Brooke: Deacon? You had something to tell us.

Ridge: What's this longshell of yours, huh?

Jackie: Brooke, you don't have any time for this. I mean, I'm sure that the --

Brooke: No, no, it's fine. Maintenance is taking care of that.

Brooke: So? What is it?

Jackie: You haven't heard? Deacon showed just part of his new collection to Eric Forrester today.

Ridge: That's your big news?

Brooke: You said it would change everything for us.

Jackie: Well, it could. You see, I've just come from Forrester and -- Deacon's a free agent now.

Brooke: Oh, okay, yeah, I get it. So, now you want to work here for me? Not in a million years.

Jackie: I guess you'd better consider your next best option. I should be going, too.

Brooke: You had something to tell me.

Jackie: It can wait. You've got other things on your mind.

                        *******************************************************************************

Eric: It's so nice to see you.

Priscilla: Thank you.

Stephanie: Priscilla, how wonderful to see you! It's been so long.

Priscilla: I'm sorry it couldn't be under better circumstances.

Stephanie: All that matters is that you are here.

Priscilla: Is Samantha here?

Eric: She's in the guest house.

Priscilla: I've been meaning to call you. Thank you so much for taking her in.

Stephanie: Oh, it's a pleasure having her here. Come on, sit down.

Priscilla: Thank you. I was shocked when she told me she was moving back to the old neighborhood. I didn't think she'd ever come back to L.A.

Stephanie: Really?

Priscilla: Mm-hmm. She was just a girl when we moved away.

Eric: Well, she's grown into a lovely young woman.

Priscilla: A young woman with a flair for drama. Making all this fuss over a dog. Honestly. What you must think.

Eric: Well, Pucci meant a lot to her.

Stephanie: Yeah, she's really devastated, Priscilla. Actually, you know, it was, her overreaction that, like, got us so concerned.

Priscilla: I can imagine.

                        ****************************************************************************************

Thomas: Hey. You made it.

Caitlin: Yeah, I got your text message. You're lucky I had the ringer turned off. My dad would've confiscated my phone.

Thomas: He's pretty ticked.

Caitlin: Yeah. He's been acting really weird lately, Thomas. Really stressed. I don't know. I've never seen him like this before.

                        *********************************************************************************

[ Buzzer sounds ]

Bridget: Yes?

Stephanie: Bridget, honey, could you bring Samantha and come up to the house for a minute, please?

Bridget: Right now? Um, Stephanie, I don't think she's up to it right now.

Stephanie: I understand. But there's someone here she's going to want to see. Please.

Priscilla: Now, I don't want you to worry another minute about this. You have been very kind to my daughter. But I'm here now. I'll handle this.

                        ********************************************************************************

Jackie: Deacon, I can't thank you enough for what you did.

Deacon: Jackie, I didn't do anything.

Jackie: Exactly. You could have turned my family upside down. But you didn't.

Deacon: It doesn't mean I still won't.

                        *********************************************************************************

Brooke: That was odd.

Ridge: Yeah. What do you think Jackie really wanted?

Brooke: I was talking about Deacon.

Ridge: Nothing that guy does anymore surprises me.

Brooke: The way he barged in here?

Ridge: You asked him if it was about business. He said "No."

Ridge: Well, he knew we'd throw him out.

Brooke: And him talking about the baby.

Ridge: It got our attention, didn't it?

Brooke: How does he even know about it?

Ridge: He works at Forrester.

Brooke: So, all of our problems are office gossip? Everybody talks about it?

Ridge: Everybody but us.

                        *************************************************************************************

Jackie: There's no need to threaten me, Deacon.

Deacon: Hey, Jackie, I just want you to know where I stand.

Jackie: Yeah, you want to help Brooke. Well, so do I.

Deacon: What -- by keeping this secret from her?

Jackie: By allowing her to get on with her life.

Deacon: Get on with her life without Ridge?

Jackie: He's not the father of her child. The lab ran the tests twice.

Deacon: It's kind of a funny thing about those lab results -- you know, they're a little bit, uh, inconclusive.

Jackie: Dr. Paxson was just covering her bases -- that's all.

Deacon: And now, you're going crazy trying to cover yours.

Jackie: Nicky loves Brooke. He's committed to raising his child -- with her.

Deacon: Well, it seems to me like you're doing just about everything you can to make sure that he has that chance. Cheers.

Jackie: Wouldn't you? I mean, wouldn't you? If your child was on the verge of getting everything that they had always wanted -- everything you'd wanted for them? Wouldn't you?

Deacon: No. What I would do is want my son to be part of a family with a wife that loves him. But, you know, that's just me -- I'm funny that way.

Jackie: Nicky and Brooke are starting to reconnect.

Deacon: Oh, right -- reconnect -- which would explain why I saw Brooke and Ridge stuck together like crazy glue.

Jackie: He's having trouble letting go.

Deacon: Yeah, obviously. But that doesn't really seem to concern you -- does it?

Jackie: Of course, I'm concerned. I care. He is my husband's child. I hate what this is doing to him. But it would be so wrong of us to give him false hope.

Deacon: So, you're not just doing this for Nicky. You want what's best for everyone.

Jackie: Yes, Deacon, I do. Even you.

Deacon: You know, I was right about you. You are good, Jackie. You're very good.

Jackie: Deacon, I'm a very influential woman. So, I could be a very valuable friend to you.

Deacon: If I keep my mouth shut.

Jackie: Well, let's just say the Marone family -- they place a very high price on discretion.

                        **********************************************************************************************

Eric: Samantha's going to be very surprised.

Priscilla: She doesn't know I'm coming?

Stephanie: No. She thinks you're the plane.

Priscilla: Perhaps I should go talk to her on my own.

Bridget: Sam, are you sure that you're okay with this?

Samantha: Yes, Stephanie wouldn't have asked me to come if she didn't think it was important.

Stephanie: Sam, sweetheart, your mother is here.

Samantha: Mother.

Priscilla: Hello, my darling.

Priscilla: Samantha, it is so good to see you.

Samantha: What are you doing here?

Priscilla: Stephanie called me.

Samantha: What happened to Hong Kong?

Priscilla: Hong Kong can wait. Let me look at you. You've changed your hair. Not to worry, it will grow.

Eric: Priscilla, you remember my daughter, Bridget?

Priscilla: You're all grown up, now.

Bridget: It's nice to see you again, Mrs. Kelly.

Priscilla: Please, call me Priscilla. I haven't been Mrs. Kelly for ages.

Stephanie: Why don't we go into the living room and sit down.

Priscilla: Thank you. It's no wonder you feel so comfortable here, Samantha. This old house hasn't changed a bit. Now, would you tell me, what's going on? Stephanie and Eric are very worried about you.

Bridget: You told her about Pucci, right?

Priscilla: Yes, I heard -- and I know how much you loved that dog. But he was very old. He had a long and happy life.

Samantha: She --

Priscilla: She must have been what -- 12, 15?

Samantha: You know how old she was, mother? You gave her to me.

Priscilla: It was her time, Samantha.

Samantha: Her time?

Priscilla: There's nothing you could have done for her.

Stephanie: Well, no, there wasn't. But I think Samantha understands that. I think the dog was more than just a little puppy to her. It was more like -- like her baby.

Stephanie: I'm sorry, Sam.

Priscilla: It's all right. I think we might just need a moment together.

Eric: Of course -- of course.

Stephanie: Priscilla, why don't you stay for dinner?

Priscilla: Oh, that would be lovely. Thank you very much. I'm sure the waterworks will be turned off by then. Won't they, darling?

                        ****************************************************************************************

Thomas: I still don't get it.

Caitlin: I know. Neither do I. I mean, my dad knows how much fashion means to me. But, he still doesn't want me working at Forrester.

Thomas: That doesn't make any sense.

Caitlin: I know. Tell me about it.

Thomas: It's gotta be personal.

Caitlin: Well, he says he barely knows your family.

Thomas: Stephanie recognized him.

Caitlin: He says that he used to play soccer against your dad in high school.

Thomas: Like a million years ago.

Caitlin: Yeah. That's not it.

Thomas: Don't worry. We'll figure it out.

Caitlin: Thomas, he might not let me come back to Forrester.

Thomas: But we can still see each other. We can still be friends.

Caitlin: Yeah. I'd like that. Okay, um, I'd better go. I'll get grounded forever if I get caught sneaking out of the house.

Thomas: All right.

                        **********************************************************************************************

Samantha: You shouldn't have come.

Priscilla: Stephanie told me you were in trouble. I couldn't exactly say no.

Samantha: Right. What would they think? Maybe the Kelly’s aren't as perfect as they pretend to be.

Priscilla: Don't be like that.

Samantha: Sad? God forbid anyone should see me without a smile on my face.

Priscilla: Is this the way you were acting in front of Stephanie? No wonder she was so concerned about you.

Samantha: Are you?

Priscilla: More than you know. I understand how much Pucci meant to you. I haven't forgotten.

Samantha: But you'd like to, wouldn't you?

Priscilla: How many times do we have to do this? Year after year -- always the same argument. Darling, you have to let it go. You have to get over it.

Samantha: I'm not going to get over it. I will never get over it, mother! And I don't want you to ever say that to me again!

                        ******************************************************************************

Brooke: Just the fourth floor? When will the building inspector get here? Okay, thanks. Well, it looks like there might be some structural damage to the third floor ceiling. And I won't know how bad it is, until the inspector checks it out.

Ridge: I'll stick around.

Brooke: Hmm. I think I'm going to send everybody home.

Ridge: Logan, you're not hanging around here by yourself.

Brooke: I can handle it.

Ridge: You're going to shut down over a busted pipe?

Brooke: Yes. I'm not going to put my people at risk. I have a responsibility here. I'm responsible for a lot more than that, aren't I? This baby, Nick --

Ridge: Logan, Logan, Logan, hey. I know I upset you earlier before Deacon barged in.

Brooke: Ridge, it's okay. It's not your fault. It's just hard.

Ridge: I don't want to make it any harder. For either of us. Really, I don't. I just can't stay away. I know I should. I've tried. But it just feels so damn wrong. As much as it hurts to be with you -- it's much worse being without you.

Brooke: I feel the same way.

Ridge: Well, then what are we doing? What are we doing? You said you -- you said you want to be able to cope. You said you want to be strong. But you just don't know what else to do. Hey, why don't we get away -- just the two of us -- and just have some time to ourselves, huh?

Brooke: Ridge, we can't do that. It's not going to help. I mean, we are always going to have your brother's baby coming between us. I'm not going to cross that line. It's killing me. But, I can't.

                        ****************************************************************************************

Deacon: Wow! You really do want to keep Brooke and Ridge apart, don't you?

Jackie: She's having a baby with my son.

Deacon: Whoa, whoa, whoa. That's only according to the paternity test.

Jackie: Which you could have thrown into doubt, but you didn't.

Deacon: Yeah, you know what, don't get too excited about that, all right? Brooke is in the middle of a crisis -- and it just didn't seem like the right time.

Jackie: There is never the right time -- to drop a bombshell like that on someone, especially on someone you claim to care about.

Deacon: You give me a couple of days, Jackie. I'm sure I'll figure out a way to break it to her -- gently.

Jackie: I thought we had an understanding.

Deacon: What we have is a secret. And it's one I'm not so sure I want to keep.

Jackie: You don't have to blackmail me. Blackmail?

Deacon: Jackie, that's such an ugly word. I'm offering you -- my assistance.

Deacon: You're going to have to forgive me if I seem a little skeptical. Let me hip you to the abc’s of me -- nobody has ever given me anything -- anything in this life -- without it coming with a price. Anything that's of real value -- well, that's got to be taken.

Jackie: I promise you -- you keep this secret for me, and you will be handsomely rewarded.

Deacon: That does seem like a pretty good deal for me. It's just not so good for Ridge and Brooke.

Jackie: Questioning the results now would just cause them pain. Believe me, Deacon. It's better for everyone, if this never comes out.

                        ************************************************************************************

Ridge: Goodbye, Logan.

Brooke: Good-bye.
