The Bold and The Beautiful Transcript Friday 4/15/05
Ridge: Every word of it. You cannot marry nick.
Bridget: Because you have issues with him?
Ridge: No, because he's wrong for you, bridget.
Bridget: I love him.
Ridge: You think you love him, yes. You think you love him.
Bridget: No, I don't think. I know what's in my heart.
Ridge: Well, it's what's in nick's heart that concerns me. That's why you can't go through with this wedding. It would be a huge mistake, bridget, for so many reasons. One in particular, which i wish to god i didn't have to get into it with you. But I will. I will if it means keeping you from being hurt.
Gaby: You don't have to do this. I can manage.
Thomas: Hey, what are friends for, right? Besides, i've been worried about you. Especially after your landlord told me he'd evicted you.
Gaby: You went to my apartment?
Thomas: Yeah, just to check on you to see how you were holding up.
[ Gaby sighs ]
gaby: Oh, god, I miss my mother so much. But I'm really grateful, to you and your family. I mean, everybody's been so kind, especially your grandma, you know? Not only did she give me a place to stay, but she hired me as her personal assistant.
Thomas: That's awesome! My grandma, she's a smart lady. And you're okay with all this, right? This is what you want?
Brooke: I can't believe this! Ridge actually accused you of -- my god. Why would he do that after all this time? Unless --
nick: Unless what?
Brooke: Bridget said that when a patient regains his memory after a concussion, sometimes those memories come back as if they just happened.
Nick: Really? So all of these images are just fresh in his mind right now. Which would explain why he's not too happy about me marrying your daughter.
Brooke: Nick, you have to understand, when ridge left town, you and bridget were just dating. And when he came back, you were engaged. Now that's a lot to process.
Nick: Believe me, he's -- he's not coming around on this one.
Brooke: Look, i'll talk to him. Bridget will, too. And somehow, someway, we'll get through to him.
Bridget: Look, I realize that you're mad at nick because he punched you.
Ridge: Oh, to hell with that. It's you i'm concerned about now.
Bridget: Well, I'm fine! I'm happy. I'm in love!
Ridge: Yeah, with yet another man your mother was involved with.
Bridget: Okay, that's what this really is about. That's why you wanme to give this ring back to nick. You and my mom are married now.
Ridge: Like that means squat to a guy like nick. Oh, come on, bridget. Listen to me here. You're heading for a major heartache unless you open your eyes and see nick for who he really is.
Bridget: No, I know who nick really is! He's a wonderful and caring man.
Ridge: Yeah, who took advantage of you when you were at your most vulnerable. That's how he operates.
Bridget: He never took advantage of me. He was there for me when i was trying to get over you.
Ridge: Oh, right. He used that one big time.
Bridget: I don't really know what you're trying to do here, but I don't need this. You really need to stop.
Ridge: Bridget, listen to me. Stop. Wait a minute. Come on. I'm not trying to hurt you. I'm trying to keep you from being hurt, the way nick hurt your mother.
Bridget: What are you talking about?
Ridge: I'm talking about puerto vista, when brooke was at her most vulnerable, the lowest period in her life. I'm not going to let you wind up with a man that violated your mother.
gaby: If it weren't for your grandmother, I -- I wouldn't have any way to support myself or anywhere to go.
Thomas: That doesn't answer my question. Is this what you really want?
Gaby: What I want i can't have -- my mother alive and well, and our lives the way they were before.
Thomas: I know how much it still hurts, gaby. The weeks and months after losing someone you love can be the hardest. That emptiness feels like it'll never go away, and it doesn't -- not entirely. But somehow, you get through it, because you know you have to and because there are people who care about you and who are there for you, like grandma and me. Then one day, you'll find yourself smiling a little more and you'll realize that not only have you survived it, but you're living again. It'll happen that way for you, too. Just like it did for me.
Bridget: I know what happened in puerto vista hurt you a lot. It was a really long time ago. I don't see the point in dredging this up now.
Ridge: Well, we wouldn't have to if nick had stayed away from you, but he couldn'T. Any more than he could stay away from your mother.
Bridget: Look, I'm gonna say this one more time -- you and mom are married now. All nick and i are asking for is the same shot at happiness that you've found.
Ridge: So what, i should just let you go ahead and marry this guy? And then what, bridget? You and I are looking over our shoulders for the rest of our lives, wondering if nick's feelin for your mother are going to re-emerge?
Bridget: That's just not going to happen!
Ridge: Why, because he swears it won't happen? Well, I don't believe it. Nick's not over your mother. I see it every time he's in the room with her.
Bridget: I'm sorry, but nick just doesn't feel that way about mom anymore.
Ridge: Bridget, please. Have you ever known a man to fall in love with your mother and then just let it go?
Bridget: Okay, stop it. I'm not listening to this anymore.
Ridge: Why, because you know it's true?
Bridget: No, you know what? You're starting to sound just like amber! Bringing up this garbage about us having latent feelings! And we're not acting on them because they don't exist anymore than these feelings exist for nick.
Ridge: Except there's a difference. What you and i shared was completely innocent. Your mom and nick? They pretty much had a real relationship going. They were moments away from getting married, bridget. They made love, which i guarantee you nick hasn't forgotten and never will.
Nick: You know, that old saying holds true. "Like mother, like daughter."
Brooke: And what does that mean?
Nick: Well, you both desperately try so hard to be optimistic.
Brooke: And that's what you love about bridget, right? Her optimism.
Nick: One of the things anyway.
Brooke: I know I had my misgivings at first about you and bridget, how our relationship might affect your relationship with her. But I can see how much she means to you, and I know you would never hurt her. You deserve a chance to make a life together -- a wonderful life.
Nick: Well, that's not going to happen with forrester ripping open old wounds. But who knows? Maybe he's doing us a favor, in more ways than one.
[ Gaby humming ]
thomas: Excuse me, gaby, do you want angel hair or vermicelli? Pasta preference? My grandma's got both.
Gaby: Thomas, you don't have to go to all this trouble. I'm not even hungry.
Thomas: When was the last time you had a decent meal? Hmm. I rest my case. So that song that you were just humming --
gaby: Yeah, my mom used to -- she used to sing it to me when i was little, and it's been in my head all day. I don't know why.
Thomas: You don't? That's what we were just talking about the other day. It's a message.
Gaby: A message?
Thomas: Yeah. From your mom, to you. Oh, I'm sorry. I guess I shouldn't have --
gaby: No. No, it's just -- if you knew the words to the song and what it meant -- if that's what she's trying to say to me --
thomas: What? What? Tell me. Please, sing it to me.
Caitlin: Thomas, you are not going to believe this! Not only did i manage to score some last-minute reservations to cafe russe, but i even had time -- gaby. Um, I'm interrupting. I'm so sorry.
Brooke: What do you mean, ridge is doing us all a favor?
Nick: You don't see it that way?
Brooke: Look, i don't know what you're thinking, but my focus is on my husband right now. And I hate the fact that ridge is dealing with all that pain all over again, especially when we thought we put that awful time to rest.
Nick: Well, maybe we never did, and that's why it's back -- because we never really faced this head-on. Come on, let's be honest. It's like an elephant in the room. Everybody knows it's there, but nobody really wants to talk about it.
Brooke: You know why.
Nick: I know I didn't like your husband coming over here and making accusations, but I think I understand why he did it. Because he needed to get something off of his chest, just like i need to get something off my chest -- about us and the foundry. The night we made love.
Bridget: Why are you -- why are you doing this?
Ridge: I told you. Because I'm trying to protect you.
Bridget: By making me doubt the man that i want to spend the rest of my life with?
Ridge: Bridget, he is not who you think he is. If he was --
bridget: He would never propose to me if he was still in love with my mom.
Ridge: Then you do understand.
Bridget: Yeah, I do. I understand that you're remembering things right now as if they just happened. Which is why you're taking off on nick this way. But what i need you to understand is that I believe in my fiance. I believe him when he says that he will never have romantic feelings for my mother again.
Ridge: Oh, bridget --
bridget: No. He loves me. He loves me, not my mom. I know that. I know that in my heart, and I know that in my soul. And I believe him. Nick is an honest man.
Ridge: Please. How can you say that, knowing what he's done to your mother?
Bridget: Stop. Stop bringing up the past!
Ridge: Well, the past has a way of repeating itself, kiddo!
Bridget: No it doesn't, ridge! Not this time! Damn it. I'm not going to let you do this to me. I'm not going to let your suspicions get in the way of what I've found with nick. My god, ridge. You know better than anyone what i've been through all these years. All the years of just heartache and -- confusion. Searching to find myself and happiness and just being constantly disappointed. And now, i have finally found something that makes me truly happy. I know that you think you have my best interests at heart, but I don't need this right now. What i could use from you is your support, because I am in a healthy relationship with someone that I trust completely. Nick will never let me down. He's never going to betray me, and he'll never betray me for my mom. Look, those feelings are -- they're dead. You don't need to be concerned with them anymore, and i don't either. And I will not stand here and let you insinuate otherwise. I'm not going to let you demean nick's love for me or my love for him. Ighing them down.
gaby: It's okay. It's no problem.
Caitlin: I didn't know that you were -- I can go.
Gaby: No, please. Stay, it's fine.
Caitlin: Well, I'm glad that thomas found you. He's been looking all over.
Gaby: I know.
Thomas: I -- I didn't find her. She just came by to get some of her mother's things, and grandma offered her a place to stay.
Gaby: Yeah, in my mother's room.
Thomas: Isn't that great?
Caitlin: Yeah. Yeah.
Thomas: And she's gonna be working for my grandma as a personal assistant.
Gaby: Um, thomas was just -- he was just helping me with my luggage.
Caitlin: So you've probably worked up an appetite, huh? Look, I know it's last minute, but I was --
thomas: Actually, i was just about to make dinner for gaby and me.
Gaby: Oh, no. Thomas, please. You go with caitlin. She -- she already made plans.
Caitlin: Which I should've run by you first. I just thought it would be fun. But you know what? The three of us can go somewhere.
Gaby: Oh, absolutely not. You guys, go, have fun. I'm going to be fine. I just got to, you know, unpack and get settled in and stuff.
Caitlin: Our reservation's in 20 minutes. If you want to go, you should probably go to your house and change. Is that okay?
Brooke: I don't want to talk about the foundry. I don't want to relive all that.
Nick: Well, of course you don't, because you're afraid. It's understandable to be afraid. But brooke, the night that we made love, we shut our feelings down to just that moment -- just then, and nothing else existed after that. That's impossible. You just can't do that.
Brooke: Nick, please.
Nick: I'm not saying this to upset you. I'm saying this because there's something that you need to know, something that i've carried around with me since then.
That night in puerto vista,
you were in such pain.
It's the greatest regret
of my life.
All I wanted to do was
relieve that pain for
you, if only for a
little while. But I didn't. I should have stopped, and I didn't.
There's a reason why.
There's a reason i
can't run away from
I want to be honest with
you about my feelings
Forrester's right. When i'm in the same room as you, I'm reminded of how my life changed when i found you. I went from a man in search of something to a man who felt what it was like to fall in love, to finally let somebody in for the first time. And that somebody was you. You touched my heart. You know, I think of all of the things I felt, things that we've done together, memories on the island, the first time that you told me that you loved me
and going to hawaii
with little hope. Those are special memories. We were going to have a childp together. A little tough to forget that. All those memories, they're still there with me.
Brooke: They'reith me, too, but --
nick: But that's exactly all they are. They're memories. That's all they ever can be, 'cause when forrester came into the picture, I knew it was over for us. Or that's what i thought at the time.
Brooke: What -- what are you trying to say? You just proposed to my daughter. I don't understand where this is all going. Why did you bring this up?
Nick: Well, like I said before, there is a reason.
Brooke: A reason for what? Tell me, nick? Do you still have feelings for me? Are you still in love with me? Is that what this is all about?
