Ridge: Hey, gorgeous.

Brooke: Ridge. When did you get here?

Ridge: Actually, I never left.

Brooke: You spent the night?

Ridge: On the couch.

Brooke: Why?

Ridge: Why on the couch? Or why not in your bed?

Brooke: No. I mean --

Ridge: I just wanted to be here in case you needed anything. Or in case you changed your mind.

Brooke: About what?

Ridge: Do I have to spell it out for you?

Brooke: Ridge, we can't.

Ridge: We almost did last night. What? What's that? What's that --

Brooke: I don't know. You just seem different somehow. Like --

Ridge: What? More like the Ridge you fell love with years ago? The one that knew what he wanted and would do anything to get it? Well, guess what? He's back. And he's not going away.

Brooke: I don't understand.

Ridge: Yeah. Well, neither will my so-called family -- Massimo, Jackie, Nick.

Brooke: They are your family.

Ridge: No. No. As far as I'm concerned, I'm a Forrester. And I'm damn proud of it.

Brooke: And you should be. But just because the Marones want me to marry Nick doesn't mean --

Ridge: No, it's not just that. Massimo and Nick are in jail right now.

Brooke: We don't know what happened there.

Ridge: Brooke. Can you honestly say they did nothing illegal? Neither can I. You think that same thing would have happened if it was dad and Thorne? I don't think so. The Marones have different values than I do. And I'm just going to have to distance myself from them. And I think you should do the same thing.

Brooke: Without even hearing Nick's side?

Ridge: What's he gonna say? It's no big deal? Well, yes, it is a big deal. Isn't it? Brooke, I just wanna keep Nick from dragging you and hope and this little baby through this whole mess. And I'm gonna do whatever it takes to do that.

Guard: You have a visitor.

Nick: Who is it?

Guard: I don't know her name.

Reporter: Mrs. Marone, is your son prepared to make a statement? Yes or no? Mrs. Marone.

Jackie: Oh, Nicky. Nicky, are you all right?

Nick: I'm fine. Mother, have you talked to Brooke?

Jackie: No, I haven't. I haven't, but I drove by her house this morning, and -- well, Ridge's car was still there and --

Nick: Still there? What are you saying, still there? He spent the night?

Massimo: Thanks for coming, Oscar.

Oscar: Family sticks together, right?

Massimo: Tell that to Ridge.

Oscar: He really screwed things up big-time, huh?

Massimo: His misguided attempt to discredit Dominick --

Oscar: Has really mushroomed. I know.

Massimo: I'm not worried about myself or Dominick. The thing I am concerned with is now more than anything is Marone Industries.

Oscar: Which faces a business crisis the likes of which the company has never seen. It's all over the financial rags.

Massimo: Bastards.

Oscar: Look, mo. I know how frustrated you must be, locked up here behind bars when your company's going through so much trouble. That's why I took a leave of absence from Forrester this morning. So I can be right here for you. Okay, I can handle whatever needs handling. I just want to prove myself, prove my loyalty to you and this family once and for all.

Hector: So this is the grand tour. Not exactly the Taj Mahal, but --

Samantha: It's home.

Hector: Yes, it is. It's home to Caty and Jimmy and me. And I want it to be your home, too, Sam.

Samantha: Are you sure you know what you're letting yourself in for?

Hector: Why? Do you snore?

Samantha: No. But I do talk in my sleep.

Hector: Really? Full sentences?

Samantha: I once recited the preamble to the constitution. Or so my college roommate tells me.

Hector: Baby, you could recite "war and peace" and it wouldn't change a thing. I still want you here. Where you belong.

Samantha: You keep this up, I think I'm gonna spontaneously combust.

Hector: Lucky for you I'm a fireman. I'm specifically trained to handle situations just like this.

[ Samantha laughs ]

[ Hector growls ]

Samantha: Come here.

Jackie: Nicky, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you. I'm sure that if Ridge did spend the night, he spent it on the couch. What I do know, honey, is that he is trying to fill her head full of lies.

Nick: Well, hopefully she'll see through it.

Jackie: You're not the least bit concerned?

Nick: No.

Jackie: Honey, this guy still has a hold over her.

Nick: He's desperate mother.

Jackie: Yes. And he also not giving up. And with you in this god-forsaken place, I --

Nick: Brooke's not some naive school girl. She knows what she wants. She knows what's best for her and the kid. And it's not Forrester.

Jackie: Well, I know that and you know that. But that's not what he's telling her.

Nick: Well, he can say whatever he wants. This is all gonna be cleared up very soon.

Jackie: Honey, the media is having a field day. Ridge is gonna use that to his full advantage --

Nick: This isn't helping, mother! I'll repeat myself. The man is desperate. As soon as I'm out of here, I'll make sure he's out of the way.

Brooke: I told you no comment. And I meant it!

Ridge: The sharks are circling.

Brooke: Not that I was surprised. Anything to do with the name Marone --

Ridge: Yeah, well, it sells newspapers, doesn't it? And lots of 'em. And now with the feds in the mix --

Brooke: I still can't believe this is happening.

Ridge: Brooke, are you saying you'd rather not know the kind of man Nick really is?

Brooke: He is the father of my child, Ridge.

Ridge: And I don't really care about that. And neither should you.

Massimo: Oscar, my boy. I knew I could count on you.

Oscar: I am a Marone, first and always. This is where my loyalty lies.

Massimo: And you're willing to back that up with action.

Oscar: Look, Marone Industries is in a free-fall. There's only so much damage control you can do here from behind bars. That's where I come in.

Massimo: You?

Oscar: Yeah. I mean, come on. I ran my father's casino for two years, right? And -- okay, maybe that's not the best example. But what about my club -- Ozzz? After Macy's accident? There's not a single person that thought that place would ever reopen.

Massimo: Right. But you made it happen in record time.

Oscar: Yes. Yes, exactly. Now, I know maybe that's small potatoes compared to whatever it is your company's going through, but just listen to me for a second. This is what I think. If we continue to minimize the damage being caused by the bad press -- then we can to stop the hemorrhaging. Or at the very least, reassure the shareholders. All right? Now, I can get with your pr people and we can knock out a strategy and --

Massimo: Fine. Do it. And Oscar -- if you help us out with this, you'll get more than my gratitude. You'll be well on your way to earning that Marone ring. Because obviously, it means more to you than it does to ridge right now.

Brooke: Ridge, please don't do this.

Ridge: Do what? Think about how different things would be if -- Brooke, you almost married this guy. You came this close to --

Brooke: -- Making the biggest mistake of my life. I know that's how you see it.

Ridge: It's not how you see it.

Brooke: I thought you understood how important this is to me -- raising my son with his father.

Ridge: I do understand. And that's why I let go. Or tried to, anyway. But it's all wrong, Brooke. You and I need to be together.

Brooke: So what are you saying? I should just forget about Nick?

Ridge: I'm saying it's not too late for us. For me to be a father to this child -- our child, Brooke -- yours and mine.

Brooke: But he's not our child. You're not the father.

Ridge: I don't care about that anymore to hell with biology.

Brooke: No, Ridge, I can't just desert him.

Ridge: Please tell me you're not going where I think you're going.

Brooke: Nick needs me.

Ridge: Brooke?

Reporter #1: There she is!

Reporter #2: What can you tell us, Miss Logan?

Reporter #3: How are Mr. Marone and his son holding up?

Reporter #1: What about the charges?

Reporter #4: Do you think the feds can make them stick? Word has it, they can.

Reporter #3: Which means --

Reporter #2: Your fiancÚ could be looking at some serious jail time.

Guard: Okay, you know the rules. No press beyond this point.

Reporter #1: Just a statement, Miss Logan, please.

Brooke: Is he in there?

Guard: Yes, ma'am.

[ Birds chirping ]

Hector: That smile. I hope it means what I think it does.

Samantha: When do you want me to move in?

Hector: Let's go get your stuff.

Samantha: Hector -- wait, wait, wait, wait. Aren't you forgetting something?

[ Hector sighs ]

Hector: Caty. We have to tell her.

Samantha: Mm-hmm, and Jimmy. It's going to be quite an adjustment for them.

Hector: And for you. This place isn't exactly as grand as you're used to.

Samantha: Hey, I've lived in mansions and I've lived in penthouses. And I've lain awake at night in both of them more lonely than you could ever imagine.

Hector: You're really ready?

Samantha: I can't wait.

Hector: Oh, baby.

[ Phones ringing ]

[ Sirens ]

Guard: You got another visitor.

Ridge: You wanna tell me what's going on?

Massimo: Now you're willing to listen? I warned you, Ridge. If you couldn't let go of Brooke, and you kept attacking your own family --

Ridge: And I warned you that nothing was gonna come between Brooke and me.

Massimo: You're not sorry, are you? Even now.

Ridge: Why don't you just tell me what you did, first.

Massimo: Nothing to deserve this. Especially from you, my son.

Ridge: I gave back the ring, remember?

Massimo: You will always be a Marone. My blood is your blood! I'm not going to let you turn your back on that, ever!

Ridge: On what? On what? The great Marone dynasty? It's that kind of thinking that got you in here in the first place.

Massimo: Your brother wants to be a father to his son, so I supported that. In your eyes, that's a betrayal?

Ridge: Yes! Hell, yes!

Massimo: Do you see what you're doing? What you're gonna sacrifice?

Ridge: And what am I sacrificing exactly, huh? What? Money -- position -- family name? You know all those could be gone in a second. Maybe that's what will happen to you, Massimo -- your reputation, your precious company, and your fortune. You know what? That would be the best that could happen to you. Finally wake you up, make you realize that none of that matters. None of that matters, not when you have what I had with Brooke -- what I'm gonna have again. And there's nothing you can do to stop us. So don't even try.

[ Brooke sighs ]

Brooke: Hi.

Nick: Hi.

Brooke: Are you okay?

Nick: Are you okay -- both of you?

Brooke: Yeah, we're okay.

Nick: Yeah? Okay. I tried to get through to you. They wouldn't let me call.

Brooke: I tried to get through to you, too.

Nick: I know Forrester spent the night. Where did he sleep?

Brooke: On the couch. He was just trying to protect me.

Nick: Protect you? From what? Please, help me, I'm confused here. From what? Tell me.

Brooke: Nick, I can understand why you'd be upset. I'm just -- I'm really worried about you. I don't like seeing you in this place.

Nick: I don't like it either. I don't like any of it. I don't like that he stopped our wedding. And I don't like that he spent the night in your house! I don't like that!

[ Nick sighs ] You remember when we made love in Hawaii? Do you?

Brooke: Yeah.

Nick: I asked one thing of you after that. I asked you always to be honest with me, remember? Now, I want you to be honest. Do you love me?

Brooke: Nick --

Nick: Do you?

Brooke: Yes --

Nick: Do you?

Brooke: Yes.

Nick: Do you?

Brooke: Yes.
