Ridge: So, are you going to give me a chance to make it up to you?
Ashley: There's nothing to make up for.
Ridge: Well, I did kind of kiss you.
Ashley: I kind of kissed you back.
Ridge: Yes, you did. Maybe I got a little ahead of myself.
Ashley: Yeah, we're both adults. No harm, no foul.
Ridge: So, will you have dinner with me tonight? If I promise to be on my worst behavior?
Ashley: What time?
Ridge: After work. I'll swing by your hotel.
Ashley: Could you swing by the lab instead? It will give me a chance to, you know, finish up a few things before we go. Bye.
Brooke: Dinner plans?
Ashley: Oh, hi. You heard?
Brooke: Anyone I know?
Ashley: Yeah, yeah, your ex-husband.
Brooke: Oh. We'll that doesn't narrow it down too much. I have several.
Ashley: So do I, actually. Um, Ridge.
Phoebe: I still can't believe Shane followed me to insomnia.
Ridge: That guy would have followed you here if I hadn't stopped him.
Phoebe: You said he's living in his car.
Ridge: I think he's close to hitting rock bottom. That makes him desperate. Another reason I didn't want you sleeping here alone on this tub last night.
Phoebe: Called like 12 times and stopped by twice.
Ridge: Well, you know, even so, if McGrath shows his face around you one more time, I'll get a restraining order so fast --
Phoebe: Dad -- dad, you practically read Shane the riot act. I mean, he has to know that if he crosses the line again, the police will get involved. Not that I don't love you for watching out for me.
Ridge: I'm just trying to make sure you're okay, sweetie. Okay and safe.
Phoebe: I've never felt more safe.
Shane: Yes sir, I'm on my way right now. Yes sir. Listen, I promise you I will have the account on your desk by the end of the day. I promise. What's that? No, listen -- I know I said that before. I know I said that before. But listen, it's different this time. Please, sir, please, please, I'm begging you. Just give me one last chance to prove myself. Please -- please -- yes, okay. No, no, no -- I promise. I promise. I will not let you down. Okay, thank you. This is for you, sweetheart. This is for us.
Jackie: Well, as you can see, the worldwide boutiques have been fabulously profitable thus far, so much so --
Storm: We can start paying down the debt incurred to acquire them.
Donna: Which was Nick's plan all along.
Jackie: Meanwhile, of course, the launch of the new Forrester boutiques have made much less of a splash.
Shane: Hey folks, how are you doing? I hope I'm not interrupting anything here --
Mariah: I'm sorry --
Shane: But when you hear how much money I'm going to save your company, you guys can start thanking me later.
Storm: Shane McGrath.
Shane: As guilty as charged here. Yeah, who are you?
Storm: Storm Logan. Taylor Hayes former attorney.
Shane: Taylor Hayes, Taylor Hayes -- yeah, that sounds very familiar, yeah, yeah. I can see you guys are really busy here, so I'll just get to the point.
Jackie: Look, Mr. --
Shane: McGrath. Here you go, take one of these. Beautiful lady like yourself, you just call me Shane.
Storm: Or maybe she can just call security instead.
Shane: Whoa, okay, listen. I get the message here. You know, next time I'll make an appointment. All right, look, here's the thing. I work for office waste management consultants. We specialize in all your office needs. We handle everything from recycling toner cartridges to recycling papers. Let me just hand these out to you right here. This spells out everything that my company does.
Storm: You know, we already have a contract for recycling, Mr. McGrath.
Shane: Okay, well whatever that is, I can beat it. I'll make a better deal for you.
Storm: Mr. McGrath, we're in a very important meeting right now. We really don't have the time.
Shane: Well, then you make a lot of time then! Damnit! Just --just--make --make some time. All right, I'm sorry. I'm here trying to save your company a lot of money, and you know, you're treating me like -- like I got leprosy or something here.
Nick: I don't know what you got. But I know it's not an invitation into my office.
Brooke: You and Ridge are dating?
Ashley: No, it's not dating. It's not dating. I mean, it's more like two friends sharing a meal together.
Brooke: Two friends who don't have any romantic attachments --
Ashley: You know, I think he's actually taking pity on me, because I don't know that many people in Los Angeles. Not that I've had that much time to socialize, with trying to get my daughter and myself settled here, and I'm working on this fragrance. Which is a matter of a fact --
Brooke: You need to get back to it.
Ashley: I really kind of do, unless there's something else you wanted.
Brooke: No, no, I just passing by on my way to pick up the rest of my things in my office.
Brooke: Look, Ashley, I don't want to leave you with the wrong impression. I think it's great that Ridge has you to turn to. I mean, he really needs a friend right now. It's just -- he could be really vulnerable, and if there's any kind of attraction, then -- there is an attraction, isn't there?
Ridge: Are you ready to go, kiddo? Being on Popeye's boat is kind of giving me the willies.
Phoebe: Actually, I kind of hate to leave. It's so beautiful here. Just the Santa Monica bay for company. Not that you'd want to go swimming here. Apparently, it's like a black hole graveyard for old cars and stuff.
Ridge: All right. Let's get going. Come on.
Phoebe: Okay. I'll get my purse.
Ridge: What's that?
Phoebe: I think it's the key to the marlin. Nick's high-tech security system. Coffee can.
Ridge: I'll follow you in my car.
Phoebe: Dad, you don't have to. Shane's nowhere around.
Ridge: Well, that's the way it's going to stay, isn't it?
Shane: This isn't about Phoebe, okay? I just want your business, that's it.
Storm: Apparently, Mr. McGrath is into recycling.
Nick: And trespassing.
Nick: You stopped by Taylor's house last night, harassing Phoebe, didn't you, chump?
Shane: I just stopped by to talk to Phoebe, that's it. I wasn't even bothering anybody. For God's sake, man, I love her.
Nick: I thought I made myself clear to you. Stay away from the house, stay away from Phoebe. Or you answer to me.
Nick: Who do you think you are? Do you think you're some big shot? Is that what you think you are? Let me tell you something, big shot, you can go straight to hell. All of you can go straight to hell! Do you understand that?
Nick: Stay away from Taylor and her daughter, or I will put you in cement shoes and have you dropped in Santa Monica bay.
Shane: If I don't get to you first.
Nick: Get out of here! Get out of here!
Shane: Hey, hey, hey, hey! I can show myself out! Hey, I didn't do anything! I didn't -- hey!
Nick: Stay away from the girl! And I never want to see you in this office building again!
Ashley: I wasn't coy before, Brooke. Ridge and I really are just friends.
Brooke: For now, he's just a friend. Knowing Ridge, I'm sure he'll want more. I'm sorry. Not that it is any of my business, it's just difficult, you know, spending most of my adult life being consumed by one man. And then suddenly, it's all over. I mean, not that it will really be over, because we do share a child together. It's just now that our lives are going in separate directions --
Ashley: I'm sure you still want what's best for him, right?
Brooke: Yes. We've loved each other fiercely, as any couple ever has. And we hurt each other deeply, too. And I just want Ridge to find lasting happiness. Maybe when he has time to heal --
Ashley: So, what? You think he's on the rebound?
Brooke: Look Ashley, I really am happy that he's found you as a friend, I am. But just don't rush into things, okay? For both your sakes.
Jackie: Are you okay?
Nick: I warned him to stay away from Phoebe. He's stupid enough to show up here at this office. I was stuck at sea with a guy like that, mother. And he disappears. No one is a wiser.
Jackie: Oh, Nicky. Really.
Nick: I mean it, Mother. He's been warned.
Phoebe: Hey, I think Rick left already. I checked his office.
Ridge: Along with everyone else, apparently. This place is deserted.
Phoebe: Well, weren't you supposed to pick up Ashley from the lab?
Ridge: Oh, I'm sure she's still there. Toiling away as usual.
Phoebe: Yeah, she's really dedicated. And very beautiful, in case you hadn't noticed.
[Cell phone rings] Maybe it's Rick. Dad, it's Shane. What do I do?
Ridge: Put it on speaker.
Shane: Phoebe? Hey, thank God you answered. Okay, listen to me very carefully, okay? You're the only one that can help me right now.
Phoebe: What's wrong?
Shane: Um, the account that I thought I had today, it just -- it blew up in my face. My company, they're going to fire me. Do you understand that? They're going to fire me. Unless, listen to me, Phoebe. You got to come through for us, okay? Just come through for us just one more time. Okay?
Phoebe: I --
Shane: Listen to me! Your dad is trying to fill your head and tell you things that are untrue. He's trying to make it seem like I'm a wacko. I'm not. Listen to me, this is for us. This is for our future, okay? You understand that, sweetheart?
Phoebe: I --
Shane: You see that, right? Phoebe? Phoebe?
Ridge: I told you to stay the hell away from my daughter! You don't seem to understand that, do you McGrath?
Shane: Damn it! How can they do this to me? I'm trying to turn my life around for Phoebe -- I live out of this freaking car! Can I get another chance, sweetheart? It's just that your dad is just trying to fill your head with all these lies right now. They're not true. I gotta do something. I gotta do something. I gotta do something right now.
Brooke: Rough day?
Nick: I've had better.
Brooke: I'm sorry.
Nick: For what?
Brooke: The disappointment you must be feeling. I know Taylor isn't pregnant. I am sorry for you, Nick. But I'm not sorry for us. There's a family I know that you really want. It's right here.
Shane: Are you alone?
Phoebe: Shane? What are you doing?
Shane: Is your old man around? Listen to me. I got to talk to him, okay? I've got to try to get through to him.
Phoebe: If this about what happened at the Insomnia, I don't --
Shane: There's nothing to do about insomnia, it's about you, Phoebe. It's all about you. Everything I do is for you, sweetheart. Look at me. Look at me. I've changed. I'm an entirely different person. It's all because of you. Listen, if I don't get your family's company's account, I'm done --
Phoebe: I don't think that's going to happen --
Shane: I'm done. They're going to fire me. Don't say that! Don't say that! Don't say that! Please, don't say that. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you. I'm sorry. I didn't mean to do that.
Phoebe: I need you to go.
Shane: Please, Phoebe. Please? Just listen to me.
Phoebe: I need you to go and not come back --
Phoebe: I will call security if I have to, Shane.
Shane: I'm never gonna stop loving you, Phoebe.
Phoebe: Security, this is Phoebe Forrester. Shane McGrath is leaving the building, and he's never allowed to return. Thank you.
Nick: Brooke, I want you to go.
Nick: Just because Taylor and I lost his child, it doesn't mean we're going to stop trying. In fact my commitment to that is even stronger than it was. I should also tell you that we've set a wedding date. So, any speculation about my commitment should be clear -- by you or anyone else.
Brooke: You really love Taylor that much?
Nick: I wouldn't be marrying her if I didn't.
Brooke: I know that's what you keep telling yourself and that's what you keep telling me. But if you would just allow yourself to think about what we could have again. If you just give us a second chance, please. I know that we have so many wonderful, magical memories. And I know you haven't forgotten those. I know you have them right here in your heart. And I know you still love me.
Nick: Well, regardless of what we could have, my feelings for you, I'm going to marry her. I'm going to try to have a child. So for your sake, I'd let this go. I'd let us go.
Shane: Phoebe? Phoebe? Hey, I know you said you didn't want to talk to me anymore, all right? Just listen to --
Ridge: What the hell are you doing here? Answer me, McGrath.
Shane: You know something, this is all your fault. You're the one who keeps turning Phoebe against me. You're the one who keeps trying to fill her head with all these lies. You're trying to make me out to be some sort of freak here?
Ridge: Let me make this really simple for you. You get in your car, you start driving. You don't stop until you come to another state. Do you understand?
Ridge: Or I'm going to call the cops and make sure you --
Shane: No, no, no, no! You got this all wrong, man! You got me all wrong! All I ever wanted to be to this family was a friend. That's it. I could have blackmailed you people. I could have brought down the almighty Forresters like that! But I didn't, you know why? Because of your daughter, Phoebe. That's right. She's the one. But you don't even think I'm good enough for her, do you? You don't think I'm good enough for anybody in this family. Because all you see is this guy, this loser in a cheap suit here, who's nothing but bad news. What do you think about that? Huh? How's that look from the front? I'll show you how bad I can be.
