Nick: What do you say? Will you marry me?

Ridge: Hold on, Logan. Just hold on. I'm almost there.

Samantha: Oh, hey, Eric. I was just gonna order some Chinese. Would you like anything? Eric, is something wrong?

Eric: That's what I'm trying to figure out. I just can't seem to shake this feeling.

Samantha: And what feeling is that?

[ Eric sighs ]

Eric: Brooke. I'm afraid that Stephanie and Massimo are gonna pressure her into accepting Nick's marriage proposal tonight.

Samantha: Well, Brooke is a big girl. I'm sure she can decide on her own.

Eric: Normally, I would agree. But she's been under a huge amount of stress lately. I just hope that Ridge gets to her before it's too late.

Stephanie: Oh, please, just take the ring.

Nick: Wait a minute here. Let's hold it a minute, shall we? I gotta be honest with you. This is very uncomfortable, proposing in front of all you people like this. And I'm sure it's twice as uncomfortable for Brooke. It feels very traditional. And I've always been the opposite -- no disrespect intended. So I'm gonna just -- I'm just gonna tell it like it is. You -- I'm gonna be good to you. But I'm gonna keep you on your toes every day of your life, and I expect you to do the same to me. Will you sail away with me?

Brooke: Yes. Yes. I will.

[ Cheers ]

Music: I'll take it to the end
remember where we've been
where we have to go
take a look around
look at what we found
know that we can be
what we want to be
I'm going back again
I see the story in your eyes
and we can never say good-bye
I want to show you
to show me
come on show me
take a look around
look at what we found
I know that we can be
what we want to be
I'm goin' back again
I'm goin' back again
I'm goin' back again
I'm goin' back again
I'm goin' back again

Samantha: What do you mean, "before it's too late"?

Eric: Oh, Massimo's throwing this big shindig for Nick and Brooke tonight.

Samantha: Oh, yeah. But you didn't go.

Eric: Why would I? To cheer him on while he flexes the Marone muscle to strong-arm Brooke into marrying Nick?

Samantha: Do you think that's why he's throwing the party?

Eric: Yes, I do. And I want no part of it; especially knowing how much Ridge still loves Brooke. And if Massimo truly loved his two sons equally, he would feel exactly the same way.

Samantha: And Ridge is on his way over there right now?

Eric: Yeah. Well, you know as well as I do he would go to the ends of the earth for Brooke.

Samantha: Yeah. Which is why he'll never accept her being with Nick.

Eric: No, and I can't say I blame him. And now, on top of everything else, he has everyone meddling in their affairs, including his own mother. I'm just afraid that Stephanie's gone too far this time.

Rick: Congratulations, mom. Hey, you, too.

Nick: Thanks.

Rick: Yeah.

Baron: Congratulations.

Nick: Thank you, sir. Thank you.

Baroness: Grazia. Congratulations. I wish you much happiness.

Brooke: Thank you.

Nick: Thank you very much.

Massimo: Ladies and gentlemen, if I could have your attention for a moment, I'll try not to make this a habit. But I would certainly like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for being here, and especially all of you who have come such long distances to be at this happy occasion. Now, we now have not only one, but two blessings to celebrate -- the impending birth of Brooke and Dominick's child and their impending marriage. So, congratulations, my son. And to you, Brooke, I say, welcome to the family. To Mr. And Mrs. Dominick Marone.

[ Applause ]

All: Hear, hear!

Oscar: And I would like to welcome Nick and Brooke to the joys of engaged life. And I know what I'm talking about, because I happen to be engaged to Brooke's beautiful daughter, Bridget. And since it seems to me that the Marone men have cornered the market on gorgeous women, I think I should make a toast to that amazing tradition and then starting many new ones. So, felicitazione!

[ Laughter and applause ]

Rick: Congratulations to my mother and Nick.

Massimo: Listen, I am impressed with you, Oscar.

Oscar: Oh, I'm trying, mo. I'm trying.

Jackie: Well, I couldn't have picked a more wonderful daughter-in-law. I am thrilled. So tell me, are you and hope going to move into the penthouse, or is Nicky going to move into your house?

Brooke: I haven't really thought of that yet.

Nick: You okay?

Brooke: I'm just --

Nick: Overwhelmed?

Brooke: Hmm, a little, I am.

Nick: Yeah. Well, we'll get some tunes going. Do you like dancing? I promise I'll step on your feet.

Brooke: Not tonight.

Nick: What do you say we blow this pop stand, baby?

Brooke: Well, we are the guests of honor.

Nick: Exactly. Excuse me, if I could have everyone's attention please -- and I speak for Brooke. A heartfelt thank you to all of you for being here tonight and sharing this with us. And a special thank you to my mother and father for putting this together. But we'd like to spend a little time alone. So, we're going to say a good night. Good night, everyone. Thank you.

Rick: Get out of here, you crazy kids.

[ Applause ]

Nick: Oh, you!

Jackie: Okay, you two, you just go and have a fantastic time. Because you know what? You have made my year. Bye, darling. I love you.

Nick: I love you, mother.

Jackie: Oh, yes. I love you both. Go!

Stephanie: Well, I guess congratulations are in order.

Brooke: I guess so.

Stephanie: Good-bye, Brooke.

Nick: Brooke, limo's waiting. Let's go.

Jackie: Massimo, I can hardly believe it. Our son is engaged to be married. I mean, darling, this feels so right. They're just going to make the most wonderful family.

Massimo: With our grandson born a Marone, as it should be.

James: I must say, I'm a little concerned about Brooke. I think this may have happened just a little too quickly.

Stephanie: Why? She's finally getting the family she's always wanted. And we're finally getting what we've always wanted.

Stephanie: It's an extraordinary day for both families. Brooke is all yours.

Massimo: Hmm.

Stephanie: So shall we say -- to new beginnings and happy endings.

Massimo: Ah!

Ridge: What the hell is going on here? Where's Brooke?

Massimo: She just left.

Ridge: And where would she have gone?

Stephanie: To start a new life.

Nick: There you go. There's that face.

Brooke: Does the driver know where we're going? He just passed my house.

Nick: Yeah, he knows where we're going.

Brooke: Where are we going?

Nick: Well, I just thought because tonight turned into a bit of an ordeal when Massimo brought us up like that, it was --

Brooke: Yeah, it was strange.

Nick: Yeah. So I was thinking maybe we'd get out of town for a little bit, where the biggest decision we have to make is -- do we swim in a pool, or do we swim in an ocean? Huh? What do you say, hope? Want to go on vacation?

Hope: Yeah.

[ Nick laughs ]

Nick: What do you think, mom?

Brooke: Well, I think I should take advantage of my maternity leave.

Nick: What do you really think?

Brooke: I'm scared.

Nick: I know. I know.

Samantha: And what does Stephanie have to do with all of this?

Eric: Stephanie's been interfering in their lives since time began. But now, more than ever, whatever happens has to be Brooke's decision -- not Sstephanie's, not Massimo's -- Brooke's.

Samantha: And you think that Stephanie is trying to pressure Brooke into doing something?

Eric: I know my wife. And the way she's been acting -- she's up to something tonight.

Ridge: Mother, why don't you stop talking in riddles? You're up to something. What is it? Look, Brooke is very fragile right now. She needs rest and not parties.

James: I'd say Brooke's in a very good place right now, Ridge.

Ridge: The illustrious James Warwick -- conveniently here, huh? Tell me what kind of sick head games you've been playing on Brooke now, huh? Hmm? How about the rest of you?

Stephanie: Oh, calm down, Ridge.

Ridge: No, mother, I don't have to calm down. I want answers, and I want them now!

[ Massimo sighs ]

Massimo: Folks, if I could have your attention one last time. Let me thank you again for being here and helping our family in this grand celebration. Now, it is getting a little late. The happy couple have left, and I have limos ordered for all of you.

Baron: We should be thanking you, Massimo, for this incredible evening.

Massimo: It was that, wasn't it?

Nick: You're getting so heavy. Oh, remember this? Huh? Somewhere for you. Oh, hi, captain. Thanks for getting all prepared on such short notice.

Pilot: No problem. We're all fueled up, ready to go.

Nick: Great.

Pilot: Except for one thing -- you haven't told me where we're going yet.

Nick: Paradise, captain. Set course for paradise. Right? Right? Right?

[ Nick clears his throat ]

Nick: Hey, Brooke? If you don't mind, I would like to talk to Hope -- try to make some sense of tonight, explain what that ring is on your finger. You okay with that? Hey! Come here!

[ Hope giggling ] You get up here right now. Guess what? You know what? I can't fly planes, but you know what I can do?

Hope: What?

Nick: I can give little, curly haired, adorable girls plane rides!

[ Nick makes plane noises ]

[ Hope laughs ] What? You sound like you like that. You want some more?

[ Nick makes plane noises ] All the way to the seat.

[ Hope laughing ] You like plane rides, don't you? Huh?

Hope: Yeah!

Nick: Hey, I wanna ask you something, okay?

[ Nick clears his throat ] Do you know what it means to be engaged? No? Well, do you remember tonight when all those people were together, and -- and I gave mommy a ring? Which means we're going to be married, and that means we're gonna be a family. How's that sound, huh? How's that sound? Does that sound good? Good! So, I'm gonna be around all the time now. And I'll be able to give you plane rides and tuck you into bed. Does that sound good to you? You know what? Sounds good to me, too. So, let's put your seat belt on, okay? Okay, come here. Sit up. Sit up now. Get -- get you where you --

[ Hope laughs ] Get this seat belt on. Get up here. There.

[ Nick grunts ]

[ Hope laughs ]

Massimo: Good night. Thank you.

Ridge: All right. Now you've cleared the room. Now I want you to tell me exactly what happened in this den of thieves tonight.

Stephanie: Ridge, I realize that you are very worried about Brooke. I am, too, especially since she had the anxiety attack.

Ridge: Which, fortunately, I think I've been able to help her through.

Stephanie: Well, I know you wanted to help her. But the truth is, I think you've been counterproductive.

Massimo: Ridge, listen, that is the reason why I called James. I wanted a doctor who knew Brooke and the effect that all of this stress will have on her baby. He is aware of the stress that she's been under and this separation anxiety that she has with you, all right? How it will impair the pregnancy.

Ridge: What, are you saying I'm the cause now?

Stephanie: Oh, no, Ridge, no, not at all. Look, we -- we talked to Brooke tonight, all of us, because we wanted to try and make her understand that this anxiety isn't going to just disappear. She's got to make some hard decisions. She's got to take the next step in her life.

Ridge: Yeah, well, she's not gonna marry Nick. The guy's already struck out twice with this proposal thing anyway. Look, just stop jerking me around here. Tell me where Bbrooke is right now.

Massimo: She left with Dominick.

Stephanie: She left with her fiancÚ.

Ridge: Her fiancÚ?

Stephanie: She accepted Nick's proposal tonight.

Ridge: Brooke agreed to marry him?

Stephanie: Yes, Ridge, she did.

Ridge: No. No, she didn't agree. You did. All the years of pressuring her and beating her down, you've -- now I got to find Brooke, and I got to talk to her.

Stephanie: No one forced her to do this! Do you understand? She accepted his proposal on her own. Now I know this is hard for you to hear. I understand that. How many years have I watched you try and put this together over and over again? Well, it's not going to happen. And as difficult as this is for you, you have got to let her go. You have to let her go.
