Darla: God, I can't believe you actually talked me into this. It's my in-laws, for god's sakes. Spectra is a legitimate fashion house now. We don't need to be sneaking into Eric's preview.

Sally: Au contraire, mon cheri. Now that we are taking sales away from Forrester, I am definitely persona non grata around here.

Darla: There you go.

Jarrett: Excuse me, you look very familiar. Have we met?

[ Using fake french accent ]

Sally: Non. Non, monsieur. Because, you see, I have just arrived from Paris. But I recognize you, monsieur Jarrett.

Jarrett: You know me?

Sally: But of course. Doesn't everybody?

Jarrett: And you are?

Sally: I am the person who is honored to meet you in person, monsieur Jarrett. Yes, yes.

Jarrett: Hello.

Darla: Hello.

Stephanie: Oh, god. Sally.

[ Eric remembers ]

[ Eric remembers ]

Stephanie: You're not going to believe who I saw in the audience. Eric, are you all right? Honey, are you nervous?

Eric: Not like me, huh?

Stephanie: No, it's not.

Eric: The boys gave us our edge. I'm the reason they left. I underestimated Thorne, I called Ridge the enemy. The fact is, I brought all this on myself.

***********************************************************************************

Ridge: This isn't what dad wants. Leading a new design team he barely had time to train?

Thorne: So you want us to go back there together?

Ridge: Oh, we're gonna disagree. But my focus isn't on the same things anymore, Thorne. There's so many things more important than that. Family, Thorne.

Thorne: We can still be a family, working at different companies. Look, I am onto something big here, Ridge. Something that I have made for myself.

Ridge: Dad made this company for us. There'll be plenty of time after he's retired, or gone, to strike out on your own, if that's what you want. Your name is Forrester. This is your legacy. This is what you were born to do.

Thorne: Look, after everything that I've done, Ridge, you can't expect me to walk away from my company.

Ridge: But it's not your company. Unless you've made some deal with Sally I'm not aware of. Sally Spectra owns Spectra Couture. And right now, she's the only one profiting from your success.

*************************************************************************

Deacon: No. Don't do this. Don't do this. I can't do this.

Clarke: Deacon? Sorry, I didn't mean to startle you. You okay?

Deacon: Oh, yeah, I'm fine.

Clarke: You sure? You look a little freaked out. What's going on?

Deacon: Nothing. I'm fine.

Clarke: Oh. You just seem a little jumpy.

Deacon: What the hell do you want from me, man? I thought I was here alone.

Clarke: Sorry. Cleaning crew let me in.

Deacon: So, what are you doing? Sneaking a couple more dresses on the rack?

Clarke: No. But you should be glad if we did. You know, Spectra's giving you a bigger piece of the pie. The more that you sell, the more that you make.

Deacon: Uh-huh. And I have you and Sally to thank for that, huh?

Clarke: Well, I would like to take as much credit as I could. But, no, honestly, I'm not the one responsible for our success. No. That's Thorne Forrester. He's the key. He's the one who's made Spectra what it is today.

**********************************************************************

Ridge: So, Thorne -- just between you and me. Did Sally give you a piece of the company?

Thorne: An unproven executive? Not likely.

Ridge: You're not just any executive, Thorne. You have years of experience at one of the most successful design houses in the world.

Thorne: And my salary reflects that.

Ridge: Let me guess -- a cool million a year? Sounds like a lot of money, till you realize we could license the Forrester trademark for $20 million. When you look at it like that, Sally's getting a steal.

Thorne: Sally gave me her respect, and offered me an opportunity when my own family turned their backs on me. And I know her history as well as you do, Ridge, and that is all in the past. She's a legitimate businesswoman now.

[ Applause ]

Stephanie: Sit down and relax. Samantha and Caitlin have everything under control.

Eric: I expected more applause.

Stephanie: They're reporters. They're taking notes.

Sally: Interesting, hmm?

Jarrett: Exciting, isn't it?

Sally: This?

Jarrett: You don't think so?

Sally: Monsieur, Forrester Creations, too traditional. These are all, how you say, boring? Boring. Now, you want some excitement, I suggest you look at Spectra Couture by Thorne Forrester. Now that's exciting fashion. Oui?

[ Applause ]

[ Cameras snapping ]

*************************************************************

Deacon: All right, all right, I get it. Look, when did you start doin' press for Spectra?

[ Clark chuckles ] I'm sorry, all right? I understand that Jackie M is the biggest distributor of Spectra. I also understand that it's our responsibility to promote you guys, but Clarke, give me a break. I don't know what else we can do for you.

Clarke: The question is what can we do for you?

Deacon: Unless you got two on the floor for the Lakers, pal, I gotta get back to work, all right?

Clarke: Look, I know I'm hounding you. But you gotta understand --

Deacon: I do.

Clarke: For sally, this means the world. I mean, thanks to you and Jackie M, Sally is this close to realizing her dream, to have Spectra being on top of the fashion world. And you know what? There is nothing she won't do to get there.

Deacon: All right.

Clarke: I'll work on those tickets.

Deacon: Okay, pal. Thanks.

***************************************************************

[ Upbeat techno music ]

[ Applause ]

Sally: This is not one of Eric's best collections.

Jarrett: No.

Sally: The poor guy is finally losing his, how do you say, touch.

[ Eric on loudspeaker ]

Eric: Ladies and gentlemen, Forrester Creations is proud to present the final design of our latest collection preview.

[ Cameras snapping ]

********************************************************************************

Samantha: Hey. You know, no matter what happens, I am very proud of you.

Caitlin: Thanks. I'm proud of you, too, mom.

Samantha: We didn't have a whole lot of time to pull this together, and we did the best we could.

Caitlin: Yeah, well, it's just a preview. I mean, there's still time to make changes.

Samantha: Yeah.

***********************************************************************************

[ Light applause ]

Eric: Thank you. Thank you all very much. Well, that was just a taste of what Forrester has to offer in our next collection. And I want to take this opportunity to introduce our two newest designers. Our mother and daughter team. Samantha Kelly and our own Ms. Ingenue, CaitlinR.

[ Scattered applause ]

Jarrett: Ms. Kelly, I'm intrigued. Neither you or your daughter have much experience in haute couture.

Eric: Jarrett, it does not take a degree in fashion design to be able to recognize beauty. We here at Forrester have always taken great pride in hiring designers with incredible intuition and instinct. And I don't want to keep them waiting any longer. Now get back to work, ladies. Thank you.

[ Scattered applause ]

Eric: Now, any other questions?

Jarrett: Don't you find it ironic that the designers at spectra fashions have more years of training with you than your own designers do?

Eric: Jarrett, my children and former employees at Spectra have all done very well for themselves. I couldn't be more proud.

Jarrett: And you're afraid that Spectra Couture by Thorne Forrester's growing popularity could compromise the exclusivity of the Forrester name?

Eric: In answer to your question, no. No, you know, trends come and go, but Forrester will always be here. And we will still be here when Spectra's temporary notoriety has faded from fashion memory. Now, if you'll excuse me, this preview is over. Thank you.

[ Scattered applause ]

Sally: Oh, come on, Eric. Why don't you admit it? You just threw this little soiree to get your name into the press. Sally Spectra and Thorne Forrester have pushed the Forrester Creations right off the page.

Eric: Security, escort this woman from the showroom, please.

Jarrett: Woman? Sally Spectra, I knew it.

[ Chatter ]

Sally: In the flesh, babies. Hello all you beautiful people.

Eric: This is just another shameless attempt by the competition to steal the spotlight.

Sally: You see? Even he admits it. We are the competition.

Stephanie: Darla, get her out of here right know.

Darla: I'm sorry, Stephanie. Eric, I'm sorry.

[ Chatter ]

************************************************************************

Ridge: You don't have to convince me. Sally's no hack.

Thorne: You've worked with her, too.

Ridge: Well I saw firsthand what a shrewd businesswoman she is. Which is why I'm sure she really knows what you're really worth.

Thorne: Yeah, and she's been shouting it from the rooftops. She credits me for all Spectra's success, Ridge.

Ridge: Well, there's credit -- and then there's credit.

Thorne: I'm happy with our arrangement.

Ridge: So is she. I'm sure Sally's singing all the way to the bank. She knew what she was doing when she brought you into Spectra. You're more valuable than your last name, Thorne. Come back to a company that appreciates everything you have to offer. Help me. Help me make Forrester Creations the company mother and dad dreamt it could be.

**********************************************************************************************

[ Glass shattering ]

Stephanie: Short speech to the troops?

Eric: Umm-hmm very.

Stephanie: Well, I hope you didn't look like this when you gave it to them.

Eric: Look, everybody left in a pretty good mood, you know.

Stephanie: It didn't go that badly. Except for Sally, of course.

Eric: I'm beginning to think that Ridge was right. Letting Spectra use the Forrester name. The big, big mistake.

Stephanie: Look, we both agreed that it was the thing to do, and I didn't have to think twice about it.

Eric: No, neither did I. But I'm thinking maybe now, I should have.

Stephanie: This isn't exactly what you're upset about, is it? I expected a bigger reaction, too. It's not a bad collection, Eric.

Eric: But it's not a great collection, and that's what people expect from Forrester. Honey, I hate to say it. But I think Forrester may be on the verge of their first ever flop.

*************************************************************************************************

Ridge: Dad's having a really rough time. He's previewing a collection he doesn't even believe in.

Thorne: Why would he do that?

Ridge: Look, it's about exposure. For every mention of Forrester, there are two articles about the rise of Spectra. And he wanted to get some press between seasons.

Thorne: He doesn't put the finishing touches on a collection until the week of the showing. You've gotta go back, Ridge.

Darla: I swear, Sally. When Thorne finds about this, uhh.

Ridge: Come with me. We've got a chance here to reunite the family, Thorne. You know what that would mean to dad? To have both of us back at Forrester. Working as a team?

Thorne: Team. We were a team before. That's what you were kept telling me, ridge, "be a team player." But that meant you were the quarterback and I was the waterboy.

Sally: Someone's in the office with Thorne. Come.

Ridge: You left and you proved us all wrong.

Darla: My god, I think it's Ridge.

Ridge: I get it now. So does dad. You have a hell of a lot more talent and judgment and vision than anyone ever gave you credit for. Thorne, there's nothing left to prove. Whatever you still want to do, you can do it at Forrester.

Sally: He's trying to lure Thorne back!

Darla: No, no, Sal, Sal, please. Come on. It doesn't matter what Ridge says. Thorne would never even think of abandoning ship.

Ridge: We need you, Thorne. Dad needs you more than he ever has. It doesn't matter if I go back by myself. I mean, he'd be happy, yeah, but it won't be the same. He wants us both under Forrester's roof. Where we grew up, where we belong. For mother and dad, I mean it -- took them awhile but they finally came through for you, didn't they? Well now, they need something from you. They'd never ask. They want you to find your own success. I think you've gone and done that. You've gotten stronger, smarter. Working here has definitely made you a better executive. But now? Now it's time to come home. You can be a great businessman here at Spectra, Thorne. But, you know what, if you come back to Forrester, you're gonna be a hero.
