Brooke: Sweetheart, don't shut me out. I want to help.

Bridget: Mom, I'm not shutting you out.

Brooke: Well, then talk to me. Tell me what's bothering you. Bridget, I'm your mother. There's nothing you can't say to me. Honey, what's happened to you?

******************************************************************

Nick: Come on, Paige. Let me hear from you, darling. Tell me all about Deacon the devil. Come on.

Hector: Nick Marone?

Nick: Who's asking?

Hector: Hector Ramirez, Los Angeles fire department. I'd like to speak with you, official fire department business.

Nick: We break some rules or codes or --

Hector: No. No. Not that I'm aware of.

Nick: Okay. So what's this about?

Hector: Well, I'd like to personally thank you for your very, very generous donation to the fireman's holiday charity drive.

Nick: Come in. Come in. Just following my father's footsteps. He's always given to the firemen.

Hector: Speaking of your father, I -- I heard. I'm sorry about his stroke -- recovery. Your mother must be very glad to have him back.

Nick: She will be, if everything goes as planned.

****************************************************************

Paige: So you're actually in management?

Deacon: Yeah, that's right. I'm a V.P. How did you know?

Paige: The nameplate on your desk.

Deacon: Ah.

Paige: So obviously, I'm in very, very good hands.

Deacon: Oh, that depends on whether or not I can get this zipper going. I put -- I'm sorry about that.

Paige: No problem. I really just hate the fact that I'm holding you up here.

Deacon: It's all right. I don't mind.

Paige: But I do. It's the holidays, and I'm sure that you have someone special waiting at home for you.

Deacon: What makes you think that?

Paige: A successful, handsome man going home to an empty house? I'm right, aren't I? You're married.

Deacon: No, actually, I'm not married.

********************************************************************************************

Jackie: My, my, my. You know, that almost sounded like a threat.

Stephanie: Just letting you know that you're on my radar screen.

Jackie: You're very protective of Massimo.

Stephanie: Well, he's suffered a great deal because of you, Jackie.

Jackie: And he's made it pretty obvious, hasn't he, that he doesn't want anything to do with me now, or in the future. So why do you find it necessary to warn me away from him?

Stephanie: Because I know. The moment Deacon dumps you --

Jackie: Dumps me? Why do you think he's gonna do that?

Stephanie: I know deacon so well. It's just a matter of time. Someone richer, sexier, younger will come along. He's an equal opportunity user. I mean, he used amber. He used Bridget. Oh -- and while he was married to Bridget, he slept with his mother-in-law. Now, what sort of fellow sleeps with his mother-in-law while still married to the daughter? The sort of fellow that dumps women.

*******************************************************************************

Brooke: Honey, it's all right. Don't cry. It's going to be okay.

Bridget: Mom, please. You don't understand.

Brooke: I'm trying to understand. I can't imagine it would be about school. You've always been such an excellent student.

Bridget: It's not about school.

Brooke: Is it Ozzy? Has something changed in the relationship? Has he hurt you?

Bridget: No.

Brooke: No, he hasn't hurt you, or --

Bridget: Mom, it's not about Ozzy, okay? At least, it's not his fault.

Brooke: What's not his fault? Bridget, honey, whatever the problem is --

Bridget: Mom, it's me. I'm the problem. I am.

Brooke: Are you saying your feelings have changed somehow?

Bridget: That's -- that's just it. I don't feel. I just -- I can't feel. It's like there's something's broken inside of me. I don't know how to fix it, or even if it can be fixed.

Brooke: Honey.

****************************************************************************************************

Hector: Quite a collection you've got here.

Nick: Thanks. I like to stay with the nautical theme, as you can see. I've tried anyway. It's not always easy to translate and communicate with decorators.

Hector: You got something against decorators?

Nick: No, not really. Why? You married to one?

Hector: Actually, engaged. As a matter of fact, I think Sam helped you decorate this place, your folks' place, too.

Nick: Kelly? Samantha Kelly's your --

Hector: Yeah. Although we've not been officially introduced.

Nick: No.

[ Both laugh ] Let me pull my foot out of my mouth.

Hector: Don't sweat it. Hey, what do I know about decorating? Give me a recliner and a tv, I'm happy.

Nick: I'm right there with ya. I live on a boat. I don't even have a tv.

Hector: Well, the next time there's a game, why don't you stop by the firehouse and catch it with the me and the guys? With a big donation as big as yours, you can get your own remote.

Nick: I'd like that.

****************************************************************************************

Deacon: There you go. It's very beautiful.

Paige: Thank you.

Deacon: He's a lucky guy.

Paige: Who is?

Deacon: Whoever you're going home to.

Paige: My husband died last year.

Deacon: I'm sorry.

Paige: It was very sudden. I miss him a lot, you know, especially around the holidays.

Deacon: Do you have any friends or family here in L.A.

Paige: No, we're not from here. And actually, we lived overseas because of Dennis' work.

Deacon: What did he do?

Paige: He owned a very lucrative oil business. And when he passed, of course, I was -- I lost it. So I just set sail on our yacht. And I've been traveling ever since.

Deacon: Just kind of trying to ease the pain, right?

Paige: Exactly. Look, I'm sorry. I shouldn't be running on like this. Especially when I'm probably keeping you from whatever you had planned tonight. So, do you have plans for tonight?

************************************************************************************

Jackie: We all have made mistakes, even you. But people change, including Deacon.

Stephanie: Keep telling yourself that.

Jackie: It's true. He's a wonderful man. He's done wonderful things --

Stephanie: Wonderful. So you plan oh having a life with him?

Jackie: No. We are already having a life.

Stephanie: Well, don't blink.

Jackie: I just don't get it. I don't -- I don't understand why you would care.

Stephanie: Oh, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to give you that impression. What I care about is what you will do after this all blows up in your face.

Jackie: You think I'm gonna go running back to Massimo?

Stephanie: Absolutely. And you'll do whatever it takes to get him back.

Jackie: No. I already have everything I want, Stephanie.

Stephanie: For the moment. But then Deacon's eye and his libido will begin to wander --

Jackie: And you are going to be the first one at my door saying, "I told you so." Huh-uh. That is not gonna happen.

*********************************************************************************

Brooke: When you say something's "broken inside" --

Bridget: That's the only way I can describe what it's like, to just want to love and be loved, but you're not able to because -- mom, I tried so hard to be happy in Copenhagen. You know, I kept telling myself it was going to work out. But then I started to realize that it -- it couldn't. It couldn't because --

Brooke: Because why, honey? It is Oscar, isn't it? Has he done something?

Bridget: No. No. No, Mom, no. Ozzy's wonderful. He's been so patient and kind. It's -- it's me. I'm the one that couldn't -- that can't. I want so much to be close to a man again and experience that kind of love and intimacy. But how can I, when it's like -- you know, I look at myself in the mirror. It's like I don't even recognize myself anymore, who I am and why I can't relate to -- to even to students at school, friends my own age. I just -- I feel so out of place. It's like I don't belong anywhere. I don't know what to do, Mom. But I have got to do something. Because I can't live like this anymore.

Brooke: I know you've been deeply hurt, Bridget, by people that you've loved, but none of that is your fault.

Bridget: Mom, if you're talking about Deacon --

Brooke: Actually, I meant I know I hurt you terribly, too.

Bridget: Mom, please. Don't. I didn't come all this way to blame you. That's not what this is about.

Brooke: Or is it? I know I told you over and over again how wrong I was to get involved with Deacon and how sorry I was that that happened. But all the apologies in the world can't erase the pain that I caused you. Which is why I should have seen this coming.

Bridget: How could you? Mom, you've got so much going on -- Ridge and the kids and Forrester Creations. I mean, I was halfway across the world.

Brooke: I know, but that is no excuse. I should have known that something was wrong when I didn't hear from you. I should have paid more attention. But that's been the problem all along, hasn't it? I've always been so caught up in my own life. And it made you grow up too fast. It thrust you into situations that you weren't prepared for. But still, I always thought you were strong enough and big enough, mature enough to handle anything that came your way, even when you got in over your head. But the truth is, you weren't invulnerable after all. You were just a sweet, innocent little girl who had to deal with things that she never should have had to deal with. And you needed somebody, Bridget. You needed your mother. And so many times I let you down. Now you stand there, and you tell me that you don't blame me? But how can you not blame me when I am a big reason of why you have so much pain?

*********************************************************************************

Jackie: And now, I think that I'd like you to leave.

Stephanie: My pleasure.

Jackie: You know, it wasn't very prudent of you to come here and insult me considering that Jackie M. Is one of Forrester's most important retail outlets.

Stephanie: Oh, please. You need us more than we need you. And you know, for the life of me, I can't figure out why Massimo let you keep that business after the way you treated him. If you had had any decency, you wouldn't have accepted it. But then I realized, that's the only way you can keep Deacon's interest.

Jackie: Holding his interest hasn't been a problem.

Stephanie: Honey, he can get that anywhere, and will.

************************************************************************************

Deacon: Yeah. Actually, I do have plans tonight.

Paige: Of course. Hey, let's just get you out of here, okay? We can ring up my dresses.

Deacon: What are you doing tonight?

Paige: Same thing I always do every night. Sit on the deck of my yacht, look at the stars.

Deacon: All by your lonesome, huh?

Paige: Yeah. Sometimes, I just light up Dennis' cigars and just smell that smell so I don't feel so lonely.

Deacon: I got a feeling that you're not going to be alone for very long.

Paige: Do I have your personal guarantee?

Deacon: It's just a feeling, but you know, the right guy might be closer than you think.

Paige: You might be right.

Deacon: What? Why don't you have dinner with me tonight?

Paige: What about your plans?

****************************************************************************

Deacon: That's all right. Don't worry about that. I'll take care of it. Just leave that to me, okay?

Jackie: Oh, there you are!

Deacon: If I knew this is what I was coming home to, I would have been back a lot sooner. Look at this.

Jackie: Well, you're here now, and that's all that matters. So? A quiet evening at home, just the two of us. I've been looking forward to it.

Deacon: God, that sounds good. Me, too, but -- I'm afraid something has come up. I'm gonna have to change our plans.

Jackie: Oh, what a shame.

Deacon: Yeah. I was thinking maybe you'd give Nick a call, see if he was free tonight?

************************************************************************************************

Nick: So he took the bait.

Paige: Just like you said.

Nick: I knew it. He wouldn't be able to resist a rich, sexy woman.

Paige: Although he never crossed the line.

Nick: But he wanted to? You could feel it, right, in the office, when you were alone with him?

Paige: Though I have to give deacon credit for restraining himself. Although he did ask me to dinner.

Nick really?

Paige: Obviously, this doesn't come as a surprise to you.

Nick: No, because I knew he'd show his real colors. It's just --

Paige: You don't want to see your mother get hurt.

Nick: He's really done a number on her, you know? He's convinced her that he cares about her, when I know deep down he really doesn't.

[ Phone rings ] Yeah?

Jackie: Oh, good, you're there.

Nick: Mother?

Jackie: I was hoping to catch you before you left.

Nick: Everything all right?

Jackie: Fine. It's just I find myself a bit at loose ends tonight, and I was hoping you could have dinner with me.

Nick: What about Deacon? Why aren't you spending the evening with him?

Jackie: Nick. Can't a mother invite her son to dinner without it being a huge deal? So Cafe Russe, 7:00, okay?

Nick: Sure. Cafe Russe at 7:00.

Jackie: Good.

*******************************************************************************************

Nick: He did it. He did it! He dumped my mother so he can spend time with you!

Paige: This is the least of our worries.

Nick: What do you mean?

Paige: Deacon made reservations for us at Cafe Russe at 7:00.

Nick: The two of you at Cafe Russe. Well, perfect. My mother will see the two of you together. Then she'll really know what kind of scum this guy is.

***********************************************************************

Bridget: I was afraid this was gonna happen if I got into this, that you would feel like I'm -- I didn't come here to point fingers. I love you, mom, and I know that you love me. Whatever has happened is just -- you know, I want to have a wonderful life. I want to be head over heels in love. I don't want to be so afraid of getting hurt that I can't -- you know, I want what you and ridge have. It's just more and more, I'm starting to realize that it's just never gonna happen.

Brooke: Remember when you made this? You were 6. I took you with me to work one day. And to keep you busy I gave you some --

Bridget: Sequins and ribbons to make an ornament.

Brooke: And when I came back into the room, you were in tears because --

Bridget: I thought the job that I had done wasn't good enough.

Brooke: So I stopped everything I was doing just to help you. And the end result was this beautiful ornament. I know it hasn't always been that way. And I know I wasn't always there for you. But I am here for you now. I wish we could just take a magic wand and wave it and everything would be fine again. And whatever you're going through would go away. But you know what? Whatever it is, honey, we'll fix it. And we'll fix it together. And you will be happy again. I promise. You will be happy.
