Deacon: Hello?

Jackie: It's me.

Deacon: Hey, you.

Jackie: Please tell me that you've reconsidered.

Deacon: What, about nick adopting hope?

Jackie: No. About coming here today.

Deacon: Jackie, stop worrying.

Jackie: Massimo is a very, very perceptive man. And I know how you are -- with all your little quips and your jokes and things.

Deacon: Will you relax?

Jackie: He can't suspect anything.

Deacon: I have no intention of coming over and tweaking your old man. Today is all about Hope.

Jackie: Please just stay away. Make an excuse.

Deacon: Jackie, are you kidding me? This is huge. Nick has managed to do what no one else has. He's -- he's guaranteed me a place in hope's life. It's kind of ironic that I have to let him adopt her. But I think it's worth it. For some reason, I trust him.

Jackie: You can.

Deacon: And you can trust me.

Jackie: I hope so.

Deacon: I'll see you later, lover.

Stephanie: A surprise this is. Come in.

Sally: Thank you. Thank you, Stephanie. I'm glad you're here because I have been desperately seeking an answer to a question. And I figure I might as well get that answer right from the horse's mouth.

Stephanie: I beg your pardon?

Sally: Is it true? Is our miss Brooke really about to embark on a cruise on the good ship matrimony yet again?

Stephanie: Yes, and there isn't a Forrester man on the passenger list. Can you imagine?

Sally: How shocking. Congratulations.

Massimo: You know what I'm interested in? Because you always have the books about them. I'm interested in all this bacteria business in Sushi.

[ Doorbell chimes ]

Nick: Hello.

Jackie: Oh, it is the guest of honor. Darling, this is for you.

Nick: You're not even her grandmother yet, and you're already spoiling her.

Jackie: Well, I don't think that Hope minds. Do you, darling?

Brooke: Let's go inside. Come on, sweetie.

Nick: See you. Deacon here yet?

Jackie: No. And from what I understand, he's not very reliable. So why don't we get started?

Nick: We can wait.

Massimo: I think what your mother is trying to say is that she would prefer if he were not here. And I must say, I agree with that.

Nick: He's Hope's father.

Massimo: Not for long. He is signing his rights away. Isn't that the deal you made?

Nick: And from this day forward, he's going to be a part of this family. I am not going to ask this man to stay away from his daughter because I wouldn't want anybody doing it to me.

Massimo: Okay. Dominick, you and he are not alike in any way. Okay? That man cannot be trusted.

Nick: Well, we've all made mistakes that we're not proud of. Mom understands that, right?

Jackie: What?

Nick: I understand you went to bat for Deacon, to get him a position at Marones. Obviously, you see some potential there.

Jackie: Oh darling, personal matters, business matters -- they're two completely different things.

Massimo: Indeed.

Jackie: Would you excuse me?

Nick: Where are you going?

Jackie: I think I'm just going to lie down for a minute. I'm not feeling very well.

Nick: Lie down? What are you talking about? You can't miss this? What's the matter with you?

Jackie: But I may be coming down with something -- I don't know.

Nick: Like what? You feel fine. Now listen, this is a big day. I'm going to be a father. We're putting this family together. Isn't that what you wanted your whole life?

Jackie: Yeah, yeah, you're right. You're right.

[ Doorbell chimes ]

Nick: Relax, will you? Okay? Deacon.

Deacon: Hey.

Nick: Glad you made it.

Deacon: I wouldn't miss this for the world.

Deacon: Thank you. There she is. Hey, come here curly-q! Look at you.

Brooke: Show daddy your cute little dress.

Deacon: A little turn. That is a beautiful dress for a beautiful little girl.

Brooke: No little Eric?

Deacon: Nope. He's spending some time with his grandma Tilly tonight.

Nick: Well, she'll have plenty of time to play with her older brother.

Deacon: Yeah.

Massimo: Sharpe.

Deacon: Massimo, good to see you.

Massimo: You know Jacqueline.

Deacon: Jackie, these are for you.

Jackie: Thank you.

Nick: Well, let's -- let's get this thing started.

Nick: Okay, come on.

Massimo: Good.

Nick: Everybody, I guess, have a seat. Get comfortable. There we go. Well, thank you all for coming. It means a lot. And it's usually the bride that changes her name. But in ts case, we're all going to do it. Brooke and Hope -- me and our son -- we're all going to be Marones. Long before I knew Massimo was my father, his name was one that stood for loyalty, courage and integrity. I, sir, am honored -- we all are -- to be part of this long, proud tradition.

Massimo: Congratulations. Welcome, my son.

Sally: Don't think of this as losing a daughter-in-law, Sstephanie. Think of it more as gaining --

Stephanie: Peace of mind.

Sally: Peace of mind, exactly. Peace of mind for everybody except poor mojo, that is, because now he is going to have to deal with Brooke.

Stephanie: Yes, and many other things, from what I understand.

Sally: Really? What's your source?

Stephanie: Massimo called and spoke to Eric the other day. Apparently, Jacqueline stayed out all night.

Sally: No, really?

Stephanie: Without any plausible explanation.

Sally: A-ha. And now Massimo thinks that she's cheating on him?

Stephanie: I guess so.

Sally: That doesn't make any sense. They're practically newlyweds.

Stephanie: I know. Before they got married, I told him, "don't rush into this. You really hardly know this woman."

Sally: Well, he's getting to know her a lot better now, isn't he?

Stephanie: Yes, and she's about to find out just how jealous and possessive a man like Massimo can be. Watch as this cut is being protected invisibly

Sally: Oh, my, my, my, my. Who knew that underneath that cool, calm, very, very British demeanor, Jackie has the soul of a real tramp.

Stephanie: Oh, don't you even go there! And don't you spread any of these rumors around town.

Sally: Rumors? Come on. This is a lot more than rumor. This is the stuff of legend, Stephanie. We are talking about a modern-day Cleopatra, who has already got the roman emperor Julius Caesar lying at her feet. But she is not content. She wants more. Now, the only question is who is going to be her Marc Anthony.

Stephanie: Well, I can tell you who's not going to be -- Eric.

Sally: Well, of course not. Whoever said he was?

Stephanie: That's what Massimo implied by calling here.

Sally: That's ridiculous. Ridiculous. With all the resources Massimo has at his command, I'm sure he's uncovered who the real culprit is by now. And all I can say about that is, whoever the man is, god help him.

Nick: No. You're a notary, too? Is there anything that you don't do? Well buddy, there's no getting rid of me now. I'm officially a Marone!

Massimo: Hear, hear!

Nick: All right, the main event. Ladies? Come here. Whoa, you’re so fast! Do you know what's going to happen when your daddy signs on that paper right there? Do you know?

Brooke: Well, I tried to explain it to her a little bit.

Nick: Well, when your mommy and I get married, that means you're going to have two daddies. How about that? Won't that be nice? You like that? Deacon, I look at you as though you're in this family, now.

Deacon: Nick, I can't tell you how much I appreciate you including me in this -- both of you. You -- you are going to be the most loved little girl in the world. You know that? Yeah?

Nick: Let's do it.

Deacon: Let's do it. I'd like to make a toast, if I could. This is a very bittersweet moment for me. I'm being asked to make what is probably one of the most difficult decisions of my life. When I look at my daughter, I have such a sense of love. It's undeniable. And when I look at all of you, I see that same look. And I know that she's going to be cared for and loved. And that's why I know that I'm making the right decision. So, thank you all.

All: Hear, hear!

Deacon: I've got to tell you. You've done a fantastic job.

Brooke: I've tried my best.

Deacon: I can't express how much this means to me, Brooke.

Brooke: I just hope we don't regret it.

Deacon: You won't.

Nick: A good father will do anything for their child, remember that.

Deacon: Yeah, he will. Thank you.

Massimo: I'll pass on the hug, thank you very much.

Deacon: Massimo, I know I'm probably not your favorite guy. But I really want to thank you for opening up your family to me. I gotta tell you, it feels damn good.

Massimo: Thank you, Deacon. Thank you for your daughter. You can rest assured she'll be in good hands.

Nick: Hey.

Jackie: Oh. Nicky, you really startled me.

Nick: Feeling better?

Jackie: Much, darling -- actually much. It did wonders for me, seeing you and your father -- that really wonderful moment. It's everything I've ever wanted for you, Nicky.

Nick: Good. So what's the problem?

Jackie: There's no problem. What?

Nick: For one thing, you seem awfully thirsty.

Jackie: Oh, that's ridiculous. I mean, it's a little glass of red wine. Everybody is just having --

Nick: Mother! You're hiding something.

Jackie: Don't you say that, not even in jest.

Nick: Who needs to joke, mother? You stink at lying. Now, something's going on with you, and I want to know what it is.

Jackie: Well, this is hardly the time or the place --

Nick: No, no, no, no, you're not getting away from this. Something's wrong. Spill it.

Jackie: I don't want to worry you, all right. But there has been just a little tension, between your father and I.

Nick: Well, that's -- that's understandable since you went AWOL.

Jackie: He doesn't trust me, Nicky.

Nick: It'll blow over.

Jackie: I don't know. Darling, he really does believe that I was actually with another man that night.

Nick: He said that?

Jackie: He doesn't have to. I can feel it in the chill every time he looks at me.

Nick: Have you guys talked about this?

Jackie: I've tried to. But you know what you're father's like when he gets upset.

Nick: He's loud.

Jackie: Well -- has he said anything to you?

Nick: No, no.

Jackie: You'd tell me if he did.

Nick: Of course I'd tell you. That's probably one of the reasons why he hasn't said anything. Look, you were honest with him. That's all you could do. Just be good. Don't let anything happen.

Jackie: No. Definitely not, no.

Nick: Just give him a little time, okay? You'll win his trust back.

Jackie: I just want everything to be the way they were.

Nick: I know. I'm going to go check on Brooke. Okay?

Jackie: Thank you.

Nick: Pregnancy thing, you know. I saw her head into the kitchen.

Massimo: Are you sure that you can't stay for dinner?

Bridget: I would love to, but I have to study.

Oscar: What else is new, right? Listen, make sure that guy doesn't take over my room while I'm gone, okay? He's making himself pretty comfortable.

Hudson: Massimo. It's for you.

Massimo: Ah, thank you. All right. It was great to see you. I'll se you again, okay. Bye-bye.

Oscar: See you later.

Massimo: Massimo here. What did you find out?

Deacon: I love it when you man-handle me, you sexy little minx.

Jackie: Stop it.

Deacon: You need to learn how to take a compliment.

Jackie: And you need to put a lid on it and get out of here right now.

Deacon: Jackie, is this any way to treat your guests? I don't think so.

Jackie: Stop it, Deacon! I mean, if Massimo starts to put the pieces together --

Deacon: I wasn't even thinking about -- that.

Jackie: Oh that's funny, because that is all I have been thinking of today.

Deacon: Really? That's going to have to wait, because today is all about my daughter.

Jackie: So, you haven't noticed the way Massimo's been looking at us.

Deacon: Jackie, I think you're just being paranoid.

Jackie: And you're being naive.

Deacon: There's no way he could put this together.

Jackie: Oh, please. Massimo has enormous resources at his disposal. You know, I'm not the only one with something to lose here. He is a very jealous man. Your life could be at stake.

Massimo: Am I interrupting?

Jackie: Oh, darling. No, we were just talking about how absolutely lovely today was, weren't we?

Massimo: I'd like to have a word with you, Deacon.

Deacon: Sure.

Massimo: Alone.

Nick: I think that went pretty well, don't you?

Brooke: I think so. But your mother seems to be a little jumpy.

Nick: Yeah, you noticed that. Something's going on. Plus, she's been hitting the sauce today.

Brooke: That's not like her, is it?

Nick: No --

Brooke: You think there's trouble in her marriage?

Deacon: Massimo, I'm actually glad to have a moment alone with you.

Massimo: Are you?

Deacon: I meant what I said before.

Massimo: About being grateful and sharing in my family.

Deacon: Yeah.

Massimo: My wife is a very attractive woman, isn't she?

Deacon: Yeah, I suppose. I --

Massimo: You know. You damn well know. I see the way you looked at her.

Deacon: Massimo, I didn't mean any disrespect --

Massimo: There are certain things that a man cannot allow. People who betray me pay a price. You understand?

Deacon: Yeah.

Massimo: No, you don't.

Deacon: Whoa, whoa! Massimo, take it easy! Massimo.

Massimo: But you will. Prepare to die.
