: And verbally gouging out Brooke's eyes?
Ashley: Yeah. That's exactly what she was doing.
Ridge: Yeah. So sorry.
Ashley: That's okay. If she hadn't been here, I probably wouldn't have invited you over. And I'm awfully glad I did.
Ridge: I'm glad you did, too.
Ashley: I need to talk to you about something. Umm -- oh boy. I'm leaving L.A.
Ashley: Because I've done what I set out to do. And now it's time for me to get back to my life.
Ridge: I thought things were going pretty well. Not perfect. We hit a few snags. But I thought things were getting back on track.
Ashley: Yeah, I'm just not sure I can find what I need here.
Ridge: I see.
Ashley: The working part's been great. I mean, I've loved working with you.
Ridge: Well, I think our collaboration had a lot of potential.
Ashley: Yeah, we're a good team.
Ridge: It's hard to find -- someone you really jive with.
Ridge: Yeah, I thought we did.
Ashley: We do.
Ridge: So now you're leaving.
Ridge: Hmm. I don't want you to. You might just be the best thing that's happened to me in a long time, Ashley. And I don't know, because I haven't had a chance to find out. When you came to L.A., I was pretty much a train wreck. Getting dumped by Brooke -- in jail for Shane's murder. That wasn't me. I wasn't that guy. I'm not that guy. I don't want you to go. Don't go. Until we've had a chance to --
