[ Recorded message plays ]

Ridge: Considering everything you've said and everything we've been through -- I've decided we're better off apart.  That goes for me and my family, too.  They turned their backs on me.   Now I'm turning my back on all of you.  I'm getting on with my life. You should get on with yours.

Nick: I don't believe it.

Massimo: Play the message again.

Brooke: Why? You heard what he said. Ridge isn't coming home.

*********************************************************************

Stephanie: Hi, Tom.

Thomas: Hey.

Stephanie: You know, it was very nice of your father to come to the funeral.

Caitlin: Well, he always does. Whenever anybody's lost in a rescue.

Stephanie: These are all Helen's friends and neighbors. They've had such nice things to say about her. She was really loved. Really loved.

Thomas: You know, for so many years it was just my grandma and Helen living alone in this house.

Stephanie: Believe me, I know how much you miss her.

Woman: Thank you. It was so kind of you to open your home to us, Mrs. Forrester.

Stephanie: Oh, not at all. Please.

Man: Helen always spoke so highly of you.

Stephanie: That's nice to hear. She meant a lot to me. She was a wonderful person.

Caitlin: Can I offer you guys anything?

Woman: No.

Man: Thank you.

Eric: Hey. How're you holding up?

Stephanie: Oh, I'm fine.

Eric: You alright?

Stephanie: Uh-hmm.

Eric: I mean, after that message from Ridge? And now all this?

Stephanie: Honey, there isn't anything we can do about Ridge right now. All we can try to do is give these nice people some comfort. Have you seen Gabi?

Eric: No, no. She's not here yet.

Stephanie: Really? She should be. She should see her mother's friends and neighbors and know how much her mother was loved.

[ Church bells ringing ]

************************************************************************

Natalie: Morgan, what is go --

Morgan: Keep your voice down. Ridge is sleeping.

Natalie: Ridge should be back in Los Angeles with his wife and family.

Morgan: Well, he's not ready to go.

Natalie: You mean, you're not ready to let him go.

Morgan: I didn't give him . I didn't make him lose his memory.

Natalie: And he'll get it back. You're just delaying the inevitable.

Morgan: No, his wife threw him out. He was in that bar because they were fighting.

Natalie: And you think that justifies what you've done?

Morgan: I think there's a reason why we were both in the bar that night.

Natalie: This is fate?

Morgan: No, this is what I deserve. Mother, you don't understand. Ridge and I were happy once. We were in love. Until Stephanie took everything good away from us. But now, Ridge and I have another chance.

Natalie: A chance for what? He doesn't even know who you are.

Morgan: Well, he knows I care about him. He feels it.

Natalie: Well, how's he going to feel when he realizes you've been deceiving him?

Morgan: I know what I'm doing, Mother!

Natalie: Then explain it to me. Because I don't understand. Please, Morgan. What are you up to? What are you planning?

************************************************************************

Massimo: Ridge would never abandon you, Brooke.

Brooke: I know. It just doesn't seem possible.

Nick: That's because it's not. It's just not.

Massimo: He said he needed time to think.

Brooke: He said, "we're better off apart." He's turning his back on our family.

Massimo: Look, Brooke, he is just lashing out. Okay? I mean, but they're just words. You'll see.

Brooke: Massimo, he hasn't been home in days. He missed hope's recital. His mother was in the hospital. And he still didn't come back.

Nick: At least he contacted you.

Brooke: By phone message and e-mail. That isn't exactly contact.

Massimo: You're right. It is cowardice. And one thing my son is not is a coward, Brooke. He is, after all, a Marone. All right? He has a duty to his family. He would never walk away from you and the children.

******************************************************

Stephanie: Gabi --

Stephanie: Gabi -- Gabi, I'm so glad that you're here. Everyone's been asking for you.

Gabrielle: I can't talk to anybody right now.

Stephanie: That's all right. They know what you're going through, honey. Look, I know you need some time. This is all so overwhelming. Gabi, please don't turn away from the people that want to help you. If there's anything that you need, anything that we can do -- just ask, please.

*******************************************************

Morgan: Why do you always think the worst of me, mother?

Natalie: I'm concerned about you, Morgan. You're making a mistake. On that could land you back in the institution.

Morgan: Do you think I'm crazy?

Natalie: No. Oh, no. It's just you're caught up in a fantasy. It -- it's not real. It won't last. The best thing you can do is take Rridge back to Los Angeles. Deliver him to his family and hope they'll show you some mercy.

Morgan: And when has that family ever showed me anything but hatred and disrespect?

Natalie: I'm not talking about Stephanie. I'm talking about his wife and children. Think about them, Morgan. They need their father.

Morgan: And they'll get him. As soon as I get what I need to be healthy again.

Natalie: You -- you -- obsessing over ridge just isn't going to accomplish that.

Morgan: I want what was mine, Mother. I want what was stolen from me.

Natalie: A baby? You want -- you want ridge's baby.

*****************************************************************

Massimo: There must be another explanation.

Brooke: I don't want to believe it either. Every fiber in my being tells me that this is wrong. That he wouldn't leave us. And then I think about what he said. Am I just fooling myself? Am I just telling myself that everything's going to be okay? That he wouldn't leave the kids and me. The husband that I've loved all of my life. The man I planned a future with -- could he really do that? Could he just walk away from everything that we built together? Could he? Am I wrong about my instincts? About everything that I believed? Am I wrong about his commitment to our marriage, to our family, our children?

Massimo: No! Absolutely not.

Nick: Brooke, now, he loves you. You can't give up on that.

Brooke: He said that he's going to move on with his life and that I should move on with mine.

Nick: But I can't believe that -- that he meant that. Not really.

Brooke: Well, then he should be here to explain it. My god, what am I going to tell the children?

Massimo: Nothing. You are not going to raise those children without a father, Brooke. I don't know what is going on right now with him, okay? But I am going to find him and I am going to bring him home.

*******************************************************************************

Hector: Helen's daughter?

Thomas: Yeah. Gabriella.

Caitlin: Maybe we should go talk to her.

Hector: Not now, honey. I don't think she'd even hear you.

Caitlin: I can't imagine what she must be going through. I mean, losing her mom like that. Oh, I'm sorry. That's right, of course, you know.

Thomas: You know, the day of the funeral everybody kept telling meow sorry they were. What a great person my mom was.

Caitlin: That didn't make you feel better?

Thomas: What, talking about her in the past tense?

Caitlin: Yeah, but you saw how much everyone cared about her.

Thomas: No. No. They didn't know her like I did. They didn't need her.

Stephanie: Excuse me, everyone. We want to thank you all for being here today. On behalf of my husband and myself and, of course, Helen's wonderful daughter, Gabi. We want you to know how much we appreciate your being here to honor Helen. But of course you would be -- you're her closest friends. She was so important to you. So important to all of us. And she had such an impact on our lives. She was a very special, special woman.

******************************************************

Natalie: Morgan, you can't be serious. You don't need to have a baby with Ridge.

Morgan: I need to fill this emptiness.

Natalie: Darling, that emptiness is a psychological problem. It's all in your head.

Morgan: No. I can feel it. And I have felt it every single day since my baby was stolen from me.

Natalie: You suffered a terrible loss at a very young age. And that kind of trauma leaves emotional scars.

Morgan: And it went away when I got pregnant again. I was happy.

Natalie: Yeah. But it didn't make you whole. It didn't make you better.

Morgan: That's because I lost that baby, too. You don't understand, mother. It's as if my child has been kidnapped. I have been searching for her ever since then. And I know that she is out there. And at night, I can hear her crying. And when I close my eyes, I can almost see her. So tiny. And so perfect. And so helpless. You see, Mother, this baby is a part of me.

Natalie: But you can have another child. With another man. A real family of your own.

Morgan: No. I want the baby that was stolen from me, mother. It's the only way.

Natalie: No. It's not. It's not the answer.

Morgan: Oh, now you have answers for me? Now you want to help me?

Natalie: Yes. And you can depend on me. We'll work through this together.

Morgan: Well, maybe if you were there when I was 17, mother. Maybe I wouldn't have had to go to Stephanie for advice. And maybe she wouldn't have manipulated me, and Ridge and I might be a family today. If you hadn't been so busy with your career.

Natalie: And I regret that deeply. But I can't right that wrong by going along with this.

Morgan: All you have to do is keep your mouth shut.

Natalie: And let you trick a helpless man into impregnating you? How is that different from what Stephanie did to you?

Morgan: I'm not stealing anything from him. I'm not trying to ruin his life. I'll send him back to L.A. After I get what I need.

Natalie: You mean you'll -- you will take him back to Los Angeles?

Morgan: Yeah. I'll never bother him again.

Natalie: And you'll stop with this obsession and -- and go on with your life?

Morgan: Yeah. And Ridge can go on with his. He doesn't even need to know about this baby. Mother, I need this more than I've ever needed anything ever. So, please, don't stand in my way.

***************************************************************

Brooke: Massimo, thank you. But I already thought about hiring a private investigator.

Nick: Investigator? Did you do it?

Brooke: Ridge made it very clear -- he doesn't want to be found.

Massimo: Ridge hasn't made anything clear.

Brooke: He said that he doesn't want to be with us.

Massimo: This is where he belongs.

Brooke: But if this isn't what he wants --

Massimo: Look, he doesn't know what he wants, Brooke. He's simply not acting like himself. All right? I mean, turning his back on his family, his obligations -- no, no, no, no, no. There must be more to it.

Brooke: I know. I thought that, too. But then, I have to wonder. Maybe I'm just deluding myself. Making up excuses because I don't want to deal with the truth.

Nick: What Forrester is doing just doesn't make sense.

Brooke: He expected me to believe in him and I didn't.

Massimo: What is this? Some kind of punishment?

Nick: It seems to me like the wrong person is being punished.

Massimo: Brooke, listen to me. Please. Okay. You're upset. All right? That's understandable. I mean, Ridge's behavior, the message. It would be very easy for you right now to lose faith. Okay? But you can't. Believe me, I know my son. I know how much he loves you and the family and his children. Okay? Now, there's got to be another explanation for his disappearance. And I promise you, I am going to find out what it is.

**************************************************************************

Natalie: Bye.

Morgan: My baby. When your life ended, mine nearly did, too. But now, we have a chance for new beginnings. A new beginning for both of us.

**********************************************************

Massimo: I want you to put a trace on my son's cell phone, his credit cards and passport.

Brooke: You think he might be out of the country?

Nick: It's best to cast a wide net.

Massimo: I also want you to make sure that you make out a list, okay? And on that list I want all his contacts and business associates. I don't care who they are or wherever they are.

Nick: Don't worry about him, okay? The old man's on it.

Brooke: You really think he can find Ridge?

Nick: He could find Jimmy Hoffa.

Brooke: I can tell you, it is kind of a relief to have somebody like that on top of it.

Nick: Well, he has a talent for it. Don't worry, he'll get Forrester back here. Until then, I got things handled. I know I told you this before, but whatever you and the kids need, I'll take care of it.

Massimo: All right. I've got my best people on the job. It shouldn't be long before the leads start rolling in.

Brooke: Thank you. I can't tell you how much your help means to me. Both of you.

Massimo: That's what family is for, Brooke. Look, I realize that we've had our problems in the past, okay? But, you married a Marone. Which makes you one of us. And this family takes care of each other.

*********************************************************************

Stephanie: Helen was a strong woman. She had a wonderful sense of what's right and what's wrong. And she sure had some strong opinions, too. It took Helen a long time to get into this country. But she was determined. She was really determined. She never gave up. And she sacrificed a lot to come here. She gave up everything that she knew. Her family, her country, her home. But she got here because of just pure determination. She made it to this country. She came alone. A single mother with a little baby girl. And she came because she wanted her daughter to have a chance for an education she knew that she would never have. Everything she did, she did for Gabi. I admire her as I have admired few people in my life. I just loved her. Gabi -- Gabi --

Gabrielle: Leave me alone.

Stephanie: Gabi, don't go. Please don't. I'm sorry. I shouldn't have spoken. I was out of turn and you're angry. Just forgive me, please.

Gabrielle: That's not what I mean. You're right. You're right. I was my mom's everything. Everything she did was for me. And now I'm never, ever, ever going to get the chance to tell her thank you. I just want her back. Please bring her back.

Stephanie: Oh, honey, I wish I could. God, I wish I could bring her back for you.

Gabrielle: I just want my mommy.
