Nick: Okay. Thanks. I'll see you in a little bit, okay? Done deal. They want to have the wedding at the house. No problem.

Brooke: But he knows to keep it low-key, right?

Nick: Well, low-key with Massimo, that could mean a 30-piece orchestra and fireworks.

Brooke: Oh, boy.

Nick: Oh, my mother. Can you imagine my mother when she finds out about this? The whole thing could just get out of hand.

Brooke: I'm still overwhelmed just thinking about the wedding.

Nick: Well, I'm sure that's what they're gonna want to talk about all night.

Brooke: What's tonight?

Nick: Dinner. They invited us over to dinner. I didn't mention that. You up for it?

Brooke: Oh, uh, actually -- no, I'm not really up for it. Maybe we can hook up later?

Nick: Okay. You going home?

Brooke: Yeah. There's a pit stop I'd like to make first. Something I need to take care of.

Nick: Pit stop?

Brooke: Yeah.

Nick: Don't do it.

Brooke: Ridge is bound to find out about the wedding. I think I should tell him first.

Nick: It doesn't sound like you're doing a very good job of distancing yourself.

Brooke: It's not just Ridge I'm concerned about. It's the children. And the sooner I tell him, the sooner he can prepare them. Trust me. Really. It's the best thing. So where can I find him? Is he at the office?

Nick: I suggest you check Forrester Creations.

Brooke: Forrester? Why?

Nick: He walked out on the old man the other day. He joined Forrester.

Brooke: Well, I guess that's the right place for him. He, you know, always felt like it was his second home. I just never even thought that he was considering going back there.

Nick: Seems like he's doing a better job of distancing than you are.

Brooke: I'm the one who's getting married very soon.

Nick: Just remember who you're marrying.

Eric: I could never hate you, Stephanie. But I don't like what you've done.

Stephanie: What I've done is to protect you and our family.

Eric: From a very skewed perspective, I would say. This woman you say has infected our family as the mother of two of my children -- children of whom I'm very proud.

Stephanie: Yes, and fortunately they turned out well in spite of her.

Eric: That's not fair.

Ridge: Mother's never been fair where Brooke's concerned. You're ecstatic that Brooke's gone, aren't you, mother?

Stephanie: With good reason.

Eric: Well, Ridge and I don't share in your joy. We love Brooke.

Jackie: Well, you certainly know how to keep a lady waiting.

Deacon: Honey, I'm definitely worth the wait.

Jackie: Oh? I'll be the judge of that.

Deacon: Well, maybe this will help tip the scales in my favor.

Jackie: What? What is --

Deacon: What, this? Oh, this is just Brooke Logan's private medical records and the notorious DNA results.

Jackie: Oh, my god, Deacon. What have you done?

Oscar: So we're just waiting on Nick and Mrs. M?

Massimo: Well, Ridge is not coming, if that's what you're asking. How 'bout a drink?

Oscar: Sure. Things haven't gotten any better?

Massimo: You know, I pray that this wedding will give ridge the closure he needs to move on, so he can come back to our family and the company, where he belongs. Salud.

Oscar: You know, if you find yourself short-staffed at Marone, I could maybe lend a hand.

Massimo: What about your job at Forrester?

Oscar: You tell me. I'm in promotions, yet just today there was a big press conference announcing Thorne Forrester as the new president, and I wasn't even included.

Massimo: Hmm.

Oscar: Which makes me think maybe I should be involved in my own family business. Anyway, this is where my loyalty lies. Besides, how am I ever gonna earn that Marone ring, huh?

Massimo: You know, maybe it's a good idea for you to join the fold. Let me talk to Dominick, we'll see what opportunities there are.

[ Doorbell rings ] Ah, speak of the devil. I am so happy for you, Dominick!

Nick: So I can tell.

Massimo: I think this wedding is going to be the start of a beautiful life for you and Brooke.

Nick: Well, hope so.

Massimo: I know I've had my doubts about Brooke in the past, that's for sure. But I will admit, she has proven to be a remarkable woman.

Stephanie: Brooke has a manipulative personality. What is to love about that?

Eric: Brooke's love for this family has always been real, and her love for you is real as well.

Stephanie: Oh, please. Let's not even go there.

Eric: Why? Why, because you know it's true? You won her over. You ingratiated yourself with her, and she trusted you as a friend when she had no one else to turn to. Do you know how much that must have meant to her? After everything she's been through? And then to find out that it's a total manipulation, a lie.

Stephanie: Now, that is not fair, because any advice or guidance that I've given that woman these past few months has been in her best interest. You just don't want to see it that way, and that's the truth.

Ridge: Oh, that is so much bull, mother!

Stephanie: Oh, please!

Ridge: It's total bull. You've been wanting to drive a wedge between Brooke and me, and that's exactly what you've done.

Stephanie: I did it for you.

Ridge: Well, I don't need my mother doing my affairs, okay? I don't need you telling me what to do, and I don't need you coming up with things that I don't agree with!

Stephanie: It's her choices in life that are the problem here, ridge. And I'm not going to stand by and watch you taken down by that woman because of her choices!

Ridge: Oh, come on!

[ Knock on door ]

Megan: Sorry to interrupt.

Eric: Yeah, Megan -- what is it?

Megan: Ridge has a visitor.

Ridge: It's not really a good time right now, Megan.

Brooke: I promise I'll only be a minute.

Ridge: Logan.

Jackie: You didn't? You didn't break into Dr. Paxson's office?!

Deacon: Jackie -- I'm shocked. That would be illegal. No, come on. I'm a little more clever than that.

Jackie: Yeah? Well, then how'd you get the bloody file?

[ With British accent ]

Deacon: "Hello, Beth. This is Peter calling from Dr. Sobel's office. Apparently, Brooke Logan has become a client of Dr. Sobel's after Dr. Paxson's death -- oh, I know. It's been a terrible tragedy for all of us. Really, it has. Speaking of loss, apparently we have lost Brooke's file, and it's completely M.I.A. -- Looked everywhere for it, and we were wondering if we could maybe send a messenger over. Oh, god, thank you. You have no idea what a help you've been."

Jackie: And let me guess, you were the messenger.

Deacon: Hey, you know, I'm just trying to do my job here.

Jackie: Deacon, I don't find any of this the least bit amusing, you know?

Deacon: Oh, come on. It's a little bit amusing, isn't it?

Jackie: No, it's not and what if you get caught.

Deacon: We're in the clear. Relax. And you know what else? Your conscience will be clear, too, after we rerun the paternity test.

Jackie: There's no need to run the paternity test again. There's no need to go through all of this trouble, 'cause I know that Nicky is the father!

Deacon: Okay, you know what? That's the liquid courage talking. This is not gonna get rid of the demons. This, the truth -- you remember what I told you -- will set you free.

Jackie: All right. How do we do this?

Deacon: Okay, uh -- I talked to a buddy of mine. What we're gonna do is we're gonna compare the sample of Nick's hair to the DNA in Brooke's medical report, and then we're gonna have the answer you need.

Jackie: That Nick is the father of Brooke's baby?

Deacon: At least you're not gonna have to live your life in fear.

[ Knock on door ] Just a second. Hey, man. How long is this gonna take to get the results?

Danny: We're real backed up at the lab.

Deacon: Danny, come on.

Danny: I'll get you the results as soon as I can.

Deacon: I appreciate it, man. Thanks.

Deacon: Jackie, I'll call you as soon as the lab gets in touch with me. Okay?

Jackie: Oh, my god. What am I gonna do? What am I gonna do if ridge turns out to be the father? I just --

Deacon: If that does happen then, you know, we'll deal with it then. Listen, you're not in this alone.

Jackie: You're right. I'm not alone. I'm not alone. I have a husband, and I'm going home to my husband. Oh.

Deacon: Okay, I don't really think you're in any shape to drive anywhere. Come here. Upsy-daisy. Atta girl.

Jackie: Oh, my god. Massimo must be feeling absolutely frantic.

Deacon: Well, how do you think he's gonna feel if he discovers that you're road kill? You're just gonna stay here for awhile, relax, and I'll drive you home.

Jackie: No, don't be stupid. Massimo can't see me with you!

Deacon: Jackie, I'm just trying to help.

Jackie: Thank you for that. Thanks.

Deacon: You know, despite the crazy way you have stormed into my life, I think you're a truly incredible woman.

Jackie: You're a nice guy, Deacon. You know that?

Deacon: Let's keep that on the D.L. -- What do you say, huh?

Jackie: The d -- oh --

Deacon: The down-low -- it's just -- shh.

Jackie: Oh, shh.

Deacon: Kind of, you know, I got a reputation to uphold.

Jackie: Yep.

Deacon: What? What?

Jackie: Why'd you kiss me? The night in the car -- you kissed me, and I -- thought it was strange.

Deacon: I don't know what's strange about kissing a woman that you're attracted to.

Jackie: Married, older --

Deacon: Definitely has it going on still.

Jackie: Are you sure it wasn't just about power and getting the upper hand? No. It was about Massimo, wasn't it? You just wanted revenge.

Deacon: You know, Jackie, to be honest, I didn't really put that much thought into it.

Jackie: I liked it.

[ Jackie laughs ]

Deacon: So did I.

Jackie: Okay. Okay. I'm gonna go back home now. Oh. Oh.

Deacon: Okay. All right, slugger, I don't think you're going anywhere. You are in no shape to drive. Turn around. Turn around. There you go. Oh, okay. Just like doing the cha-cha -- one foot in front of the other. That a girl. There you go.

Jackie: Okay. I got it.

Eric: What brings you by?

Brooke: I heard that Ridge has come back here to Forrester Creations. I think that's wonderful.

Ridge: Thanks. Pretty happy about being back.

Stephanie: So, what's really on your mind, Brooke?

Brooke: You're all going to find out soon enough, anyway. I just wanted to let you know that Nick and I are getting married next week at the Marone house. Ridge, I just need to move on with my life. I know this isn't easy for you any easier than it is for me.

Ridge: Look, if you're worried about me crashing the wedding --

Brooke: No. No, I'm not.

Ridge: Good. 'Cause trust me, I really don't want to be within 100 miles of the place.

Eric: Ridge. Ridge!

Megan: Just a minute. Please hold. Eric, you have a call. It sounds rather urgent.

Eric: I'll take it out here. Eric Forrester.

Massimo: Eric, Massimo.

Eric: Massimo. What's on your mind?

Massimo: My wife. Is she there?

Eric: No, she's not. Is something wrong?

Massimo: Oh, nothing for you to worry about.

Eric: Well, whatever you say.

Massimo: Good-bye, Eric.

Deacon: Okay, easy. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa. Okay, easy. Easy, easy, easy. One foot right after the other. There you go. Come on. Okay, okay. Okay. There you go. All right, sit down right here. Come here. Oh, easy, tiger. Easy. Okay, um -- okay, uh -- Jackie, come here. Jackie, come on. Okay, um -- just sit back. Okay. Come on. It's okay. Let's uh -- let's take your shoes off. Easy. Okay, okay, okay. Come here. Listen. Relax. All right? Here. Here you go. Okay?

[ Jackie moans ]

Deacon: Good night, Jackie.

Brooke: I really have to go, so --

Stephanie: Ahh, you couldn't resist, could you?

Brooke: What?

Stephanie: Why didn't you phone him? Or better yet, why didn't you let someone else tell him. No, no, no. You couldn't do that, could you? You came in here wiggling your little ass. "Oh, Ridge, I just wanted to let you know that Nick and I are getting married next week."

Brooke: That's really very mature, Stephanie.

Stephanie: You can't brush your teeth without telling him what you're doing. But not anymore. I take it I'm not going to be invited to the wedding, is that correct? In that case, I'd like to offer you a toast. I mean it. I'm very, very happy that you and Nick have found one another. I hope that your heart, your home, is filled with joy. I hope the baby is happy and healthy. I hope I never see you again.

Brooke: I can't believe I was gullible enough to believe you ever really cared.

Stephanie: I did care. I cared enough to get you out of my family.

Brooke: Well, this is my family, too, Stephanie. What are you gonna do, just erase me from the history books?

Stephanie: What a delicious idea. I don't think it's going to happen, though. 'Cause here you are, back again. But this is the last time. You stay away. Stay away from the company, stay away from my family. I am finally finished with you, and there isn't anything that you can do about it. I'm through with you. I'm through with you. I am through with you!
