Ridge: Thanks for helping out. Drive carefully. Okay.

Brooke: Thomas?

Ridge: Yeah, he just dropped Steffy and Phoebe off at the marina.

Brooke: They're gonna have fun sailing with Brianna and her parents.

Ridge: Beats the heck out of spending the day with your old man.

Brooke: Oh, Ridge.

Ridge: Never mind it's their last day off school for weeks. Or that I took the whole day off to hang out with them. I mean, how often does that happen?

Brooke: About as often as your brother decides to launch a new line at Spectra.

Ridge: Is that today? That's today? I'd forgotten all about it.

Brooke: Uh-huh. You know, you're sending a message that you're not really worried about this preview of his.

Ridge: I'm not. Not at all.

Eric: Well, I'm worried. This showing may not be a big deal to you, ridge, but it's a very big deal to Thorne. I can assure you. And to everybody else over at Spectra. They've been trying to best us for years, and today, thanks to your brother, they think they might finally accomplish that.

[ Indistinctive talking ]

Clarke: Paint's dry? Good. All right, gang, chop, chop, chop! We've got just under 30 minutes and counting! All right?

Darla: Sally would be lovin' this.

Clarke: Oh, you bet she would.

Darla: You know, I stopped by her place this morning.

Clarke: Yes?

Darla: She was so excited. And I think if C.J. Wouldn't have been there to stop her, she would have jumped out of bed and hobbled down here.

Clarke: Well, she's here in spirit, I can tell you that. And this is -- this is the most amazing moment of her professional life. I mean, for years, she's been going head-to-head down the runway with the Forresters, and now she's going to come out on top. She'll be the undisputed champion.

Darla: Yeah. Cause quite a sensation, huh?

Clarke: So, are you ready for that? Is Thorne?

Darla: I don't know. I don't know. Thorne was kind of quiet this morning.

Clarke: He's not having second thoughts, is he?

Darla: He's never done anything like this, Clarke. I mean, he stole designs from his father and from his brother.

Clarke: They didn't exactly treat him like family. They forced him out of the company, they humiliated him.

Darla: I know. I know, I know.

Clarke: He doesn't owe 'em a damn thing. Where is he?

Darla: Clarke, don't. No, don't.

Clarke: I won't. If you're serious, and he's gonna back out --

Darla: No, no, no, I didn't say that. I just don't know exactly what he's thinking.

Man: Excuse, Mr. Garrison, we need you over here, please.

Clarke: Darla, talk to him. Make him understand. Whatever happens, we can't quit now.

Thorne: President.

You're giving me the job?

Eric: You earned it.

Darla: I told you.

Thorne: Thank you.

Stephanie: Oh, I love you,

sweet boy.

Darla: Hi.

Thorne: Hey. Is everything ready out there?

Darla: Just about. You know, it's still not too late.

Thorne: Too late?

Darla: To call it off. It has crossed your mind, hasn't it?

Thorne: Once I take this step, there is no going back.

Darla: Then don't take it. Not unless you are absolutely sure. Honey, spectra will survive. I know that you can turn this company around even without your father's designs.

Thorne: This goal isn't just about financial success.

Darla: I know. I know. You want to get through to your family. But maybe there's another way you can do that. One that won't tear you up inside. Thorne, whatever you decide, I love you and I support you. I just wanted you to know that.

[ Knock at door ]

Thorne: Mother, what are you doing here?

Stephanie: Well, I came, because I -- I just can't believe you're going to go through with this. Thorne, you can't.

Ridge: Thorne and Sally are delusional if they think they're gonna take a bite out of our market.

Eric: Ridge, they've been very, very secretive. There has to be a good reason for that.

Ridge: It's all a ploy, Dad. You know, it's hype for their line, for their preview. The moment their line hits the runway, it'll be obvious they can't live up to it.

Rick: Hey, everybody.

Caitlin: Hey.

Ridge: You didn't tell me you invited Rick and Caitlin.

Brooke: Well, you said it was a family day, so --

Ridge: Yeah, but you know how I feel about the two of them being together.

Rick: Yeah, ridge, we all know. If our being here is a problem -- is it a problem?

Brooke: Hope, sweetie, could you get R.J. Some juice? It's in the fridge. Please? Thanks.

Caitlin: Maybe we'd better go.

Rick: Is that what you want, Ridge? You want us to leave?

Brooke: Rick, he's not saying that you're not welcome.

Rick: But he is saying that he still doesn't accept my relationship with Caitlin, right?

Ridge: Let me put it this way. I'm not that comfortable with you guys meeting here behind Hector's back.

Caitlin: My dad knows I'm here.

Ridge: He's okay with that?

Caitlin: Okay I'm still seeing Rick, you mean?

Ridge: Do I have to remind you how you wound up in the hospital in the first place? Your dad was laying down the law about all this. He threatened to go to the cops?

Caitlin: Look, Dad was upset, okay? He didn't understand.

Eric: And he understands now?

Caitlin: Well, he's not thrilled, but he trusts me.

Rick: And we're not gonna do anything to mess that up.

Brooke: That puts all of our minds at ease.

Ridge: What about Thomas? He's on his way home right now.

Rick: Come on, Ridge, don't worry about that, okay? Look, the last thing we want to do is rub our relationship in thomas' face.

Caitlin: I still care about him a lot.

Rick: I mean, actually, I'm surprised to see you here -- today of all days.

Eric: If you're referring to the Spectra couture line, Ridge is making a statement.

Ridge: I just feel like the family's been through enough the last while. We could all use a little time to chill out!

Eric: Well, your mother's not chilling out. She's over at Spectra right now trying to convince Thorne that he belongs with us.

Ridge: Yeah, well, that's not gonna work. Because Mr. Stubborn is not budging.

Eric: Well, she's not giving up.

Darla: I'll give you some time alone with your mother.

Thorne: Okay.

Darla: Okay.

Stephanie: Thank you, Darla.

Thorne: If this is going to be a repeat of last time --

Stephanie: No. No, I realize that we all said things that we -- we didn't mean.

Thorne: Speak for yourself, Mother.

Stephanie: I know you're still upset with your father and me.

Thorne: No, I've moved on, as you can see.

Stephanie: Honey, you don't belong here. And especially under these circumstances.

Thorne: I didn't create the circumstances.

Stephanie: No, I know you didn't. But that doesn't mean that we can't fix what happened.

Thorne: Some things just can't be fixed, Mother.

Stephanie: Well, this isn't one of those things. I was thinking when I was driving -- well, I was remembering the day we made you president and how proud I was of you. Honey, can't you please forgive us? Give us a chance to make up for the hurt that we've caused you?

Thorne: By coming back to Forrester?

Stephanie: We can make it work.

Thorne: We couldn't make it work the first time. So what's different, Mother? What's changed?

Stephanie: You, for one thing.

Thorne: Yes, I have. And I am never going to settle for second-best ever again. So don't ask me to.

Ridge: I still say mother's wasting her time. There's no way Thorne's gonna back down at the last minute.

Eric: This isn't about Thorne backing down, Ridge, this is about -- this is about our family --

Ridge: It's about you and mother is what it's about. You guys laying all this guilt on yourselves.

Thomas: Hey, hey, hey! Let the good times roll! The life of the party is here and -- he's wondering whose brilliant idea this was?

Ridge: Don't look at me.

Thomas: Ah. The wicked stepmother.

Brooke: Sorry. I know it's a little awkward, but --

Thomas: Nah, it's cool. Caitlin, lookin' good.

Caitlin: Thanks.

Thomas: So, who's up for a game of water limbo?

Hope: I am.

Brooke: That sounds like fun.

Thomas: Hey, don't feel left out, buddy, you can hold the hose.

Rick: All right.

Caitlin: Wait, how do you play?

Thomas: Oh, we have to go to the shallow end. We need the garden hose.

Brooke: I'm going to put R.J. Down for a nap.

Ridge: All right.

Eric: Thomas' attitude seems to have improved.

Ridge: He's still a little bent out of shape that I laid down the law with Amber.

Eric: Yeah, literally.

Ridge: He knows I'm just taking care of him. He may not like it, but he's accepted it. If only Thorne were that mature.

Eric: I should have heard from your mother by now.

Ridge: She's not going to tell you anything new.

Eric: Well, I'm not going to give up hope.

Ridge: Me, neither. I'm hoping the preview's a big, fat flop.

Eric: Yeah, just exactly what would that accomplish?

Ridge: It would tell Thorne that you and I are not responsible for the bad things that happen in his life. We have nothing to do with this preview. At least, we better not.

Stephanie: Thorne, I'm not asking you to settle for anything. I'm just asking you to make sure you've thought this through really carefully. Do you really think you win if you lash out at your family? At the family that loves you? At the father that's taught you everything you know?

Thorne: And told me what I knew was of no value?

Stephanie: He didn't say that.

Thorne: He didn't need me, mother. Well, he was wrong. And he's going to find out just how wrong he is. You know what? I didn't want it to turn out this way.

Stephanie: I know you didn't.

Thorne: I practically -- I practically begged you to see me for who I am, mother -- a leader. That I was more than capable of taking Forrester Creations into the future. But you and dad, you just couldn't imagine that.

Stephanie: Of course we could.

Thorne: Well, you won't have to worry about it now. Because I'm going to show you. I'm going to show you what Forrester could have been with my help and what it will never be without it.

Stephanie: Honey, no one ever doubted your capabilities.

Thorne: Is this concern about me? Is that what this is?

Stephanie: Yes, of course, it is. I don't think you've really thought about the future, Thorne.

Thorne: I have. And all I can say is, it's not your problem anymore. Not that it ever was. 'Cause you see, mother, I'm not counting on my family for support anymore, because it's not there. I learned the hard way. You have to make it on your own in this world. You have to create your own success. And that is exactly what I am doing.

Stephanie: How far are you prepared to go? I know about the fabric suppliers.

Thorne: Trust me, Mother, that's the least of your worries.

Stephanie: What are you planning, Thorne?

Thorne: Well, let's just say, I know how the game is played now, and I am going to play it to the fullest.

Caitlin: Oh, my gosh.

Rick: Oh, man.

Thomas: Here you go.

Caitlin: Thank you, Thomas.

Thomas: Here you go.

Caitlin: I'm sure that was a mistake, right?

Rick: It was an accident. I swear.

Thomas: Uh-huh.

Rick: You believe me, right?

Thomas: That a girl, Hope, can't trust that guy.

Rick: You know what? Hey, I think we left the hose on, you want to go turn it off with me? Okay, let's go.

Thomas: Lemonade, mademoiselle?

Caitlin: Oh, thank you.

Thomas: You're very welcome.

Caitlin: So, I heard what your dad did. The restraining order.

Thomas: Yeah. Talk about overkill.

Caitlin: You must've been really upset with him.

Thomas: Yeah, I was, for about a second.

Caitlin: Really? I mean, I would've thrown a fit.

Thomas: Yeah, well, your dad's okay with you and Rick now, right?

Caitlin: He's trying. We told him about our decision to slow things way, way down.

Thomas: Things? What things?

Caitlin: You know.

Thomas: I know, I'm just giving you a hard time. I think it's great that you guys are waiting.

Caitlin: Yeah, well, some things are just worth waiting for. You know?

Thomas: Yes. Yes, I do. I'm gonna go for a swim.

Caitlin: Thomas, your back.

Thomas: What about it?

Caitlin: Are those scratch marks?

Ridge: R.J. Okay?

Brooke: Yeah. I'll bring him back out after his nap. So did I miss anything?

Ridge: I'm still trying to convince dad that we have nothing to worry about with Forrester's newest rival.

Eric: I'll say it again, Ridge. Don't be so quick to dismiss your brother. He's already taken all the fabrics you had on order over to spectra.

Ridge: That can't possibly amount to anything. He has no designs to back them up.

Eric: Ridge, we don't know that.

Ridge: Come on. Thorne may bring a lot to the table here, but he's not a designer. There's no way that collection can live up to all the buzz.

Eric: It's really down to the wire now. I just hope Stephanie can get through to him.

Stephanie: You sound so ruthless.

Thorne: So much like Ridge, you mean?

Stephanie: Don't blame him for your choices now.

Thorne: I'm not. I'm through blaming. I'm through complaining. You want something in life, you go get it. That's what I've learned.

Stephanie: I've learned, too, honey. I've learned some very painful lessons. And I -- Thorne, I'm sorry. I am so sorry. I -- I can't believe that this is too late.

Clarke: What is going on in here?

Stephanie: Not now, please, Clarke.

Clarke: No. No. I know what you're up to.

Thorne: Mother was just --

Clarke: No, no, no, she was just doing what she usually does -- trying to guilt you into surrendering.

Stephanie: No, that is not what this is about.

Clarke: Oh, you're not trying to get him to cancel the showing? Give up his shot at the big time? Thorne, I hope you are not listening to this. They had their chance, they had years to give you your due. But what do they do instead? They give it all to ridge. Pump up his ego, leave little brother behind -- again. And don't you deny it. I've seen it. We've all seen it for years. Do you know what you're going to see this time? You're going to see what a mistake you made not believing in this man.

Stephanie: But I do believe in my son. I've always believed in him.

Clarke: Right. That's why you forced him out of the company.

Stephanie: You'll never, never know how your father and I agonized over that decision. We're so angry with ourselves that we couldn't find a way to make it work. We're so -- we just keep hoping that it will all work out. Honey, the truth is, without you there -- I know we hurt you. I know you're still hurting. I understand that and -- I refuse to believe that my son is lost to me. I refuse to believe that we can't make this work out, that we can't heal the wounds that are existing right now between us, that we can't start over again. I love you, honey. I love you. Your father loves you. And we want you to come back. Please? I'm begging you now. Give me one chance. Give your father one chance. We can make it right. We can. I promise you, you'll never feel second-best ever again.
