[ Background noise ]

Nick: All right. Good afternoon. We got a little music for you today with your lunch. A very special song for a very special lady.

[ Applause ]

                        ******************************************************************************************

Hector: Isn't it a little early for lunch? I mean, I just had breakfast.

Amber: Ah, yeah, but coffee doesn't count.

Hector: Amber, you don't have to do this. You've already thanked me.

Amber: You saved my life. And when somebody saves someone's life, they deserve to get paid back, plus interest. Besides, I can't go apartment hunting on an empty stomach.

Hector: Hey, you can stay as long as you like.

Amber: Hector, you've got a houseful. You don't need a stranger getting in the way.

Hector: Having you around might help break the tension.

Amber: Wow. That fight with your daughter really shook you up, didn't it?

Hector: I'm worried about her. I mean, she's just so enthusiastic about everything in her life right now.

Amber: And that's a bad thing?

Hector: The world can be cruel.

Amber: You know what? No matter how good you think you've got it, it can all disappear in an instant.

Hector: It's just harder for people that have never had it.

Amber: I've been there, too. I mean, you wouldn't know by looking at me now, but, I mean, I grew up dirt poor. Not that I'm doing so great now, but -- you know, back then, it was just me and my mom in a two-room trailer.

Hector: Then you know.

Amber: Yeah. It's tough. But I pulled myself up.

Hector: Some people just don't care about that. All they care about is where you came from.

Amber: Well, I try not to associate with people like that.

Hector: I think my daughter is.

Amber: What are they like?

Hector: They're rich.

Amber: Now, I know some very nice rich people.

Hector: And I've known some that weren't.

                        *******************************************************************************************

Caitlin: I can't believe this. You told Samantha to give me an internship?

Samantha: No. He told me how much you want to design.

Caitlin: You haven't even seen my work.

Thomas: Trust me -- it'll blow you away.

Caitlin: Look, Samantha, I am honored. But you don't have to feel obligated to give me this job.

Samantha: I don't.

Caitlin: It was Thomas' idea to bring you a puppy. I just kind of came along for the ride.

Samantha: Caitlin, I wouldn't offer if I didn't really want you here.

Caitlin: You barely know me.

Thomas: Say yes and she'll get to know you better.

Caitlin: I want to. I do.

Thomas: Then what's stopping you?

Caitlin: I earned my internship at Forrester, Thomas. I applied, I wrote an essay, I sent in my transcripts.

Thomas: So I pulled a few strings. Big deal.

Caitlin: It is to me.

                        *************************************************************************************

Jackie: Oh, Hudson, is Massimo off his call?

Hudson: Yes-- unfortunately, he had to run back to the office.

Jackie: Well, we were right in the middle of a conversation.

Hudson: You were talking about Nick's surprise for Brooke.

Jackie: Oh, he told you.

Hudson: Yes, he was very excited about it.

Jackie: Well, we both are.

Hudson: Well, one can only hope that Brooke is equally moved by the gesture.

Jackie: How couldn't she be? I mean, when a man writes a song especially for you.

Hudson: That is exciting.

Jackie: Yeah. He's playing it for her, you know, today at Chuck's Bar.

Hudson: Not the most romantic spot for a love song.

Jackie: Oh, Hudson. If Nicky opens up his heart to Brooke today, it's not gonna matter where they are. She's not gonna be able to resist.

Hudson: This ordeal has taken quite a toll on you and your family.

Jackie: Yeah. But hopefully, we'll be reaching the end of it soon.

Hudson: I'll keep my fingers crossed for him. And for you.

Jackie: Me?

Hudson: I don't mean to overstep, but I've been concerned about you. You haven't seemed yourself lately.

Jackie: Well, we've all been under a lot of stress.

Hudson: You've been worried about your son.

Jackie: Yes, Hudson, I have. But hopefully, after today, I won't have to worry anymore.

                        *******************************************************************************************

Nick [singing]: I had a dream you were there for the taking what a dream it was love we were making I woke up I was lying all alone again like a ship that's lost in the ocean we've been lost in our own emotion gotta find a place we can call home again too many nights alone too many days gone by too many tears we cried we got to right the wrong time to bring it on la-da-da-da bring it on la-da-da-da all along I knew you were knowing everything I thought I was showin' wanna stop goin' round and round again I'm a man who knows what he's sayin' and I'm through with the games we've been playin' say goodbye or say hello to the way it's gonna be too many nights alone too many days gone by too many tears we cried we got to right the wrong time to bring it on la-da-da-da bring it on la-da-da-da bring it on la-da-da-da bring it on la-da-da-da remember all the feelings that we felt along the way there's a new beginning and it's startin' here today now bring it on c'mon bring it on too many nights alone too many days gone by too many tears we cried we got to get it on c'mon, we got to right the wrongs time to bring it on la-da-da-da bring it on la-da-da-da bring it on bring it on bring it on bring it on bring it on bring it on bring it on bring it on bring it on bring it on

[ Applause ]

                        ***************************************************************************************

Hector: Thank you. I've always encouraged Caitlin to be her own person, pursue her dreams. Now, but -- there's a boy.

[ Amber laughs ]

Amber: Of course there is.

Hector: He's never had to work for anything his entire life. Everything has always come so easily to him. I mean, how is he gonna react if things get difficult?

Amber: Hector, they're kids.

Hector: I know. I was a kid, too. Just as innocent and naive as my daughter. I got sucked into that world. And I didn't belong there. And they let me know it. I just don't want that to happen to her. I don't want Caitlin to get her heart broken.

                        *************************************************************************************

Caitlin: Thomas, I know that you're trying to help, and I really appreciate it. Samantha, I'm very grateful for the offer.

Samantha: You could start on a trial basis if that would make you feel more comfortable.

Caitlin: Well, what would I be doing? If I took the job?

Samantha: Well, the thing you did at Forrester. Odd jobs and inventory.

Caitlin: I could handle that.

Thomas: And so could your dad. Right?

Caitlin: I'll take it. I'll take the job. Thank you.

Samantha: You're welcome, sweetheart.

                        ********************************************************************************

Nick: What'd you think?

Brooke: I loved it.

Nick: You did?

Brooke: Yes, I did. So did this little guy.

Nick: Well, he's got music in his blood.

Brooke: He's either going to be a musician or a dancer.

Nick: Dancer? Why dancer?

Brooke: He's working on his new moves right now. No, seriously -- it was a beautiful song.

Nick: You inspired me, though.

Brooke: Thank you.

Nick: No, thank you. 'Cause I haven't written music for years, and now I'm writing a lot of it, and it feels right. This kid'll have a CD by his birthday.

Brooke: I don't know how you do it. You get me to come down here. And I was really kind of upset and frustrated. Then you sing me this song and --

[ Brooke sighs ] All of a sudden, everything feels okay.

Nick: Good. I'd sing for you every day if you'd let me. But -- no pressure. No pressure. I just wanted you to know how I felt.

Brooke: Bring it on?

Nick: Yes! I know we have no idea where this is headed, but there's one thing for sure -- it's going nowhere unless you decide to leave the dock.

Deacon: The ladies always go for the rock star.

Nick: I'm gonna go help load up here.

Brooke: Okay.

Nick: I promised these guys I'd take them out on the boat fishing if they helped me with the tune.

Brooke: Right now?

Nick: Yeah.

Brooke: Yeah?

Nick: Besides, you gotta get back to work. Make a little cash, put it in this kid's college fund. Thank you for coming.

Brooke: It was amazing.

Nick: So are you.

                        ***************************************************************************************

Deacon: Wow! That guy really digs you.

Brooke: Deacon, what do you want?

Deacon: It's kind of funny. 'Cause I was just about to ask you the same thing.

[ Brooke sighs ]

Brooke: Deacon, look, I'm sorry about what happened to your company, but I can't help you.

Deacon: That's 'cause you're busy juggling the brothers Marone.

Brooke: I'm not juggling --

[ Sighs ] I don't have to listen to this.

Deacon: Brooke, take it easy. For what it's worth, I think you oughta go for it.

Brooke: Go for what?

Deacon: Come on, this guy's obviously nuts about you. If you can still remember the signs.

Brooke: It's not that simple, Deacon.

Deacon: Ridge is a big boy -- he'll learn to live with it. Come on. This guy seems great! He wants to make a life with you. He wants to be a father to your kid. Brooke, don't deprive him of that. Since I have gotten little Eric back in my life, that is the only thing that has made this miserable year worth living for me. And knowing that I have him -- that I can see him -- it lets me know I can get through anything. I just wish I had that same relationship with Hope.

Brooke: Don't.

Deacon: But -- but if I can't raise her, I -- I think he'd be a real good father figure for her.

Brooke: You don't even know him.

Deacon: I can see the guy makes you happy.

Brooke: I'm leaving.

Deacon: Brooke, I saw the smile on your face. Come on, I never made you smile like that.

Brooke: The only thing that you and Nick have in common is that you were raised by your mothers.

Deacon: Trust me, Brooke. Jackie Marone's got nothing in common with my mother.

                        ***************************************************************************************

[ Phone rings ]

Jackie: I'll get it, Hudson. Hello?

Deacon: It's me.

Jackie: Deacon. You shouldn't be calling me here.

Deacon: Jackie, relax, all right? I know you've been feeling kind of guilty and -- I got something to tell you. Hello? She hung up on me. Great. If you won't talk to me on the phone, then we'll just do this in person.

                        ***************************************************************************************

Thomas: Look, Caitlin, if I came on too strong, I'm --

Caitlin: No. That was the sweetest thing anyone has ever done for me. It's just --

Thomas: What?

Caitlin: I don't know what to tell my dad.

Thomas: You're not working at Forrester anymore. Problem solved.

Caitlin: Maybe not. We got in a huge fight this morning, Thomas. I don't know if he's going to let me work anywhere.

Thomas: Caitlin, this is your dream. If you don't take this chance, you may always wonder, "what if?"

Caitlin: I don't want to lie to him again, Thomas. I can't.

Thomas: I know. But if he's really mad, there's no way he's gonna be down with this. Just -- give him a chance to cool off. Then you can discuss it.

Caitlin: He's gonna expect me to come home after school.

Thomas: He works 24-hour shifts, right?

Caitlin: Yeah. Sometimes two in a row.

Thomas: So while he's at the firehouse, you can do your internship.

Caitlin: I don't know. I mean, I really want to work here. I -- I think Samantha is so cool. And she could teach me so much --

Thomas: You're on a trial basis. Why not just see how things go before you stir up trouble?

Caitlin: I don't understand why my dad is being so stubborn about all this. He used to believe in me.

Thomas: I believe in you. That probably doesn't mean very much.

Caitlin: No, it -- it means more than you know.

                        *************************************************************************************

Amber: So, some rich girl broke your heart? Come on, I already figured it out. Just admit it.

Hector: You're right.

Amber: I knew it. Does Caitlin know?

Hector: No.

Amber: Why not? You know, maybe if she knew, she'd understand why you're coming down -- I mean, being so protective of her.

Hector: I thought I had something special with this girl. But it wasn't, not to her. And now, I hear my daughter saying the same things about this boy. I've tried to warn her, Amber. She won't listen.

Amber: Look, I've got some experience with the whole country club set. Do you want me to say something?

Hector: Would you?

Amber: Yeah. I mean -- I think it'd mean more coming from you, but, yeah, of course I would.

Hector: Thank you.

Amber: I just have one question. The girl who broke your heart. If it happened so long ago, why does it still bother you?

Hector: It doesn't. That part of my life is over. But I never want to see her for the rest of my life. You'll feel so confident underneath it all.
