Brooke: Everyone's tucked in. Ridge should be home soon. Time for a little romance.

[ "Unforgettable" plays ]

Unforgettable that's what you are unforgettable though near or far like a song of love that clings to me how the thought of you does things to me never before has someone been more unforgettable in every way and forever more and forever more that's how you'll stay that's how you'll stay that's why darling it's incredible that someone so unforgettable thinks that I am unforgettable too

Brooke: I've been waiting for you. Nick will probably keep Bridget out late, so we have the whole house all to ourselves. I've been trying to figure out all the wonderful things that we could do to each other. Starting with a massage, of course. Ah! Oh, Stephanie! You can't just walk into my house like that.

Stephanie: I was invited. There was a sign on the door. Lordy, if this is how you carry on when the children are in the house, I'm just glad I never show up when you're here alone.

Brooke: Thomas is at a friend's, and hope and R.J. Are asleep.

Stephanie: Good thing for them.

Brooke: What do you want, Stephanie?

Stephanie: I want to talk to you. Have you spent very much time with Bridget?

Brooke: Actually, we had a very nice long talk the day that she got back, yes.

Stephanie: Has Ridge spent very much time with Bridget?

Brooke: Well, we all spend time with her, since she's staying here. What's your point?

Stephanie: Brooke, you know how I feel about your relationship with Ridge. You cannot begin to imagine what I would feel if anything were to happen between Ridge and Bridget again.

Bridget: I didn't mean for this to happen.

Ridge: Of course, you didn't.

Bridget: I didn't want to drag you into it.

Ridge: Drag me into it? I'm part of the reason you're hurting so badly right now.

Bridget: No. Ridge, it's -- it's me. I'm -- I'm just screwed up.

Ridge: No, Bridget, you're not.

Bridget: This is my problem. I didn't mean to get you involved. Either one of you. You have everything you want right now. You married mom and you have a beautiful little boy, an incredible family.

Ridge: Which you are a part of.

Bridget: I'll just screw it up. Dredging up something that we all want to forget. I just have to do this on my own.

Ridge: Well, burying your feelings so far hasn't resolved anything, has it? So why don't we just bring all these feelings out into the open then? Talk about them. Solve the problem, deal with it --

Nick: She's asking you to back off, Forrester. I think that's a good idea.

Ridge: Do you?

Nick: It's been a long evening for Bridget. Why don't we all just call it a night, huh? Come on, why don't you let me take you home?

Ridge: Thanks for the offer, nick. I'll take Bridget home.

Nick: That is a mistake. Being alone with you is the last thing she needs right now.

Brooke: Don't, Stephanie. Don't even go there.

Stephanie: She has not been her usual self.

Brooke: And do you blame her? She's living in a foreign country, she's struggling to fit in, she's a medical student. It has to be all so overwhelming.

Stephanie: Is that all she said to you?

Brooke: She and Oscar are having some problems, and I listened and offered to help.

Stephanie: As usual, too little, too late.

Brooke: What do you mean?

Stephanie: I called Oscar. She broke off the engagement.

Brooke: What? That can't be. She's still wearing his ring.

Stephanie: She broke the engagement quite a while ago. Now, why didn't she tell you? Why wouldn't Bridget want you to know that they were broken up? Ask yourself that. And ask yourself, why is she here?

Brooke: She is going through some hard times right now and she just needs some support from her family.

Stephanie: She might need support from you, but she doesn't need any from Ridge.

Ridge: I think I understand what Bridget needs a lot better than you do, nick.

Nick: You're not serious, are you, Forrester? You really don't see the problem here? Bridget, you can stay at your father's house, can't you?

Ridge: There's nothing inappropriate about my concern for Bridget. So if you're suggesting --

Bridget: No, he's not. Ridge, he's not --

Nick: She's asking for some breathing room here, Forrester. She's got a lot of things to sort out, obviously.

Ridge: And I'm going to help her do that.

Nick: Just like you did before? Playing the sensitive hero? That's what got her in this mess to begin with.

Bridget: I'll be okay, Nick.

Nick: But you're not okay. Don't you see, you're not. Now listen to me, staying in that house is wrong. It's not good for you, and it's not good for your mother.

Ridge: Brooke is just as concerned about Bridget as I am.

Nick: You're thinking about telling her?

Bridget: No, Ridge, you can't.

Ridge: Bridget, you've got nothing to worry about. Your mother and I are married now. We have a little child. Our relationship is rock solid.

Bridget: Oh, god, I'm so sorry I said anything. I hate talking about this. I just want it to be over.

Ridge: Well, it will be. Come on, let's go home.

Bridget: Okay.

Nick: You sure?

Bridget: Thank --

Ridge: She'll be fine.

Brooke: You can't be serious. Ridge and Bridget might have crossed that line before, but it was only a few kisses, and it's never going to happen again.

Stephanie: Does Bridget know that?

Brooke: She's a good girl, Stephanie. She's just having some problems, that's all.

Stephanie: I understand. But the last time that she had problems like this, she turned to Ridge.

Brooke: She was confused.

Stephanie: Doesn't she seem to be confused to you now?

Brooke: How dare you use my daughter's problems to make me feel insecure?

Stephanie: For god's sakes, I'm just trying to talk to you like an adult. I'm on your side.

Brooke: You tried that tactic before, Stephanie. I'm not going to let you do it again.

Stephanie: Fair enough. I just want you to be aware that she may be in more trouble than you realize. And if she is, that means trouble for everyone in this house.

Brooke: She loves this family. She's not going to do anything to disrupt it.

Stephanie: We all know that -- we all know that she's a wonderful, caring young woman.

Brooke: Yes, she is.

Stephanie: I'd like to think that she gets those traits from her father. But like her mother, she gets swept up with her emotions and her feelings when it comes to men.

Brooke: Ridge and I are married now, and Bridget has grown up.

Stephanie: Yes, she has. To a beautiful young woman.

Brooke: And she respects our marriage. She's very happy for us, Stephanie. And my relationship with Ridge has never been stronger.

Stephanie: I just want you to keep your eyes open. History has a way of repeating itself.

Brooke: Yes, my eyes are open, Stephanie, to you and what you're trying to do. I won't allow you to play on my insecurities, because Ridge and I are fine. And my daughter's going to be fine. And that ugly chapter in our lives is over.

[ Cell phone ringing ]

Nick: Yeah?

Stephanie: Hello, Nick, it's Stephanie. I'm sorry to bother you, but I understand that you and Bridget spent the evening together. I wondered if I might just speak to her.

Nick: She's not here.

Stephanie: Do you know where she is?

Nick: Yeah. She's with Ridge.

Ridge: I'm so --

Bridget: I'm so --

Ridge: I'm sorry.

Bridget: I'm sorry, Ridge. I didn't mean to come home and complicate your life like this.

Ridge: Don't you worry about me.

Bridget: Maybe Nick did have a point, though. Maybe it's not such a good idea for me to stay with you and mom. None of this seems like such a good idea anymore.

Ridge: You're the one that said you have to face it, right?

Bridget: Yeah. I just don't want you to think that I'm still hung up on you, or that I still have feelings for you. Because that isn't it. I just haven't been able to find anything that makes me quite as happy as being with you and the kids, that's all.

Ridge: Well, then come home. Come home and let us take care of you. Bridget, trust me here. Everything's going to be just fine.

[ Knock on door ]

Nick: Oh. I was expecting you. Sorry about the outfit.

Stephanie: Good evening. Nick, I understand that you took Bridget to your mother's party, but you didn't take her home?

Nick: Do you think I should go a lighter shade of blue with the marlin?

Stephanie: Yes. I'd like to know what happened.

Nick: Ridge wanted to give her a ride.

Stephanie: Why?

Nick: I don't know. You should ask him.

Stephanie: Nick, what's going on?

Nick: Why don't the people in your family talk to each other? Why are you coming to me with this?

Stephanie: Because I am concerned and I thought you might have some answers.

Nick: This isn't my business.

Stephanie: You know what happened between Ridge and Bridget after Taylor died.

Nick: Brooke told me.

Stephanie: Then you can only imagine how devastated she would be if something like that would happen again.

Nick: Why would you think it would happen again?

Stephanie: I'm concerned that Bridget's in trouble. I think she's in a very emotional state and liable to make some mistakes.

Nick: She is in trouble. Big trouble. She had a bit of a meltdown and told me everything. She can't get past what happened with Ridge. She wants to. She tried. But nothing else seems to measure up for her.

Stephanie: Ridge knows this?

Nick: He walked in while we were talking, right in the middle of her meltdown.

Stephanie: That's why he took her home.

Nick: She shouldn't be living in that house. It's a bad idea. For everyone. Brooke's a strong woman, she can take a lot, but this is just ugly. Could put a big strain on that marriage.

Stephanie: You wouldn't mind that, though, would you?

Nick: I'm not part of this equation, Stephanie, but I suggest that you take a realistic look at that golden boy son of yours. Because if he really loves his wife and her daughter, he'll leave Bridget alone and keep his sappy support to himself.

Bridget: Hey, thanks for the ride home. Good night.

Ridge: Wait a minute. Hold on, hold on. Don't you want to talk? I mean, you barely said anything the whole ride home.

Bridget: There's really nothing to say. I'm going to stay here tonight, and then I'm going to get out of your hair tomorrow.

Ridge: Bridget, I am so sorry.

Bridget: Stop apologizing, please.

Ridge: When you left for Copenhagen, I thought you were all right. I thought you had moved on.

Bridget: Well, I really -- I wanted you to think that. I wanted to believe it. I really, really did. I tried everything.

Ridge: Does that mean Oscar?

Bridget: Yeah. I tried really hard to make it work. In the end, more so for him than me. Just -- it never felt right. Nothing has felt right for a really -- for a really long time.

Ridge: You have so much going for you, Bridget. What about med school?

Bridget: Well, I mean, it's really important to me. It's just not -- it's not my entire life. I feel like I don't really have a life right now.

Ridge: Well, that's going to change. You did the right thing coming back here. You may not think that now, but you're going to find your happiness again, kiddo. And I'm going to make sure of that. You are a very amazing woman. You should be out having the time of your life right now. Living overseas, going to one of the best med schools in the world. You're young, intelligent, ambitious. I couldn't live with myself knowing my mistake held you back.

Bridget: No, it didn't.

Ridge: But it is my mistake. I should have realized how much you were hurting. I should have made sure that you were all right. Just the same as you did for me. I didn't even have to ask for your help. And you're not going to have to ask for mine. You've got it, you hear me? You've got as much of it as you need, for as long as you need. You're going to get your life back. You're going to get your life back and all of your enthusiasm and all of your hope and everything that makes you so special. You remember what I used to call you?

Bridget: Princess.

Ridge: Yeah. Well, guess what? You will always be my princess.
