Brooke: Ridge, it's me again. Just another reminder that hope's recital is this morning. And she's counting on you, you know? Whatever's going on between us, we can't let this affect the children. You can't let hope down. You won't. You'll be here. I know you will. There's my little starlet. Look at you.

Hope: Where's daddy? He said he'd bring me a lollipop.

Brooke: I just called him. And he'll be home soon, okay?

[ Doorbell rings ]

Catherine: Good morning, ms. Stewart.

Ms. Stewart: Hi.

Catherine: Welcome, come on in.

Ms. Stewart: Oh, hello, Mrs. Forrester.

Brooke: Ms. Stewart. Hi.

Ms. Stewart: Thank you again for opening your home for the children's recital.

Brooke: It's my pleasure.

Mother: Ready for the big show?

Brooke: Carol, Dave. So good to see you again.

Father: You, too. Is your husband here? I'm looking forward to finally meeting him.

Brooke: Oh, uh, well, he got caught up with something. But, yeah, he should be here soon.

Father: Okay.

Brooke: Please, help yourselves. Hurry, Ridge. Please, hurry.

*************************************************************************

Morgan: What's wrong? You should be relieved.

Ridge: Relieved?

Morgan: Yeah, the CT scan that my mom ran showed that you have no internal bleeding or permanent brain damage. You're going to be fine.

Ridge: I still can't remember a thing.

Morgan: You heard what my mom said. A post-concussion syndrome can last for weeks, even months. But the worst thing you could do is stress out about it. What you need to do is just enjoy this time off. You deserve it, after everything you've been through.

Ridge: That's just it. I don't remember what I've been through. But I don't know what I'd do without your help.

Morgan: Good thing you don't have to find out.

Ridge: You know  I'm feeling something I haven't felt in a long time.

Morgan: What's that?

Ridge: Hungry. Let's go out and get something. I saw this cute little cafe when we were coming back.

Morgan: No. No, why don't we order room service? You don't want to overdo it.

Ridge: Whatever you'd like.

************************************************************************

Stephanie: What? What are you saying? Oh, honey -- the two of you deserve a wonderful evening away. Listen, I just want to tell you this. I have to take Helen home before I come down to you. Okay. So tell that beautiful baby of yours, grandma will be there soon. Okay, honey. Bye.

Bridget: Hi.

Stephanie: Hi!

Bridget: So you're baby-sitting Alexandria?

Stephanie: I am. Thorne and Darla are going to drive up the coast and have a romantic evening at a bed and breakfast.

Bridget: Oh, that's great. I keep meaning to visit her.

Stephanie: Well, come over and spend the evening with me.

Bridget: Oh, well, that's sweet. But, I --

Stephanie: Oh, have a date?

Bridget: Yeah, that's the plan. Although Nick doesn't know about it yet.

Stephanie: Oh.

Bridget: Well, he -- he kind of took me on this romantic plane Ride the other night, so -- I just kind of thought that I would return the favor with my own little surprise.

Stephanie: That's a beautiful necklace.

Bridget: It is, isn't it?

Stephanie: So is this, um -- is this getting serious between the two of you?

Bridget: Yeah.

Stephanie: And that's okay with you?

Bridget: Yeah! No, it's more than okay. I'm -- I'm just crazy about him.

Stephanie: Well, forgive me for saying this, but -- he does have a history with your mother and with Felicia.

Bridget: I know. And I agree. I -- I know. That's why I put all my concerns out on the table.

Stephanie: And what did he say?

Bridget: Well, he listened to me. And he looked me in the eye and said that he would never do anything to hurt me. And he wanted to be with me. I believe him.

Stephanie: He seems to be an honest fellow. So if he's given you his word, I guess that's good enough.

Bridget: He is. He's just -- he's wonderful, Stephanie. And he's -- he's singular. No, actually, there's not a word in the English language that describes him. He's -- oh, what?

Stephanie: It sounds to me like you're falling in love with him. Or have you already fallen for him?

Bridget: I'm trying not to overanalyze everything and just go with the flow and nurture it and see what it blossoms into.

Stephanie: You? Ms. Control, going with the flow?

Bridget: I know. I know. Hard to believe, right? But Nick is teaching me, and I'm learning to relax and trust again.

Stephanie: Well, that can't be easy for you. Especially after what Deacon did.

Bridget: Well, I was just so young when I married deacon. I don't even think I knew what love was then. I was just really into that all-consuming passion. You know, like mom has for Ridge.

Stephanie: Well, maybe that explains the confusion in your feelings, then, for Ridge.

Bridget: Hmm. Maybe, I don't know. All I know is that I'm not confused anymore. And I'm -- I'm in love.

Stephanie: That's what I thought.

Bridget: Wow, lookie there -- you were right. I'm head-over-heels in love with Nick. Are you happy?

Stephanie: I'm happy if you're happy.

Bridget: Well, I am. I'm very happy. It's just --

Stephanie: It's just what?

Bridget: You know, it's just -- I feel weird. Being so happy, and mom and Ridge aren't even talking.

Stephanie: Well, don't you feel guilty about that, okay?

Bridget: I -- I just want them to be happy, too. And I feel like they would be if it wasn't for me.

Stephanie: Bridget, they are two adults, and they are responsible for their own actions. This is not your fault. So don't worry about it, all right? Ridge has his feelings hurt. He needs some time to think it through, to cool off, and then he'll be home.

Bridget: I really hope that you're right.

Stephanie: His wife and his children mean everything to him. There isn't anyplace that he would rather be. Believe me.

***************************************************************

[ Morgan thinking to herself ]

Morgan: You poor thing. Brooke's obviously put you through the wringer. She doesn't deserve you.

Ridge: Morgan?

Morgan: What?

Ridge: You're not eating?

Morgan: I'm not hungry, I guess.

Ridge: I guess it is kind of late for dinner, huh?

Morgan: What? Do you need to set your watch to Venice time?

Ridge: No. No, I just -- I feel like there's something else going on. Some place I'm supposed to be.

Morgan: Don't worry, honey. You're exactly where you need to be -- right here, with me.

********************************************************************

Up above the world so high like a diamond in the sky twinkle, twinkle, little star how I wonder what you are

[ Applause ]

Ms. Stewart: Good job. Okay, go sit down. Last, but certainly not least, we have a number for you that's sure to be as sweet as the girl performing it. "The good ship lollipop," by Hope Forrester. You ready, Hope?

Nick: Hang on to these, will you? Is this what you're waiting for? Okay.

On the good ship lollipop it's a sweet trip to a candy shop

where bon-bons play on the sunny beach of peppermint bay

lemonade stands everywhere crackerjack bands fill the air

and there you are happy landing on a chocolate bar

[ Applause ]

Nick: Hey, hey, hey! Come here. Oh, my gosh, you were so good! What's next, Broadway, huh? No? You can have your own review, we'll write you some songs.

Brooke: How could you do this to her, Ridge? How could you do this?

*********************************************************

Bridget: I'm sure you're right. I can't imagine Ridge ever leaving mom. He just better make it to Hope's recital.

Stephanie: He's never let the children down before, I can't imagine he would do that now.

Helen: Excuse me, I don't mean to interrupt.

Stephanie: Oh, not at all, Helen. Are you ready to go?

Helen: Whenever you are.

Stephanie: I have to drive her home before I go over to Thorne's.

Bridget: Oh, is your car in the shop?

Helen: My daughter has it. She's thinking of applying to Stanford, so she's gone up there for a look.

Bridget: Oh, she taking the campus tour?

Helen: Yes.

Bridget: I cannot believe that Gabrielle is old enough to go to college!

Helen: I can't believe it either. And Mrs. Forrester very kindly got her a laptop for her birthday.

Stephanie: Oh, shh.

Helen: I can't wait to see the look on her face.

Stephanie: Let's go.

Bridget: Oh, here Helen, let me get the door for you.

Helen: Thank you.

Bridget: It was good to see you. Please tell Gabrielle "good luck" from me.

Helen: I will. Thank you. Bye-bye.

Bridget: Any you, give Alexandria a kiss.

Stephanie: I will, sweetheart. Have a nice evening.

Bridget: You, too.

*************************************************************************

Morgan: You feel better?

Ridge: Yeah. My head still really hurts.

Morgan: Here. Let me help you.

Ridge: Oh, yeah.

Morgan: Does that feel good?

Ridge: Mm-hmm. Sure does.

Morgan: See? I know what you need and how to give it to you. If you'll just let me.

*******************************************************

Mother: Hope is so adorable. Seems like she was channeling Shirley Ttemple.

Father: She was wonderful.

Brooke: Thank you. We'll see you.

Father: All right. Bye-bye.

Brooke: Wow. You were so great. Mommy is so proud of you.

Hope: Daddy didn't come.

Brooke: I know. But he wanted to be here. He did. He just had to take care of something. Maybe you could show him tonight, okay? Now, why don't you go give nick a big hug and thank him for those flowers.

Nick: Oh, gosh! You're so special. And you know what else? You were so good. I want you to eat that whole lollipop. Go on.

Catherine: Come on, Hope. Let's go find a vase for your flowers, okay?

Brooke: I can't believe this.

Nick: He didn't call?

Brooke: No. Not a word.

Nick: Well, you know, I don't have the highest opinion of Forrester, but this is -- he claims to be such a family man.

Brooke: He is.

Nick: Well, how can he do this? How can he miss her recital like this? You know the answer, too -- because he's pigheaded, he's stubborn, and he won't admit he's wrong. That little girl looks up to him like a father. What the hell's the matter with him?

Brooke: I don't know. I don't know what to think anymore. I really thought that he would be here. I'm just in shock. I mean, he must be checking his voicemail; otherwise his voice mail would be full.

Nick: Call him again.

Brooke: And say what?

Nick: You tell him how disappointed you are, and you tell him how disappointed Hope is. That's what you tell him.

Brooke: Well, Ridge, the recital's over, and you missed it. Hope did great, but she missed you terribly. Look, I know that you're angry with me, and that's fine. Be mad. But please, don't take this out on the children. I don't even know what to tell them, because I don't even know where you are. You've been gone for three nights now, Ridge. And I'm trying to understand all of this. I really am. But I'm also getting really tired of making excuses for you. I left you a million messages. And the one time you pick up, you hang up on me. What am I supposed to think? I don't deserve this, Ridge. And neither do our children. We want you home. So please, come back. Yell and scream at me all you want to, as long as we deal with our problem somehow. And stop ignoring it. Stop ignoring us. Please. We love you. Well, there you go. If Ridge doesn't call me back after this, I don't know what I'm gonna do. It's just not like him. He doesn't hide from his problems. Okay, maybe I threw him out, and maybe I shouldn't have done that, but what does he want from me? I mean, I've apologized, and I've asked him to come back. How could he do this, Nick? How could he turn his back on me and our family?

Nick: Your tears are back.

Brooke: And you're here for me, just like you said you'd be.

*************************************************************************

Helen: Thanks again for the lift home, Mrs. Forrester.

Stephanie: Oh, please. Don't give it a thought. You're family to me, you and Gabrielle.

Helen: You know, that means a lot to me, really.

Stephanie: You've done a wonderful job raising her.

Helen: Thank you. I've always wanted for her what I never did. You know, a college education, a career.

Stephanie: I guess we all want more for our kids, don't we?

Helen: Yes. If she gets into Stanford, I'm going to miss her so much. But she'll always be near me.

Stephanie: Did she give you that for your birthday?

Helen: Yes, she did.

Stephanie: Oh, it's hard when they go away.

Helen: Mm-hmm. Any advice?

[ Stephanie chuckles ]

Stephanie: From me to you? You, the best mom in the world? No.

Helen: The best mom in the world? I think you're the best mom in the world.

Stephanie: Oh, no, no, no.

Helen: Yes.

Stephanie: Oh, gosh. I don't know. I guess just, you know, enjoy them and spend as much time with them as you can.

[ Tires screeching ]

[ Horn honking ]
