Nick: Morning.

Felicia: Why are you looking at me like that? Is it my hair?

Nick: It's the hair, it's the eyes, it's the jaw line -- you look even more like your brother when you're asleep.

Felicia: Is this your way of telling me to get out?

Nick: No. No, no, no. I'm just thinking, that's all. Just thinking.

Felicia: About Ridge?

Nick: First I'm with his wife, now I'm with his sister. You know, people may begin to think I have a bit of a problem.

Felicia: Well, you're going to have a problem with me if you keep talking like this.

Nick: Okay, shh. Don't want to be on your bad side.

Felicia: It was fun.

Nick: Fun? That's it? I was thinking more earth-shattering or life affirming, but fun's good, too.

Felicia: Nick --

Nick: No, it's all right. Don't worry about me. I'm fine.

Felicia: Look at me. I think you know what last night meant to me. Thank you.

Nick: Anytime. And I do mean that.

Felicia: I don't know, I mean -- maybe we should just quit while we're ahead, you know? Just leave this as it was, you know, like the perfect memory.

Nick: Hmm, just two ships passing in the night. I like that.

Thomas: Your mom told me you were home.

Rick: Got released this morning.

Thomas: How you feeling?

Rick: Okay.

Thomas: You need anything?

Rick: No, mom's got the kitchen pretty well stocked.

Thomas: Yeah, she's been really worried about you.

Rick: Look, Thomas, if you came here to apologize --

Thomas: Apologize?

Rick: Well, for what happened.

Thomas: You blame me?

Rick: Why would I blame you? All you did was tell Hector I've been seducing his daughter.

Thomas: I didn't tell him to hit you with his car.

Rick: You knew how he'd react.

Thomas: I just told the truth, Rick.

Rick: So you don't feel any responsibility at all?

Thomas: You know what? I'm not the one who lured Caitlin into bed. If you someone to blame for this, look into the mirror.

[ Knock on door ]

Hector: Caty? Honey, we have to talk.

Caitlin: I have nothing to say to you.

Hector: Well, there's a lot that I have to say to you.

Caitlin: You have already made yourself very clear.

Hector: Look -- at the hospital, I was upset.

Caitlin: We all were. Rick could have been killed.

Hector: I never meant to hurt him. Do you believe me?

Caitlin: Yes.

Hector: I don't want to fight with you anymore.

Caitlin: I don't want that, either. I hate arguing like this.

Hector: Okay, so let's not, all right?

Caitlin: Okay.

Hector: Let's just have a calm and rational discussion.

Caitlin: About Rick? Can you do that?

Hector: Yeah. Maybe not, honey. Can we just talk about you? Can we talk about your goals, your future?

Caitlin: Then we are talking about Rick. Because he's going to be part of that future.

[ Cell phone rings ]

Felicia: Oh, ignore it. It's mine.

Nick: Could be important, though. Don't you think?

Felicia: Oh, I don't care.

[ Phone still ringing ]

Nick: Could be your doctor with some more good news. Here.

Felicia: Hello?

Stephanie: Good morning, Felicia.

Felicia: Well, Mother.

Stephanie: You all right? You sound a little out of breath.

Felicia: Uh, no. I was just getting in my morning workout. Could I call you back?

Stephanie: Well, actually, I called because I thought you might come to the house for lunch.

Felicia: Lunch? Oh, I don't know. I really have plans for today.

Nick: Your schedule just loosened up.

Felicia: What is it that you wanted to talk to me about?

Stephanie: Well, the last time you were here, I mean, it was -- it didn't go particularly well.

Felicia: Oh, right, when you accused me of being a drug addict. Oh, please don't tell me this is some kind of intervention.

Stephanie: No. I just wanted to see you, see what's going on in your life.

Felicia: Okay, all right. I'll be there soon, okay? Bye. Happy?

Nick: Well, you should be. Sounds like she's reaching out to you.

Felicia: She just wants to interrogate me.

Nick: Well then, tell her the truth. Maybe you'll make her feel bad for calling you an addict.

Felicia: Nah. She'll probably just bite my head off for not telling her sooner. I mean, I can't even do cancer right.

Nick: Well, maybe she'll surprise you. You know, you got a second chance. Maybe you should give your mom one.

Rick: First off, I didn't "lure" Caitlin into bed.

Thomas: I was here, remember? Right after she left. You were all suave out in your robe.

Rick: Not that it's any of your business, but nothing happened.

Thomas: Because she got busted.

Rick: Because she wasn't ready.

Thomas: Guess you're not as smooth as you thought.

Rick: I was the one who stopped it. You don't get it, do you, Thomas? You think this all about sex, but it's not. We're in love. And I'm not saying that to hurt you.

Thomas: Why would it hurt me? I've moved on.

Rick: With Amber?

Thomas: That's right. I'm fine with you and Caitlin. Hector's the one you got to worry about.

Rick: Well, I'm not worried about him. Caitlin and I want to be together, and we will be. And there's nothing he or anybody else can do to stop that.

Hector: You and Rick haven't known each other very long.

Caitlin: How long did it take you to figure out mom was the one?

Hector: I know that you think that scores you points -- comparing your situation with ours.

Caitlin: No, Dad. It's not about points. I'm trying to get through to you. Make you understand. It never used to be this hard.

Hector: You never lied to me before.

Caitlin: Well, I didn't have to lie to mom. She understood where I was coming from. She trusted my judgment.

Hector: Your mother was scared to death, Caty. Scared she would lose you. And you took advantage of that.

Caitlin: No --

Hector: Yeah, and you put pressure on her relationship with me, honey.

Caitlin: I'm sorry about that. Are you guys okay?

Hector: We're fine. You know, but keeping this from me was wrong. I understand why she did it, you know? She thought you would think that she was a hypocrite. She didn't realize that being a parent, you can't worry about that. You have to do what's right for your children, no matter what. Even if it means that they might hate you for it.

Stephanie: Felicia, you came.

Felicia: Well, I said I would.

Stephanie: Well, I know, but I wasn't sure.

Felicia: Oh, whether you're druggie flake of a daughter would actually show? Well, here I am. Wow!

Stephanie: Felicia --

Felicia: Maybe we should just, you know, go and eat. Or maybe you want to search my belongings first, we could get that out of the way. No?

Stephanie: You didn't have to come.

Felicia: Are you sorry I did?

Stephanie: No, I wanted to see you. But you're just so defensive about everything, it gets a little heavy. Look, I promise -- I'll tell you what. You promise me that you'll back off and I promise I won't attack. I'm very happy that you came here. Your dad and I have been very worried about you.

Felicia: Great. Here comes the inquisition.

Stephanie: No, no, no, no. Look, I -- I want to know what's going on in your life. But I'm certainly not going to pry. I want you to stay.

Felicia: Just to talk?

Stephanie: Yeah. Something we should have done a long time ago. More of. Felicia, what's done is done. No sense in trying to rehash the past.

Felicia: Wow, this is new.

Stephanie: I'm trying.

Felicia: 'Cause you're scared. You're afraid of what I might try to do to myself. There's no need.

Stephanie: Felicia, look -- I know I haven't been, in your opinion, the best mother. I mean, I've come to understand that in recent days. But I'm still worried about you.

Felicia: I'm trying to tell you that you don't have to.

Stephanie: Your dad and I -- well, I mean, the family -- we want to help you.

Felicia: Mother, there's something that I have to tell you. I've been lying to you, to everybody. You know, about the whole glamorous life in Europe, the friends, the boyfriends, the partying around the continent -- that all ended a long time ago. I did not come home because I didn't want to. I didn't come home because there was something that I had to take care of for myself. There's something that I had to deal with on my own. And that is that I was preparing myself to die.

Thomas: Oh, right, yeah. It's you and Caitlin against the world.

Rick: We're not "against" anybody.

Thomas: She didn't used to be, you know? You turned her against her own father, had her lying to him.

Rick: Oh, come on, man. Who are you kidding? You didn't rat us out to protect Caitlin, you did it to get back at me because you were hurt that I stole your girlfriend --

Thomas: It's got nothing to do with that.

Rick: -- And I understand.

Thomas: You understand nothing. I went to hector to make the point that you and Caitlin is no different than amber and me. And you're a huge hypocrite for coming down on us.

Rick: And it didn't even occur to you that if hector wouldn't let me see her, Caitlin would be available?

Thomas: No.

Rick: Of course not. Because she's not going to be available. No matter what hector does -- so all these things that your doing to get over the hurt -- hooking up with amber, trying to break Caitlin and I apart --

Thomas: You don't know what you're talking about.

Rick: They won't work. All you're doing is pushing away the people that care about you the most. Your dad, my mom, me, Caitlin. She cares about you, Thomas, she really likes you. It's just, it's not love. And it's not her fault, okay? She can't help it. So give her a break. Give us all a break, just learn to accept it.

Hector: I know you think I'm trying to ruin your life.

Caitlin: No, I don't think that. You were just trying to protect me. You just way, way overboard.

Hector: Yeah. I know. I never should have raced out of here like that.

Caitlin: And I never should have said the things that I did. You were just, you were driving me so nuts. You know, everybody else thinks of me as an adult. Everybody else has faith in me. Except you, the one person whose opinion matters more than anything.

Hector: By "everyone else," you mean Rick, his family, his fashion world. Yeah, it's true, I see differently.

Caitlin: Yeah, as a little girl.

Hector: As my reason for living. Caty, I wish I could explain it to you, honey. What it's like to have a child, how it changes you. Especially me. You're all I've ever had. From the first moment I held you, every decision I made -- where we lived, where I worked, what I drive, what I read, when we ate , who my friends were -- all of it came down to one thing -- was it best for you, honey? Because I knew, from the very beginning, how special you were. And what great things you were going to do with your life if I could just keep you safe. No one was ever going to hurt you, or take advantage of you, or your sweetness, or your innocence --

Caitlin: And no one has. Dad.

Hector: My baby.

Caitlin: I knew you'd be worried. That's why I didn't tell you that I was dating Rick. But I should have and I'm sorry.

Hector: And, I'm sorry, too. About the way I reacted.

Caitlin: I understand.

Hector: Do you?

Caitlin: Yes. Can we just put this all behind us?

Hector: There's nothing I would like better. Can you do that, too?

Caitlin: Yeah. I want us to start over. Do things the way we should have, from the beginning.

Hector: Okay.

Caitlin: You know, maybe I could invite Rick over for dinner?

Hector: Caitlin?

Caitlin: Dad, the sooner you get to know him, the sooner --

Hector: I don't want to get to know him.

Caitlin: Well then, how else are we going to put this all behind us?

Hector: No, no. We're going to put Rick behind us, and this job.

Caitlin: You just said you were sorry.

Hector: I said I was sorry about the way I reacted. But this relationship is completely inappropriate for a girl your age.

Caitlin: You haven't changed your mind at all! You won't even consider the possibility that --

Hector: Caitlin, Caitlin -- we tried this your way, remember? You said you could be trusted, that you could handle the responsibility.

Caitlin: And I can.

Hector: No. You are going to be a normal high school student, dating boys your own age.

Caitlin: No, I'll move out first. Do you understand? I am not giving up Rick or my job.

Hector: Caitlin --

Caitlin: No, if you won't listen to me, if you don't care about how I feel, then why should I listen to you?

Stephanie: Preparing to die?

Felicia: I know you're going to be upset with me for not telling you sooner --

Stephanie: No!

Felicia: I just -- this was just something that I really felt that I needed to handle on my own.

Stephanie: But you've come home, now, because you didn't want to be alone?

Felicia: Yeah. I needed my mother.

Stephanie: Oh, Felicia, honey. I would have been there. I would have. Why didn't you call me?

Felicia: I wanted to, so many times when I was laying in the hospital.

Stephanie: In the hospital? So, you got treatment?

Felicia: Yes.

Stephanie: But it didn't help?

Felicia: No, no, it has. I'm just not done yet. I have a long road ahead of me.

Stephanie: I know, I know. And your father and I will be with you, every step, I promise. We'll get you into the very best rehab possible.

Felicia: No, no. I don't need rehab. Mother, I'm ill.

Stephanie: I know.

Felicia: No, no, no. You don't understand. The pills that you think I'm taking are not killing me. They're keeping me alive.

Stephanie: What?

Felicia: I'm not a drug addict, Mom. I'm a cancer patient. I have cancer.
