Brooke: You'll always be there for me.
Nick: I like the job. Now, hey, don't let your head start spinning about Stephanie again.
Brooke: I know. I know. I just can't ignore what she said, saying that I would go after you if Ridge walked out on me.
Nick: Well, Forrester's not going to do that.
Brooke: It's just hurtful, you know, to you and to Bridget. But Stephanie doesn't really care who she hurts, as long as I am out of her family. That's all she wants. That's all she cares about.
Nick: Come on, now. Don't do this to yourself. Please. Stephanie is definitely not worth it.
Brooke: It's just hurtful, the fact that she's not really on my side. She hasn't really been a friend.
Nick: Well, too bad. To hell with Stephanie. You need to focus on your kids and your husband -- what's important.
Brooke: You're right. I don't really need Stephanie's approval or acceptance. But I can't lose Ridge.
Nick: You won't.
Brooke: You don't know that.
Nick: I know that he loves you and those kids, so don't doubt that. He's due home soon, isn't he?
Brooke: Yes, with his decision.
Nick: He's gonna stay with you, Brooke. I mean, look at you. It's the only choice he can make. That's more like it.
Brooke: You always know how to make me feel better. Do I really deserve a friend like you?
Nick: Hmm. I don't know, let's see. What was the question again? If you ever need me, I'll probably be on a boat.
Bridget: Where do you get off, coming here and telling me that Nick is in love with my mother? I thought you cared about me, Stephanie.
Stephanie: Bridget, I do, you know that.
Bridget: No. No, you don't. You care about clearing the way for Taylor and Ridge. That's what you care about, even if it means pushing my mom and my fiancé together.
Stephanie: Please listen to me. That is the very last thing that I want to have happen. But I know your mother.
Bridget: No, don't. Don't -- don't start in on my mom.
Stephanie: I know you want to believe the best of your mother, but you've got to take this moment and think about yourself. I don't want her to hurt you again, the way she did with Deacon.
Bridget: She won't! She won't. See this isn't working, Stephanie. I'm not gonna let you drag Nick and me into your war against mom. We don't want any part of it. We have our own lives and our own future.
Stephanie: And I want that future to work out for the two of you.
Bridget: Then leave us alone! I mean it. Nick wants to be with me. He loves me. Mom has even given us her blessing.
Stephanie: When she thought she had Ridge.
Bridget: She does have Ridge! God, it's like -- it's like beating my head against the wall dealing with you!
Stephanie: Bridget, I just want to see --
Bridget: Oh, you want to see? You want everyone to see! You want Ridge -- when are you going to see? When are you going to see that your constant interfering is driving people away?
Eric: No, no, no. I don't know. I don't know. Something is wrong with this.
Ava: The hemline?
Eric: No, sweetheart. It's not -- it's not the dress, I'm afraid.
Eric: Yes, Megan?
Megan: Ridge just called from the plane. He'll be landing shortly.
Eric: Ah, good. All right. Ava, we'll finish this later. Okay?
Megan: You know, hopefully the time away gave Ridge some perspective.
Eric: Yeah, I hope so. A chance for a little soul-searching.
Megan: It's just so sad, Eric. I mean, Ridge finding out that Taylor's still alive, only to be forced to --
Eric: Forced to choose between Taylor and Brooke? Yeah.
Megan: You know, Eric, between you and me, as thrilled as I am to have Taylor back, I just can't help pulling for Brooke. Especially after all she and Ridge have done to overcome everything in their lives to be together.
Brooke: Thank you, Megan. That's very nice of you to say.
Megan: Well, I mean it.
Brooke: I know.
Megan: Hang in there.
Eric: What's -- what's that?
Brooke: The quarterly sales report. Unfortunately, the Ingénue line continues to decline, while the --
Brooke: The Couture line --
Eric: Brooke, Brooke, Brooke, Brooke. You don't have to pretend with me. I know it gets harder and harder with every day that passes.
Brooke: I just wished certain people would stay out of it.
Eric: Something else happen?
Brooke: Your wife arranged a meeting between Taylor and Nick as part of her crusade.
Brooke: First, she told Taylor about my past with Nick and Deacon. And then she teamed up with Taylor to take my friend out of my life.
Eric: Damn it. I told Stephanie to stay out of it.
Brooke: Yeah, well, you know Stephanie.
Eric: I'm not so sure I do anymore. Look, I'm sorry, Brooke. Stephanie is way out of line here. Again.
Bridget: I know that you want Taylor and Ridge together. I know. But it doesn't give you the right to do what you're doing.
Stephanie: Bridget, I just want to protect you.
Bridget: No. No, you don't. You want to manipulate the situation. You're hell-bent on making me think --
Stephanie: I'm hell-bent on trying to minimize the destruction when Ridge leaves your mother.
Bridget: Nobody knows what Ridge is going to do. Nobody will know until he gets back from New York. It's really none of your business. Aren't you ever gonna learn? You've been doing this for years -- pulling at people's strings. Ridge has wanted to disown you on more than one occasion. And Felicia, Kristen -- they live as far away L.A. As they could possibly get. Even dad has turned his back away from you.
Stephanie: Oh, and we know why, don't we?
Bridget: My mother might have been the catalyst, but you can't blame her entirely. I think you need to take a long, hard look at yourself, Stephanie. I'm serious. The meddling and the manipulating -- the things that you think are helping us are hurting us. All of us.
Stephanie: I'm sorry for that. I'm sorry that you -- you see this as meddling. Honestly, I just want to protect you.
Bridget: From my mom and my fiancé? Which doesn't make any sense. You were completely supportive of our engagement. What happened? Did Nick say something to make you doubt his feelings for me?
Stephanie: I believe that he cares about you very much.
Bridget: Then what's the problem?
Stephanie: The problem is, I don't think he's over your mother. He says he is.
Bridget: But you just refuse to believe him.
Stephanie: I believe he believes he is, but I think she has a real hold on him.
Bridget: Oh, for the love of god.
Stephanie: My god, Bridget. They were going to be married. He loves those little children like they're his own.
Bridget: Because they're friends! They have a friendship, Stephanie. That's it. When are you going to see that?
Stephanie: Taylor's seen it, too.
Bridget: What has she seen?
Stephanie: That he cares very deeply about your mother.
Bridget: Maybe that's what she wants to see, but that is not --
Stephanie: Listen to me. She's a psychiatrist. She's trained to see people, to read them. To see behind the words and the actions. I'm not suggesting that you -- that you give up Nick. I'm just saying postpone this marriage for right now. ç just wait until you're certain about it.
Bridget: I don't need to wait on anything. I know Nick will never betray me.
Stephanie: Honey, I don't think he'll ever set out to do that. But when ridge tells your mother to get out of the house --
Bridget: I'm sick of this!
Stephanie: She's going to turn to Nick!
Bridget: I'm sick of it. Get out. I want you out.
Bridget: Get out!
Stephanie: I'm not telling you. I'm not suggesting that you walk away from Nick. I'm just saying, take your time. Don't rush this. Wait until you're certain about this.
Bridget: I am absolutely certain. I have every faith in Nick, and in my mother.
Stephanie: Well, I wish I had the same faith that you have in your mother. But she can't help herself, Bridget. She's weak.
Nick: Stephanie! That's enough. That's enough. Not another word.
Eric: Ridge is in an impossible situation. The last thing he needs -- any of you needs -- is for Stephanie to be stepping in and stirring the pot. Oh, god. Taylor's return is a miracle, and we should be celebrating. But instead, we have --
Brooke: But instead, Stephanie's turned it into her own agenda. To get me out of the family.
Eric: She's so single-minded about seeing Ridge and Taylor back together that she doesn't see anything else. I don't think she even cares about anything else.
Brooke: Or who she may hurt in the process.
Eric: What do you mean?
Brooke: Our daughter, Eric. Stephanie is dragging Bridget into this.
Eric: None of this should have anything to do with Bridget.
Brooke: No, it shouldn’t. It sickens me to even have to tell you this. Stephanie is telling everybody that when ridge dumps me -- and she says that that is a given -- that I'm gonna run straight into Nick's arms, because I'm gonna be so hurt and so betrayed that I'm going to seduce my own daughter's husband.
Eric: Has she said this to Bridget?
Brooke: Not that I know of, but she did tell Nick.
Brooke: And Nick told her that she was crazy.
Eric: She's gonna go to Bridget with this.
Brooke: I don't care if she comes after me. I'm used to it. But our daughter? Eric, there is no reason to involve Bridget in this mess. Our little girl deserves so much more. She doesn't deserve to be hurt like that.
Nick: So, what's she been telling you?
Bridget: You're in -- you're in love with my mother and we shouldn't get married.
Stephanie: No, that's not what I said. I said it would be a mistake to marry now, while this family -- while everything is so unsettled.
Nick: Everything's always unsettled with this family of yours, Stephanie. Just say it. This is about Ridge leaving Brooke.
Stephanie: Well, that's a big part of it.
Nick: And I've told you before, what happens to them will not affect our relationship.
Stephanie: And what are you going to do when her mother shows up at your doorstep in tears?
Nick: We will support her.
Stephanie: No, not we, Nick -- you. What are you going to do when she comes to you seeking comfort? And we all know her idea of comfort is sex. Are you gonna do what every other man in this family has done?
Nick: I'm not your sons or your husband. I promised myself to this woman, and I don't break promises. Ever. I'm more committed to you now than the day I asked you to marry me. And no matter what happens to your mother, or what anyone says, that will never change. You're stuck with me. It's just me and you, all the way.
[ Bells ringing ]
Stephanie: Your devotion to Bridget is touching, and I -- I know you really mean it. But I've seen the marriages that Brooke has torn apart, and the lives that she's shattered. And believe me, it's coming all your way.
Nick: I don't think you could be more wrong about something.
Stephanie: No? I've seen the damage. And because you refuse to see her for who she really is, the two of you are all the more vulnerable. She will come after you, Nick.
Nick: Brooke's family, Stephanie. Do you really understand that word? She's family. And if she needs us, we will be there for her. Nothing more. So put a sock in it! And, unlike the rest of the people around you, we're actually happy about something. So don't spoil it for us.
Stephanie: I'm the least of your problems.
Nick: No! You are the problem, Stephanie. But I can't help it if you're blind. You don't see how you interfere and stick your nose in people's business. You keep doing it, you're gonna end up the biggest loser out of everybody. I promise you that.
Eric: I don't buy into any of this that Stephanie is saying about you. I mean, it's -- it's just ridiculous. I hope you know that. You would never come between Bridget and Nick.
Brooke: No. No, I wouldn't. But I appreciate your support anyway.
Eric: Well, you don't have to thank me. I know you, Brooke, and you are not the kind of woman that Stephanie has made you out to be all these years. We have a lot of history together, you know. We have two wonderful children together. We were actually married at one point. Remember that?
Eric: We've run this company together, and in spite of the differences that have come up about that from time to time --
Brooke: You are always there to support me, especially when I really needed it. And that has meant so much to me, Eric. It still means so much, especially now, to know that I have somebody that I can count on.
Eric: Well, you can count on Ridge, too. I promise you that. I can't imagine him turning his back on you, after everything the two of you have gone through together, after all these years. And now, you share a child together. I mean, that's -- that's the culmination of a life's dream.
Brooke: But Taylor --
Eric: Well, Taylor -- Taylor's a wonderful woman. And as happy as I am to have her back, and as much as I adore her, I believe that Ridge's life is with you now.
Brooke: Oh, Eric, I needed to hear that, especially coming from you. I was starting to lose faith.
Eric: Well, don't do that. Don't you do that. The clouds are gonna -- the clouds will lift soon enough. Ridge is on his way home.
Brooke: With a decision that could change everything for me and for my children. I pray that you're right, that Ridge will stay with me. But there are no guarantees. There's Stephanie, Taylor, who are aligned against me -- I mean, that's bound to have an effect on him.
Eric: Ridge will make up his own mind, on his own terms. You'll see.
Brooke: And if, god forbid, he does choose Taylor, I can tell you one thing -- I am not going to run to Nick. I wouldn't do that to our daughter. But I am going to need some support, somebody to turn to. I'm just not sure exactly where I'll turn.
Eric: I know who I'd like you to turn to. Listen, if it comes to that, if you need someone, you come to me.
