Brooke: Mm. Well, this is certainly a nice welcome home.

Ridge: I figured you could use a little stress relief.

Brooke: After my confrontation with Hector?

Ridge: Sorry you had to be there for that.

Brooke: But you're not sorry it happened, right? You think Rick had it coming.

Ridge: Not the getting run over part, no.

Brooke: No, but Hector getting on his case.

Ridge: It's nothing I haven't done, given a similar circumstance.

Brooke: Are you comparing Rick and Caitlin to Thomas and Amber?

Ridge: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: They're nothing alike. Rick really cares about Caitlin.

Ridge: Well, then, he should know better and do the right thing, and stay away from her until she's 18.

Brooke: By which time, you're hoping that she'll be with Thomas, right?

Ridge: Why are we talking about this, huh? In fact, why are we even talking, at all? Did you miss me? A little bit?

Brooke: Mm, a little.

Ridge: Just a little?

Brooke: Just a little.

Ridge: Just a little. Come here.

Stephanie: Oh, for god's sakes.

Brooke: Oh, for god's sakes, Stephanie!

Stephanie: Lord, did I miss this? No.

Ridge: Well, I missed my wife, so if you don't mind --

Stephanie: This'll just take a moment.

Ridge: Mother, what do you want?

Stephanie: I want to know about the conversation with your brother.

Ridge: You sure? It wasn't very pretty.

Stephanie: You didn't antagonize him, did you?

Ridge: No, but I did try to get through to him, and he wasn't hearing it. He's hell-bent on bringing us down.

                        **********************************************************************************************

Deacon: Guess now all I need is you.

Jackie: The last time I saw you, you threw divorce papers in my face. And now you're saying that you want me back?

Massimo: There are movers at the penthouse as we speak.

Jackie: There are?

Massimo: Mm-hmm. They'll bring your belongings here in the morning -- unless, of course, you need something in the meantime.

Jackie: Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. We have to talk about this.

Massimo: Fine. We'll talk about it at dinner. I've asked the chef to prepare your favorite dish.

Jackie: Which is?

Massimo: Seafood Cacciucco. And if it isn't, it soon will be. Jacqueline, I know what you're thinking. I was hard on you.

Jackie: Oh, Massimo, Massimo, stop. We haven't spoken in weeks.

Massimo: I thought we both needed this time.

Jackie: Oh, well, that I agree with. I have discovered things about myself. I have discovered what I need to make me happy.

Massimo: To be here in this house, in this home, as my wife.

Jackie: I can't deny that I've missed my family terribly. Nicky still won't return my calls.

Massimo: He was very deeply hurt, Jacqueline. You can understand that.

Jackie: I know, I know, I know. Of course I understand it. I'm sorry for everything that I put you all through --

Massimo: Look, Jacqueline -- I don't want to dredge all of this again.

Jackie: Well, we can't sit down for dinner as though none of this ever happened. At least I can't.

Nick: Even if I caught the fish?

Jackie: Nicky.

Nick: Hello, Mother. Welcome home.

                        *****************************************************************************************

Stephanie: Thorne wants to bring us down?

Ridge: Those weren't his exact words, but that's the general idea.

Stephanie: I guess I'm not surprised. Considering how he feels.

Ridge: Oh, right. Right. Cheated and overlooked his entire life. Poor baby.

Stephanie: No one expects you to understand.

Ridge: I do understand, Mother. I can even sympathize, up to a point. But when a guy starts attacking his own family, that's where my sympathy ends. He just wants attention. Don't reward that kind of behavior by giving it to him. He's just gonna lash out at all of us forever.

Stephanie: So you want me to ignore my son?

Ridge: You can't give him what he really needs.

Stephanie: Oh, I hate to ask what that means.

Ridge: He needs a good thrashing. He needs some hard knocks. You know? Come on, let's face it. This guy's had a pretty cushy life, your "cruel neglect" notwithstanding. He doesn't appreciate what this family's done for him, Mother. He thinks he can go out there and make a go of it on his own? Fine, let him do it. We both know he's not going to accomplish a thing at Spectra.

Stephanie: I'm sure you pointed out to him, didn't you?

Ridge: Oh, you're damn right I did.

Stephanie: I wish you hadn't.

Ridge: Mother, he's not listening to any of us. So I suggest we just leave him alone, let him figure it out on his own. And eventually, he'll see that this silly vendetta is absolutely pointless.

                        **************************************************************************************

Jackie: Nicky! I don't believe this. Did you --

Massimo: No. No, no, no, no -- he wants to be with his family.

Nick: You know, mother, I learned through a new friend that life can be very short. I don't want to hold grudges.

Jackie: You mean that you've forgiven me?

Nick: I want you back in my life. In our lives.

Jackie: Oh, Nicky. Nicky!

Nick: Let's not make a big deal out of it, okay?

Jackie: It is a big deal! If you knew how much I regretted -- I mean, there has not been a that day has gone by when I --

Nick: I know.

Jackie: Have not thought of that pain I've cause you! Everything that I --

Nick: I know. I know. The 140 messages is a good indicator, mother.

Jackie: Darling, you won't be sorry. If you give me this second chance, you just won't be.

Nick: I know we won't. We've talked a lot about it. Mother, we realize you never meant to hurt us.

Jackie: Of course not. But Nicky, so much has happened. I --

Massimo: I want to put all of that behind us. For the sake of the family.

Nick: And that you love her.

Massimo: Yes. Of course. I do love you, Jacqueline.

Nick: This fish is getting cold. Let's eat. Mother? Is there a problem?

Jackie: No. No, there's no problem.

Nick: Well, I have really missed hanging out with you crazy cats.

[ Nick laughs ] A little wine there, pops?

Massimo: Yes, please.

Nick: All right.

                        ************************************************************************************

Stephanie: Thorne? What's going on?

[ Thorne sighs ]

Nick: So, Mother, what have you been up to?

Jackie: Up to?

Nick: Yeah, you look great, like you've been exercising? Have you been exercising?

Jackie: A little, yes.

Nick: Well, it shows.

Jackie: Oh, I actually think it's just showing how happy I am, how relieved.

Nick: Well, you should be. You're Mrs. Massimo Marone again.

Jackie: Well, not technically.

Nick: Oh, no. You are, for sure. Mm-hmm.

Massimo: I never filed the divorce papers.

Jackie: Why not?

Nick: Because he digs you. Like you didn't know that.

Jackie: No, I really didn't.

Nick: It's over, Mother. You never have to go back to that time in your life again.

                        ************************************************************************************

[ Brooke sighs ]

Ridge: What's the matter?

Brooke: Are you sure the door's locked?

Ridge: Yes, positive.

Brooke: Good.

Ridge: And?

Brooke: I was just thinking about your mother.

Ridge: Oh, oh. No, no. That's a real mood-killer.

Brooke: She might be right.

Ridge: Now you're really scaring me.

Brooke: Well, you should be scared. About Thorne, I mean.

Ridge: Not you, too.

Brooke: Look, I know you don't want to think about this right now, but he could really pose a threat to the company.

Ridge: Look, why don't we just let mother worry about Thorne, okay?

Brooke: You're right. If anybody could get through to him, she could.

                        *********************************************************************************************

Thorne: I think you know what this is about, mother.

Stephanie: Ridge says you're absolutely adamant about staying on here. I don't understand.

Thorne: Well, you should have listened to him. You normally do.

Stephanie: If you want to punish me, you have. But you cannot begin to imagine what this is doing to your father.

Thorne: He's upset?

Stephanie: He's devastated.

Thorne: Why? He must have known that I would move on.

Stephanie: But to take a stand against your own family. Thorne, this is just cutting off your nose to spite your face.

Thorne: So I'm only hurting myself, is that it?

Stephanie: No, you're hurting all of us. But especially you're hurting your daughter. Honey, would you deny her her rightful place in this family, your family? We love her, and we cherish her. And is this really just about you feeling we didn't give you enough love and attention? Because of that, are you going to deny her this place in her family? Would you do that to your own daughter?

                        **************************************************************************************

Deacon: Hey, there you are. What happened?

[ Jackie sighs ]

Jackie: Look at all this. I'm --

Deacon: No, no, it's cool. I was just -- Jackie, I was worried about you. Where'd you go?

Jackie: I was with Nicky. We had dinner together.

Deacon: Well, I understand. I mean, that's -- how did that happen?

Jackie: He made it happen. He wants me back in his life.

Deacon: That's great. You must be on cloud nine, right?

Jackie: Um, part of me is. Oh.

Deacon: Are you worried about how he's going to react to all this? I mean -- I mean, about us?

Jackie: No. No, Deacon, that's not it. You see, it wasn't just Nicky that I had dinner with. Massimo was there, too.

Deacon: Jackie --

Jackie: He's forgiven me, Deacon.

Deacon: What are you saying to me?

Jackie: He wants me back. He wants me back.

Deacon: And you told him to go to hell, right? Jackie?

Jackie: Nicky wants it, too, you see. He wants to be a family again.

Deacon: So what are you gonna do? You're just gonna sacrifice yourself?

Jackie: It's what I want.

Deacon: Oh, that's bull. No. No, you know what? Let me show you something? This -- this is what you want. I am what you want. What about the talk? What about how you said you feel unhappy, how you feel stifled?

Jackie: And how much I love my son. How much --

Deacon: You could have us both. Yes, yes, you can.

Jackie: No, no. Will you stop? Don't make it anymore difficult than it is, please.

Deacon: What did you think I was gonna do? I was just gonna say, "thanks?" "Thanks for the good times, see ya?"

Jackie: You know how I feel.

Deacon: Yes, I know exactly how you feel. Look at me. I'm the only one knows how you feel, and I love you for that. That's right. That's right. I said I love you. Now you're just gonna walk away from that? Are you?

Jackie: I'm sorry. I'm sorry, Deacon.

                        **************************************************************************************

Ridge: I think it's kind of cute.

Brooke: What is?

Ridge: This wifely concern.

Brooke: You underestimate your brother and the threat he represents.

Ridge: What threat, huh? Why don't you tell me how you think he's gonna come after us then?

Brooke: I don't know. But we should find out.

Ridge: Oh, so I should just drop everything I'm doing right now and go and do that?

Brooke: Well, not everything.

Ridge: I didn't think so. First things first, my dear.

Brooke: Exactly.

Ridge: Come here.

                        **************************************************************************************

Thorne: So you're concerned about Alexandria.

Stephanie: Of course I am. And you should be, too.

Thorne: That you would even use my daughter --

Stephanie: Oh, Thorne, I am not using your --

Thorne: We both know the one you're really trying to protect is Ridge, Mother.

Stephanie: That's not true.

Thorne: It always comes back to him. It always has. Alexandria's right -- where would that be, mother, exactly? In the shadows of your second-best son and a dingbat?

Stephanie: Oh, Thorne, no one feels that way.

Thorne: How many times did you come to visit your granddaughter? Hmm? I can count 'em on one hand, Mother. You never did until you were mad at Ridge, and Brooke wouldn't let you see his kids. Little Alex came in real handy, then, didn't she?

Stephanie: That's not how it was.

Thorne: Well, it's not how it's going to be. Not anymore. You want to know why I'm really doing this, Mother? I'm doing this for my daughter. She is going to have a legacy of her own that no one can take away from her. No one will ever tell her that she doesn't measure up.

Stephanie: Is this what I've done to you? Honey, you don't want to be doing this. I know I hurt you. I know how badly I hurt you. I'm sorry. You can't believe how sorry I am.

Thorne: I believe you. It doesn't matter, though.

Stephanie: It has to, Thorne.

Thorne: Go home, Mother. Go home and tell my father and your son they'd better watch their backs.
