Eric: Thorne? Thorne, would you return these calls for me?

Thorne: Yeah.

Eric: Thanks.

Thorne: Vendors are calling us?

Eric: Yes.

Ridge: The hottest new couture house in the country.

Brooke: Look at this, Thorne.

Felicia: Somebody left these contact sheets at reception.

Brooke: Oh, those are mine. Thank you.

Felicia: They're great.

Lauren: Will you look at them over there, they're like kids.

Taylor: Oh, I know, you should've seen Eric a few weeks ago.

Brooke: That's very exciting.

Felicia: I know, I know.

Lauren: Yeah, I called him. He was so depressed.

Taylor: Well, you would understand what he was going through then.

Lauren: All too well.

Taylor: Well, I'm glad you're both back on your feet.

Lauren: Thanks.

Eric: I want to see that closer. Oh, Bridget, Phoebe, you're here. Good, good, good.

Phoebe: You said you had jobs for us?

Eric: I think so. Maybe, let me see. Turn around. Let me see. Uh-huh. Perfect, wonderful. You're hired.

Phoebe: To do what?

Eric: To model.

Phoebe: Really?

Eric: Yep. Oh, and Bridget, I have some designs I want you to approve. It's a whole new series of designs. All right?

Bridget: Dad, you know how much I want to help, but I still have a full schedule at the hospital.

Eric: We'll work around that, believe me. Now first and foremost, Forrester originals is a family business. I want everybody involved, including my beautiful daughter.

Bridget: Thanks Dad.

Eric: Okay? All right. So, Lauren, what do you think?

Lauren: What I think is that I should get out of your hair and let you get back to work.

Eric: No, no, now that you're here, you have to stay. Thank you for coming. Having our distributors here has given us a lot of confidence. For you to be here at this press conference after everything that's going on in your life, your first trip away from this baby --

Lauren: You're so sweet. And you know, what I saw on that stage gave me a lot of confidence too. But I have one hesitation. And that is how are you going to distinguish yourself from Forrester Creations?

Ridge: Our designs will be the ones flying off the racks.

Eric: I don't know. Lauren has a point, Ridge. I mean, Forrester, Forrester, it could get confusing.

Ridge: Not if the customers are looking for quality, Dad. Our designs will have it, Nick's won't.

Lauren: Hmm. I know Jackie and Nick, and I'm really sorry that your families are at war, but Jackie earned her reputation in this business, and Nick, he cut his teeth running one of the largest companies in the world. They're not amateurs and they're not going to go down without a fight.

Jackie: What are you up to?

Nick: Hello mother. Research.

Jackie: Research? Inventory? Receiving schedules? Distribution contracts? Nicky, I can take care of Jackie M. You need to be concentrating on Forrester Creations.

Nick: I am. Now these contracts -- how many design houses does Jackie M handle?

Jackie: That all depends on how many collections I think I can sell.

Nick: And you renegotiate every season?

Jackie: I have a few long-term contracts with some of the bigger, more reliable houses.

Nick: So Forrester Creations can't have a contract with everyone who carries our designs?

Jackie: Oh, no. No. There are five big major distributors that handle the majority of haute couture sales. There's Lauren Fenmore, she's Midwest. Then Harvey Golden, northeast. Arthur Harrison, he's the west coast. And then there's St. Julienne in Europe and Chen's in Asia.

Nick: And they all conduct business basically the same way that you do?

Jackie: Mm-hm, yeah. Just on a bigger scale.

Nick: Well, then, that's it. We control those companies, we control the entire industry.

Jackie: You can't be serious. I mean, you can't buy them all. Do you know what that would cost?

Nick: Mother, you handle the designs, I'll handle the business.

Eric: Now, this is what Forrester originals is all about. The best fabrics on the market. The highest quality fabrics. Opulent textures, sumptuous detail. Look at that.

Thorne: Opulence doesn't come cheap, dad. That stuff is pricey.

Eric: Yeah, and it's perfect.

Brooke: Mm-hmm. Well, it better be.

Eric: Look, I want everyone to understand something. This company will make a profit in the end. It may end up being more successful than Forrester Creations ever was. But I'm not looking at the bottom line. Not yet. What I want to create is something absolutely original. Every gown, an original of an absolute work of art.

Brooke: We're all backing you up on this, Eric.

Eric: Thank you.

Ridge: Look, we dropped a hell of a lot of cash getting this place up and running as quick as we did. Let's not put ourselves too far in the red here.

Felicia: Yeah, well, we can't hold back on the first collection either.

Thorne: We have to separate ourselves from the rest of the pack and we have to do that right out of the gate.

Ridge: Look, I don't care what Lauren says. We could design the whole collection out of denim and burlap and Captain Bligh still wouldn't have a prayer.

Taylor: Why do you have to be like that, Ridge? You know, Forrester Creations was a huge part of all of our lives. Why do you want to see it destroyed?

Eric: It's already been destroyed, Taylor. It was destroyed the day Nick bought the company.

Taylor: What? There isn't room for Forrester Creations and Forrester Originals?

Felicia: No.

Taylor: Well, Bridget, Brooke, what about you, doesn't this bother you?

Bridget: Nick's never really been afraid of a fight, Taylor.

Brooke: I guess this is the fight he's been waiting for.

Ridge: Yeah, you can call it that. Nick seems to think he's going to sell based on the name. What he doesn't understand is it's not the name, it's the designs.

Nick: It's not about the designs, Mother. It's about distribution.

Jackie: But Nicky, if just one company holds out, your plan could backfire. With just one or two retailers, Forrester originals will seem that much more exclusive.

Nick: That's why we've got to shut them out completely. Now help me here. Am I missing any other channels? Department stores? The Internet?

Jackie: Oh, no. Forget the Internet. When you're paying that much for a gown, I mean, you want individual attention. These designs, they have to be fitted, they have to be accessorized.

Nick: So the Forresters rely completely on these five big retailers to move their inventory?

Jackie: For the most part, yes.

Nick: What is it?

Jackie: It's Lauren Fenmore.

Nick: Get to work.

Jackie: Lauren?

Lauren: Jackie? How are you? Hi, Nick. I'm so glad to see you looking so well after you fall. I was worried.

Jackie: Well, we Marones are nothing if not resilient.

Lauren: You must be in town because of the debut of Forrester Originals, right?

Lauren: That's right.

Jackie: Yeah. I'm sure that Eric gave quite a sales pitch to you and the other distributors.

Lauren: Actually, he didn't have to. Eric and Ridge are one of the few safe bets in this business.

Jackie: Any chance on taking a gamble on Forrester Creations? I mean, our cruise line, it garnered some quite exceptional reviews.

Lauren: Oh, I thought your first offering was quite confident. I have to be honest with you, though. I am not sure that Forrester Creations can succeed without a more dynamic designer.

Nick: Well, I wouldn't count us out just yet.

Lauren: Oh, I'm not. Not at all. In fact, I was telling the Forresters that you and your mother are a very formidable team. Not to mention one of the best baby gift givers of all time. Thank you. That was amazing.

Jackie: Oh, it was our pleasure. I'm so happy for you and Michael.

Lauren: Thanks.

Jackie: It must be really hard being away from fen when he's so young.

Lauren: Yes. I can't wait to get home to him.

Jackie: What about work? You know, I know how time consuming it is to run your own company. Is that something that you want to keep doing?

Lauren: You mean, do I want to get out of the business? That's a strange question. Why would you ask that?

Lauren: Is this about fen?

Jackie: What?

Lauren: So you think, now that I've had a baby, I should give up my career?

Jackie: No, no. I wasn't suggesting that at all.

Nick: I don't think that's what she was saying, no.

Jackie: No, I was just wondering what your plans were. That's all. I mean, beautiful new baby, you want to spend as much time with him as you can. I'm sure. I know I didn't with Nicky when he was young. Money was tight. I had to work all the hours I could.

Lauren: Right, well, that was a very difficult circumstance. I mean, today, women have very satisfying lives as mothers and businesswomen.

Jackie: Oh, absolutely, yes.

Lauren: There's Brooke. Taylor Hayes.

Jackie: Very accomplished women. And they are wonderful mothers.

Lauren: In fact, I was just with them at Forrester Originals. Eric's getting the whole family together. It's really nice. It's exciting.

Nick: Well, we hope you'll be just as excited about what we're turning out here at Forrester Creations.

Lauren: I'll tell you what, I'm going to send my buyer to sit in the front row at your next show.

Jackie: That's great. Lauren, please accept my apology. I mean, I'm sorry if you took what I said the wrong way.

Lauren: Don't worry about it.

Nick: We're very happy for you, what my mother's trying to say, correct?

Jackie: We are. We really are.

Lauren: Well, thanks, it was really great to see you.

Jackie: Thank you, darling. Give my love to Michael and the baby.

Lauren: I will.

Jackie: Safe journey.

Lauren: Thank you. Good luck to both of you.

Nick: Thanks.

Jackie: Bye.

Lauren: Bye.

Jackie: Nicky, what were you thinking? I gave you the perfect opportunity to talk to Lauren about selling Fenmores. Why'd you stop me?

Nick: She's too close to the Forresters. I don't want any of this leaking back to them. I want them to sink as much capital as they can into this new collection until they find out they got no place to sell it.

Eric: Thorne, I think this is perfect. Thanks. Thanks for doing it. All right? Bridget, Phoebe, I'm going to go down to the production floor. You want to go with me?

Phoebe: Sure.

Eric: Good. Anybody else? I know they'd love to see you.

Felicia: Oh, Daddy, and I'd love to see them, but I really have to check on Dino. This is great, by the way.

Eric: Well, good. I'm glad you like it.

Bridget: Dad, I have to get to the hospital, but I love you.

Eric: Okay. How about you? You want to go?

Brooke: Yes, of course. Ridge?

Ridge: I'm going to stay at the drawing board here. I'm feeling inspired.

Brooke: All right. Do you want me to bring you something back from the break room?

Ridge: No thank you, sweetie. Maybe Thorne would. You and I have some things to go over. We'll see you all later.

Phoebe: Bye.

Thorne: What's up?

Ridge: Did you ask Taylor about the gift that Nick dropped by?

Thorne: No.

Ridge: Don't you think you should?

Thorne: No, Ridge, I don't. Taylor and I are focused on helping Ally right now, to get her to accept the fact that we're getting married.

Ridge: Okay, that's a priority. But you can't ignore the problem.

Thorne: Nick Marone is not a threat to my relationship, okay? No one is coming between us, Ridge. We're solid.

Nick: Well, hey there, lady. You want to buy a frock?

Taylor: No, I'm actually looking for you. Your receptionist said I could find you here.

Nick: You sure you're not interested in buying a Forrester design? I've just been told they could be collector's items.

Taylor: Really?

Jackie: Word of our demise is extremely exaggerated and very premature.

Nick: We've been told that our design team isn't dynamic enough.

Taylor: Oh. Well, that's what I wanted to talk to you about.

Nick: Really? Given up psychiatry? Taking up sewing?

Taylor: Oh, well, no. Not that I can't do that, but no. I'm here to give you a little advice.

Jackie: Right, well, I'll let you two talk.

Taylor: Actually, it's a little bit more of a heads up.

Nick: I'm all ears.

Taylor: You've lit a fire under the Forresters and they're determined to crush you, Nick. And I hate to say this, but when I've seen them get like this, they could do it.

Ridge: Okay, okay, forget about Taylor. What about what Lauren said? I agree with her. Nick and Jackie are not going to go down easy here. You know, Nick's got a grudge against us.

Thorne: Yeah, but what can he really do?

Ridge: That's a very good question.

Thorne: Come after us for using the Forrester name which is ours? Tangle us up in a lawsuit? Or what, try to stop the collection from being put out?

Ridge: That would use a lot of energy. It would waste a lot of energy. He should be applying to get a new designer.

Thorne: I've been asking around. I don't think they're looking for a new designer.

Ridge: That doesn't worry you?

Thorne: I think nick should be the one who's worried. There is no way that Forrester Creations can go toe to toe with us, with the crap they're putting out.

Ridge: Well, Nick knows that. Which means he's going to go some other route to get back at us here. Maybe something personal. Maybe something through Taylor. Look, she's obviously a friend to him. Why else would he go out of his way to get a wedding gift like that?

Thorne: Because he was her patient.

Ridge: Yeah, with a pathological grudge against his shrink's family.

Thorne: Look, I don't like this guy, nor do I trust him any more than you do, okay? But I do trust Taylor. Now if he is trying to use his friendship to screw this family over, Taylor is going to see right through that, Ridge.

Ridge: I'm just saying, keep your eyes open here.

Thorne: No. If you're so concerned, you keep yours open, Ridge, okay? I'm not going to insult the woman that I love, the woman that I'm going to marry, by doubting her loyalty to me or this family.

Taylor: Nick, I'm trying to tell you, I've never seen the Forresters more determined or focused.

Nick: Good.

Taylor: That doesn't concern you in the least?

Nick: It's the fashion business. It's not like there are lives at stake.

Taylor: Yes there are. What about all those people who work for you that have families?

[Nick laughs]

Nick: You mean the six people who didn't defect to Forrester Originals?

Taylor: Okay, you can joke all you want, but I know this is important to you.

Nick: Well, it's not like I'm going to stress out about it.

Taylor: Is there a reason you're not? I'm not trying to interrogate you, I just --

Nick: Care?

Taylor: Yes, I do.

Nick: Well, you must. It's a big risk sneaking over here to the dark side.

Taylor: The Forresters know what they're up against, you should know that too.

Nick: Well, maybe they don't know. Maybe they've got no idea.

Taylor: Or maybe you have a trick up your sleeve or some kind of surprise.

Nick: Well, maybe I'll surprise the whole world. Nick Marone takes fashion industry by storm.

Taylor: You are crazy.

Nick: Well, you ought to know, you're my shrink.

Taylor: You don't even like this business, do you?

Nick: Oh, come on. What's not to like? Models? Fancy clothes. Beautiful, sexy, rich socialites just like those two over there.

Taylor: Bad.

Nick: What? I'm just coming out of my shell, thanks to you.

Taylor: Oh, God help us all.

Nick: The Forresters won't run over me, Taylor. And if they think they can, they're making a big mistake.

Taylor: I don't want anyone to make a mistake.

Nick: Well, I appreciate your concern.

Taylor: It's genuine.

Nick: I know that. That's why I want to tell you this. Things are going to start getting ugly very soon, and I don't want you getting caught in the middle. The Forresters, what they did to my mother, I will hold them accountable for that. And I'm going to hit them like they've never been hit before.

Ridge: Yeah, thanks for the info. You, too.

Eric: Who was that?

Ridge: Rachel at Forrester Creations. They're in full production over there.

Eric: In full production?

Ridge: Yeah.

Eric: Nick is a fool.

Eric: Who was that?

Ridge: Rachel at Forrester Creations. They're in full production over there.

Eric: In full production?

Ridge: Yeah.

Eric: Nick is a fool.

Ridge: Or does he have a plan?

Eric: A plan? To compete with us? Ridge, fashion is all about the lines on the page. Depends on experience and talent. That's this company. Our clientele will follow us. There's not a damn thing Nick Marone can do about it.

Nick: The old man can draw all he wants. It doesn't matter.

Taylor: Nick, the Forresters have been in the fashion industry their entire lives. You've got to trust me when I tell you they're perfectly capable of --

Nick: No, actually, they're not.

Taylor: You really feel like you can compete with them?

Nick: I don't believe I'll have to.

Taylor: You realize you're talking about my fiancÚ and his family?

Nick: Well, if you and Thorne are meant to survive this, then you will. If not --

Taylor: What? What, Nick?

Nick: You're gonna have to make a choice. You know, they're confident because they have talent and experience on their side. But there's only going to be one man standing at the end of this. And that, pretty lady, is going to be me.
