Brooke: So, Bridget -- how late did you and nick stay up last night?

Bridget: I don't know. I'm not sure.

Ridge: What'd you do?

Bridget: We were just talking.

Thomas: Must have been a real gabfest. Poor guy was still sacked out when I got up.

Nick: Are you talking about me?

Ridge: Good morning.

Nick: Morning, everyone.

Brooke: You slept well.

Nick: Yes, I did, actually. Like a baby.

Thomas: Uh-huh. Not like me. You should have warned me you snored, dude.

Nick: Oh, sorry about that.

Bridget: Would you like some pancakes?

Thomas: Yeah, you better get some now, 'cause once Hope gets up, there's not going to be any left.

Bridget: I made them myself.

Nick: Oh. How can I say no? No time for seconds, I've got to get to that meeting in Los Angeles I told you about.

Bridget: That's too bad. We could've gotten in a few more runs.

Nick: I'd like it another time.

Bridget: What about you, Thomas? Want to come?

Thomas: What do I look like? An Eskimo?

Bridget: It's not that cold out there, guys.

Ridge: It's supposed to be record lows tonight.

Bridget: You're forgetting I was living in Copenhag. This is toasty to me.

Nick: Brooke, you certainly know your daughter. You can't keep her off the slopes, like you said.

Thomas: Yeah. Well, you couldn't pay me to get out there today. Plus, I've already kind of packed. So I'm going to go and get Hope and R.J.'s stuff together.

Ridge: Brooke? You okay? You seem kind of quiet. Is anything wrong?

Clarke: Amber, I'm trying to talk to you.

Amber: They're -- they're eating breakfast. Can you believe it? Like one big happy family.

Clarke: Maybe because they are.

Amber: No. Uh-uhn. I talked to Thomas yesterday, and he's definitely not happy.

Clarke: Well, obviously you're not happy, as well. Amber, I want to know what's going on here, okay? I want to know what's going on with that trap you set at that mineshaft. And I want to know what's going on with that mysterious box you put at the bottom. Now, come on, you can tell me. I know how to keep a secret.

[ Phone rings ]

Amber: Hello?

Thomas: Amber, it's me again.

Amber: Now I know you miss me.

Thomas: I'm just worried about you. You were saying some pretty weird stuff yesterday.

Amber: Oh, I shouldn't have done that. I'm sorry. I just -- I got a little emotional. Yeah, I didn't mean to alarm you.

Thomas: I'm not alarmed. I'm just concerned.

Amber: Don't be. So -- what are you up to?

Thomas: Nothing. It's too cold to go skiing. So nick had to go back to Marone and I'm gonna catch a ride with Brooke and the kids as soon as they get packed.

Amber: Yeah. It's probably a good thing that you're all going home. I mean, I hear the weather's only gonna get worse anyway.

Thomas: I think dad and Bridget are actually gonna try to squeeze in a few more runs.

Amber: Well, that's Bridget. You know, she's quite the little ski bunny. Thomas?

Thomas: Just take care of yourself. Okay, Amber? Please.

Brooke: Nick, you'd better get going if you don't want to be late for your meeting.

Nick: I'm going to peek in on the kids before I go.

Bridget: You know what, I'll go with you.

Brooke: It's all right. Ridge is doing that. Bridget, why don't you help me with the dishes?

Bridget: Oh. Okay.

Nick: No, no, no -- first you've got to show me that view that we talked about last night.

Bridget: What view?

Nick: The view. The one you promised to show me, remember? Please?

Bridget: Oh, the view.

Nick: Come on.

Bridget: Right. I'm sorry, Mom. I promised.

Nick: We won't be long.

Ridge: That was Amber?

Thomas: Yeah.

Ridge: She been calling you?

Thomas: No, I called her. I -- I was concerned about her.

Ridge: I'm concerned about you, Thomas. That's why I don't want you talking to her.

Thomas: Look, it's not a big deal. She didn't show up to the fashion show, so I got worried. And called her.

Ridge: Today the first time?

Thomas: Yesterday.

Ridge: So that's not your first conversation. You can't let her suck you back in like this.

Thomas: She's hurting, Dad. Breaking up with me. Getting shut out of the family. She's lost a lot.

Ridge: Yeah, well she had to let all that go when she gave Brooke that photograph. You have to realize she's done this to herself.

Thomas: I do. But -- she's not acting like herself. Amber's always been straight with me. But the way she's talking -- being all cryptic -- it worries me.

Amber: Thomas still cares about me. I told you. I knew it.

Clarke: What did he say?

Amber: It doesn't matter what he said. The point is, he called. Again.

Clarke: All right. Good. Maybe you can call off this crazy scheme.

Amber: Call it off? No. No way. Everything is just starting to fall into place. I knew Brooke and the kids would go home once the weather started getting worse. I mean, there's nothing to do. It's too cold.

Clarke: Ah, so they went back to L.A.?

Amber: Everybody except Ridge and Bridget.

Clarke: Well, they can't ski on a day like today.

Amber: Oh, Ridge and Bridget can ski through anything. They are total addicts. Okay. Come here. Come on. Coffee down. Man the telescope.

Clarke: What am I looking for?

Amber: Just keep an eye on the cabin. I need to know exactly what's going on in there.

Clarke: Okay.

Bridget: Captain Marone, you didn't bring me out here to show me the view.

Nick: No, I didn't. I wanted to get you alone. It's a --

Bridget: -- About last night.

Nick: Yeah. Yeah, about that.

Bridget: That kiss. It was, you know, it was wonderful. I'll never forget it. But, uh -- you know, I've been doing a lot of thinking. I was actually up most of the night thinking. And, you know, we can't pursue this. There's just too many problems with it. With us.

Nick: I agree.

Bridget: You do?

Nick: Yeah. We can't.

Bridget: We can't.

Nick: No.

Bridget: Right. Yeah, I mean, there's just no intelligent reason to do this.

Nick: It's the history. It's my history. It's your history. It's the age difference.

Bridget: No, that's not really an issue.

Nick: But still, there's a whole smorgasboard of issues.

Bridget: You know, the most important one being I can't get involved with another man that was involved with my mom. I just can't go there.

Nick: I can't -- I can't put you in that position either. It's -- it's just too crazy.

Bridget: I don't know about crazy.

Nick: No, it's just a bad idea.

Bridget: Yeah. So, um -- we didn't mess things up?

Nick: Which things?

Bridget: Our friendship?

Nick: No.

Bridget: Good. 'Cause you mean a lot to me, Nick.

Nick: Well, ditto.

Bridget: So, are you going back up to L.A.?

Nick: Yeah. Thanks for the skis.

Bridget: Oh, thanks for coming up.

Nick: Yeah. So you gonna stick around?

Bridget: Yeah. I think for a little while. So --

Nick: You can do better than this crusty old sailor. I want you to clear your mind.

Amber: See anything yet?

Clarke: It would help if I knew what I was looking for.

Amber: Well, you said Nick and Bbridget were talking.

Clarke: Well, he went back inside the house.

Amber: Well, where's Bridget?

Clarke: She's outside.

Amber: What's she doing?

Clarke: Putting on her skis.

Amber: She's going skiing?

Clarke: Yes. Cross-country skiing. Oh, wait. There she goes.

Amber: What? She's leaving? Where -- where's she going? Wait -- what -- what trail did she take?

Clarke: The one on the west side of the house.

Amber: Okay. This is it.

Clarke: What did Bridget have to do with this? Look, you're plotting against Ridge. Why are you dragging Bridget into it?

Amber: Well, you can't set a trap without bait.

Clarke: What do you mean? Where are you going?

Amber: You know what? I've got it covered. Just stay put, and trust me.

Brooke: Where's Bridget?

Nick: Oh, she -- she decided to go out for a ski.

Brooke: By herself?

Nick: Yeah. You know, I couldn't go. I got to go back to Los Angeles. Why, you worried about something?

Brooke: The temperature's dropping.

Nick: She's tough.

Brooke: It's strange that she went by herself. She really only does that when she has a lot on her mind.

Nick: Maybe she does.

Brooke: Do you happen to know what it is? Nick, I saw you last night. You and Bridget. You were kissing.

Nick: Well, obviously you haven't said anything to Ridge, have you?

Brooke: No. How did you know?

Nick: Because if you had, I'd probably be having this conversation with him right now.

Brooke: I thought I'd give you a chance to explain.

Nick: There's nothing to explain. It was just a kiss.

Brooke: Between you and my daughter.

Nick: Well, it wasn't planned, if that's what you're asking.

Brooke: Look, I want to know what's going on between you two. No -- on second thought, no. I don't want to know. I just want it to end, whatever it is. Right here, and right now.

Ridge: What do you mean, Amber was being cryptic?

Thomas: She keeps talking about you, and about how you won't give her a fair shake at things, and you need a wake-up call.

Ridge: A wake-up call?

Thomas: Yeah, I don't get it, either.

Ridge: The last time I saw Amber, I was pretty harsh. I was still upset about the photograph.

Thomas: What did you say?

Ridge: Nothing she didn't need to hear. Amber's the one that needs to wake up and realize that she doesn't belong in this family, and she doesn't belong with you.

[ Wind blowing ]

Amber: There she is. Here we go.

Amber: Help! Somebody please help me! Over here! Help me! Please help!

Bridget: Wait. Wait! Wait, where are you going, ma'am? Wait! Wait up! Wait! Hey! What's going on?

Thomas: You're taking this all wrong.

Ridge: Amber says she's not going to give up?

Thomas: She's not seeking revenge. If you would just listen --

Ridge: No, Thomas, I'm through listening. Just get your stuff together. Brooke's leaving soon.

Thomas: So that's it? End of conversation?

Ridge: Not by a long shot. We're going to pick this up as soon as we get home. And I don't want you calling her when you get home, either. Okay? It's for your own good. Amber's determined to hang on to you. You know that. And if I know her, she's out there plotting some way to get you back. Thomas, you've got to be diligent, here. Please, do not fall into her trap.

Bridget: Lady? I'm here to help you.

Amber: Come on. I've gotten her this far. This has to work!

Bridget: Ma'am? Ma'am, are you here?

Brooke: I'm serious, Nick. Whatever's going on with you and Bridget, it can't go any further.

Nick: Now, don't get so steamed up about this.

Brooke: I am concerned about my daughter. Now, I know that you've been helping her. And I'm sure that she's benefited from your friendship. But that's all it can be.

Nick: And that's all it is.

Brooke: I saw you, Nick. I saw that kiss.

Nick: Mind if I say something, please? I was outside with Bridget before, because I wanted to say the same exact thing to her. That this can't go anywhere, but she beat me to the punch. She's a smart woman.

Brooke: Yeah, she is.

Nick: She knows as well as I do that if you give in to that attraction, everything changes. Once you cross that line, you can never go back. No matter how mature you think you are, you never really can be friends again. Can you? And I think that's what we both want here. I would never hurt your daughter. And I don't want to lose her as a friend.

Brooke: No, of course you don't.

Nick: Besides, where would this go anyway, huh? Pretty young doctor and some crusty old sailor.

Brooke: Well, you're not old.

Nick: But I'm set in my ways. I like to drink, I like to smoke. I live in a boat and I really don't care for people that much.

Brooke: Yeah, that's not it, Nick. You've been wonderful for Bridget. And if you and I hadn't been involved, well maybe things would've been different. But considering everything that Bridget's been through, she just can't get involved with another man who's been involved with me.

Nick: We both know that. She's come so far. I'm very proud of her. But she's got to find her own happiness. Her own satisfaction. And she's on the right road to that. And I'm not about to change that course.

Brooke: You really care about her that much?

Nick: Your daughter's in no danger from me. Okay?

Brooke: Okay.

Bridget: Hello? Is someone here? Are you hurt? Where did she go? Are you injured? Hello?

Amber: Come on. Just a little bit further. Just one more step.
