Brooke: You don't know how to stop loving me?
Nick: I finally realized that. I was out on the boat tonight and it just came flooding back to me. All of the memories of you and those kids, all those feelings. It was then -- it was right then that I finally understood.
Brooke: Are you saying -- oh my God, Nick. I can't believe this is really happening.
Stephanie: I found this in the janitor's closet. It says it takes stains out of fabric. So, I don't know if it's going to work on the carpet, but it seems to me it's worth a try.
Stephanie: It doesn't seem to be coming out, does it? You know, I can't remember -- oh, I know! Club soda. Club soda takes blood out.
Ridge: No, no, no, Mother. For God's sakes. I'm not going to be able to cover this up. I've just got to tell the police the truth here. Tell them it was an accident and I was just trying to keep Shane from killing himself, that's all.
Stephanie: I understand. Of course you're going to do that. Of course, they're going to believe you, especially after you tell them that you dropped his body in the middle of the Santa Monica Bay.
Ridge: I panicked, all right?
Stephanie: I understand. I probably would have done the same thing. But, I mean, I understand why because of the situation with grant. But, look, honey, I'm not going to let you go to jail for something that was an accident. I'm just not going to allow that to happen.
Taylor: Bridget? Hi.
Bridget: Oh, hey, Taylor.
Taylor: Well, I came over as soon as you called. Is this about my check-up?
Bridget: Well, yeah. You wanted to find out if you could conceive, correct?
Taylor: Yes. Yeah, I did. I was told everything was fine. I mean, I'm not pregnant yet, but -- Bridget, what --
Bridget: I just had some concerns with the test and I'm afraid that it may not happen at all.
Brooke: Oh, I was so scared. I thought I lost you forever. I love you so much.
Nick: I love you too. Part of me always will. But I can't have you Brooke, I can never have you.
Brooke: You already have me. Forever. You know that.
Nick: What I know is that when we were married and happy, the two of us was everything to me -- those kids. But, R.J.'s not my son. He's your boy with Ridge. And that's a connection that's forever.
Brooke: I don't understand. Yes, Ridge and I share a child. But so do Eric and I.
Nick: That's different. R.J.'s a young boy. You're still raising him. Your life with forrester in intertwined. It's simple stuff, Brooke. What happens when he has a soccer game? Or what happens when there's parent night at school and you and Forrester are there together?
Brooke: You'll be there too. R.J. would want you to be there.
Nick: And what if I'm not? What happens then? I can't live my life wondering when you might end up in his arms again -- or in his bed.
Brooke: Oh my God, Nick!
Nick: It's true. It's the way I feel. You and forrester have a son. Now whether it's this situation or something else, the two of you always seem to wind up back together. And I can't risk that. I won't risk it. And that's why you and I will never be together. I'm sorry, I know this isn't what you wanted to hear from me tonight.
Brooke: Look, you want security. I can give you security.
Nick: I have security, Brooke. I have that with Taylor. We are planning a life together. We're planning a child of our own.
Brooke: And what if we were to have a child together? How would you feel then?
Stephanie: Nothing is to be gained by you coming forward.
Ridge: Mother, a man is dead because of me.
Stephanie: No, he's dead because he reached the end of his rope. It's a very, very sad thing that he wanted to take his own life.
[Knock on the door]
Ashley: Ridge, are you in there?
Stephanie: Ashley, just a moment. Hold on, I'll be right there.
Ashley: Hi, the light was on.
Stephanie: Oh, I didn't realize that you were still here.
Ashley: Yeah, I decided to finish up a little more work after my date with ridge got cancelled. I'm on my way home now. Is everything okay? I mean, is Ridge okay?
Nick: Where is this coming from?
Brooke: I want to give you a child.
Nick: I heard that. Believe me, I heard it. The question is, "why?"
Brooke: Why now, you mean?
Nick: Yeah, why now? When we were married, you didn't want to have anything to do with that.
Brooke: No, it's not that I didn't want to have your baby. It's just that I have four children and a very challenging career. And I thought Hope and R.J. would be enough for you.
Nick: They were plenty for me. I made that very clear to you time and time --
Brooke: No, no, they weren't. You want to have your own son, your own daughter and I get it. And we an have that, Nick. We can have a child. Our child. A little boy, a little girl that you'll share a deep meaningful connection with. And I swear, you don't have to worry about me going back to Ridge ever again.
Nick: Brooke, come on, now. You know, there was a time when I would have given anything to hear you say that. But the time's passed. I'm committed to Taylor now. And not because she wants to give me a child, but because I love her. I love the man that I become because of her. A man who is finally at peace with himself. At peace with his life.
Brooke: And you don't think that we can have that? You don't think that I could give you the peace and the security that you need?
Nick: Brooke, I'm committed to Taylor. And if you really love me, I mean really, accept that. Let me go.
Taylor: What do you mean I might not be able to get pregnant?
Bridget: Well, there were some problems with the test, as I mentioned. Which no one realized at the time. But, when it finally came to my attention, I had the test run again immediately.
Taylor: Okay, so -- so, what tests? What were you checking?
Bridget: Your fsh levels -- follicle stimulation hormones. As you know, they test if the egg is viable. Extremely elevated levels indicate, well, a near zero probability of a woman conceiving.
Taylor: Are you saying --
Bridget: Well, your levels are extremely high. Listen, Taylor, I'm so sorry. I know how much you and Nick wanted to have a child together. You know, there are other options.
Taylor: Bridget, you and I both know what Nick's already been through. I don't know how I'm going to tell him this. You know how much he wants a child of his own, and I promised him a could give him that. I don't know how. How do I tell him that I can't?
Brooke: You really mean that? You really want me to let you go?
[Cell phone rings]
Nick: Sorry. Sorry. Hey. Hey, how you doing?
Taylor, are you there?
Nick: Well, what's going on? Is something wrong?
Taylor: I'm up at the hospital with Bridget.
Nick: The hospital? Why are you there?
Taylor: I just -- I got some upsetting news. Could you meet me at your house?
Nick: What happened?
Taylor: My fertility test -- I guess there's some problem with my eggs. They aren't viable.
Nick: Well, what does that mean? Your eggs aren't viable. Is that what Bridget said?
Taylor: I don't want to talk about it. Can we just meet at the house?
Nick: Yeah. Yeah, fine. I'm leaving now. I've gotta go.
[Car engine starts]
Stephanie: Oh, Ridge is fine. It's just been one of those stressful evenings.
Ashley: Yeah? You look a little worried.
Stephanie: Oh, no. Well, no I think everything's been taken care of. Actually, that's why he's on the phone with Australia right now.
Ashley: Oh, okay. So, there's nothing I can do, you're sure?
Stephanie: No. I'm sure he'll call you first thing in the morning. Good night, Ashley.
Ashley: Good night.
Ridge: I just don't think I can do this. Accidental or not, Shane mcgrath's blood is on my hands. How do I live with that for the rest of my life, huh?
Stephanie: Well, I think you have to. Because the alternative is prison. You just have to -- you have to do this. I'm not going to let you go to prison for something that was an accident. Look, honey, we'll get through this together, all right? I'll be with you every step of the way.
Brooke: My goodness, don't they ever let you go home?
Bridget: Mom. What are you doing here so late?
Brooke: I understand that you had an appointment with Taylor.
Bridget: Mother, you know I can't discuss my patients with you.
Brooke: Nick was talking on the phone to Taylor at my house. So, is there a problem?
Bridget: Whether there is or there isn't, I can't talk to you about it.
Brooke: I heard nick say that Taylor's eggs aren't viable. Does that mean she can't conceive?
Nick: We knew from the beginning that this may take some time for you to conceive. And it's going to take some patience from us.
Nick: You hear about this all the time. Couples that try to get pregnant and they can't. And then they get the surprise of their life. All of the sudden, their pregnant with twins no less.
Taylor: No, this is different. My eggs aren't viable, which means the odds of me becoming pregnant --
Nick: I don't want to hear anything about odds. We've both faced the odds our whole life. And we've overcome them. We just don't know here. Who's to say?
Taylor: I'm so sorry. I know how disappointed you are. I'm sorry. I knew you wanted a child so much. Nick, I want you to reconsider the out I gave you when we took the pregnancy test. It isn't fair for me to ask you to stay in a relationship knowing I can't give you what you want.
Nick: You really think just cause you can't be pregnant, that I don't want to be with you? Well, I got a little news for you. I'm in love with you not your ovaries. I want a life with you whether there's a kid involved or not. Now, am I disappointed? I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't. But, it's okay. We move forward. You see, I'm the one who's not going to give you and out. How do you like that? You are stuck with me whether you like it or not.
Bridget: Oh, Mom, my goodness. You know that I can't talk to you about any of this.
Brooke: Taylor can't conceive. Is that what's going on here? I mean, after all, a woman her age --
Bridget: Plenty of women her age conceive naturally.
Brooke: But not Taylor. Oh my God, what this is going to do to nick.
Bridget: Mom, you really need to stop. You don't know anything about the situation.
Brooke: No, I know that he's going to be crushed when Taylor tells him he can't have a child. I know he's going to feel like he can never have a child of his own.
Bridget: Don't you think that I'm aware of that? If Nicole had -- our little girl had lived -- Nick is with Taylor now, Mom.
Brooke: But if she can't have a baby.
Bridget: Mom, you need to listen to me. I know that you wish that you'd had a child with Nick while you were married to him.
Brooke: Maybe I can still give that to him. Maybe it's not too late.
Bridget: Please tell me you're not thinking what I think you're thinking.
Brooke: How soon could you arrange it?
Bridget: Arrange what?
Brooke: The testing. So that I can see if I can conceive a child. I need to know before I go to Nick.
Bridget: Mom, my goodness! Slow down. You need to get a hold of yourself and stop this right now. Now I know you wish things had worked out differently, believe me, I understand how that feels. But whether or not Taylor has Nick's child or not, it doesn't matter. He loves her. She loves him. I bet they're together right now comforting each other. You know, things like this can bring two people very close.
Brooke: Okay. Maybe there are some real feelings involved. Maybe I don't deserve to be with Nick. Maybe I hurt him one too many times. Or maybe, just maybe, everything ended up the way it was supposed to end up. Or maybe even nine months from now, Bridget -- if there is the slightest chance that I could give Nick the family that he's always wanted, then I have to do that. I want it, Nick wants it. Please, just run the tests. See for sure. I need to know if I can give Nick a child.
