Thorne: You want to know what I'm really angry at? I'm angry at myself for believing all your B.S. About family unity, and loyalty, and the value of dedication and hard work.

Stephanie: Honey, those things are still important.

Thorne: Not to me.

Ridge: Thorne, no one's asking you to leave.

Thorne: Would you stay, Ridge? If dad had chosen me, would you stay? No, but of course you knew that just wasn't going to happen, didn't you?

Brooke: He didnít.

Stephanie: Honey, please, your father's just trying to offer you a compromise here.

Thorne: My father's throwing me a bone, Mother, and I'm not biting.

Darla: Thorne, let's go.

Eric: Thorne, you have to understand --

Thorne: Oh, you know, I do understand. I do understand. And I should've seen it a long time ago. The day when you announced my promotion, he showed up. He showed up and he stole the spotlight! And I let him. You let him!

Eric: Nobody meant for that to happen.

Stephanie: And nobody wants this to happen. Please, this is such a difficult decision. It was so hard for your father.

Thorne: Why? It's the same choice that you have been making my entire life! What are you looking at? You think I'm feeling sorry for myself, Ridge? Well, that's not it. I'm disgusted. I'm disgusted by the hypocrisy 'cause I see now what it is!

Eric: Thorne, you forced me to make this choice. I didn't want to. But I did. Now, I'm offering you the opportunity to stay on. But only if you and your brother can find a way to work together. This animosity has to stop for the sake of the family.

Thorne: Put my feelings aside? My ambitions on hold? For the sake of this family?! You tell me why I should! Because you obviously don't give a damn about me! None of you! So you tell me why I should care about you?

Nick: Thanks. I owe you for this. This other one's -- it's small and yellow and round. It's got a "4" on one side, and some type of insignia on the other. Kinda like a backward "6." Yeah, I've heard of that. It's highly addictive, isn't it? You'll get back to me on that, won't you? Thanks. I gotta go. I owe you. Feeling better?

Felicia: You mean, am I still mad?

Nick: Is that why you went out there? I thought you were feeling a little woozy.

Felicia: Oh. How do I look to you now?

[ Knocking at the door ]

Amber: What? Hi.

Thomas: You okay? I heard what Rick said. I was there backstage. He's wrong, Amber. You ask me, you're too good for him. You don't deserve to be treated like this. I think you're incredible and it's time somebody told you -- showed you, actually. I brought you something.

Amber: I don't want it. Please just -- just go. Leave me alone, okay?

[ Amber sobbing ]

Thomas: You shouldn't be alone right now.

Amber: Maybe you don't understand what just happened back there.

Thomas: No. No, I heard you. You asked Rick for another chance. You want to start over.

Amber: He said no.

Thomas: Well, that's his loss. But you can still start over -- with me.

Amber: With you? That's ridiculous, okay? You're a kid.

Nick: That's not going to work.

Felicia: 'Cause you know me so well.

Nick: You're not going to bat your eyes at me and change the subject.

Felicia: Maybe we don't have to talk at all.

Nick: You'd like that, wouldn't you?

Felicia: As much as you.

Nick: You know what I'd really like? I'd like you to tell me about your visit with your mother. I'll show you my scars if you show me yours.

Felicia: Where my mother's concerned, there are no scars. I've built a callous. I used to think that the next time I would run into her we would have, like, this breakthrough? You know, but time is running out and nothing has happened. I don't know. Maybe I waited too long.

Nick: Well, maybe you gotta do more than wait.

Felicia: I have. She won't listen.

Nick: Oh, that's a bunch of crap. You got something to say? Get her attention.

Stephanie: Thorne, stop. Stop talking like that. Stop it right now.

Thorne: Hard to hear, is it?

Stephanie: You're making too much of this.

Thorne: Too much of this? Yeah, it's only my life's work, isn't it? Every goal I've ever had. The only thing I ever wanted as a kid was to work side by side with my father.

Eric: There's no shame in running production here.

Ridge: These people are the heart of Forrester Creations --

Thorne: These people have names, Ridge. Do you know them? Their wives, their husbands, their kids -- do you? I do! And I treated them the exact same when I was down here and when I was president. Because I -- I believe in teamwork and rewarding dedication. And I sure as hell thought my father did.

Eric: All right, Thorne, that's enough --

Thorne: You're damn right it is! You're damn right! You said I can do anything with this office? It's mine? I can do it? Yeah, well, how about this? How about that?!

[ Screaming and yelling ]

Darla: Thorne, stop it!

Eric: Stop it. Thorne, we can work this out. Now stop it.

Thorne: Yeah? You want to demote me. You want to rip away my title. And then humiliate me in front of this whole industry. Because Thorne doesn't mind. He doesn't care. Well, guess what? You have underestimated me for the last time.

Stephanie: No, honey, we didn't underestimate you.

Thorne: You know what? You have made a terrible, terrible mistake. All of you. One that you are gonna regret for the rest of your lives.

Stephanie: Thorne.

Eric: Thorne.

Stephanie: God, what have we done?

Felicia: The only person who's ever gotten my mother's attention is Ridge.

Nick: You tried, though, didn't you? Hmm, the little rebel? 'Causing problems, hanging out with the wrong crowd? Admit it.

Felicia: Yeah, well, she'd let the headmistress deal with it.

Nick: Charm schools?

Felicia: Boarding schools.

Nick: How many?

Felicia: As soon as I'd get expelled from one, she'd be packing me off to another one.

Nick: So, you weren't lying. You had been on the move for a long time.

Felicia: It's all I know.

Nick: I'm sure those boarding schools taught you more than that.

Felicia: Well, I can make a three-story rope ladder out of bed sheets and pillow cases.

Nick: Oh, then you should know this one pretty well.

Felicia: Hmm. I don't know, it's been a while. Let me take a look.

Nick: Not bad.

Felicia: Well, you know, I did grow up in the fashion business. All stitches and knots.

[ Phone ringing ]Felecia: You expecting a call? Hello? Nick? Um, sure. Could you hold on a second, please? The captain seems to be a little tied up.

Nick: Yeah. Hey, doc. What have you got for me? You're positive. Couldn't be anything else? Yeah, I'm sorry, too.

Thomas: You think you're too old for me?

Amber: No, I think you're too young for me.

Thomas: You said you wanted to start over, go back and do everything different.

Amber: With Rick.

Thomas: You don't need him.

Amber: No, I don't need you. You were a distraction, Thomas! Okay? You are not my boyfriend! We are not going out. Okay, I was lonely, so I used you. And you know what? I'm tired of playing with you now. I want a relationship -- okay -- with a man, a real man. Not some scrawny, inexperienced little boy. Don't you get it? I am not interested. I don't want your necklace. I don't want your flowers. I just want you to leave!

Sally: Hey. Ease up on the slamming doors, will you? I finally got Alexandria down for her nap. What are you doing here? I thought you had a meeting.

Thorne: It's over.

Sally: Over? So how was it? What happened?

Thorne: They made Ridge president.

Sally: They what? How could they do that? You are Eric's son.

Thorne: They liked the way I did my old job better.

Sally: What about your mother, huh? What about Stephanie? What did have to say?

Thorne: Nothing.

Sally: What?

Thorne: Surprises you, Sally? You've been more of a mother to me this year than she ever has.

Sally: No, Thorne, that's not true.

Thorne: Oh, really? You're here watching my daughter while my own mother fires me from the family business. I just asked for a little respect. I couldn't even get any gratitude.

[ Amber sobbing ]

Thomas: I'm not going to leave you, Amber. I don't care what you do or say. I'm not going anywhere.

Felicia: Who was that? Doctor?

Nick: Ship's medic.

Felicia: Bad news?

Nick: Yeah. Bad news.

Felicia: Oh, well, I guess the fun and games are over. Time for this black sheep druggie to get out of your hair.

Nick: That's not what I think. I was wrong. I'm sorry.

Felicia: Okay.

Nick: Wait, wait a second. When am I gonna see you again?

Felicia: I don't know -- maybe never.

Nick: I thought we were having a good time, weren't we?

Felicia: Yeah, that's the problem. We keep it up and I could fall for you, captain.

Nick: Maybe that's a good thing.

[ Seagulls cawing ]

Eric: We'll give him some time to cool off and then we'll talk to him.

Darla: He left.

Eric: All right. Look, I'll give you a ride home.

Darla: No thank you, Eric. Not unless you want to tell Thorne you've changed your mind.

Eric: I had hoped that he would understand.

Darla: Oh, he understands. He understands all right -- perfectly. That nothing he can ever do will be good enough for you.

Eric: I told him how much we appreciate his good work.

Darla: He needed you to appreciate him.

Ridge: They didn't have to offer him anything. The way he's been acting --

Darla: He was acting like your equal! You give him a taste of what it feels like to be accepted and admired and then you yank it away.

Brooke: It was just a job, Darla.

Darla: Not to Thorne, Brooke! It was proof that you all didn't think of him as second-rate. Geez.

Stephanie: Darla, he'll listen to you. Just tell him we're sorry. Please tell him --

Darla: No, no. I'm not going to set him up for any more disappointment. My god, when I married into this family, I was so proud. I was so proud to be one of you. How could you do this to him?

Sally: I'm so sorry. You know what? You look like you could use a hug.

Thorne: Thank you, Sal. I don't need a shoulder to cry on, though.

Sally: Okay, tough guy. Have it your way. But I know how bad it hurts.

Thorne: Yeah, it does. It hurts like hell. They're not gonna break me.

Sally: Well, I'm sure that wasn't their intention.

Thorne: They thought I'd take it. That's why I was the one to go.

Sally: Well, that and the fact that they always knew you were the level-headed one.

Thorne: No, you mean the chump.

Sally: No. No, Thorne, that's not true.

Thorne: No, it's okay, Sally. Because I see everything so clearly now. All of my dad's speeches about how he respected my work -- see, that was just his way of keeping me in line, keeping my nose to the grindstone so I wouldn't question his decisions or mess up his "creative chemistry" with my half-brother.

Sally: They've been a very effective team, hmm?

Thorne: I thought I was part of the team. But what a lie that was -- my presidency. I was just a seat filler for my brother.

Sally: Forget about them. All of 'em. They don't matter. You've got everything you need. You've got a family that loves you. You got a sweet little baby, a beautiful wife and you got this crazy, whacked-out redhead for a mother-in-law. I don't think you know what it feels like to be part of a real family, to be loved for you who are. You're gonna find out what that's like. Because now, you're with Spectra. And I promise you -- I intend to honor you and respect you. And I'm gonna love you just as much as if you were my own son.
