Ridge: What are you doing here again?

Stephanie: Waiting for you. Brooke is gone.

Ridge: So I see. What have you done, mother? Damn it, if you kicked her out of here.

Stephanie: She wasn't supposed to be here, Ridge.

Ridge: Yes, she was supposed to be here. You're not supposed to be here. Why can't you just leave this alone?

Stephanie: You know, Ridge, you've known these two women your whole adult life. You don't need another night to think this over. You don't need another damn second to think it over! Just choose Taylor, please!

Taylor: Gosh, I should've heard something by now. If Brooke really went the beach house, I know Stephanie would've called me.

[ Door opens ] Brooke? What the -- what happened to you?

Brooke: It's nothing. I'm fine.

Taylor: Stephanie nailed you, didn't she? She caught you over at the house. The beach house in Malibu. You can't respect one boundary. Look at you. You're half-dressed.

Brooke: Well, I wouldn't be half-dressed if Stephanie hadn't thrown me out of the house.

Taylor: Are you really that desperate that you would sneak out to Malibu and try to seduce him?

Brooke: Oh, spare me the lectures, okay? Because whatever you're gonna say, Stephanie already said it.

Taylor: Stephanie should be angry at you. And so should I. But, you know what? I'm not going to yell at you. In fact, I think I'm going to thank you. This has been a very difficult decision for Ridge. It's been tormenting him for weeks. And what do you do? You turn it into a game. And it's something that will affect his children and him for the rest of his life. And you're go in, and you make it about sex. I really hate to break this to you, but you just made Ridge's decision a whole lot easier.

Dante: Double Espresso. Very hot.

Waitress: Very hot. Anything else?

Dante: Nope. Thank you.

Gaby: Thomas, are you okay?

Minister: It's a simple question, young man. Either you do or you don't.

Thomas: I'm -- I'm sorry.

Gaby: If you don't wanna go through with this, we don't have to.

Minister: Perhaps you'd like to come back later, when you're more prepared. I got other couples waiting.

Thomas: No. No, no, no. I wanna do this. You need me to do this.

Gaby: But if you're not sure.

Thomas: It's not that. It's just, hearing those words, and looking at you. I didn't expect it to feel so -- feel so real. I just got overwhelmed. I'm ready now.

Minister: Would you like me to repeat the question?

Thomas: No. I do.

Minister: You do. He does. Oh. Do you, Gabriela, take this man to be your husband? To have and to hold from this day forward. For better or for worse. Richer or poorer. In sickness and health. To love and to cherish. Forsaking all others. From now until death do you part?

Gaby: I do.

Minister: Now, the rings.

Thomas: The rings?

Minister: You don't have the rings?

Gaby: Do we have to?

Minister: No. Let's just move on. And now, by the power vested in me by god and the state of Nevada, I pronounce you husband and wife.

Thomas: That's it? We're done?

Minister: We're done. Oh, you may kiss the bride.

Gaby: We did it.

Thomas: I know. It seems kinda weird.

Gaby: We're married, Thomas.

Thomas: Just until you get your green card.

Gaby: But that minister said "Until death do us part." I feel like we're lying.

Thomas: Well, it was either get married or get deported.

Gaby: I know. And I know I should feel relieved and grateful, and part of me is. I am, but --

Thomas: It'll be okay, okay? Once you get your scholarship, start school, you'll see this is all worth it.

Minister: Mr. And Mrs. Forrester? I need your signatures. It's not legal until you put your names on the dotted line. We'll send you a copy after it's been filed with the state. Would you like it in a frame? We have a nice assortment of frames.

Thomas: No, no. No, I think an envelope's gonna be fine, thank you.

Minister: No? All right, fine. Have it your way. Next happy couple!

Thomas: Hey. Don't worry. It's gonna be okay.

Gaby: What if someone finds out? Your parents, Stephanie, somebody?

Thomas: Nobody's gonna find out. I promise. Gaby, you have my word.

Minister: I got some specials here.

Nick: Purse, purse, purse, purse. Purse, purse -- oh! Here we go. Left everything here.

Waitress: Excuse me.

Dante: Mm-hmm?

Waitress: Didn't you like your espresso?

Dante: Sorry. I'm Italian. You know, we're very particular about our coffee.

Waitress: Italian, huh? So, what brings you to L.A.? Business or pleasure?

Dante: Just visiting a friend.

Taylor: It is so clear what you're up to.

Brooke: I am not up to anything.

Taylor: Oh, please. You forget who you're talking to. I know exactly what you do when you're desperate.

Brooke: I wanna spend time with my husband, and that makes me desperate?

Taylor: You can't even follow the boundaries that we all set for one night.

Brooke: I've been more than patient, Taylor. I've been fair and decent to you since you returned. I welcomed you into my home. I even moved out of my own bedroom to make you comfortable. But I am not going to apologize for wanting to be alone with my husband. The truth is, I don't regret going to Malibu tonight. And neither does Ridge.

Taylor: What are you saying? You slept with him?

Brooke: No. But we would have if Stephanie hadn't shown up when she did.

Ridge: Nobody is gonna tell me who I should be with.

Stephanie: Well, I'm sorry that this is just so difficult for you.

Ridge: Well, then stop making it more difficult.

Stephanie: I'm trying to help.

Ridge: You're not. You're interfering as usual.

Stephanie: Look, you may not think you need a referee. But one thing you need is an objective point of view.

Ridge: Oh, yeah. And I'm gonna get that from you? Please.

Stephanie: You bet you are. You know, the problem here is Brooke. She is keeping you and the children from having the happiness you deserve. And that frustrates the holy hell out of me!

Ridge: Oh, you're frustrated? Mother, I came here to get away from this. To get away from you. All I wanna do is spend a little time with both of them.

Stephanie: What are you waiting for, some sort of epiphany? What do you think, the hand is going to write on the wall some sort of divine guidance about this?

Ridge: Whatever I do, however I decide, is my business!

Stephanie: Fine, then just decide it, before she pulls another one of her tricks.

Ridge: Oh, stop it. I've had it. The more you attack Brooke, the more I feel for her. So just keep pushing, mother. Keep pushing. Go on. You're not gonna like the result, I guarantee that.

Minister: Please, come check out our chapel. It's a beautiful chapel. I'm sure you'll fall in love all over again. State of the art. Don't touch anything, okay?

Gaby: Oh, gosh, I'm a mess.

Thomas: Hey, I think you look great, okay?

Gaby: I need to freshen up. Excuse me.

Thomas: Can I get a couple of roses?

Nick: You can have mine.

Thomas: Nick. What're you doing here?

Nick: I was about to ask you the same thing. Your folks here? They tying the knot or something?

Thomas: No. No, they're not.

Nick: No, I didn't think so. Thought I saw your friend -- Gaby. You wanna tell me something, Thomas?

Thomas: No, I can't get into this right now.

Nick: Thomas, is this girl pregnant?

Thomas: No, she's not pregnant.

Nick: Well, then what are the two of you doing at a wedding chapel in Las Vegas?

Thomas: You don't know anything about this.

Nick: Well, fill me in.

Thomas: Not now. Look, if Gaby sees you, she's gonna freak.

Nick: You gotta give me something.

Thomas: Later. Promise me you won't tell anyone.

Nick: When are you going back home?

Thomas: Tonight.

Nick: You make sure you do.

Thomas: Please, Nick. Please, don't tell anyone.

Nick: Okay.

Thomas: Thanks.

[ Nick sighs ]

Stephanie: You can't help yourself, can you? You have to defend Brooke. It's second nature to you, isn't it?

Ridge: Well, thanks to you, I've had a lot of practice.

Stephanie: Oh, well, that's because she's always the victim. I mean, it doesn't matter that she threatened to keep my grandchildren from me. If she said that, I must have provoked it, because it's always my fault. It's always my fault!

Ridge: Mother, you've treated her like garbage since the first moment she came into my life.

Stephanie: Because she stole my husband! And I am just trying to protect you.

Ridge: If you were trying to protect me, you would've accepted Brooke a long time ago.

Stephanie: Never!

Ridge: But you just keep fighting me, fighting me, fighting me.

Stephanie: Because I don't want you to waste your life like this.

Ridge: It's my life! It's my decision! Your coming here was a big mistake, mother. I have had it with you! God, you're making me crazy with this manipulation and your interference in everything I do. And this vendetta you've been holding against Brooke for years, it's through. I've had it! You're done, mother. God!

Taylor: All right, whatever. I don't believe Ridge would do that.

Brooke: He wouldn't sleep with his own wife?

Taylor: No, I think he's smarter than to let you manipulate him like that. All Ridge asked for was a day to reconnect with you and me. Today was my day. Tomorrow was yours. That was the plan.

Brooke: Well, plans change, Taylor. Maybe you've forgotten, but Ridge likes to be surprised. Challenged. Excited. He's always been attracted to women who are secure with themselves and their sexuality.

Taylor: Okay, I suppose that's one way to describe yourself. Stephanie and I might say that a little bit differently.

Brooke: Stephanie isn't doing you any favors by taking pot shots at me. 'Cause Ridge has heard her diatribe one too many times, it's just like white noise to him now. And the more she turns up the volume, the more he's going to protect me.

Taylor: Well, it isn't like her opinions are unfounded, Brooke. I mean, I am still amazed at what you did tonight. I can't believe it.

Brooke: Ridge and I were just having fun. He can relax with me. I'm not judging him or anybody else. Unlike you and Stephanie. Above reproach. Always looking down on everybody else. Well, maybe you are the perfect mother. Moral. Ethical. Purity incarnate. But did you ever ask yourself, is that what Ridge really wants? I mean, where's the fun in being married to a saint?

Taylor: For one thing, I've never claimed to be a saint, Brooke.

Brooke: Well, maybe you should give Stephanie that update. Because she's over there telling ridge that right now.

Taylor: I didn't send her out there.

Brooke: The reason she went is because of you.

Taylor: Because she's looking out for her son.

Brooke: She's out of control, Taylor. She's using your return as her own personal crusade, and rRidge is going to realize that. Trust me. If she doesn't back off, your best friend is going to turn into your worst enemy.

Taylor: And you're telling me this why? Because you're trying to help me?

Brooke: Because I respect Ridge and I want him to make his own decision.

Taylor: So you do think Stephanie could influence him?

Brooke: Not in the way that you think.

Taylor: Well, besides you and me, Stephanie's the most important woman in his life. You don't think her opinion matters to him?

Brooke: She's acting really crazy. Showing up at the beach house, intruding twice in one day.

Taylor: Because she can't bear the idea of him being with you.

Brooke: Because she knows there's a good chance he probably will be.

Taylor: Then why did you come back home, Brooke? If you're you so sure that ridge is going to wanna be with you, then why did you come back here? Why didn't you just stay?

Brooke: Taylor, I went there to help Ridge relax, not to drag him into another argument with his mother.

Taylor: Well, maybe they're not arguing. Maybe you just proved everything Stephanie has ever said about you.

Brooke: Fine, let her rant and rave all she wants. The more she does, the better it is for me. That woman is desperate. Because she's beginning to realize that deep down, there's nothing that can come between Ridge and me. Not even you.

[ Doorbell ]

Dante: I know you said I shouldn't come, but I just couldn't leave without seeing you.

Ridge: Are you okay?

Stephanie: You don't care.

Ridge: What's wrong?

Stephanie: What's wrong is that you'd even consider a life with Brooke.

Ridge: Come on, here. Sit, sit, sit. Please, sit.

Stephanie: If you really cared about me, you wouldn't do this.

Ridge: You need to calm down, Mother.

Stephanie: After everything she's done.

Ridge: Come on, is it your heart? I need to call somebody here.

Stephanie: Don't bother.

Ridge: Oh, Mother, you need help.

Stephanie: I don't wanna be around if you choose her. I don't wanna see it.

Ridge: Oh, come on, you don't mean that.

Stephanie: I mean it! Don't you turn your back on Taylor. Not after she fought so hard to come back to you. Where's your gratitude?

Ridge: Mother, I am grateful. Just when Taylor left, I made a life with Brooke.

Stephanie: Yes, a life of scandal. Taylor is your wife. Don't you throw away this chance.

Ridge: Mother, mother. Hang on.

Stephanie: Oh.

Ridge: Come on. Just calm down. Calm down. Talk to me, here.

Stephanie: Don't do this. Don't do this to me. Please, don't do this. It's wrong.

Ridge: Oh, god. Breathe, just breathe.

Stephanie: Oh. Oh. Oh
