Shane: Nobody ever listens to me. That's the problem. Nobody cares about me. I got no job. No money. I got no family. No one's even going to care if I'm dead. Whether I live or whether I die. Nobody's going to notice. So -- to hell with everybody. I'm done.

Ridge: No. Shane! Shane!

[Gunshot]

Ashley: What was that?

Stephanie: Oh, don't worry. It's not an earthquake. Actually, I think that was the freight elevator.

Ashley: Really?

Stephanie: You're not ready for your first trembler?

Ashley: Oh, no, definitely not. I don't think I ever will be.

Stephanie: Probably not. Look, it's late. I've got to get home. I hope you and Ridge have a wonderful evening together.

Ashley: Thank you, we will. Good night.

Ridge: Oh, my God, Shane. Shane! Oh, God.

Nick: Oh -- hey! Thank you for meeting me. Could you have those dropped at that table down here? Thanks.

Taylor: Well, thank you. I was thinking about you all day.

Nick: Really?

Taylor: You sounded upset when you called.

Nick: Well, that's all passed.

Taylor: What happened?

Nick: Shane McGrath stopped by the office building today.

Taylor: What was he there for?

Nick: I didn't give it time for discussion. I threw him out and made it clear I didn't want to see his face again.

Taylor: Do you think he got the message?

Nick: Well, my guess on that would be yes.

Ridge: He was going to kill himself. I was trying to save him. I was just trying to save him. And the gun went off. The gun just went off. I'll call the police. I gotta call the police. Tell them the truth. I'll tell them exactly what happened. Tell them what happened, they'll understand.

[Ridge remembering]

Judge: Let the record show that this cause comes on for sentencing of the defendant Ridge Forrester. Mr. Forrester, you plead guilty to the shooting of grant chambers. You've been convicted by a jury of your peers. Based on the testimony of the victim, I am granting you leniency. However, let me make one thing perfectly clear. If you come before this court again on weapons-related charges, you will not be so lucky. You will spend the rest of your life behind bars. The rest of your life. Behind bars.

[Gunshot]

Behind bars. Behind bars. The rest of your life. Behind bars.

Ashley: Come on. Where are you, Ridge?

Taylor: I don't like this, Nick. If Shane is showing up in your office, I mean, what else is he capable of doing? You know, I thought Phoebe had gotten him out of her life. He's so unstable. And I don't want her to get mixed up with him again.

Baker: Oh, Dr. Hayes. I didn't want to interrupt, but I saw you here. I thought I'd just say hi.

Taylor: Lieutenant Baker, do you know Nick Marone?

Nick: I believe so, yes.

Baker: Oh, Mr. Marone, of course.

Nick: Lieutenant, nice seeing you again.

Baker: I heard that the two of you are getting married soon. I just wanted to congratulate you.

Nick: Thank you.

Taylor: Thank you. Listen, this is a coincidence. I would like to talk to you if you have a minute.

Baker: So, what can I do for you?

Taylor: Well, it seems we have a situation with Shane McGrath.

Baker: Go on.

Taylor: He's harassing my daughter.

Baker: Harassing, how?

Taylor: Well, it's like he's stalking her. He's showing up at our house, he's not invited, and he won't leave her alone, and she's telling him to leave her alone, and he's coming inside of our gates.

Baker: Did you call the police?

Nick: I've handled it myself so far.

Baker: Well, I don't know what you want me to say. I mean, I would have put McGrath behind bars a long time ago, but your daughter wouldn't let me. So, if they're having some kind of a lover's quarrel now --

Taylor: No, no, no. That is not what this is. He's making unwanted advances. He's ignoring her request to leave her alone. What can we do to make him stop?

Baker: Are you sure that these advances are unwanted?

Nick: Are you suggesting --

Baker: I'm just simply asking.

Nick: Asking what?

Baker: If --

Nick: Lieutenant! I'm not going to tell you how to do your job. This kid's bad news. I just suggest you do something about him before somebody else gets hurt.

[Elevator rings]

Stephanie: Hi, honey. Well, obviously, you're not there. So, I was just calling to say I hope you and Ashley have a nice evening. So, I hope you have a nice evening. And I'll talk to you tomorrow. Okay? Bye.

[Knocks on door]

Ashley: Ridge? Hello? Well, okay, I guess I'll just wait.

Stephanie: Where the hell are you going, Ridge? You're driving like a crazy person. You're going to get yourself killed.

Ridge: Come on, get a grip. Get a grip. Think, think. Where can I go?

[Ridge remembering []

Phoebe: Actually, I kind of hate to leave. It's so beautiful here. Just the Santa Monica Bayford Company. Not that you'd want to go swimming her. Apparently, it's like a black hole graveyard for old cars and stuff.

[Truck horn beeps]

Stephanie: What's in that bag?

Baker: Oh, thank you. Listen, Marone. What do you want me to do, arrest him? Shane hasn't broken any laws, at least nothing he can be charged with.

Nick: Lieutenant, if something happens to this girl while we're waiting for the legal system --

Baker: Again, Mr. Marone, we can --

Nick: Lieutenant, I understand that you have a meeting. I appreciate your time. I'll handle this myself.

Baker: Meaning what?

Nick: Meaning Shane McGrath will not be a threat to Phoebe, and I'll make sure of that. I will make very sure.

[Ridge groaning]

[Cell phone rings]

Stephanie: Hello.

Ashley: Stephanie, it's Ashley.

Stephanie: Ashley?

Ashley: Hi, I'm so sorry to interrupt your evening. I waited in the lab for Ridge. He never showed up. And now I'm in his office and there's no sign of him. Have you seen him?

Stephanie: He had a business emergency, Ashley, that just came up out of the blue and he had to take care of it.

Ashley: Hmm. Well, is there anything I can do?

Stephanie: No, but thank you for the offer. I'm sure that he'll explain everything to you when he sees you tomorrow.

Ashley: Okay, thanks. Good night.

Stephanie: Good night.

[Ridge remembering]

Ridge: What's that?

Phoebe: I think it's a key to the marlin. Nick's high-tech security system. In a can.

[Engines humming]

Stephanie: Where are you going? And why are you taking this boat out?

Taylor: Thank you.

Nick: Thank me for what?

Taylor: For trying to help me get through to Lieutenant Baker for Phoebe.

Nick: Well, I don't know if I got through to him. I just wanted to make sure that Shane doesn't bother your daughter anymore. Can we go now?

Taylor: Sure. You want to meet up at my place?

Nick: You know, I was going to take a little trip down to the marlin and make sure that everything's okay. Okay?

Taylor: You want company? Or is this one those "I need to clear my head. I need some alone time" moments?

Nick: I think you're starting to get to know me.

[Engines stop]
