Stephanie: Janet, just put the hors d'oeuvres right next to the plates, thank you.

Eric: Oh, that's beautiful, thank you.

Felicia: Happy holidays, Taylor.

Taylor: Same to you.

[ Glasses clink ]

[ Chuckles ]Taylor:  All you can taste is the bourbon.

Felicia: I know, that's the desired effect of dad's eggnog. So will Thomas and the twins be coming by after dinner?

Taylor: Oh yeah, after they finish their chorus practice.

Felicia: Sorry about my big brother. This can't be the Christmas you had in mind.

Taylor: Yeah, you either.

[ Knock at the door ] I'll get it! Hector!

Hector: Hey. I thought you'd be home.

Taylor: Yeah, come on in. This is where the Christmas party is.

Hector: Me and my timing. I just wanted to drop these off with Stephanie.

Stephanie: Hector! Hi! Merry Christmas. Oh, what a nice surprise.

Hector: Thank you. Same here.

Stephanie: Can you stay and have dinner with us?

Hector: Oh, thank you, but no. I didn't realize --

Stephanie: Oh, please. I'm guessing that Caitlyn's probably in New York, right? With her mother? You'd do me a big favor. Ridge got caught in a snowstorm, and I'm a gentleman short at the dinner table. Oh say yes.

Hector: Sure.

Sally: On Donner! On Dasher! On Comet and Vixen!

All: Merry Christmas Sally!

Sally: Thank you very much for the invite, highness. And I want you to see that I am wearing the locket you gave me.

Stephanie: I wouldn't have it any other way. Merry Christmas. Now come on in, we've got lots of champagne and hors d'oeuvres.

Sally: Ooh, champagne.

Stephanie: Come on, yes. No champagne for Aunt Sandy though.

[ All talking excitedly ]

Thorne: Hey Dad, Merry Christmas.

Eric: You too.

Dante: Merry Christmas!

Stephanie: Merry Christmas, Dante. How nice to see you.

Massimo: Ho ho, lovely lady.

Stephanie: Merry Christmas Mas.

Dante: Here's to you.

Stephanie: Oh, how thoughtful. Thank you so much. Come on, let's get champagne and hors d'oeuvres. I see those. Look who's here.

Dante: Merry Christmas.

All: Hi!

Felicia: Would you like to hold him? There you go.

Massimo: My grandson.

Stephanie: I know, Mas.

Massimo: I never got to hold Dominick like this.

************************************************************

Stephanie: Will you please talk to Felicia. See if you can get her to take a risk before dinner. She won't listen to me.

Eric: Stephanie, she knows what she can do.

Stephanie: But I'm worried about her. She's been up since the crack of dawn setting the table, wrapping gifts. I don't want her to get sick.

Eric: Look, this whole day is for her. Let's just let her soak it up, all right? You made a beautiful Christmas. It's perfect. Now let's sing a bit a little, all right? Come on everybody, let's do some "jingle bells." What do you say? You know "Jingle Bells."

Massimo: Yes, absolutely.

Eric: I don't think it's Italian, though.

Massimo: [ Chuckles ]

Eric: I don't think. Here we go.

Stephanie: Come on Sal.

{Everyone singing}

Dashing through the snow in a one-horse open sleigh

o'er the fields we go laughing all the way

ho ho ho

Bridget: Oh!

Nick: What's the matter?

Bridget: I think someone just registered a protest against my father's piano playing.

Nick: Oh, maybe she just likes her daddy's singing better.

Bridget: Hi!

Hope: Hi Uncle Nick!

Nick: Oh, hi sweetie!

Bridget: Hi baby!

Brooke: Okay, let's go, here we are. Hi.

Bridget: Hi mom.

Brooke: Now he's getting big.

Bridget: Did you remember to bring --

Brooke: Oh, yes, yes. Here.

Bridget: Good, thank you. Are you two not speaking?

Brooke: Oh. Merry Christmas, Nick.

Nick: Merry Christmas.

*********************************************************************

Taylor: Here you go.

Hector: Thank you. Cheers.

Taylor: Merry Christmas.

Hector: Merry Christmas. So Ridge's coming in later?

Taylor: Oh yeah, yeah. He figured, well, since he had been gone a couple days already, and missed Christmas, he would stay a couple more.

Hector: Oh. This is your first Christmas home. I think he would've made a special effort to be here with you.

**********************************************************************

[ Knock at the door ]

Thorne: Hey, Merry Christmas.

Nick: Merry Christmas, how are you?

Thorne: Good. Good to see you.

Brooke: Merry Christmas.

****************************************************************

Dante: Yours?

Felicia: I haven't danced on many bars lately.

Dante: Nick Marone's?

Felicia: You know Nick?

Dante: Yeah.

Felicia: I would've thought marriage would've mellowed him a little. Have you met his wife?

Dante: Excuse me, I'm going to get some champagne.

***********************************************************************

Brooke: Let's go say hi to everybody.

Bridget: I'll be there in just a second.

[ Laughter ] Thorne, can I talk to you for a second?

Thorne: Sure.

Bridget: How good are you with the video camera?

Thorne: Well, I can safely say there's no one in the room who's better. Why? What do you need, pictures of you and Nick?

Bridget: No, well, everybody. Of everything. And then, when Dominick is old enough, I'll...

Thorne: You can show him pictures of his first Christmas. And his mom. Yeah, I can do that for you.

Bridget: Thanks.

Thorne: You're welcome.

********************************************************************

[ Knock at the door ]

Bridget: Oh, I'll get it. Reverend.

Reverend: Bridget.

Bridget: Hi, come on in.

Reverend: I gather you and Nick are trying again today?

Bridget: Trying?

Reverend: To be married.

Bridget: Oh, no. Well, it took us a few more times, but I'm actually Mrs. Marone now.

Reverend: So, did I misunderstand the message? Why am I here?

[ Singing ]

Bridget: I don't know.

{Everyone singing}

La la la

troll the ancient yuletide carol

fa la la la la la la la la

Bridget: Is somebody getting married?

Stephanie: Who is it this time, Brooke?

Stephanie: Are you serious? Someone is getting married?

Felicia: Reverend, I'm so happy you're here. Obviously you got my message.

Reverend: The Forrester-Marone service and the tithe.

Felicia: That's right. Unless anybody objects to having a christening on Christmas.

Eric: Jackie, good. I'm so glad you're here.

Stephanie: Honey, why didn't you tell me about this?

Felicia: Why should my son be the only one in the family not baptized, Mother?

Stephanie: No, I don't mean that. I mean, I would've been happy to help you with the minister and everything.

Felicia: Yes, minister, my mother would've told you a very nice fairy tale about who I am, and about who my child is. When the truth is, I haven't been a very virtuous person. And I haven't led a very good life. I haven't ever had much use for church, and I haven't really ever believed in god, until I got pregnant, which they told me that I shouldn't have been. And then I had that beautiful baby boy, who they told me shouldn't have lived. I guess that's when it all hit me that maybe god was answering prayers I didn't even know that I was praying. And then I found out that I was dying. I don't hold that against him, but he did it again. He brought me this wonderful woman, who's offered to be the mother of my baby after I'm gone. The truth of it is, Dominick already belongs to god. God's made that pretty clear. And I really want to do this for him, because I want him to know that I'm not totally ignorant. I get it. So will you or won't you baptize my son today?

Reverend: The call to baptism comes from god. Who am I, or anyone else, to stand in the way of it?

Felicia: Thank you. Hey, what do you know? You're Dominick's godparents. It's one grandparent from each side.

[ Crying ]

*************************************************************

Bridget: We're having a christening.

Nick: It's your grandson. And godson.

Darla: Excuse me, we're ready to start.

Brooke: Oh, thank you.

Taylor: I tell Ridge absolutely everything. He understands how close you and I came to...

Darla: Excuse me. Guys, we're ready to start the christening.

Hector: Oh, yeah, okay.

***************************************************************

Reverend: Lord, we thank you for the wonder of new life. And for the mystery of human love. We thank you that we are known to you by name and loved by you from before we were fashioned in the secret depths of the earth. What name do you give this child?

Felicia: Dominick.

Reverend: Lord, we ask your blessing on Dominick. May he know your loving kindness all his days. Father, we give you thanks and praise for your gift of water. For your spirit sweeping across the waters that brought forth light and life. May your spirit move upon this water and bring Dominick, who we now baptize, to new birth in your sight, and new life in your kingdom.

All: Amen. Amen.

*******************************************************************************

Felicia: I got you something.

Nick: You what?

Felicia: I got you something.

Nick: Felicia.

Felicia: Don't worry, it's not a Christmas present. I actually had it in the car with me when I came to see you on the Marlin. And when I found out you were married, I thought about breaking it over your head.

Nick: Thank you.

Felicia: It's a good thing we never got together, huh? I mean, what a disaster that would've turned out to be.

Nick: I don't know.

Felicia: Well, if it didn't start out that way, it sure would be now? Right, this gruesome tragedy. Losing the mother of your child.

Nick: But I am. And it is.

Felicia: Yeah.

Nick: I really don't think it's because I didn't care enough. I just don't think that you cared enough about you.

Felicia: I fixed that. Well, actually Dominick did. It's so strange, isn't it? The most important thing that ever happened to me. The answer to everything that was haywire in me. And it came to me from you. And now I'm giving him back. ************************************************************

Eric: Ah. You want to sit with us? Wait, isn't that one of my cookies? I had the green cookie.

Nick: Where's Hope?

Hope: Will you sing us a song, Uncle Nick?

Nick: Well, that sounds like an idea.

Jackie: I think it's a great idea.

Nick: Seeing as I got this special new guitar. Maybe a Christmas song, hmm? Something like that? Let me think here.

{Nick Singing}

Have yourself a Merry little Christmas let your heart be light

from now on our troubles will be out of sight

so have yourself a merry little Christmas keep the yuletide gay

from now on our troubles will be miles away

here we are as in olden days happy golden days of yore

faithful friends who are dear to us gather near to us once more

******************************************************************

Felicia: Mom?

Stephanie: Oh, honey. I'm sorry I've been such a terrible, horrible mother to you.

Felicia: Don't.

Stephanie: I'm sorry. I have been.

Felicia: Don't. Don't you dare stop being a horrible mother. I'll have to stop being a horrible daughter, and then what will become of us?

[ Stephanie chuckles, cries ]

Stephanie: Oh baby, I love you.

Felicia: I love you too Mom.

Stephanie: I'm sorry. I'm sorry.

Eric: Hey you two.

Stephanie: Okay, okay. I need this. We have the whole house full of people and I look a fright.

Eric: You are a fright.

[ Stephanie gasps ] But everyone's here, so...

[ Stephanie chuckles ]

{Nick singing in the background}

A merry little christmas let your heart be light

from now on our troubles will be out of sight

Felicia: I believe I've had the perfect day.

Bridget: I know Dominick will have it, too.

Keep the yuletide gay

from now on our troubles will be miles away

Felicia: Who are all these beautiful people? How little I know about the characters in the story of my life. Where does all the time go? Did I waste it? Did it waste me? They'll miss me for a little while, when I'm gone. I don't mind. It's not so much the dying part. It's just not knowing how the story turns out. It's the missing them. They say that you can choose your friends, but not your family. But you do. Every morning, you put them on, like a worn shirt. Loving them, hating them, it doesn't matter. I chose them long ago. Before I knew anything. Before I was anything.

Both: Merry Christmas.

Felicia: And now I chose you. Thank you for being my story. The only one I've ever had. Thank you for being my heart. When I go to sleep, I'll be listening for you.
