Rick: Is this crazy

Phoebe: It's better than instant-messaging all night. So, what do you want to do, order something or watch a movie?

Rick: Watch a movie, your dad is right behind that door. Isn't that going to wake him up?

Phoebe: He's a sound sleeper. What's crazy is being halfway across the world, and being able to get a second alone.

[Phone rings]

Rick: Your dad is getting phone calls at three in the morning?

Phoebe: Yeah, it could be the office. They're just getting up in L.A. right now.

Rick: Or somebody saw me walking in here --

Phoebe: Rick, no. Look, even if he did come in, you can always hide in the bathroom --

Rick: Hide in the bathroom? Phoebe, I don't want to act like a criminal for loving you.

Phoebe: I know.

Rick: It's the lying and the sneaking around that I'm ashamed of.

Phoebe: I'll think of something.

Rick: We keep saying that.

Phoebe: I know, but I won't let them do this to us. They can't stop that we have before we can even begin.

Rick: Good-night.

Phoebe: Good-night.

Ridge: I didn't call you right back because it's the middle of the night there. Do you know what time it is here?

Stephanie: Yes, honey, I do. And I'm sorry, but I just wanted to let you know that Nick and Taylor have gotten engaged.

Ridge: Yeah, I know. I heard.

Stephanie: Well? Or you can't talk because Brooke's there?

Ridge: She's asleep. What's there to say anyway? I can't get involved in Taylor's personal life.

Stephanie: So, you're just going to let this happen?

Ridge: Look, I've got enough trouble just getting my 18-year-old to listen to me.

Stephanie: Yeah, well, a certain amount of teenage rebellion is to be expected. I just don't want it to get out of hand with you-know-who.

Ridge: Yeah, well, it's gotten worse. The Australians are trying to take pictures of the two of them together. They even brought up Amber and this Aussie boyfriend that she married --

Stephanie: Well, this is the type of scandal -- this is exactly the type of scandal I was worried about.

Ridge: You don't think I know that?

Stephanie: Look, tell Brooke to get control of her son, or ship him home.

Ridge: Nobody can tell Rick what to do. I could just wring his neck.

Stephanie: Just belt him one, that will get his attention. And is Brooke still taking this "There's no harm in it" position? Is this what it's going to be like after you get married?

Ridge: I'm handling them, all right. And another sleepless night is not what I need. All right, good night or good morning, whatever it is. Bye.

Brooke: You could wring my son's neck?

Pamela: Would anyone like pancakes?

Stephanie: What are you talking about? Breakfast has already been fixed.

Eric: You ordered huevos rancheros?

Pamela: Mother thought they disagreed with her last time.

Stephanie: Why? They're just eggs and salsa.

Ann: What exactly is salsa?

Stephanie: It's chopped tomatoes and vegetables, Mother.

Ann: I'll just have toast.

Eric: I'll have Dolores scramble you some eggs.

Ann: Don't let her go to any bother --

Pamela: So did everyone sleep well?

Ann: So you think you can starve me out if you can't order me out.

Stephanie: You know mother, I'm going to remind you that you are a guest in my home. And as such, I would appreciate it if you would act as a guest.

Pamela: I can cook for us in the guest-house, Mother.

Ann: How much disrespect do you think I can take?

Stephanie: How much disrespect did I take, mother? Remember I'm the child that you refused to protect.

Ann: Hypocrite! Didn't I just hear you on the phone telling Ridge to belt someone --

Stephanie: Oh, for God's sakes, mother, it was just an expression!

Eric: Are you all right?

Pamela: Did you cut yourself?

Stephanie: Yeah, I'm fine. I'm fine.

Eric: What brought this all on?

Stephanie: Oh, I don't know, honey. 16 years of child abuse and maybe 30 years of adjunct neglect.

Ann: You'll be holding that over my head the rest of my life.

Stephanie: Well, you know what? I live with it every day, Mother. You can live with it every day, too.

Ann: You are so savage and cruel --

Stephanie: And who made me that way?

Ann: I pity your children.

Stephanie: Well, that's more than you did for your own.

Pamela: What do you want me to do? I can go pack our things.

Stephanie: Yes --

Eric: No. No one is making any life-altering decisions at this point.

Pamela: Let me just get her some breakfast. She's a lot worse if she hasn't eaten anything.

Stephanie: For God's sake, will you stop coddling her?

Pam: I am not coddling --

Stephanie: Yes, you are -- that's why you have no life, Pam.

Eric: All right, you're angry --

Stephanie: Yes!

Eric: And it's an anger that's been beaten and bred into your bones by your father. Well, he's dead, Stephanie. He's dead and he's gone. Look, even though threats of violence, I consider being abusive and I won't have it in this home. Not in my family.

[Cell phone vibrates]

Phoebe: Donna?

Donna: Why are you awake and sending me e-mail?

Phoebe: Because I'm going crazy and you're the only one I don't hate right now.

Donna: And Rick, by the sound of your message.

Phoebe: I don't hate anyone. It's just, it's hard. My dad snaps at Rick, like every half hour. I mean, we can't leave the hotel; we can't go to a play or to the beach, or anything.

Donna: How much trouble can you get into at a play?

Phoebe: I know. We're not allowed to do anything innocent, so the things that we can do wouldn't look innocent at all if anyone saw us. And Rick just left my room.

Donna: Phoebe!

Phoebe: We just wanted to be alone, and watch a movie. This hotel is so romantic and gorgeous. Did you see the link I sent you?

Donna: Yeah, I can see what you mean.

Phoebe: Click on "Accommodations." And then go to the "Honeymoon suite."

Donna: Wow --

Phoebe: I know. I mean, how amazing would that be, to spend the night there. I mean, with room service, and an hour in that spa, I mean, just the two of us. The candles -- I mean, Rick would be a gentleman like always.

Donna: So, what's stopping you? Call down to the front desk and book it.

Phoebe: I couldn't do that. I mean, I have the company credit card and they would definitely know it was me, and they'd have to run it through my father.

Donna: Who made your travel arrangements?

Phoebe: Molly, I think, at the office.

Donna: So -- what if "Molly" called and reserved it?

Ridge: Brooke, people say things all the time. It doesn't make them homicidal maniacs.

Brooke: Look, you don't want Rick and Phoebe to get romantically involved, well, neither do I. Well, let's face it, it's happening before our very eyes. And yes, it's upsetting, Ridge. But what's more upsetting to me is the way you're handling it. Threats, yelling, forbidding, saying things like "killing", "wringing your neck." You know where that comes from, don't you? You know who that sounds like?

Ridge: Why don't you tell me?

Brooke: Well, I'm sure she's not too thrilled that Nick and Taylor are getting married?

Ridge: Are you telling me I'm starting to be like my mother here?

Brooke: Your mother has a very violent impulse, Ridge. And don't you try to defend her, because I've been on the receiving end way too many times. And what scares me even more, is that I'm starting to see that in you.

Ridge: Brooke, you know as well as anyone, one of the most important things of being a parent is knowing where to draw the line. That's all I'm doing with Phoebe now.

Brooke: That's what Stephanie thought she was doing with you and me all those years. Maybe that's what her father told himself, too.

Ridge: Now, I really don't like where this conversation is going.

Brooke: Yeah, well, I don't like it either. Well, I said all that I had to say. So, can we just go back to bed.

Stephanie: Violence? Why, because I don't want my mother here? And I told you that for the day you bought her here?

Eric: Look, you antagonize her. You had Dolores make a breakfast that you knew Ann would not eat.

Stephanie: I don't want my mother here! Why won't you listen to me?

Eric: Why don't you drive her around to these open houses and continue doing it until she relents and moves in

Stephanie: Why don't you drive her the hell around?

Eric: Why don't you stop yelling at everybody? At me, at Pam, at Ann. It does not solve the problem. It becomes the problem.

Stephanie: Let me explain something to you. Forgiveness is not a one time around, like Christmas, okay? It's something that you get up with every single morning and try to do over, and over, and over again. But there are some days when I just can't do it!

Eric: Well, what you are doing is becoming intolerable. You're not just the victim here. You're making everyone the victim.

Stephanie: Have I ever raised a hand to our children?

Eric: What about Jackie?

Stephanie: Oh, for --

Eric: What about Brooke? You're pretty selective when it comes to your targets, aren't you? Like your father.

Stephanie: How dare you compare me to him.

Eric: Oh, and Ridge, it's been clear that Ridge is emulating you. In the way that he's treating Rick.

Stephanie: He -- he's the father of an innocent 18-year-old girl that does not want fooling around with a married man -- a man, who's already been divorced and married. Older than she is, he finds that unacceptable and I agree with him.

Eric: I might agree, too. But once we express our opinion here -- once we say how we feel, that's pretty much all we can do about it.

Stephanie: Well, Ridge doesn't take that position.

Eric: No, no, he doesn't, does he? The position he takes is the one you've always taken, as the enforcer. "I say no, I mean no, and I'm going to mean no for the rest of my life." Do you know what it feels like for me to hear one son say to the other, to threaten him by saying, I'm going to kill you?

Stephanie: Oh, Eric, that remark is just been blown out of all proportion --

Eric: Ridge is badgering and he's bullying. And he got that message loud and clear from you. And now, if he keeps pushing like this, pushing, and pushing, he's going to break something that he doesn't mean to break. Like this glass here on the table this morning -- and it's going to be your fault. Now, you blame your mother -- you blame your mother for not defending you when you were abused a child. Well, there are those who turn their backs, and there are those who stir the pot, and I want you to stop it!

[Brooke dreaming]

Ridge: I could just wring his neck. Neck. I could just wring his neck.

Stephanie: The whore of Beverly Hills. I'd think I would kill you right now.

Ridge: I told you not to touch her

Brooke: Ridge, wait.

Ridge: Shut your mouth. You stay the hell away from my daughter.

Brooke: Ridge, stop it.

Ridge: Get the hell away from her!

Brooke: Leave him alone!

Ridge: If you ever, and I mean ever, cross the line with my daughter, I'll kill you.

Stephanie: I'm not going to let you destroy Eric's children. I'm not going to let you destroy his children! He wants you? He wants you. He wants you like a $2 hooker. It would be over my dead body, Brooke. Over my dead body.

Brooke: It's a little tight. That's tight.

[Gun shot]

Oh, oh, oh! What the hell are you doing?

Ridge: You snotty little

Brooke: Ridge, don't do this here.

Stephanie: Get over here and look in that mirror take a look, you --

Ridge: Logan, logan? It's okay. It's okay. Hey, you were having a bad dream. Easy, easy, easy -- it's going to be okay now. It's okay.

Phoebe: Did it work?

Donna: I never liked "Donna." I could get used to "Molly."

Phoebe: You booked the honeymoon suite?

Donna: First, you have to promise me something?

Phoebe: Anything, what?

Donna: That I'm not setting up something I'm going to regret. That you and Rick are serious about not crossing that line. You know what I mean, right? Sexually.

Phoebe: We just want to be alone, okay? We know. We won't.

Donna: Okay. We just had to ask. And also, you do know the bill will go to the accounting office? It's possible your father could still hear about it.

Phoebe: I know. I don't care. I won't do anything I'm ashamed of. And thank you for being a friend when I needed one.

Donna: Yeah, you're welcome.

Phoebe: Good night.

[Phone ringing]

Rick: Hello?

Phoebe: It's me. Did I wake you up?

Rick: No. I can't sleep.

Phoebe: I did something when you weren't looking.

Rick: Dare I ask?

Phoebe: We're going to be together. Just you and me. Finally alone.

Rick: How is that even possible? Your father's watchdog won't let us leave the hotel.

Phoebe: Oh, I guess you'll just have to wait and find out, won't you?

Rick: Is this for real?

Phoebe: Well, I told you I'd make it happen and I did. Tomorrow, Rick.

Rick: Tomorrow.

Phoebe: Good night.

Brooke: I'm afraid, Ridge.

Ridge: Afraid of what?

Brooke: I'm afraid for us.

Ridge: Look, you just had a nightmare.

Brooke: No, no, this is something more. This is -- it's about things that have already happened, and where they could be leading --

Ridge: What are you talking about?

Brooke: Stephanie -- the way that she lashes out at me. And the look in her eyes before it happens.

Ridge: That's all behind us now, though.

Brooke: That was the look in your eyes, too, Ridge. Up at the big bear cabin with Rick -- tonight at dinner.

Ridge: What about the look in his eyes? In Rick's eyes, huh? I want the way that he looks at my little girl. Brooke, we welcomed him into our life. We welcomed him into our home. There was only one thing that was forbidden to him, and he can't stay away from it.

Brooke: And what if they're supposed to be together, Ridge? What if there's nothing we can do to stop it? I mean, how far will you go then?

Ridge: I told you, promised you, that I would never lay a hand on him again.

Brooke: Is that a promise that you can keep? Stephanie made a lot of promises.

Ridge: So, what are you saying, that whatever my mother's become, that's what I'm destined to become. I don't believe that at all. Come on. That's not my destiny. My destiny is you, Brooke. Your love is what makes me wake up every day. I'd rather cut off my own arm than doing something I knew that you would never forgive me for. Look, I don't want to hurt Rick. I don't. I just want to make sure that nothing hurts my daughter.

Brooke: I'm sorry.

Ridge: It's all right. I think it's better that we can tell each other what we're afraid of. Something that I'm most afraid of is losing you.

Brooke: I just want to be with you. I've waited forever for that to happen. I just didn't want it to be this hard.

Ridge: Well, after the wedding, it won't be. You'll see. Even Rick will be able to see that. It's only going to get better.

Brooke: It will only get better.

Ridge: And I am only going to love you more and more and more.

Brooke: Do you promise?

Ridge: Yes, I promise. Logan, come on, hang in there. We're almost there.
