Stephanie: Tom. Tom, don't go.

Thomas: Well, what's it gonna be? Are you ready to accept Amber and me as a couple? Because if you want me to stick around, I've got to hear you say it. Can you be cool with this? With us?

                        ****************************************************************************************

Darla: Sal, you think I should go in there, make sure everything's okay between Thorne and his dad?

Sally: Honey, I think it's better if we let them duke this one out on their own.

Darla: I don't understand why Eric is so upset in the first place.

Sally: We did hire his daughter and now we're going after some of his biggest accounts.

Darla: Well, yeah, that's just good old-fashioned competition. Thorne has looked up to his father his entire life. You know, what is it gonna take for him to give back just a shred of that respect? God, even Stephanie understands what he's doing and why he has to prove himself. But Eric, I don't know. You know, he says he understands, and he made a big deal about giving Thorne that line, but nothing's changed. Eric doesn't want Thorne running Forrester, Eric doesn't want Thorne running any company. Thorne can't win. And you know, tell you the truth, Sal, Eric doesn't think he can win.

                        **************************************************************************************

Thorne: Nothing I am doing here is disloyal. There are no more knock-offs. And I have hired my own design team.

Eric: Your sister! You hired your own sister! You're putting her right in the middle of this feud!

Thorne: There's no feud!

Eric: Oh, the hell there isn't! You're holding a grudge, Thorne, and you won't let it go. You're forcing everybody in this family to choose sides. Now what's that going to do to Felicia and ridge? Thorne, Felicia needs her family's support right now.

Thorne: Well, then he should be supporting her.

Eric: What, the way you are? Manipulating her to use her personal relationship with nick to get the Jackie-M account away from us?

Thorne: That's not what I'm doing -- it's not what I'm doing! But I am not making decisions based on what's best for Ridge.

Eric: Oh, who's it best for? Thorne, I've got to tell you, I don't see anybody coming out the winner here. Your mother is forced to stand there and watch her kids go at each other's throats. And I'm forced to referee between her and Brooke.

Thorne: So, this whole family's coming unglued and I'm responsible? Is that it? Is that what you're saying?

Eric: You're opening old wounds here. This family's bleeding out. You're forcing everyone to choose sides. And you're taking the whole mess public. Why? Why are you doing that?

                        ****************************************************************************************

Stephanie: I can't promise you that.

Thomas: Fine. We're out of here.

Stephanie: Tom. I can't let you walk out of here, either.

Thomas: That's not your choice to make.

Stephanie: Well, I guess in a way it is, though, isn't it? Hear me out.

Amber: Oh, come on. Please? Please?

Stephanie: Tom, you just said that I don't listen to you. That actually no one listens to you. And there's a lot of truth to that. So maybe we need to change it.

Thomas: Oh, really?

Stephanie: Yes, really. You know, this relationship has come as quite a shock to your me and to your father. So maybe we just need some time to adjust to the idea.

Thomas: Well, dad's at least trying to adjust. You're not even putting forth --

Stephanie: I know. I know. I overreacted today.

Thomas: To a tuna fish sandwich.

Stephanie: Well, nobody knew it was a tuna fish sandwich, did they, Tom? And maybe some good has come out of this pregnancy scare. I'd like to think we all learned a lesson today.

Thomas: I know, I know. We need to be a lot more careful.

Stephanie: Well, you should have been, shouldn't you?

Thomas: And what did you learn, exactly? Oh, no, wait, let me guess. You have even more ammo against us now? I bet you called my dad already, didn't you? That's why you're stalling. You know what? I can't deal with this. Let's go.

Amber: No, no, no, no. Thomas, Thomas, Thomas, wait. Just one sec, okay? What were you gonna to say?

Stephanie: It's clear to me that you have very strong feelings for one another.

Thomas: It is?

Stephanie: Yes, because you stood up for each other at a very difficult moment. And that says a lot .

Amber: What?

Stephanie: Maybe you need some space. Maybe you need some time to sort of figure out what exactly it is that the two of you share. If that's the case, then I would like it to be here.

Amber: What do you mean?

Stephanie: I think you should move in here with Eric and with me. You do need a place, don't you?

Amber: Yeah, but --

Stephanie: Well, Bridget's off in Copenhagen for the rest of the year. Plenty of room.

Amber: Room? For me?

Thomas: No, no, no, no, there's a catch.

Stephanie: It's a win-win situation. You need a place to stay. Eric and I get to keep an eye on you. And the two of you have the opportunity to show the rest of the family how special this relationship is.

Amber: Really, Stephanie? I mean, you would do that?

Thomas: I want to talk to Amber about this in private.

Stephanie: Fine.

                        ***********************************************************************************

Sally: Come on, now, honey. Eric loves Thorne. Of course, he does.

Darla: I know. I know. I know. I know he loves him, but he just expects him to stay in this little box.

Sally: Well, you've got to remember, behind that dimpled-attractive exterior, lies a very, very proud man. Now what does it say to the world if his first-born son has to get away from him in order to be successful?

Darla: Well, it says that Eric has been wrong -- very wrong -- about Thorne, and what he's capable of. I just wish he could face it. You know, admit it. That'll probably never happen.

Sally: Well, possibly not. But it would mean the world to Thorne if it did happen, wouldn't it?

Darla: Sal, you have no idea. Probably change his life.

                        ******************************************************************************

Thorne: So it's pointless, what I'm trying to do here? That's what you're trying to tell me?

Eric: Thorne, you've made your point. We took advantage of you at Forrester. We didn't give you enough credit. I acknowledged that. I apologized for it. I gave you the designs that you stole from us. An entire collection. And you took it. But it wasn't enough for you. You came back for more. You made a move to buy my company.

Thorne: I shouldn't have done that, dad.

Eric: You shouldn't have done any of it! Why can't you just let this go?

Thorne: Make things easier for you, wouldn't it?

Eric: For me? For you, Thorne. I mean, look at the way you're living your life. With all this anger and this bitterness. You're just wallowing in it. That can't be the way you want to live your life. It's not the kind of life I want for you. I love you. I want you to be happy.

Thorne: That's the key to happiness? For me just to give up?

Eric: Well, you think punishing me is the answer?

Thorne: No, but --

Eric: God, then why are you doing this? Why are you putting us all through this? Why put yourself through it?

Thorne: Yeah, why bother, huh? Why bother when no good can come from it? When everything's just going to blow up in my face? Because that's what you think, right? I'm just tearing this family apart, because I have a very slim shot at success, right? That's what you think, isn't it? Isn't it? Admit it, dad. Admit it.

Eric: All right, yes, I admit it. That's exactly what I think.

Thorne: That's why I'm doing it.

Eric: Because it's impossible?

Thorne: Because you think it's impossible. Because you don't think that I have it in me to succeed.

                        *****************************************************************************************

Amber: I can't believe this.

Thomas: Neither can I.

Amber: Thomas, she really wants me to stay here. I mean, this could be great.

Thomas: Yeah, I don't know how great it would be, because we wouldn't have any privacy.

Amber: Yeah, but think what we would have, though. I mean, this could be huge. I mean, a chance to win Stephanie over. And with her on our side, everyone else would have to start coming around. I mean, that's what happened with Rick and me. When we first started out, she took me in and she became our ally.

Thomas: She's not our ally. Five minutes ago, she was telling us we couldn't see each other anymore. Look, I'm sorry, okay, I know you're excited about this. But I can't shake this feeling that we're being played.

                        ********************************************************************************

Ridge: Hello?

Stephanie: Ridge.

Ridge: Mother?

Stephanie: I need you to come to the house. Tom and Amber are here.

Ridge: What? Why?

Stephanie: Look, it's too long to go into. Suffice to say, they wanted to run off together.

Ridge: Oh, what?

Stephanie: I've stopped them. I've stopped them. But I need your help. Come over here right now.

Ridge: I'll be right there.

                                    *************************************************************************

Stephanie: That didn't take long. So is this an offer that you can't refuse?

Amber: It's a very generous offer, it is. But, um, we don't know.

Stephanie: What's holding you back?

Amber: I guess I'm just a little confused. Now, earlier, you were reaming us out, telling us that our relationship was wrong. And now, all of a sudden, you want to give us a chance? Come on, Stephanie, what's the deal?

Thomas: You're bribing us to stay put, aren't you?

Stephanie: Well, even if I am, it benefits you, doesn't it?

Amber: Yeah, but I need it to be so much more than that. I want a chance, a chance to show you that I am a different person.

Stephanie: I'd like to believe that.

Amber: That's all I need. That's all I need. I just need a willingness that you're going to believe in me again. Because if you have that, if you keep that, if you keep an open mind, then you will see that I am with Thomas for all the right reasons. I just need a chance, Stephanie. I need a real chance to show you that.

Stephanie: I'll give you that chance.

Amber: Thank you. Thank you so much, Stephanie. You are not going to be sorry about this. Okay?

Stephanie: I'm sure I won't be.

                        ********************************************************************************

Eric: Thorne, you have been successful. You have a wonderful family. You have a loving, supportive wife.

Thorne: I know that. But in business, in the fashion world, you don't think I stand a chance.

Eric: Well, son, you're trying to turn a knock-off shop into a couture house. It's an exercise in futility.

Thorne: Oh, really? Is that what you told ridge when he came here? Did you come charging over here and demanding that he quit, to save himself the humiliation of failure? Did you, dad? No. Because that message was meant solely for me.

Eric: Thorne, that was entirely different. Ridge is a designer, he has a worldwide reputation. He has experience --

Thorne: Yeah, whatever, okay?

Eric: Look, Thorne, there's no shame in admitting that you've bitten off more than you can chew. I mean, nobody's going to think any differently of you.

Thorne: Maybe I want people to think differently of me. Maybe I want to think differently of myself. To erase the seeds of doubt that you planted in my brain, dad.

Eric: That I planted?

Thorne: You didn't even know you were doing it, okay? I realize that. But it was there -- every damn day of my life, it was there. That same message, the same one that you are bringing me here today. "Ridge could do it, but you can't, Thorne. So quit. Don't even try."

Eric: Son.

Thorne: "Why?" And you know what, dad? You want to know the worst -- the worst part is, I believed it, because it was coming from you. My father. My father, the smartest man on the earth. The guy who knew everything. So I listen to you. I listen to you. And I did quit, I stopped, dad, and I sat on the sidelines. Because I didn't want to embarrass myself. And I didn't want to embarrass you. Didn't want to embarrass you. Who's voices are still there today, even when you are not here. They're telling me to quit. They're telling me it's hopeless. To give up. But you know what the difference is? You know what the difference is today? I'm not listening. I'm not listening. Because I'm going to find out how far I can go. And I'm not going to ask for your permission, I'm not going to ask for forgiveness and I am sure as hell not going to feel guilty. And if my being a success or trying to be a success is so damn hard on this family, then maybe the family failed me. It failed me!

                        ********************************************************************************

Amber: You think I'm making a mistake.

Thomas: It's just really hard for me to trust grandma right now.

Amber: She probably does think that we're gonna fall apart.

Thomas: This is like, reverse psychology.

Amber: So what? Let her think that. It's still a step in the right direction. She's opening her doors to me. Which means, she is opening the doors to us, just a little. Hey, this means we can finally hang out like a normal couple.

Thomas: That would be nice.

Amber: Mm-hmm.

Thomas: And we are pretty darn cute together. Grandma wouldn't be able to resist us.

Amber: Yeah, well I can't resist you.

                        *************************************************************************************

Ridge: Where are they?

Stephanie: On the terrace. Don't go there.

Ridge: Mother, what's going on?

Stephanie: I took her to the doctor today for a pregnancy test. It was negative, it was negative. And they did those STD tests. Those were negative, too. It was food poisoning, thank god.

Ridge: Wait, I thought Amber couldn't get pregnant.

Stephanie: Well that's what she thought, but she was wrong. And I know what you're gonna say. But I was there. I saw the look on her face. She's not trying to trap him.

Ridge: This has gone too far.

Stephanie: I agree with you. But I want to tell you what your son said. He told me they'd run off together --

Ridge: For god sakes.

Stephanie: And he's serious. I've asked Amber to come and live here. Well, do you want them to run off together? I don't know what else to do. I mean, what's behind door number three.

Ridge: Well, you're enabling them.

Stephanie: No, I'm not. I'm going to use this as an opportunity to make them understand what a mistake this relationship is. Let's just hope this is the beginning of the end of this relationship.

                        ************************************************************************************

Eric: Thorne, listen to me. You've got this all wrong.

Thorne: No doubt.

Eric: Look, everybody has different abilities, different talents. We've always encouraged each and every one of you to find your own niche.

Thorne: So long as we stayed out of Ridge's way.

Eric: No.

Thorne: We weren't supposed to challenge Ridge, Dad. In anything. It was an unwritten rule.

Eric: I don't agree with that.

Thorne: Oh, come on, Dad, you showed it a thousand different ways. Ridge would come home with a "b" and you would kick his butt. What the hell's a matter with him, why doesn't he try harder? I'd come home with a "b," the same class, the same teacher. "Good for you, Throne. Way to go." I know you weren't trying to hurt me, Dad. It wasn't your fault that you couldn't see in me what you saw in him. I wonder sometimes. What did I do? What did that little kid ever do to convince you that he just didn't have it in him? That he just wasn't going to make you proud?

Eric: But I was, Thorne. I was, I was proud.

Thorne: Yeah, that I was doing the best I could? Given my limitations? You want me to let go of this anger? I'm trying. But you want me to give up, you want me to quit. Or buy into this idea that I don't I have a shot. Well forget it, 'cause I'm not gonna do it. Not anymore. Because I can do this, Dad. And I'm going to do this. And not just for myself, but I'm going to do it for everyone out there who quit, or who gave up too soon because they never had anyone to tell them that, "I believe in you." There're a lot of us out there, Dad. And a lot of us are in your own family.

Eric: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, son.
