Brooke: Ridge -- Ridge.
Ridge: Brooke --
Ridge: You don't have to make this sacrifice for me.
Brooke: I have to do what's right.
Ridge: This is right, Brooke. This is right. This connection, right here, is right.
Brooke: We can't.
Ridge: Yes, we can. I know it's not gonna be easy, Brooke. Dealing with Nick, dealing with my family, but if we love each other --
Brooke: If we love each other, we won't do this again!
Ridge: Do what?
Brooke: What we always do. Give in to this passion. Do what feels good.
Ridge: You think that's why I'm here?
Brooke: I know you love me, and you want what we had.
Ridge: Don't you?
Brooke: More than anything in this world. But, Ridge, it's too late. Everything has changed.
Ridge: It doesn't have to Brooke. Look, forget about my family, forget about the tensions I have with nick. That's my problem. There's nothing you can do about that. Your going away, Brooke, didn't solve this. And your giving me up isn't going to solve it either.
Brooke: I won't make this worse.
Ridge: You can't make it worse, Brooke. I'm miserable without you. Being around my family is no consolation here. If that's the only reason we can't be together, I say bring on the feud. I wouldn't let my mother tear us apart, and I won't let my father tear us apart either.
Brooke: I'm not doing this for Massimo.
Ridge: I'm not gonna let you do this for me.
Brooke: Well, then please, Ridge, do it for me.
Nick: No, no, Samantha. It's not about what you can do for me, it is about what I can do for you.
Samantha: Nick, you said you needed my advice.
Nick: Yeah, exactly. Advice is what I need, and I'm willing to pay for it -- top dollar.
Samantha: You need a decorator?
Nick: I need a decorator, bad. Look at this place! I mean, my old man has such horrible taste. Don't you think it needs an overhaul?
Samantha: Is Massimo planning to sell?
Nick: No, no. There may be a new tenant soon, though.
Samantha: Oh. Who?
Nick: That's right. Gotta drop anchor somewhere, don't you?
Samantha: Nick, you're a sailor. You live on a boat. This is a penthouse.
Nick: Penthouse, that's what they call these things, huh? Supposed to be a nice one, isn't it?
Samantha: Oh, yeah, it's gorgeous. I just can't imagine you living in it.
Nick: Well, neither could I up until a few weeks ago, but I'm gonna be a father, you know. So, here I am.
Samantha: And this is where you want to settle down?
Nick: Well, yeah, at least until my boy finds his sea legs.
Massimo: Well, aren't you going to say anything?
Jackie: The key to my freedom. I'm speechless.
Massimo: You know I'm committed to you, Jacqueline. It shouldn't surprise you.
Jackie: No. It's -- it's just the way you expressed it --
Massimo: It's just another way of saying that I'm sorry.
Jackie: Me, too. And it was never, ever my intention to make you jealous.
Massimo: And I overreacted. I knew that you were getting a little lonely --
Jackie: You've been very, very busy, Massimo.
Massimo: Mm-hmm. And you resented that?
Jackie: No, I didn't resent it. You love your work. I knew that when I married you. It's just that it's taken us so long to be together, finally, to have this second chance. And I don't want to miss a second of it.
Massimo: Neither do I.
Jackie: I've been alone virtually my whole life. I don't want to be alone in my marriage.
Massimo: I've been missing you, too.
Jackie: Come here, darling. I'm right here.
Massimo: Well, thanks to Eric Forrester, I'm gonna make sure you stay here.
Jackie: Thanks to Eric Forrester?
Massimo: He came to visit me last night. And -- he made me rethink a lot of things. He made me realize that my jealousy could tear apart the things that I value most in life. My family, my marriage.
Jackie: Eric Forrester? He made you realize that?
Massimo: See, I have a rule at Marone industries. The value of an idea -- doesn't make any difference where it comes from. Whether it's the executive suite, or the mailroom. If someone gives you good advice, you take it. Even from the competition.
Jackie: Oh, Massimo. You don't have to compete for me. I'm your wife.
Massimo: I am so sorry that it's taken me so long to realize --
Jackie: And I certainly don't need an apology.
Massimo: Yes, you do. Eric's behavior was reprehensible, and so was mine.
Jackie: The battle's over?
Jackie: Oh, my. Oh, I can't tell you how proud and happy you've made me.
Massimo: Nothing, compared to what you've given me. Besides, we have more important things to concentrate on.
[ Jackie laughs ]
Massimo: The arrival of a new grandchild.
Jackie: Oh. Massimo? I know you've had reservations about that.
Massimo: Well, I think Brooke and Dominick are gonna work it out.
Jackie: He's very excited about it, you know?
Massimo: As he should be. Aside from his wife, nothing gives a man more joy than his children.
Jackie: And I want Nicky to experience that without any guilt, or any regret, because no matter how it happened, he's going to be a father.
Samantha: Well then, I guess congratulations are in order.
Nick: Why's that?
Samantha: Nick, you commandeered a jet, flew to France and brought Brooke home.
Nick: You're making me sound a little Errol Flynn-ish.
Samantha: Well, you have to admit, it is just a tiny bit gallant.
Nick: Well, she'd have come home on her own eventually.
Samantha: If you thought that, why'd you even bother to go?
Nick: She's the mother of my child.
Samantha: Oh, poor kid. He's not even born yet and already his daddy's getting overprotective.
Nick: Besides, nobody knew where she was.
Samantha: Mm-hmm. So, it was just really no big deal? Nick, you should look like you just won the America's cup. Come on, admit it, you're gonna be a dad. Aren't you just the tiniest bit excited?
Nick: Well, you know, Samantha, there's not a lot of uncharted territory for a guy like me.
Samantha: So this is a new adventure for you?
Nick: Yeah, I'd say that, yeah.
Samantha: And you want to launch it from here?
Nick: Look, come on, be honest. This place does need a little retrofitting. Look at that.
Samantha: Well, I'd start by padding all these sharp edges and --
Samantha: -- Getting rid of all these heavy knickknack.
Nick: Good. Good, that's what I need. Get rid of the knickknacks, get -- get rid of all of it. Get this -- get rid of all of this. And we'll make this whole room a -- a big playroom. We'll have wall-to-wall sailboats. What do you think?
Samantha: For him, or for you?
Nick: All right, well, I'll take care of the playroom, you -- you take care of the nursery. Deal?
Samantha: Nautical theme?
Nick: Keel to mast.
Samantha: Have you picked out a room?
Nick: Oh, the room, right. It's up here. At the end of this hallway. We're gonna make that the nursery, and we'll take the one next to it.
Samantha: We? Are you talking about Brooke?
Brooke: Ridge, whatever expectations we had --
Ridge: Brooke, we got married. We made a commitment.
Brooke: Yes, we did. But I thought you understood everything that I was telling you up in big bear before I left.
Ridge: I was hoping you would have come to your senses about all that.
Brooke: I have. For the first time since all this began, everything is becoming very clear.
Ridge: Well, then why are you fighting me on it then?
Brooke: It's not about us anymore.
Ridge: I also told you to just forget about the Marones.
Brooke: And what am I -- am I supposed to forget about hope and Thomas and the girls? Ridge, please, you have to understand, by disrupting the Forrester family, Rick and Bridget paid dearly for my mistakes. And I won't let that happen again.
Ridge: Brooke, we can be a family. We can all be a family. We can solve this together.
Brooke: Sit down. Ridge, I love you, and I love your children. And the place that you hold in my heart, my devotion to you, that will never change. But I have -- I spent the last month examining myself and my choices, and how they've affected me and the people that I care about.
Ridge: I don't want you blaming yourself here, because you're not at fault.
Brooke: Yes, I am. And at first, I felt very guilty, accepting all the pain that I caused everybody else. But the retreat helped me realize that if I made those choices, I could also not make them. And that's what I have to do now.
Ridge: For me and the kids? What about for you?
Brooke: I'm going to live my life and raise my children with pride and integrity.
Ridge: Brooke, we can do that together.
Brooke: No, Ridge. No, we can't.
Samantha: Are you saying that Brooke is going to be living here, too?
Nick: No, that's not what I was saying at all.
Samantha: No, I'm sorry. I just -- when you said --
Nick: Samantha, I want my son to have a real father. My mother raised me alone, she did a hell of a job, but I just don't want that for Brooke. You understand? I want to be there. I don't want to -- I want to help in anyway I can.
Samantha: So, you're volunteering for diaper changes and midnight feedings?
Nick: God, if my tanker crew could hear me now.
[ Samantha laughs ]
Samantha: I'm sure they'd be very happy for you.
Nick: Yeah. It's a gift, you know? It's a lot of responsibility and the gift -- I just want my son to be able to depend on me. Does that make sense?
Samantha: Yeah, it's of scary, though.
Nick: Yeah. Well, I've been scared before. Haven't you? It's important. That's all.
Samantha: You're gonna be great at it.
Nick: Thanks. Well, I plan on reading up on it. I'm sure there's some sort of a manual somewhere.
Samantha: I'm sure there is. But I don't think you're gonna need it. You're a natural.
Massimo: Oh, my goodness. Our son is going to have a son.
Jackie: Oh, we're going to be grandparents.
Massimo: Indeed. You say he's feeling more positive about it now?
Jackie: He is truly a different person. I mean, he's expressing himself. He's not running away from his emotions anymore.
Massimo: He chased Brooke halfway around the world.
Jackie: Yes, after she'd asked him not to.
Massimo: That took quite a risk.
Jackie: He thinks Brooke is worth it.
Massimo: And she wasn't upset with him?
Jackie: No. And I don't think that Ridge should be either.
Massimo: Yes, well, I'm sure that Ridge is just relieved that she's home.
Jackie: Relieved? I don't think relief is what ridge is feeling right now. I mean, he's suffered such an incredible loss, and I sympathize, I do, but there's a lot of good that's going to come out of this, darling -- for Brooke, for the child, for our family, and especially for our son.
Massimo: I think that Dominick was very courageous, doing what he did -- going after Brooke to protect his family. See now, that I respect.
Jackie: You still have reservations about their relationship. I can tell.
Massimo: Don't be so disappointed, because I have no reservations about our relationship. One step at a time, darling.
Jackie: Well, how about we take just a few of those steps right now? Up to the bedroom?
Jackie: Celebrate our new found commitment to one another.
Massimo: Mm, you are reading my mind. Mm.
Jackie: Okay, five minutes.
Massimo: Make it three.
Jackie: Mm-hmm. Massimo?
Jackie: What are you doing with my bank statement?
Massimo: I was going over the household expenses.
Jackie: No, this is my personal account.
Massimo: Mm-hmm. But when we married, we consolidated everything. And the bank sends me a comprehensive statement every month so that I can check for discrepancies. And by the way, now that you mention it, I did find one in your account.
Jackie: There are no discrepancies. I balance my checkbook.
Massimo: There is a statement there with a withdraw of $20,000. What did you do with it?
Jackie: It's a surprise.
Massimo: For whom?
Jackie: Do we have to talk about this now?
Massimo: Well, Jacqueline, don't tell me you withdrew $20,000 on an impulse.
Jackie: Yes, I did, actually. It's a gift for Nicky.
Massimo: The only gift that Dominick wants is Brooke.
Jackie: And he's going to get that too, darling, if we have our way.
Ridge: I want to make a life with you, Logan. We're still married. Why can't we just pick up where we left off?
Brooke: We could, but I won't. And if you really love me, you won't ask me to.
Ridge: Oh, Brooke, that makes no sense whatsoever.
Brooke: Ridge, look at me. I'm showing. Your brother's child is growing inside of me. I can't just pretend that doesn't matter, because it does.
Ridge: And I told you I can handle that. I really don't care, Brooke. I don't care!
Brooke: Yeah, well, I do.
Ridge: Are you afraid of what people might think?
Brooke: No. This isn't about other people. This is about me. What I'll feel about myself, if I give in to my desire for you.
Ridge: Then you do want me.
Brooke: Yes, of course I do. And everything you're feeling, I feel. Your longing, your loss, your frustration. Going to the retreat didn't take that away, it just helped me understand it.
Ridge: Well, help me understand it, then. If we want to be together, why are you doing this?
Brooke: Our dignity.
Ridge: Brooke -- are you afraid of some kind of scandal?
Brooke: Ridge, we're not going to compromise ourselves and our families and the life of this child. I've crossed that line before. It's not worth it.
Ridge: Yes. Yes, it is worth it, Brooke. And yes, you are worth it to me.
Brooke: Oh, Ridge, I do love you. And we were robbed of our greatest gift, our greatest blessing -- our baby. And the life that we had planned together, and it's sad and painful. But we have to just accept it.
Ridge: No, no.
Brooke: Please, Ridge.
Brooke: I am trying. I am trying to do what's right.
Ridge: You're asking --
Brooke: I am asking you to help me. Please, don't tempt me. Don't make this any harder. Please. We have to move on.
