Brooke: A-ha! There they are. Martha, I found them!

[ Phone rings ]

[ Brooke sighs ] Hello?

Nick: Hey there, gorgeous.

Brooke: Hey there yourself.

Nick: What are you doing today?

Brooke: I don't know. I hadn't really thought about it. Is anything special happening?

Nick: Oh, I don't know. Just wondering if maybe you want to become a sea captain's wife.

Brooke: Then I'd better get dressed.

Nick: Well, not on my account. So how's it going? You all set?

[ Brooke sighs ]

Brooke: Well, I haven't packed for the honeymoon yet.

Nick: Well, get moving, woman.

Brooke: I can't. You never told me where we were going.

Nick: Oh, right, right.

Brooke: Right. So give me a hint.

Nick: Nah.

Brooke: A hemisphere? Anything?

Nick: No, nothing. Just believe you're gonna be relaxed, okay? That's the key here is being relaxed. Just let me dote on you and Hope, okay? You trust my judgment, don't you?

Brooke: Tell me that doting part again.

Nick: Well that's part of the vows, isn't it? To love, honor and dote?

Brooke: Well, if it isn't, it should be. So it's really going to happen, isn't it?

Nick: You betcha.

[ Phone ringing ]

Eric: Hello?

Ridge: Hey, dad. I wanted to see how the kids are doing.

Eric: Oh, they're fine. They're fine.

Ridge: Would you mind keeping them for a little while longer?

Eric: No, that would be fine.

Ridge: Okay, great. Thanks.

Eric: Where are you?

Ridge: I'm on my way over to Brooke's And then I'm going to head down to "The Shady Marlin."

Eric: Nick's boat? Why?

Ridge: I can't get into it right now.

Eric: But Ridge, does this have something to do with the wedding?

Ridge: There isn't going to be a wedding. Not if I have anything to say about it.

Eric: All right, what are you up to, Ridge? What are you up to?

Ridge: Sorry, bro, your little secret's about to come out.

Deacon: Please tell me that Hope is more ready than you are.

Brooke: See for yourself.

Deacon: Oh, yeah, she looks ready.

Hope: Daddy.

Deacon: Hey, come here, short stuff.

[ Deacon groans ] This girl -- hey, have you been practicing? Yeah?

Brooke: She was so excited she could hardly sleep last night.

Deacon: I got to tell you something, I'm so excited, 'cause I get to spend a whole day with my little girl. I really appreciate this. Thank you.

Brooke: You're welcome.

Deacon: What do you say? Should we let mommy get ready? Yeah? Okay, come here. Let's give her a kiss good-bye.

Brooke: All right. Be good for Deacon, okay? I'll see you later.

Deacon: Thanks, Brooke.

Brooke: Bye.

Jackie: Oh, my, they are so lovely. They're lovely. Thank you. Oh.

Nick: Mother, stop it. I hired a wedding planner for a reason. You don't have to do that.

Jackie: Well, I wish he could do something about you. Darling, you're spilling crumbs all over your shirt.

Nick: If you wanna fuss, fuss with the flowers.

Jackie: I just want this day to be perfect for you.

Nick: When we get the I do's over with, it'll all be fine.

Jackie: The minister, the minister. Shouldn't he be here by now? Where is he?

Nick: I think he's that old guy drinking in the kitchen. He's got the funny shirt and the funny collar.

Jackie: Will you stop joking? This is the only wedding day you are ever going to have, knock on wood. I just don't want anything to go wrong, Nicky.

[ Doorbell rings ]

Brooke: I didn't think you'd get far. Ridge.

Ridge: Can I come in?

Brooke: You shouldn't be here.

Ridge: I had to come.

Brooke: Ridge, I've made my decision.

Ridge: Brooke, there are things you don't know. There are things none of us knew about Nick.

Brooke: I don't want to hear this.

Ridge: Well, you're going to have to hear it, Brooke. And then you're going to call off the damn wedding!

[ Brooke sighs ]

Nick: You're making me nervous. You don't want me to be nervous, do you? So don't you be nervous. Relax, nothing's gonna go wrong.

Jackie: No, of course not. Nicky, it's finally happening.

Nick: No tears. The tears aren't for now, the tears are for the wedding. They're not for now.

Jackie: I am allowed to be a little sentimental, all right? On the most important day of my son's life. You're getting married, you're starting a family, and it's just like I imagined.

Nick: Well, I'm glad it's all working out for you.

Jackie: Oh, you!

Nick: I get it, I get it.

Jackie: No, Nicky, I don't think you do. When you were growing up, I tried so hard to give you the family that you deserved. I really did. But I failed.

Nick: Mother --

Jackie: And then you left, and you searched the world for something to fill that emptiness. And as I watched you, my pain was just so deep, I couldn't even cry then. You're going to be happy, darling. You're going to happy, because you are gonna give your son what you never had.

Nick: I love you.

Brooke: You want me to call off the wedding?

Ridge: You'll want to as well when you hear what I found out.

Brooke: I thought you accepted this.

Ridge: Never, and it's damn good I didn't, too, because I would never have busted the guy.

Brooke: What are you talking about?

Ridge: Ever heard of a woman named Maya?

Brooke: Who?

Ridge: Maya. Has Nick ever mentioned her?

Brooke: No. Who is she?

Ridge: His lover.

Brooke: What?

Ridge: It's been going on for months, Brooke.

[ Brooke sighs ]

Brooke: That's ridiculous.

Ridge: Is it? How much do you really know about this guy, huh? Where does he go when he's not with you?

Brooke: I know that he loves me and that he's very honest.

Ridge: Really?

Brooke: Yes, really.

Ridge: Then why is he sending wire transfers, Brooke? Hundreds of thousands of dollars to a woman you've never even heard of?

Brooke: Where did you hear that?

Ridge: Doesn't matter. The point is, I have proof.

Brooke: Is that all this is about, wire transfers?

Ridge: I've also heard him talking to her on the phone, telling her not to call him because they can't risk it. Your Mr. Honesty, your Mr. Straight-shooter is hiding this relationship from you, Brooke.

Brooke: Ridge, it's probably just business.

Ridge: I was president of the company. You don't think I would have known about that? We're talking to the tune of millions of dollars here.

Brooke: And where would he get millions of dollars?!

Ridge: Damn good question. Maybe we can add embezzlement to the list.

Brooke: Oh, my god, Ridge, this is insane!

Ridge: The point is, Brooke, he's been lying to you. Doesn't that make you concerned? Doesn't that scare you to death?

Brooke: You have got to stop this.

Ridge: I would love to, Brooke, if you'd just listen to me!

Brooke: No, not -- I mean this Ridge -- this -- attacking Nick! He's your brother, for god's sake, and he's the father of my child!

Ridge: You don't need to keep reminding me of that, okay?

Brooke: Look, I don't want my child growing up in a war zone. So if you can't just control yourself, I'm going to have to cut you out of my life. I love you, Ridge, and I wish to god things were different, but they're not. And we have to face that reality.

Ridge: You do not know this guy.

Brooke: Oh, god, Ridge.

Ridge: Ask him.

Brooke: Ask --

Ridge: Go ahead, just ask him.

Brooke: You want me to ask my fiancÚ, on our wedding day, if he's having an affair?!

Ridge: Yes, just ask him.

Brooke: Stop it! Will you just stop it?! Just let me go. Let me be happy.

Ridge: Nick is never gonna make you happy, Brooke.

Brooke: He already does.

Ridge: That's because you're seeing what you want to see.

Brooke: No, Ridge, that is you. You want to believe that Nick is some horrible person, and he's not. He's really a good man.

Ridge: Well, I'm gonna prove your good man's been lying.

Brooke: Oh, please, just leave it alone!

Ridge: A couple of hours, Brooke. That's all I need.

Brooke: Stop!

Ridge: Just hold off. Stall him, okay.

Brooke: What?

Ridge: Do not give up on us. Do not give up on us. I never will. I never will, Brooke.

Nick: This a little better?

[ Jackie gasps ]

Jackie: Darling, you look positively handsome. Let me help you with your jacket.

Nick: Oh, thanks.

Massimo: Well, I agree, but there is something missing.

Nick: Oh, come on, I'm playing by the rules here. I got the tie, I got the tux.

Massimo: Mm-hmm.

Nick: A flower?

Massimo: A flower? No, no flower. A boutonniere. All right, now stay still. Otherwise, I'm gonna stick you with this pin here. Oh, I can tell you how I wish your grandfather were here today. Because before he passed on, he didn't think I would even ever get married, let alone having a grandchild. Okay? And here I am standing in for my own son at his wedding, and some day Dominick, you'll be doing the same for your son.

Nick: Thanks.

[ Doorbell rings ]

Massimo: Now listen, do you need some help with this tie? Here, get it above this first -- yeah.

Jackie: Deacon.

Deacon: Are we the first to arrive?

Jackie: Massimo and Nicky, they're in the living room, and won't they be so pleased to see you, darling.

Rick: Mom? You're not dressed.

Brooke: Rick.

Rick: I just saw Ridge's car leaving the driveway. What -- what did he want?

Brooke: He asked me to postpone the wedding.

Rick: What?

Brooke: He thinks he found out something about Nick.

Rick: You've gotta be kidding me?

Brooke: Well, I think he's just grasping at straws.

Rick: On your wedding day?

Brooke: He says that I made a terrible mistake and that Nick can't be trusted.

Rick: But you didn't listen. Mom?

Brooke: Nick is a good man.

Rick: Well, of course he is. Ridge is just desperate.

Brooke: He's hurting.

Rick: I know. I know, and I feel for him, mom. I really do. You know, you're marrying someone else. That's gotta be hell on him. But he shouldn't be doing this to you.

Brooke: Whether he stopped by or not, I still would've been thinking about him.

Rick: Mom --

Brooke: Honey, we were so happy.

Rick: I know.

Brooke: Now, I look around, and I -- I don't even recognize my life anymore.

Rick: So it's not exactly what you planned, but that doesn't mean it can't be terrific. You just need to let go of the past. You have to let go of Ridge.

Ridge: What are you doing here?

Ridge: Dad? You shouldn't be here.

Eric: Neither should you.

Ridge: You don't know what's going on.

Eric: So tell me.

Ridge: I'm meeting someone here. She should be here any minute.

Eric: And what does that have to do with Nnick?

Ridge: I think he's having an affair.

Eric: What? You think he's cheating on Brooke?

Ridge: Yeah, I do. And I'm gonna prove it, too.

Eric: Did you say this to Bbrooke?

Ridge: Oh, she didn't believe me.

Eric: I'm not at all surprised.

Ridge: Look, I'm not just shooting in the dark with this. I heard a phone conversation between nick and this woman. It was all very secretive, clandestine. And then I got into his computer --

Eric: Oh, for god's sake, Ridge.

Ridge: But dad, I found e-mails going back months. It was all about secret meetings and wire transfers.

Eric: Well, that doesn't mean they're having an affair!

Ridge: Well, it ain't business, because I would've known about it.

Eric: All right, hang on. Just stop right there. Look, Ridge, I'm no happier about this wedding than you are. But it was very, very difficult for Brooke to make this decision, and now you're asking her to cancel her wedding just because of some suspicion of yours?

Ridge: Because she could be making a huge mistake.

Eric: Well, so could you.

Ridge: I'll find that out soon, won't I?

Eric: This woman, is that's who's coming here now?

Ridge: She thinks she's meeting Nick. You've gotta get out of here, because if she finds you here, she could bolt.

Eric: Well, what's she gonna do when she finds you here?

Ridge: Dad, I know what's going on. I just need confirmation. That's all.

Eric: And then what?

Ridge: And then brooke gets on with her life -- without Nick.

Jackie: There. Doesn't he looking handsome, darling?

Nick: I think I'm turning blue.

Massimo: See, ladies love a man in a tuxedo.

Nick: Well, this little lady would love me in a burlap sack, wouldn't you?

Jackie: And so would her mother.

Nick: Maybe I should go change.

Jackie: Don't you dare.

Rick: Hello, everybody. Here comes the bride.

Nick: Look who's here.

Jackie: Oh, mommy.

Nick: Go, go, go, go, go.

Hope: Mommy!

Brooke: Hi, honey. Oh, goodness.

Jackie: Wait, wait, wait. What are you doing here? Would you please go in the kitchen?

Nick: What's the matter?

Jackie: Darling, it is bad luck to see the bride on the wedding day.

Nick: Well, it's too late now.

Brooke: It's only bad luck to see her in her dress.

Massimo: You look radiant.

Brooke: Thank you.

Nick: Is it bad luck for the bride to see the groom in his tuxedo?

Brooke: Let's not talk about bad luck.

Jackie: No, let's not. That's all behind us now.

Massimo: I'll tell you what we do. Why don't we give these lovebirds a moment to themselves?

Rick: You know what? I'll just take this stuff upstairs.

Jackie: I'll show you where to go.

Rick: Okay.

Jackie: Follow me. Let me take that.

Deacon: That's my girl. All righty.

Massimo: Oh, why don't we get some air, Deacon?

Deacon: Sounds good. Let's go.

Nick: Hi.

Brooke: Hi. So is Katie here yet?

Nick: No, but I did see the minister in the kitchen.

Brooke: Did he give you any last-minute advice?

Nick: Yeah, he tried. But you know what I told him? I said, "I think I know what I'm doing."

Maya: Nick, are you down there?

Ridge: You just missed him. No, you don't. No, you don't.

[ Maya speaking broken English ]

Maya: Pardon. I'm tourist. Lost tourist.

Ridge: No, you're no tourist, are you, Maya?

Maya: Let me go.

Ridge: Not until I get some answers.
