[ Jackie remembering ]

Deacon: Jackie, I should have the test results very soon.   You need to get over here A.A.A.P.

Massimo: Feeling better?

Jackie: Darling, I'm feeling like an idiot, actually. That's what I'm feeling. I have not had that much to drink in -- well, years and years.

Massimo: Well, you and Lauren got carried away.

Jackie: It won't happen again.

Massimo: You know, what's hard to believe is that she was in any condition to fly all the way back to Genoa city.

Jackie: She's got a company to run, darling. Nothing is going to slow her down. And I have a meeting, too.

Massimo: Oh, yes, I know. Dominick just called. He and Brooke are on their way over. To meet with the wedding planner.

Jackie: Here?

Massimo: Yes! They're going to get married here in the house, for goodness sakes -- as soon as possible.

Jackie: Oh!

Massimo: Yeah.

Jackie: When did this happen?

Massimo: Last night, while you were gone.

Jackie: I'm so thrilled, darling. This is just wonderful, wonderful news! And I'm going to be here to talk to them, just as soon as I get back.

Massimo: You're leaving?

Jackie: It's -- a really quick meeting, darling. I have to do it. I'm sorry. I'll be back before you know it. I love you.

Ridge: Caitlin Ramirez is your daughter?

Samantha: It's incredible, isn't it?

Ridge: It's mind blowing is what it is.

Samantha: Oh, nobody was more blown away than she was.

Ridge: I'll bet. She thought her mom was dead.

Samantha: Well, Hector couldn't have her grow up thinking that she wasn't wanted, so he lied to her.

Ridge: Kinda like your mom lied to you.

Samantha: No. Hector was trying to protect Caitlin. All my mother cared about was her reputation.

Ridge: So I guess you won't be having any reunions with grandma anytime soon?

Samantha: No. All I care about is my family. Of course, it will take awhile for us to become a family.

Ridge: Well, there's a lot more here than just biology.

Samantha: That's right. The relationships will have to develop. But at least Caitlin and I aren't starting from scratch.

Ridge: Hmm. You hired her to work at Logan Designs!

Samantha: That's right! With a little encouragement from your son. It's an amazing coincidence.

Ridge: Does Thomas know about this?

Samantha: No. But I guess Caitlin will tell him when she's ready.

Ridge: Okay. Well, I won't let the cat out of the bag.

Samantha: Oh, you know, I just want to tell the whole world. The most unbelievable thing has happened to me. All those years of pain and loneliness are all behind me.

[ Samantha sighs ] And I'm on the verge of this amazing adventure. I'm Caitlin's mother. I have a family.

Ridge: Sammy, there's nothing greater than family.

Massimo: Here's the happy couple!

Nick: Right on time.

Massimo: Very good, very good. Now, am I understand that you picked out this wedding planner?

Nick: Yeah, that's right.

Brooke: We hear he's the best.

Massimo: Well, he'd better be, because this wedding is going to be an international event.

Hudson: I just had a call from the front gate. There is a gentleman on his way up to see Nick and Brooke.

Massimo: Very good, Hudson. Show him in.

Serge: Ahoy there! Where is the handsome Captain Payne?

Nick: Me. That's me. Hi.

Serge: Of course you are.

Nick: How you doin'? Thanks for coming. This is Brooke -- this is my fiancée. Brooke, and this is -- don't tell me -- it's Serge. Serge.

Serge: Sir-gay at your service.

Nick: Sir-gay. Got it. Ah, this is my father over here, Massimo Marone.

Serge: Oh, it's a pleasure.

[ Nick clears his throat ]

Nick: And his assistant -- this is Hudson.

Serge: Hmm. Well, where is the lovely Madame Jacqueline?

[ Massimo sighs]

Deacon: Well, if it isn't Jackie-o!

Jackie: What took you so long?!

Deacon: I'm sorry, I was out on the deck. I didn't hear the car pull up.

Jackie: That's because I parked down the block. Now, give me the test results so I can get out of here!

Samantha: It hasn't totally sunk in yet.

Ridge: Well, it might take a little time.

Samantha: You're speaking from experience.

Ridge: My experience hasn't quite been as positive as yours.

Samantha: Oh, Ridge, I'm sorry. I'm going on about my good news and --

Ridge: No, no, it's all right, Sammy. I'm very, very happy for you.

Samantha: Ridge, I know that Nick and Brooke are back from Hawaii.

Ridge: Has she stopped by the office?

Samantha: No. But people are talking.

Ridge: About what?

Samantha: About a wedding. Rumor has it that Brooke and Nick could be getting married very soon.

Massimo: Mrs. Marone had to run out on business.

Serge: Oh, Mrs. Marone! Oh, how quaint! It's almost as patrician as her portrait. Quick, somebody get me a champagne cocktail! I think it's 1958!

[ Nick laughs ]

[ Whispering ]

Nick: Serge, the old man's a bit old-fashioned. You know what I mean?

Serge: Oh. I think that's charming. The world has gotten far too casual, don't you think? We could all use a bit more starch in our shorts. But I don't have to tell you that, do I, Mr. Hudson? Or you, the fashion genius who brought the garter belt back into vogue.

Brooke: Thank you.

[ Nick laughs ]

Serge: Tell me, what can a modest matrimonial engineer like myself do for the reigning queen of west coast elegance?

Brooke: Um --

Nick: Ideas -- we're just looking for some ideas.

Serge: No problem there. Looking at you, I'm full of them. I'm practically bursting with them.

Nick: Maybe we better get started.

Hudson: Aren't we going to wait for Mrs. Marone?

Massimo: No.

Nick: I thought you said she was going to be right back.

Massimo: Well, that's what she told me. But I have no way of knowing how long she might be.

Deacon: Why are you so angry?

Jackie: The test results, Deacon. Is Nicky the father of Brooke's baby or not?

Deacon: I don't know.

Jackie: The test was inconclusive?

Deacon: No, it's very conclusive. I don't have the results.

Jackie: You told --

Deacon: I just -- I thought maybe, you know, you'd wanna hang out here with me until we found out.

Jackie: Are you crazy?! After what happened here last night, I mean, here is the last place on the planet that I want to be!

Deacon: Wait a minute. Where you gonna go?

Jackie: I'm going to go home to my husband, thank you!

Deacon: Wait a second, what about the results?

Jackie: You call me with the results when you get them, and not a minute sooner!

Deacon: Jackie, the guy's gonna be here any --

Jackie: Don't you touch me!

Deacon: Whoa.

Jackie: If you asked me to come over here to take advantage of me again --

Deacon: Excuse me?

Jackie: I will not. I will not!

Deacon: Okay, you might have been too drunk to remember this, but Jackie, you were a very willing participant.

Jackie: Don't you talk about it, all right? Don't you talk about it. I just want to wipe the whole filthy incident off my brain!

Deacon: Well, as long as you realize that we did get filthy together.

Jackie: Deacon, there is no "we" here, all right? Do you see this? I'm married. I am a married woman, a happily married woman. And my husband was up all night worried sick!

Deacon: Oh yeah, I'll bet he was mad as hell when you came in.

Jackie: And he had every right to be. I should have been with him -- in our house, in my own bed.

Deacon: Jackie, you were in no condition to drive.

Jackie: Deacon, don't you get it?! He's suspicious! Oh, god, I mean, he could have someone watching me right now. He could be tailing my car. He could be tapping my cell phone.

Deacon: Listen, Jackie -- Jackie, calm down. You're stressed, I understand.

Jackie: Stressed?

Deacon: Please, I did not mean to add to this.

Jackie: Well, you have! I took vows, Deacon! I am in love with my husband!

[ Jackie sighs ] I heed a drink!

Deacon: No, you don't. Stop.

Jackie: I heed a drink, and I can't have a drink because --

Deacon: Relax, listen to me. Take a deep -- just take a deep breath. Relax.

Jackie: Relax? How can I relax when everything that I care about in this world is hanging by a thread, and that is because of you!

Deacon: I was just trying to help.

Jackie: Help?! Help me?! You can help me by just leaving me alone and letting this go! Nicky is happy. Brooke is happy. They're at my house right now planning their wedding, and I should be there.

Deacon: No, what you should do is find out the truth. You heed to know who the father of Brooke's baby is, Jackie!

[ Jackie scoffs ]

[ Knock at door ]

[ Whispering ]

Jackie: Is that your friend?

Deacon: Go upstairs, Jackie. Go.

Deacon: Hey, man. Come on in.

Danny: Hey.

Deacon: You got the results there?

Danny: Right here.

Deacon: Thanks.

[ Jackie gasps ]

Serge: Yes, yes -- I already have a vision.

Brooke: What do you see?

Serge: You, there! Descending into the room like an angel from heaven, all in white. A six-foot train rippling down the stairs behind you. And you, waiting for her right here, in full naval dress. Very Richard Gere 1982.

Massimo: Merchant sailors don't wear uniforms.

Brooke: Unless you count that ratty turtleneck sweater.

Nick: I like my ratty turtleneck sweater.

Massimo: You're not gonna wear that at the wedding.

Serge: No, no, no. Absolutely not! I see you in a black suit, white shirt, white tie. Simple, elegant.

Nick: You know, serge, I'm really not a tie kind of guy. Especially white.

Serge: Of course. Ah, but when you tie the knot, one must "tie the knot."

Massimo: So the naval theme is out. Is that what you're saying?

Serge: Oh, I noticed your pond out front. Excellent Feng Shui. But we could enhance it, give it a more fairy-tale type feel.

[ Hudson clears his throat ]

Hudson: What exactly did you have in mind?

Serge: Peacocks -- parading peacocks.

Hudson: No peacocks.

Massimo: Hudson is in charge of the property, so any alterations have to be cleared with him.

Nick: He even put my father's wedding together, so --

Serge: Hmm? Then you're a valuable man to have on my team.

Hudson: Ah, will we be doing the traditional cutting of the log?

Serge: Excuse me?

Nick: Hudson, I think the log-cutting is out.

Serge: Oh, but it does sound intriguing.

Brooke: We want to keep this really simple.

Serge: Oh, it will be simply marvelous. Just tell me what you want, and serge will make it happen. I guarantee, this will be the happiest, most beautiful day of your life.

Ridge: So now you're hearing rumors about Brooke and Nick's wedding?

Samantha: I shouldn't have brought it up. I just thought you might want to talk about it.

Ridge: No, Sammy, I'm all talked out.

Samantha: Is that why you've been throwing yourself into your work?

Ridge: Gee! Can't get anything by you.

Samantha: I know what it's like, Ridge, trying to push the things that hurt you out of your mind. It's a constant battle.

Ridge: Yeah, tell me about it.

Samantha: Well, if you let yourself think about it too much, you just make yourself crazy.

Ridge: Which is why I think we should just not talk about it, okay?

Samantha: You know, Ridge, I don't mean to upset you.

Ridge: No, Sammy, it's not you. It's not you. It just really aggravates me thinking of Brooke up there at the altar, you know, pledging her life away to this guy -- my brother. I know she doesn't love him.

Samantha: She's having his baby.

Ridge: And I respect her for trying to make this work for that child's sake. I do. But it doesn't make it any easier to swallow. In fact, the truth is, I'm choking on it.

Deacon: All right, danny boy, this looks more complicated than Chinese geometry. You want to come over here and explain this to me?

Danny: This is the mother's DNA.

Deacon: Okay.

Danny: That's the raw data from the CVS test. And this is the potential dad's DNA.

Deacon: What is that right there?

Danny: That's your answer.

Samantha: I've got an idea. You need to get away.

Ridge: Leave town?

Samantha: A change of scenery would do you good.

Ridge: No, Sammy, I don't want to run away from this.

Samantha: No, you need to regroup. You're exhausted, you're not getting along with your family, you're throwing yourself into work. It's not good for you, for the kids, for Forrester Creations. You can handle anything. I believe that. But only if you're at the top of your game, which you're not.

Ridge: Well, thank you for so kindly pointing that out, but you're right.

Samantha: I don't mean to discourage you.

Ridge: It's all right, Sammy. And I know you've got a point.

Samantha: Yes, I do. And I want to make sure that you get it. You are an incredible man, Ridge, and you deserve a life with Brooke -- if that's what you want. And I know that it might seem impossible now and that you're frustrated, but look at me.

[ Samantha sighs ] All the years I grieved the loss of my child -- I didn't lose her, Ridge. And as unlikely as it might seem right now, you might not lose Brooke.

Ridge: Are you actually encouraging me not to give up?

Samantha: Miracles do happen. I'm living proof.

Ridge: Sammy –

Nick: So this is where we're gonna get married, right here?

Brooke: Right here --

Nick: Mm-hmm.

Brooke: -- Right on this very spot.

Nick: That's it. This is the spot.

[ Brooke sighs ] You're gonna be -- what did he say you were? You're gonna be?

Brooke: An angel.

Nick: An angel, right. And I'm gonna be --

Brooke: Dressed like a sailor?

Nick: Right, right, right.

[ Brooke giggles ] You know, if this guy is too much, we can dump him.

Brooke: No.

Nick: We don't have to stay with him.

Brooke: He's the best wedding planner in town.

Nick: But we're not obligated to him though, you know? My mother gave me his card. I called him.

Brooke: I know.

Nick: I have no idea what he's like --

Brooke: But I like him. And he obviously likes you.

Nick: Well, who wouldn't? He's gotta quit calling me Captain Payne, though.

Brooke: Oh. Was it too formal, you think?

Nick: No, but the next time I see him, my name's going to be Marone.

Brooke: You decided to do that?

Nick: Yeah, the old man's already drawn up the papers.

Brooke: Oh, I bet he's thrilled.

Nick: Well, how do you feel about it? It's going to be your name, too.

Brooke: You know, your family has been wonderful to me. So I'd be proud to be a Marone.

Hudson: Parading peacocks indeed! I never heard such nonsense!

Massimo: And you'll never see them either.

Hudson: Oh, I'll make sure of it. Massimo, what is it?

Massimo: Jacqueline should have been here for this.

Hudson: She had a business engagement.

Massimo: Hmm. Nothing is more important to her than this wedding. Something's not right, Hudson. Something is going on in her life -- something that she doesn't want me to know about.

Jackie: Come on, come on!

[ Jackie sighs ] Oh, I can't stand it. I've got to know.

Jackie: Was that your friend?

Deacon: Yes.

Jackie: Are those the results?

Deacon: Yeah.

Jackie: Are they conclusive?

Deacon: There's no doubt about it.

Jackie: So what do they say?

Deacon: Are you calm?

Jackie: Why?

Deacon: Because I don't want to start telling you this and have you freak out.

Jackie: What are you saying, Deacon, that I don't want to hear this? Deacon, are you saying that I don't want to hear this?

Deacon: Jackie, you need an answer. I mean, come on, look at yourself. You can't go on like this.

Jackie: No, you're right. You're right. Okay, okay, okay. This baby is either Nicky's son, or it's Ridge's son. So tell me. Who is the father of Brooke's baby?
