[ Jackie sighs ]

Massimo: Darling, our guests should be here any minute. Are you ready?

Jackie: For the party or the confrontation with Brooke?

Massimo: They'll both go off without a hitch.

Jackie: Yeah. Thank you for inviting dr. Warwick. I mean, having a professional here will make it feel like less of an ambush.

Massimo: Well, I like to think of it more as an intervention. And certainly, James is going to be a critical part of it. We all have to be strong, Jacqueline, okay? Remember, we are doing this for Brooke and for Dominic. For this family and their son. And after Brooke hears what we have to say, Ridge will be out of her life and she and Dominick will be free to marry.

Rick: You're not dressed.

Brooke: I still have my doubts about going.

Rick: Mom, you have to go. You're the guest of honor.

Brooke: I know, I know. I told Stephanie I would.

Rick: C'mon, it'll be good for you. You know, Nick will be there. You guys always have a great time together.

Brooke: I am kind of curious about what he's going to wear.

Rick: A Hawaiian shirt and a cummerbund. But nobody will notice because you'll be wearing this.

Brooke: Oh, it's beautiful!

Rick: I asked the florist to make something special. Irises symbolize wisdom and valor. Thought you could use a little extra courage tonight.

Brooke: Thank you, sweetheart.

Hope: Mommy?

Brooke: Hello, sweetheart.

Hope: Do you like my dress?

Brooke: Oh, I love it! You look like a princess.

Hope: Will Nick like it?

Brooke: Oh, yes! Nick is going to love it, too. Give me a hug. You look beautiful!

Rick: All right, come on short stuff. Mom has to finish getting ready. We've got a party to go to.

Brooke: See you soon.

Stephanie: Mrs. Brooke Marone.

James: Stephanie?

Stephanie: James, you look very handsome.

James: Why, thank you. If this is not my most successful intervention, it certainly will be my most sophisticated.

Stephanie: Oh.

James: There can be no misconceptions about any of this. Brooke's attachment to Ridge has defined her entire life. Her values. Her ambition. Her choice of career. Letting go of him, she's giving up absolutely everything she knows. It's got to be very, very painful for her.

Stephanie: I know. I'm very concerned about her.

James: Well, this newfound concern you have for Brooke is quite a turnaround. Or, is it?

Eric: Stephanie. I need to talk to you.

Stephanie: Could you give us a moment alone for this?

James: Of course. I'll wait for you outside in the car.

Stephanie: Thank you, James. Oh, you're really not going to come?

Eric: No. You have James Warwick to accompany you. Besides, I disapprove of this whole thing.

Stephanie: Eric. Eric, their marriage is over. And Ridge and Brooke both have to move on. If I can help them do that --

Eric: Help them? How? By pushing Brooke and Nick together?

Stephanie: She's stuck. She just can't move on with her life. She certainly can't continue at this level of tension. My god, she had an anxiety attack.

Eric: I know. She's not taking care of herself.

Stephanie: You know what she has to do? She has to accept the fact that she can have a life without Ridge.

Eric: And if she ends up married to Nick, things don't turn out too badly for you either, do they?

Stephanie: Why are you harping on that?

Eric: Am I supposed to believe it's a coincidence? You befriend Brooke and now, you finally have everything you've ever wanted.

Stephanie: You think that Ridge and Brooke belong together. That's your opinion. Fine. It is not my opinion. So, I'll tell you what -- let's just agree to disagree.

Nick: Hey, beautiful. Ready to go?

Nick: You look amazing.

Brooke: So do you.

Nick: The rental place didn't have the blue ruffled one I wanted. But that's what you get for waiting 'til the last minute.

Brooke: Oh, sorry.

Nick: Hmm.

Brooke: I think I got there before you, because I got the blue ruffled one.

Nick: Nice choice. I see somebody beat me to the flowers.

Brooke: Rick. Yes, he said the irises are a symbol for courage.

Nick: Right. Listen, if you're not up for this, it's fine.

Brooke: No, no, no, no. Really, I told Stephanie I'd be there.

Nick: Okay. If you start to feel uncomfortable or stressed -- anything like that -- we're out of there. Okay?

Brooke: I'm only going to meet everybody that means anything to your entire family. So, why would I be stressed?

Nick: Yeah. Let's make a deal, okay? Seriously. We go in. We shake hands. We say hi to everybody. And then we -- leave.

Brooke: Thank you. For being so understanding.

Nick: It's going to look like an international summit, I swear, but it's just a party. Okay?

Brooke: Okay.

Nick: Okay.

Brooke: I'll get my purse.

Nick: Okay.

Nick: Brooke. Come here. You stand next to me, you'll be fine. I hope.

Brooke: So do I.

[ Phone ringing ]

[ Beep of answering machine ]

Ridge: Brooke.

I hope this means

you're getting some rest.

You don't have to

call me back tonight.

Take care of yourself.

And I'll check in tomorrow.

Massimo: Ah, baron. Baroness. What a pleasure it is to see you again. Indeed. I want you to meet my lovely wife, Jacqueline.

Baroness: How do you do?

Jackie: Pleased to meet you.

Baroness: For the proud grandparents.

Massimo: Oh, how nice!

Jackie: How very gracious of you. Thank you.

Massimo: Yes, my father hid Remy's father's wine in the cellar during the war. Hmm?

Baron: Unfortunately, they hid most of it in their bellies.

[ Loud laughter ]

Massimo: Very sensible! Come on, I want you to meet some people. Excuse us a minute, honey.

Stephanie: Good evening, Jacqueline.

Jackie: Oh good, good.

[ Sighs ] You're here. Dr. Warwick, thank you so much for coming.

James: My pleasure. How are you.

Stephanie: Where's Brooke?

Jackie: Nicky's picking her up.

Massimo: James. Come, come. I want you to meet someone.

James: Would you excuse me, please?

Stephanie: Of course. I brought Nick's ring.

Jackie: Oh.

Stephanie: I'm sure we'll have it on her hand by the end of tonight.

Jackie: I'm driving Massimo absolutely crazy. I'm so nervous.

Stephanie: It'll be all right, Jackie.

Jackie: You think Brooke's going to go along with it?

Stephanie: Well, let's hope so. That's the whole reason we're here.

[ Jackie sighs ]

Jackie: Yes.

Oscar: Hey. Stephanie!

Stephanie: Oscar!

Jackie: Are you going to go down and get Bridget?

Oscar: She cancelled. She's got a this big exam to study for.

All: Ohh!

Massimo: Whoa! I'm sorry to hear that. I was hoping to have all of our lovely couples together.

Oscar: Well, we already had our party. It's Nick and Brooke's turn in the spotlight. Excuse me.

Eric: I was wondering if I might see you tonight.

Ridge: Actually, I was looking for mother.

Eric: She's not here.

Ridge: Lucky for her.

Eric: You're upset with her.

Ridge: She's encouraging Brooke to marry Nick. Of course I'm upset with her.

Eric: She thinks that Brooke needs to move on with her life.

Ridge: What else did she tell you?

Eric: Enough to worry me about this little party tonight.

Ridge: What party?

Eric: At the Marone castle. Massimo and Jackie are throwing a celebration for Brooke and Nick.

Ridge: I just called her. She didn't answer. I figured she was just sleeping.

Eric: Well, she should be sleeping.

Hudson: Massimo, Nick has arrived with Brooke.

James: Oh, good. I better go upstairs and I'll get ready. Excuse me, please.

Stephanie: I'll bring her up as soon as I can.

James: All right.

Massimo: Well, well, well -- the guests of honor are here.

Jackie: Darling, that is such a beautiful rose!

Brooke: Nick gave it to her.

Jackie: Would you like to put it in some water?

Rick: Here, I'll take her.

Nick: I'll get her. I got her.

Rick: Okay. You gonna be okay?

Massimo: Oh, she's gonna be fine. She's with family.

Nick: See ya in a bit. Come on!

Brooke: There you are.

Nick: Oh, hi. Hi. I hope you don't mind, I snuck the kid a cookie from the kitchen.

Brooke: Mmm. Well, she's not a big fan of pate and caviar.

Nick: Neither am I. How's the old man treating you?

Brooke: He's okay. He introduced me to a count.

Nick: Really?

Brooke: Yeah.

Nick: That woman over at the bar is a princess. Mm-hmm.

Brooke: I can't believe all these people are here for us.

Nick: They're not. They're here for the caviar and the pate.

[ Brooke laughs ]

Massimo: I think it's time.

Rick: Yeah.

Stephanie: Hello, miss cute heart with cookie all over her. I can see that someone is enjoying themselves.

Brooke: Hope is having a marvelous time, aren't you?

Stephanie: I was talking about you. Thank you for coming.

Brooke: Oh. Yeah, I just don't think we're gonna stay too long.

Stephanie: Oh, that's all right. May I borrow her for a moment?

Nick: Sure.

Brooke: Keep an eye on Hope, okay?

Nick: Yeah, yeah. You ready to get the party started. Want to? Huh?

Stephanie: When I bring her back, I promise you, she'll be all yours.

Nick: What do you want to do?

Ridge: Do you think mother's up to something?

Eric: Yes, I do. And I think Massimo's in on it, too. Why else would he have invited James Warwick?

Ridge: James is in town?

Eric: He and your mother just left for the party.

Ridge: Weren't you invited?

Eric: Yes, I was, but I declined. If this is another attempt to force Brooke to marry Nick, I want no part of it. And I can't believe your mother is putting Brooke in that position again.

Ridge: Brooke is actually convinced this pregnancy's brought the two of them together. I know it's hard to believe, but the other day, mother told Brooke she loves her.

Massimo: James, is all of this necessary?

James: Brooke has been under a tremendous amount of stress recently. It's imperative that this space be as peaceful as possible.

Massimo: So the possibility exists that this could all backfire?

James: My job is to make sure that it doesn'T. Your job is to be honest with her. You all have to tell her exactly how you feel.

Rick: What if she won't listen?

James: My understanding is that she already knows marrying nick is the right thing to do. Now she has to realize making that decision is all right.

Massimo: They're coming.

Brooke: I don't know why you had to bring me all the way up here. What could be so important? What's going on?

James: Brooke, there's no reason to be alarmed.

Brooke: James? What's this all about?

Massimo: We just want to talk to you, Brooke. There's something you need to hear. Hey, where does this go? It does both.

Princess: Hello, stranger.

Nick: Hi, there. How are you?

Princess: And who is this?

Nick: Well, this is Hope. This is Brooke's daughter. Hope, there's someone I want you to meet, someone very special. This is a real, live princess.

Princess: It's nice to meet you. If her mother is as charming as she is, you are very lucky man.

Nick: Yes, I am.

Eric: Your mother told Brooke she loves her?

Ridge: That's right.

Eric: Now, I know something's going on.

Ridge: Dad, Brooke really feels like she's earned mother's respect finally, but you don't seem to believe that.

Eric: No. Not that I don't think Brooke deserves it. I think she does. But, Ridge --

Ridge: What, it's easy to support someone when they're doing what you want?

Eric: Exactly. Getting Brooke Logan out of this family has been your mother's goal ever since Brooke came into our lives. And I hate to say it, but I think she's about to achieve it.

Stephanie: There's nothing to be afraid of, Brooke.

Brooke: So you brought me up here to gang up on me.

Rick: We brought you here because we care about you, mom.

Jackie: We just want what's best for you and your child.

Brooke: I think I know what's best for me and my child.

James: You don't need to get defensive, Brooke. We're all on your side.

Brooke: But how do you even know about this?

James: Massimo asked me to help.

Brooke: Well, I don't know what he told you, but this is my problem and I'm dealing with it.

Jackie: Brooke, you had a panic attack.

Brooke: Do you want me to have another one?

James: What you're going through would be difficult for anyone. But the stress you're feeling, it's not about the decision you have to make. It's rooted in your relationship with Ridge. It's called separation anxiety. You cannot imagine your life without him. And you're terrified to face the unknown.

Rick: But you don't have to face it alone, mom. We're here to help you.

Brooke: That's Nick's ring.

Stephanie: It's your ring. It's your ring. And after all these years, all the pain and all the suffering, this ring should symbolize a new beginning -- a new life. You have a baby coming. That baby needs to be with his father. And so do you. This is what's best for you, Brooke. If you've ever trusted me, trust me now. All you have to do is take it.
