Eric: You came back to us with a huge amount of energy and enthusiasm. After the year you've had --

Brooke: It was a difficult time for all of us.

Stephanie: Not for everyone. While you and ridge were off sorting out your personal problems, Thorne came into his own.

Eric: Thorne, you've spent your whole life learning this business. Putting in the hours, paying your dues. That's why we made you president.

Stephanie: Because he earned it.

Eric: Yes. Along with the respect and the admiration of everybody in this building. We have two excellent leaders in this room. You both bring something different to the table -- different styles, different assets. If they were taken together, they would give this company an incredible edge in this business.

Ridge: But it wouldn't, dad. Because we can't work together.

Thorne: And there can't be two leaders. You have to make a choice, Dad.

Eric: I know. I have.

Eric: Family unity is more to me than anything else. Business comes second.

Thorne: So now this is a personal decision.

Eric: How could it not be, Thorne? Somebody I love is going to be hurt. As much as it pains me to do this, as much as you have brought to Forrester Creations, we cannot forget that we're in the fashion business. We design and produce haute couture. Creativity is this company's lifeblood. Without it, we just wither on the vine. You're both incredibly important to me. I want you both to stay. But if I have to choose -- I choose Ridge.

Darla: Oh, God, no.

Thorne: Ridge.

Eric: Thorne, I don't want to loose you. I don't want you to go. I want you to stay. You're too important to me. You're too important to this business. I need you. But you made me do this. You made me choose.

Thorne: You chose Ridge.

Stephanie: Your father thinks that he needs Ridge's designs.

Darla: You were doing fine before he came back.

Eric: We're doing even better now.

Brooke: Thorne had a lot to do with that.

Eric: Yes, he did. Absolutely. Thorne, you know this business from top to bottom. Your relationships with buyers, suppliers, with the staff, they've been crucial.

Darla: Well, they must not have been that crucial. You chose Ridge.

Eric: I want to keep them both.

Thorne: You made me president.

Eric: Thorne, you don't have to be president to have the respect and the admiration of everybody in this building. You're the best at what you do. Everybody here knows it. And I want you to keep doing it. Now, come on, let's go down to your old office. Now, come on, we'll knock out the walls. We'll make it into an executive suite. We'll do anything you want. Anything you want.

Darla: That's what he wants? A new office? Thorne -- are you okay? Thorne?

Ridge: He's fine. No one's gonna lose their job. We're gonna be a team again. You, me and Dad working together.

Rick: I can't get out of work this week. I'm totally swamped.

Caitlin: Well, what about the weekend?

Rick: What'd you tell your dad?

Caitlin: I don't know. I would think of something.

Rick: I hate putting you in this position.

Caitlin: Oh, I'm not complaining.

Rick: Yeah, but you don't like lying. I don't like to lie, either. I just -- I wish I could tell everybody how happy I am. We'll figure something out, okay?

Caitlin: Well, what about big bear?

Rick: I don't know when I'm going to be able to get away.

Caitlin: But you'll think about it?

Rick: Being alone with you? How could I think of anything else?

Caitlin: Okay.

Rick: Bye.

Amber: "How could I think of anything else?" Wow. Doesn't sound like you're thinking at all.

Felicia: You know what's best for me? Is that it?

Nick: I know drugs aren't the answer.

Felicia: I am not a druggy, Nick.

Nick: What title would you give a woman with a bag of pills in her purse?

Felicia: Right now? I'd call her ticked off.

Nick: I thought you'd be grateful.

Felicia: Oh, I should thank you?

Nick: Did you talk to your Mother?

Felicia: Yes.

Nick: Well, then you should thank me -- profusely.

Eric: Caitlin's been using this office, as you can see. We'll find her another space.

Darla: You don't have to do this, Thorne.

Ridge: We're going to head out, let you guys work out the details.

Darla: Oh, no, please, please, stay. Enjoy your victory. Thorne and I are going to be leaving anyway. And if this is all you have to offer him, please, he won't be coming back.

Nick: Nothing to say?

Felicia: How about I'm leaving?

Nick: You're just not used to it, are you?

Felicia: Used to what? Strange men meddling in my life?

Nick: Having somebody look out for you.

Felicia: I look out for myself.

Nick: How is that going for you?

Felicia: Better than you think.

Nick: 'Cause you're so tough, right?

Felicia: No, I'm not tough. I'm strong. I've had to be. And I would think that you would respect that.

Nick: I do respect that.

Felicia: Oh, really? What, this is you being respectful?

Nick: You know, you don't really know me very well. Yet.

Felicia: What makes you think I want to?

Nick: Because I wanna get to know you.

Felicia: Really? You sure about that?

Nick: Tell me something I don't know.

Felicia: I flunked out of charm school.

Nick: Something I don't know.

Felicia: I'm a gourmet cook. I went to culinary school in Paris.

Nick: Very domestic.

Felicia: Mm. Surprise you?

Nick: Is that something you want? Husband? Kids? House? Family?

Felicia: I used to. Not anymore. It's not in the cards.

Nick: Maybe you're not reading your hand right. You're a beautiful woman, you should -- does this have anything to do with the drugs?

Felicia: You're not going to let it go, are you?

Nick: No. The truth is, you don't want me to.

Rick: Amber, what are you doing here?

Amber: Big Bear?

Rick: You were eavesdropping.

Amber: What if I was Ridge, huh? I know he doesn't want you seeing Caitlin.

Rick: I'm not discussing Caitlin with you.

Amber: Fine. Then what about us?

Rick: Us?

Amber: I still miss you, Rick. I do. And I thought --

Rick: We can't go back, Amber.

Rick: Look I'm not trying to hurt you.

Amber: Big Bear was our place.

Rick: And we have lots of good memories there.

Amber: Yeah. Yeah, we do. We have great memories there. You can't forget that. I know I messed things up. I did really, really bad. But I can do better. I can. If you just -- just give me one more try. Come on. I know I can make you happy.

Rick: I am happy, Amber -- with Caitlin.

Eric: Look, Thorne, why don't you sit down for a moment?

Thorne: No.

Stephanie: Honey, I know this is a shock. If you would just give your father a chance to explain --

Darla: Stephanie, he understands what's happening. All of his years of hard work have just gone up in smoke.

Eric: That's not true. Thorne's done an incredible job for this company.

Ridge: I agree with Dad on that.

Darla: Can't you see that he doesn't want to hear it?

Eric: And I wish I didn't have to say it. But, Thorne, you're the one who forced me into making this choice.

Darla: So you're punishing him for standing up for himself?

Eric: I'm trying to hold my family together.

Darla: Oh, really? By rejecting the son that stood by you when ridge ran off to become a Marone.

Stephanie: Darla, this hasn't got anything to do with rejection or punishment.

Darla: No, Stephanie, it's a slap in the face.

Eric: Thorne, it's not the end of the world.

Thorne: Nothing's changed. All of these years and nothing's changed.

Amber: What are you saying? It's -- it's serious with Caitlin?

Rick: I like her.

Amber: Well, you're rebounding. You are. And she is way too young for you. And if I can't make you see it then --

Rick: You stay away from her.

Amber: I don't believe this. We were married. We had a family.

Rick: Amber, don't do this.

Amber: And you're just going to throw it away for some crush on some teenage model?

Rick: Our marriage ended a long time ago.

Amber: Yeah, because I let you down, but that's not going to happen again.

Rick: Because we're not gonna happen. Look, Amber, I don't mean to be cruel, but you're just not getting it.

Amber: Okay, then explain it to me, Rick. Explain it to me. Um, just tell me how much this girl means to you -- this stranger. You know? Maybe -- maybe it's not her. Maybe it's me. Is that it? Is that it? I'm not good for you, huh? Look at me in the eye and you tell me. You say to me that I am not good enough for you. Come on, say it!

Rick: All right! You're not good enough. Is that what you want to hear?

Felicia: You think I want this? Someone pushing me around, interfering in my life? You know, that's why I left home.

Nick: Well, you're still here, aren't you? Must be a reason. The drugs can take the pain away for awhile, but it always comes back.

Felicia: Yeah, it does.

Nick: I'm a sea captain. I've seen a lot of stuff. A lot of men, especially on the docks, they lost their family, their future, just like that. You all right? You all right?

Felicia: Yeah, I just -- I need to get some air.

Nick: Hey, doc, Nick Payne. How you been? Yeah. I'm good. Thanks. It's been awhile. I know. Listen, doc, I need a favor from you. A friend of mine's gotten into something. Pills. A lot of 'em. I was wondering, if I describe the pills to you, the markings, could you tell me what they are?

Stephanie: Well, what do you mean nothing's changed? Of course, it has, honey. You've changed. You're a man now. And you don't need to compete with your brother.

Eric: Or to try to gain our respect.

Thorne: Because I can't.

Stephanie: Because you already have it.

Eric: Thorne, you can't think of the years that you've spent down here in this office is a waste. Think of all the disasters you've averted down here. This is the scene of your greatest successes. Down here, in the trenches.

Thorne: 'Cause I'm the grunt. And Ridge is the star.

Brooke: That's not what he's saying.

Thorne: It made sense when you were running the company, because you were in love with him. But when you took over, I thought I'd finally get a break.

Eric: Look, I know this doesn't seem fair.

Thorne: You're trying to keep the family together.

Eric: Yes. Yes, I am. And I know I can count on you to put the needs of the family before your own ego.

Thorne: Yes, because that's what I do. That's what I do. I'm the good son, the peacemaker, Mr. Forgive and Mr. Forget.

Eric: Thorne, those are wonderful qualities for a man.

Thorne: Yes, that's what you've told me my entire life. And I lived by it, all of it. I didn't complain. I was patient. And I worked hard, and I stayed loyal. Because I honestly believed that it would pay off, and that I would get the respect and the position that I earned! The day you made me president, god, I was so proud. I was so proud. And not just of myself, but of you, too, and this company and the way that you ran it. Because you said that family matters the most. Family! He's not even your son! I am! Me! You chose him over me! Your own flesh and blood! And now you have the audacity to want to pat me on the back with a few compliments? Well, no way! You hear me?! Because I am through forgiving! And I will never forget! I gave you every single thing that I had, and you turned your backs on me. You and you. You let me down.
