Brooke: Voting your father out of office, Ridge? You sure you want to do that?

Ridge: You make it sound like I have a choice.

Brooke: We all have choices.

Ridge: But it has to be done. Not just for the well-being of this company, either. For the future of it.

Brooke: And what about your father? And the well-being of the family? Replacing Eric as CEO is --

Ridge: He'll be CEO emeritus.

Brooke: That is a powerless position.

Ridge: Oh, Logan, you know I don't want to hurt my father. I love and respect him so much.

Brooke: And he feels the same way about you. But I'm afraid after the board meeting today, he's just going to see it as an attack.

Ridge: What I'm really doing is protecting him. Not just from bad business decisions now, but from fallout that could happen down the road. Fallout that could be devastating not only for Forrester Creations, but for this whole family. Why am I the only one that sees this?

Brooke: You have to know what this is gonna do to your father.

Ridge: Look, I know this is not going be easy for dad to understand -- or to accept. That's why I'm going to talk to him alone before the meeting -- try and help him understand why this has to be done. And that it won't affect anything between us -- if we don't let it. And I intend to make damn sure we don't.

Eric: Megan tells me that this board meeting is still on for today. You were so convinced that Ridge was gonna cancel it.

Stephanie: He may still.

Eric: Did you talk to him today?

Stephanie: I tried, but he didn't take the call.

Eric: Well, that doesn't sound good.

Thorne: Which can only mean one thing. Ridge isn't gonna let this go.

Stephanie: What? Using your name on the Spectra logo?

Thorne: I'm sure he was up all night stewing about this.

Eric: Well, look, the least we can do is hear him out if he is that upset about it. All right? Look, he's our son, too. And nobody loves this company more than he does.

Stephanie: And he loves you, too. Don't lose sight of that.

Eric: This family has had its share of ups and downs and we always come together. We will this time, too.

Felicia: This is great. Jackie's M's order for the Spectra Couture collection? I mean, we got the go-ahead, right?

Nick: No. It's changed.

Felicia: What?

Nick: Ridge killed the order.

Felicia: Well, he can't do that. He was overruled.

Nick: I heard. By your father, right?

Felicia: Ridge cannot hold Jackie M to the exclusivity clause any more than he can keep, "by Thorne Forrester" off the Spectra label. Or could it be that he found a way to get around my dad on this? I can't imagine how he could do that. Can you?

Thorne: Where is Ridge? I have a company to run, too. I don't have all day to wait around.

Ridge: Good morning, everyone. Sorry I'm late.

Eric: Hello, son.

Thorne: I was beginning to think you weren't gonna show.

Stephanie: Where's Brooke?

Ridge: She'll be along. As soon as I have a talk with dad in private.

Thorne: Why do you need to meet with dad in private?

Ridge: That's between him and me. So if you don't mind?

Thorne: I do mind, Ridge. You call us here for a meeting, you show up late. Now you want to --

Stephanie: Ridge? What is this all about, really?

Ridge: I just need a minute with dad before we do the meeting. Okay?

Eric: Of course, son. We'll just be a minute. So, what's this about?

Nick: Hey, you know the dressmaker a lot better than I do.

Felicia: Then why do I get the feeling that you know a little more about this than you're saying?

Nick: Coffee?

Felicia: Fine. Be that way. But, you know what? When I'm not around, you're gonna to wish --

Nick: What do you mean, when you're not around?

Felicia: Well, actually, I'm -- I'm going away for a while. Back to Paris, actually. You know, to explore the feasibility of the Spectra Couture international line. Pretty exciting, huh?

Stephanie: I thought I'd find you hiding here.

Brooke: I'm not hiding. I spoke to Ridge like you asked me to.

Stephanie: Did you get through to him?

Brooke: I tried. I spoke to him last night and then again, just a few minutes ago.

Stephanie: And?

Brooke: I don't know. I'm hoping that when he's with his father, he'll realize that this isn't the way to go.

Stephanie: And if he doesn't? If he pulls the rug out from underneath him?

Thorne: Okay. I'm confused. Dad already said I could use the Forrester name. What's Ridge trying to do? Sue me for trademark infringement?

Stephanie: It's more than that.

Thorne: Well, whatever it is, it's not gonna work. Because I know my father, and he's probably telling my brother that right now.

Eric: I thought you wanted to talk to me about the content of this meeting. You haven't said anything so far.

Ridge: Well, it's a little difficult to find the right words.

Eric: All right. All right. I'll say something -- about my decision yesterday to let Thorne use our name. But I want to say something about you, actually. You and I have been working together for many, many years, side-by-side. And your creativity has never failed to inspire me. Now, the fact is, I've actually been envious of it from time to time. This originality, the passion that you bring to every one of your designs. And that's why it's been such a -- why it's been so fulfilling for me to work with you. Not just as a father, but as a CEO. But I have another son. Thorne is my son, too. And he has inspired me as well. Everything that he's been able to accomplish lately, in these last few months, has been an inspiration to me.

Ridge: Look, Dad, if you're trying to justify all this again --

Eric: No, no, no. No, I'm not trying to do that. I mean, I realize how frustrating that is for you. And how you feel you need to express your dissent here at this meeting. We will listen to your concerns. We will, because I respect you as a businessman. And because I know you love this company so much. But, Ridge, this decision was mine to make, and I made it. And I expect you to stand beside me.

Ridge: Look, Dad, about all that --

Eric: Stephanie! Stephanie, please, we're we're still talking here.

Thorne: I know what you're up to, Ridge. And I'm putting a stop to it right now.

Nick: You're serious about this?

Felicia: What? Picking up stakes and headin' overseas? Yeah, you betcha.

Nick: When did you decide to go?

Felicia: I don't know, a week or so ago.

Nick: And you're just telling me?

Felicia: Well, you know, you've had a lot on your mind. With your dad, and running his empire. I mean, it's not that it's that big a deal, you know? I mean, it's not like we're engaged or anything, so --

Nick: So, no reason for long good-byes?

Felicia: I knew you'd understand.

Nick: I guess I understand you even more than you think.

Felicia: So, captain. No hard feelings?

Nick: You're sure this is really what you want?

Felicia: What I want -- is for you to marry the woman of your dreams. And have that "happily ever after" ending that everybody talks about, but not that many people seem to get. Only that woman isn't me, Nick. You know it. And so do I.

Ridge: I don't know what mother's told you.

Thorne: She didn't say anything I didn't already suspect, Ridge.

Ridge: Which is what?

Thorne: That you're gonna fight dad's decision, do whatever it takes to block me from using the Forrester name.

Eric: Is that right, Ridge? You gonna fight me on this?

Stephanie: This isn't really what Ridge wants. It can't be.

Ridge: Thorne hasn't really left me much choice, mother.

Stephanie: There are any number of ways that you can resolve this.

Ridge: Not if you want this company to survive. That's what we're talking about here. Protecting the company that you, Dad, Brooke and I have worked so hard to make a success. Which is why I have to make the toughest decision I've ever had to make.

Eric: What decision, Ridge? What are you talking about?

Ridge: Dad, you know what this company means to me. Regardless of that -- I know it means even more to you. It's been your life's work, your passion. You've poured every ounce of creativity and energy and love into this place. And it has flourished -- beyond everyone's expectations, except your own. It's no wonder why I've looked up to you all my life, admired your amazing creativity as a designer and as a leader. That is why I want to honor you, dad -- and your amazing contribution to this company. I want to make you CEO emeritus.

Eric: Emeritus? Emeritus. And who would run this company as CEO from day to day?

Thorne: Who do you think, Dad? Ridge.

Eric: Is that right, Ridge? You're going to take away all my power? In this company that I founded? Is that what you're saying to me?

Nick: So this is it?

Felicia: This is it.

Nick: No regrets?

Felicia: None. What we had was great, Nick. You know, we came together at a time in our lives when we needed someone that -- why pretend it was more than it was? You know? I came on strong, I seduced you.

Nick: I liked that part.

[ Felicia chuckles ]

Felicia: I know. I know. But, you know, it's time to move on. You know what, it's not like, you know, Europe is that far away. I mean, if you're ever on that continent, you know? Oh, hell. Who are we kidding? You're not gonna pick up anchor and sail across the pond anytime soon. So, I guess this really is good-bye.

Nick: Well, I don't do good-byes.

Felicia: Well, I don't do tears.

Nick: Your secret's with me. Forever.

Felicia: Miss me, okay? Just not too much.

Nick: Hey. I already miss you.

[Felicia sighs ]

Felicia: So long, captain.

Ridge: Dad, let me explain something --

Eric: No, let me understand exactly what it is you're proposing here. You want to honor me by naming me CEO emeritus, by stripping me of my power here and my title and putting me out to pasture someplace.

Thorne: You're kicking our father out of the company that he founded? The company that he built from the ground up?

Ridge: Dad's not going anywhere, Thorne. He's gonna be as much a part of Forrester Creations as he's always been --

Darla: Only he'll no longer be in charge? But you will.

Ridge: This company needs someone to make the tough decisions to keep us strong and vital.

Thorne: And you don't think dad can do that?

Ridge: I think he's been under a lot of stress, Thorne, ever since you left the company and became our competition.

Stephanie: Everyone has been under a lot of stress, Ridge.

Ridge: Exactly. That's why I'm taking dad out of the line of fire. Dad, you're caught between two sons here. You're thinking with your heart. In business, you can't let emotion cloud your judgment, here. That's why I felt I had to step in. That's why I can't allow Thorne to possibly --

Eric: No, you can't -- you can't allow? You can't?! My god, Ridge. What has gotten into you? A minute ago, you're telling me how much you admire me and my creativity and my leadership. And now you're telling me I'm incompetent. I made a decision, the right one. For this family.

Ridge: But not for this company. That's why I'm concerned.

Thorne: That's why you're pulling this coup!

Ridge: This is no coup.

Eric: It is a coup! And you're the enemy!

Ridge: I'm the enemy?! I'm the enemy? I'm looking out for your best interests here. And yours! And yours! And everybody in this building. Far be it for me to expect any "thank yous". I've practically run this place for years without a title, and now I'm considered the enemy.

Eric: Well, what would you call it? What else would you call it? You come into my office -- you come into my office -- with a knife in your hand, ready to stab me in the back? My own son! I know, I know, I know, you have all this Marone blood running through your veins. I'm more and more aware of that, believe me. But you're my son! I formed you. And I molded you into the man you are today. And you have no qualms about stripping from me, this company that I spend my whole life -- my whole adult life -- building. Not for me, mind you, but for my children. For you -- and my other children. A gift that your mother and I intended to give you. But you can't wait, can you? You can't wait to rip this out of my hands! Ridge, you just try. But, I'm warning you -- I'm going to fight you with everything I got!

Ridge: Brooke and I control this company with our voting stock.

Thorne: And god forbid anybody stand in your way.

Darla: Even your own father.

Eric: This is not gonna happen, Ridge! It's not gonna happen!

Ridge: It already has, dad. I am the new CEO of Forrester Creations. Or at least I will be, as I make a formal motion, and Brooke seconds it.

Stephanie: If she seconds it.

Ridge: Brooke and I have already made the decision.

Stephanie: No. You made the decision. And I have spoken to your wife. And she knows -- she knows it's the wrong decision, Ridge. Brooke --

[ Stephanie sighs ] Please listen to me. He's your husband and you love him, and you want to be loyal to him, I understand that. And Ridge will be CEO. But he has to wait his turn, Brooke. And you have to stand up to him and you have to stop him. Because you know, in your heart, it's the wrong decision. You're the only one that can save this family and this company. It's all up to you.
