Ridge: Mother, you're not really making any sense.
Stephanie: I'm cautioning about it. I don't want you to do anything rash.
Ridge: I killed a man. So turning myself in to the authorities is rash now?
Stephanie: Well, stop and think about this. Nick had some very threatening things to say about Shane in front of Lieutenant Baker. We know the body was put into a garment bag. We know it was thrown in the middle of Santa Monica Bay. Think about how that looks?
Ridge: It doesn't really matter how it looks. I'm the one that did it. The right thing for me to do now is confess.
Stephanie: No, no. I don't want you to confess. Honey, maybe somebody will pay for this, but it's not gonna be you.
Phoebe: I just can't believe Shane's dead. I mean, one minute, he's alive and breathing, and the next, someone shoots him and just dumps his body in the bay. Who would do something like that?
Rick: I don't know. We just have to have faith that the police will figure it out. Hey, I am -- I don't mean to change the subject so abruptly, but there's something that I want to talk to you about.
Phoebe: Do it.
Rick: Um, there's a place that I found up the coast. They have spectacular views. Take a look at this. It's where people go on their honeymoon.
Phoebe: It's gorgeous.
Rick: Remember the honeymoon suite in Sydney? Well, I thought that we could drive up here, have some lunch and book a room afterwards -- get a massage, just sit in the hot tub. And then --
Phoebe: And then what?
Rick: Well, we'll see what happens.
Phoebe: You mean sex?
Rick: If it feels right, yeah.
Phoebe: I -- I thought we agreed to wait.
Rick: I know. I know, but how long did you want to wait?
Phoebe: I don't know, until we're committed, right?
Rick: Yes. I am committed to you.
Bridget: I missed you so much, Dad.
Eric: Good. Good.
Bridget: Well, how was it? How was your trip?
Eric: My trip was fine. It was long.
Eric: It was fine. I'm glad to be home. How are you? Come on, tell me about everything here. Have you spoken to your mother?
Bridget: Yes. Actually, I just came from seeing her. I had to get her to sign some release forms for this research project we're doing at the hospital.
Eric: How's she doing?
Bridget: She's hurting pretty badly. She feels very alone.
Eric: Well, maybe some alone time is what she needs right now. She has to kind of see how things are and decide what she really wants.
Bridget: Well, she knows what she wants, Dad. She wants a relationship and a family and a fantastic career.
Eric: You know, she had all that before she overreacted to Ridge punching your brother.
Bridget: Overreacted? Sounds like you've forgiven him.
Eric: Well, I don't know about that. But I am a dad, too, and I understand how far a man would go to protect his daughter. I just wish she understood that, too.
Taylor: I was so worried.
Nick: But there's nothing to worry about.
Taylor: It isn't every day that the police come in your office; they start asking a lot of questions about a murder.
Nick: Well, they can ask me anything they want. They haven't got anything on me.
Taylor: Yes, but Lieutenant Baker was asking questions. He was looking around your office. I mean, he must have some kind of a theory.
Nick: He can have all the theories he wants. He's got no evidence to pin me to Shane McGrath's death. Honey, uh, you know, I hate to brush you off like this, but you know I got a lot of work to do here. So can I see you at home tonight, please?
Taylor: I just want you to take me seriously.
Nick: As a heart attack.
Taylor: All right, please, would you just listen one minute? Maybe you're right. Maybe -- maybe this is nothing. Maybe they have no foundation whatsoever. But after what I just went through with these people, you really have to be careful. You can't talk to them the way you did.
Nick: This Lieutenant Baker's got some chip on his shoulder.
Taylor: That's even more of a reason not to agitate him.
Nick: I'm not agitating him, but this whole thing is ridiculous. I am not gonna let this guy think that he can scare me.
Lt. Baker: Did forensics send those results yet?
Dt. Scott: Not yet.
Lt. Baker: Well, light a fire under them, will you? I want to find out if that shirt we found on Marone's boat has McGrath's blood on it.
Dt. Scott: All right, I'll go down there right now.
Lt. Baker: And let me know what you find out.
Dt. Scott: Okay.
Ridge: You think I should let Nick take the fall for something I did. I think I should confess.
Stephanie: And if the police think they have their man?
Ridge: A man that happens to be my brother?
Stephanie: Biologically, yes. When has he ever treated you like a brother? He doesn't deserve any compassion from you. Don't talk to me about brotherly love. Believe me, Nick will get what he deserves.
Rick: Phoebe, you know that I'm committed to you.
Phoebe: Yeah, Rick.
Rick: Listen, listen, listen, I'm not -- I am not trying to pressure you here. That's not what's happening. I guess I'm just -- I'm trying to understand, you know, what you need from me in terms of proof, you know? I care about you, and I've stood up to your dad and my entire family. And I just -- I want to be with you. I want to be with you in every way possible.
Phoebe: I want that, too. I do.
Rick: Okay, okay. So what's next? I mean, what happens now? What are we waiting for?
Phoebe: I just -- I need to know you want to be with me forever.
Rick: Okay. You want to get engaged?
Phoebe: No -- yes -- I mean, I don't -- I'm too young to get married I guess.
[Cell phone rings]
Phoebe: Hello? Lieutenant Baker, hi. Now? Okay. I'll be right there. Okay.
Rick: Is everything all right? What's going on?
Phoebe: Um, Lieutenant Baker, he wants me to meet him at your dad's house.
Phoebe: I don't know. I just -- I have to go I guess.
Rick: Wait, wait, Phoebe. Phoebe, wait, wait. Phoebe, just promise me something, okay? Just promise me you'll think about it. Even an overnight or something.
Phoebe: I promised myself, and we -- we promised each other. And I love you for making that commitment. Bye.
Ashley: Whew, it's hot in here. We should bottle those pheromones and sell our own love potion.
Bridget: Dad, I understand that Ridge was just protecting Phoebe. Of course I get that. But from a woman's point of view, anybody that hurts your child -- it doesn't matter if they're a grown adult. It's gonna be hard to just let that go.
Eric: How long do you think your mother is gonna feel this way?
Bridget: Well, that's pretty hard to say. I -- she's very depressed. You know, she thought that Nick would take her back. Dad, she showed up at the chapel.
Eric: Oh, no. Don't tell me that she interrupted this whole thing?
Bridget: No, no, she didn't cause a scene or anything. Nick and Taylor did get married. They're even gonna have a baby together through in vitro.
Eric: Are they? How do you feel about that?
Bridget: I'm fine. You know, I'm happy. I am. I'm happy for Nick, 'cause he -- he's wanted to have this child for so long and -- I know that. Don't look at me like that, dad. You don't need to worry about me. I know what you're thinking. I'm fine. I'm fine. I have moved on. I'm over him. He's moved on. I just wish that Mom could see that.
Nick: Don't worry about this. Thinking that I'm gonna lose my temper, because I won't.
Jackie: Oh, Nicky! Oh -- sorry. Sorry for the interruption. But I just heard that Lieutenant Baker was here earlier. Something about a search warrant?
Nick: Mother, can we talk about this another time, please?
Jackie: No, no, I want to talk about it now. Has something happened?
Nick: This Lieutenant Baker seems to think that I have something to do with the death of this kid, Shane McGrath.
Jackie: Do you mean that creepy young man that was here, trying to land one of our accounts?
Nick: Yeah, that's him.
Jackie: Oh, dear.
Nick: Relax. Relax. Both of you, relax. I had nothing to do with this.
Ridge: What he deserves?
Ridge: For something I did?
Lt. Baker: Mrs. Forrester, this is Lieutenant Baker.
Stephanie: Yes, Lieutenant Baker. How are you? What can I do for you?
Lt. Baker: I'm calling about the investigation into the murder of Shane McGrath.
Stephanie: Oh. Well, I wish I could help you, but --
Lt. Baker: I've been trying to get in touch with your son, Ridge. I've called the office. They say he's not there. He's not answering his cell. Do you know where he is?
Stephanie: Well, of course I do. He's right here with me.
Lt. Baker: I'd like to speak to the both of you. Can I come by your home?
Stephanie: When would you like to do that?
Lt. Baker: As soon as possible.
Stephanie: Fine. Good-bye, Lieutenant.
Ridge: So, what is it?
Stephanie: Lieutenant baker would like to talk to the both of us.
Ridge: He knows.
Taylor: This is what I'm trying to tell your son. If Lieutenant Laker thinks he's hiding something or he's being defensive, then he isn't going to stop.
Nick: He can go through my life with a fine-toothed comb. He's not gonna find anything.
Storm: Hey, sorry to interrupt.
Nick: No, no, come in. Come in.
Storm: We still on for the meeting?
Nick: Yeah, absolutely. Ladies, if you'll excuse us, we've got some -- some business.
[Cell phone rings] Hello?
Lt. Baker: Lieutenant Baker here. I catch you at the wrong time?
Nick: Well, if I said yes, would it matter, lieutenant?
Lt. Baker: If you're not too busy, I'd like to meet you at the Forresters'.
Nick: And what if I was too busy?
Lt. Baker: I can come back to your office and talk to you there.
Nick: Let's go with plan "A." What time?
Lt. Baker: How 'bout right now?
Lt. Baker: And please, Mr. Marone, bring your lovely wife.
Taylor: What did he want?
Nick: He wants us over at the Forresters' right now.
Storm: Did he say why?
Nick: I think we can pretty much guess.
Storm: All right, I'm coming with you.
Taylor: I think that's a good idea.
Jackie: Me, too.
Nick: Mother --
Jackie: No point in arguing with me, Nicky. I am coming. That is that.
Nick: If you want. It's all a waste of time.
Rick: Hi, there.
Rick: How much of that did you hear?
Ashley: Not very much. Why, is this not a good time?
Rick: No, it's a great time. I could actually use a distraction.
Ashley: What's in this brochure? Are you and Phoebe planning a romantic getaway?
Rick: I was, but apparently, Phoebe isn't ready.
Ashley: Oh, right.
Rick: Is that weird?
Ashley: No, I don't think it's weird at all. I understand that actually a lot of -- a lot of kids her age are holding off.
Rick: Yeah, I've been holding off, too. It's getting a little old.
Rick: What, Ashley? Go ahead. Just say it.
Ashley: No, nothing. I mean, I guess you can't choose who you fall in love with, right? But maybe you should have thought of that before you started dating a teenager.
Eric: Oh, there you are. I've been trying to call your cell.
Stephanie: Yes, I saw that you called.
Eric: Well, why didn't she pick it up? Why didn't she pick up the -- you said there was some kind of a problem. What is it?
Stephanie: I'm sorry you've have to come home to this.
Eric: Come home to what?
Ridge: The police are on their way over here right now.
Eric: The police?
Stephanie: Look, honey, while you were out of town -- Shane McGrath is dead.
Eric: What? My God!
Stephanie: It gets worse.
Phoebe: Hi, everyone.
Ridge: Phoebe, what are you doing here?
Phoebe: Uh, Lieutenant Baker called. He said he needed to see me.
Phoebe: I don't know.
Eric: Well, will somebody tell me what's going on here? Why are the police coming to the house? And what does this have to do with McGrath?
Phoebe: He was following me.
Phoebe: Yeah, he wouldn't leave me alone. He showed up at Mom's house, and she had to get a restraining order.
Eric: How long has this been going on?
Phoebe: I don't know. I just -- I can't believe he's dead.
Eric: Oh, honey.
Ridge: Mother, I don't get this. Why would baker have Phoebe show up here?
Stephanie: I don't know.
[Knock on the door]
Eric: Jackie? What are you doing here?
Stephanie: So, Lieutenant Baker asked all of you to be here?
Nick: No, just me and Taylor.
Stephanie: Fascinating. I wonder why.
[Knock on the door]
Eric: Lieutenant Baker.
Lt. Baker: Mr. Forrester.
Eric: Come in.
Lt. Baker: Well, good. Looks like everyone's here. Thank you all for coming. But I don't remember inviting you to join us, counselor.
Storm: As Nick's attorney, you're damn straight I'm gonna be here.
Lt. Baker: Now, is there a reason why he would need an attorney?
Nick: All right, let's quit with the games. Now, we assume we're all here because of the McGrath case. So just let us know what you need to know so we can go.
Rick: No, no, that's fine. Just -- just send me the numbers as soon as you got them. Okay, thank you. Sorry about that.
Ashley: No problem. So, you were saying?
Rick: I was saying that Phoebe, she's 18. Okay, I get it. But the last time I checked, when you're 18, you're an adult. And I don't see why we can't have an adult relationship.
Ashley: In every way.
Rick: Exactly. I'm not trying to take advantage of this girl.
Ashley: You know what? You have to respect Phoebe for knowing her own mind. I mean, a lot of girls her age don't. Anyway, do you mind if I hold onto this, since I guess you're not gonna need it?
Rick: Wait, and you might?
Ashley: You never know.
Rick: Are you seeing someone?
Ashley: Um, there's somebody I'm interested in.
Rick: Oh? Does he feel the same way?
Ashley: Ooh. I hope so.
Rick: Where'd you meet?
Ashley: You know how it is? You see somebody every day. Sometimes, there's a connection.
Rick: Every day? So they work here at Forrester?
Ashley: Really, it's not a big deal. It's not a big deal at all --
Rick: No --
Ashley: I mean, at this point, we're just kind of good friends, you know?
Rick: Right --
Ashley: I mean, we enjoy each other's company.
Rick: That's great. Um, have you been on a date?
Ashley: We planned one, but he had to cancel it.
Rick: He had to cancel? So maybe he's not as interested as you think he is.
Ashley: I think he is.
Rick: So, are you gonna tell me who it is, what his name is?
Ashley: I don't think I should.
Rick: Why not? Ashley, look, I'm not -- I'm not jealous. Okay, I'm not gonna get jealous. I'm with someone. I'm seeing someone. I'm in love with someone. And that doesn't mean that you shouldn't, you know, be seeing someone. It's okay.
Ashley: You're absolutely right.
Rick: Yeah, so --
Ashley: It's Ridge.
Rick: It's who? What?! It's Ridge?
Ashley: Yeah, I knew you'd be shocked.
Rick: What? It's Ridge? Ashley, Ashley, that's -- oh, Ashley --
Rick: That's -- it's stupid. It's stupid.
Ashley: It's stupid?
Rick: It's stupid! Ashley, look, this is --
Rick: This is me, not speaking as your ex -- your ex whatever. Ashley, this is somebody who cares about you. And I just -- I'm telling you, don't get involved with Ridge, okay? You can do so much better.
Nick: What are we waiting for, Lieutenant? Some people have busy lives. You dragged us over here. Let's see what you have to say.
Taylor: Nick --
Nick: You got your audience. On with your show.
Lt. Baker: Calm down, Mr. Marone. I'll explain everything. Yes, this is about the death of Shane McGrath. I've known this family a long time. I thought it would be better if we spoke here, before the inevitable media circus begins.
Stephanie: Well, thank you, Lieutenant. Now, do you have some new information?
Lt. Baker: Oh, I've got better than that. I believe I know who killed Shane McGrath, and that person is right here in this room.
