Ridge: My wife is finally home. You expect me to just walk out of here without seeing her?
Jackie: It's for her own good.
Ridge: Jackie, you kept me from my wife before. Not this time!
Nick: You sure it's a good idea to see Forrester your first night back?
Brooke: If you're worried I'll let him talk me out of leaving him --
Nick: No, I just don't want him upsetting you. You seem to be in a good place. The last thing you want to do is lose the peace that you went away to find, right?
Brooke: Maybe I should just go to sleep. Everything looks so clear in the morning.
Nick: Well, if you don't want to be alone, I can spend the night on the couch downstairs. It's no problem.
Brooke: That's all right. I think I need some time alone.
Nick: Okay. Now, call me if you change your mind.
Brooke: Thank you.
Nick: Sleep tight.
Brooke: I will.
Nick: Brooke -- welcome home.
Ridge: I just want to see Brooke, make sure she's okay.
Jackie: That is not your responsibility anymore.
Ridge: Why don't we let Brooke decide that?
Jackie: She already has.
Ridge: Is that what she told you?
Ridge: Well, then how can you speak with so much authority then? Hmm?
Jackie: She walked away from you, Ridge.
Ridge: Well, since then, Jackie, she's had a lot of time to think about things.
Jackie: Isn't it obvious that she hasn't questioned her decision? Yes, she came home -- but not to you. Ridge, your marriage -- it's over and the sooner that you accept that, the better.
Ridge: Well, you'll have to forgive me, Jackie, if I don't take your word for it that my marriage is over.
Jackie: So you're going to put Brooke through all the pain of having to say good-bye again?
Ridge: Knowing Brooke the way I do -- I think she's up there right now as anxious to see me as I am to see her
Jackie: The Brooke you knew is gone, Ridge. She's pregnant with another man's child. And her responsibility is to that child, first and foremost, and if she's anxious to do anything, it's to take care of her son by getting the rest she needs.
Ridge: You're right, Jackie. I don't want to push Brooke. This can wait till tomorrow.
Jackie: I'm so glad you agree.
Ridge: Do me a favor, will you? Tell Brooke I stopped by.
Jackie: Don't give it another thought.
Brooke: Ridge. Hi, it's me. I'm home. I just got back today, and I was hoping you were there. I just really wanted to see you. I guess I'll catch you tomorrow. Sleep well. Good night.
Nick: You're still here?
Jackie: Yes. I just wanted to make sure that Brooke was settled in, that's all.
Nick: No, that's not why you're here. You wanted to know what went on up there, didn't you? And the answer's no, by the way.
Nick: No. Yes, no. I know it's a hard word for you to comprehend, but no, she didn't ask me to spend the rest of my life with her.
Jackie: All in good time.
Nick: Okay, Mother.
Jackie: It's going to happen, Nicky. At least, it will if I have anything to say about it.
Nick: What am I going to do with you?
Jackie: Um -- thank me at the wedding.
Nick: Let's just get out of here.
Jackie: What? You're not staying?
Jackie: But you --
Nick: What you just said, right, mother? Remember what you said? "All in good time." Come on.
Jackie: But --
Nick: Sometimes you don't hear yourself.
Jackie: But --
Nick: You just talk, talk, talk. I -- I -- you've accused me --
Jackie: Mission accomplished.
Massimo: Dominick brought Brooke home?
Jackie: Safe, sound and, are you ready for this? Showing. Massimo, did you hear what I said? Darling, you can tell Brooke is pregnant.
Massimo: That's wonderful.
Jackie: Oh, yes. Oh, you should have seen our son just doting over the mother of his child. Of course, he wouldn't admit it to me, but it was as clear as the nose on his face how happy he is.
Massimo: Good, good.
Jackie: Yes, yes, I think just with a little push in right direction, our son might be an old family man by, oh, this time next year. I mean, how could Brooke resist someone who is so devoted to her and her child? Especially once ridge realizes that his marriage is finally over, and he stops coming around like he did tonight. Oh.
Massimo: Ridge showed up?
Jackie: Undoubtedly wanting to talk Brooke into making another go of it. But don't worry, darling, I wouldn't let him anywhere near her.
Massimo: I don't know if Ridge is gonna be able to get through this.
Jackie: Well, I hope, for his sake, he does.
Massimo: Well, the anger that he feels for Dominick, I mean, it's just --
[ Massimo sighs ] I just hate what this has done to them.
Jackie: Well, we'll just have to keep encouraging patience and forgiveness.
Massimo: Well, that's a little hypocritical. Don't you agree? Considering what we've been up to lately?
Jackie: Yeah, well, we haven't been at our best, have we?
Massimo: All the accusations, the arguing, the lack of trust -- what kind of an example is that to set for our family? Well, I will not have it any longer. Which is why I have come to a decision.
Ridge: Looking for someone?
Brooke: You came.
Ridge: The moment I heard you were back. I had to slip past your sentry, though.
Brooke: My sentry?
Brooke: She's hoping that Nick and I --
Ridge: Yeah, I know. And what about you? What are you hoping for?
Brooke: I'm hoping that I make all the right choices.
Ridge: Did your time away help?
Brooke: It was more than I could ask for. The sisters were incredible.
Brooke: I went to a spiritual retreat in France.
Ridge: Sounds peaceful.
Brooke: It's amazing how clear things become when you get away from all the noise.
Ridge: No opinions coming at you from every direction?
Brooke: I just listened to god's voice.
Ridge: What did he say?
Brooke: Mostly that the world doesn't revolve around me.
Ridge: He said that, did he?
Brooke: And that I'd better look long and hard at where I'm going if I want to stop hurting the people that I love.
Ridge: Well, whatever it is you came away with -- it definitely had an influence on you. There's this -- there's this confidence, this calm about your face that I've never seen before. I've missed this face.
Brooke: I've missed you, too.
Ridge: I have thought about you day and night. Watching you walk out of that cabin that night, out of my life.
Brooke: It was the hardest thing I've ever had to do.
Ridge: When I put this ring on your finger, I really believed it would be forever. I still do.
Brooke: Is that why you brought it?
Ridge: That night, you made a decision to end our marriage, but I know a lot has happened since then.
Brooke: And you're wondering if while I was gone, I changed my mind.
Ridge: Have you?
Jackie: Massimo, if you're going to ask me to give up my job again --
Jackie: -- I can absolutely assure --
Massimo: Huh-uh. I'm the one who's going to give something up.
Massimo: You're right. I have been treating you like a bird in a cage. Expecting you to live your life only for me, watching your every move, taking away your spontaneity, your joy, your love for me.
Jackie: No, no, I never stopped loving you.
Massimo: But it could come to that. If I continue down this path. My God, Jacqueline, how is it that I even got here? A few months ago, I was the happiest man alive. And now my days are consumed with jealousy, doubting Our feelings for me, afraid of this thing with Eric Forrester.
Jackie: Massimo --
Massimo: I have never been ruled by fear. Never!
Jackie: But don't you remember, once, you told me that you felt you'd never had so much to lose before?
Massimo: I always thought I was a rich man, until you came into my life and showed me what true wealth is all about. Seeing your laughter, your beautiful smile, sharing stories together, old wounds, building a family. Those are the treasures that have eluded me. And the idea of waking up some morning and it all be gone --
Jackie: But you started to turn it into a self-fulfilling prophecy.
Massimo: 'Cause I was afraid that Eric was trying to take you away from me, never realizing that he could not end my marriage. Only I could do that. My God, what a fool I've been.
Jackie: Excuse me? Don't you ever talk about my husband that way.
Massimo: Your husband who has learned a lesson. So --
Jackie: A key?
Massimo: To that cage that you've been in. I hope you take flight and every day that you come home to the man who loves you.
Brooke: Ridge, you know how much I want a future with you. I spent hour after hour imagining ways to make that happen. And all I could see was you raising your brother's child.
Ridge: Which I can do.
Brooke: Ridge --
Ridge: So it might not be all nice and easy. There might be times where we're just gonna want to pack it in, Brooke. There might be times where we just wonder how we could have ever gotten through that. But that's the alternative? A life without you? I don't think that's God's plan for us.
Brooke: Maybe it is.
Ridge: Well, I won't accept that.
Brooke: The more you fight it --
Ridge: What, what? The more miserable I'll be? I can't get any lower than I am right now, Brooke. To almost have had it all, only to lose you. Don't throw that away. Don't turn your back on us.
Brooke: I have to.
Ridge: Brooke, we can beat this, together. The two of us, together we are -- we're stronger than anything anybody can throw at us.
Brooke: Ridge, please, don't make me shake my faith in the decision that I've made. For once, I am finally putting other people's needs in front of my own.
Ridge: In all the years I've known you, despite everything we've ever been through, despite how angry we might have gotten, we were always able to be intimate, and we were always able to find each other again. I feel like I took that connection away from us, Brooke. I feel like I left you all alone. Never again. Never again. You will always have a place to go to feel safe and loved.
Brooke: I gave up that right when I slept with Nick. When I conceived his baby.
Ridge: No. No. No, this is where you belong, Brooke. This is your home. In my arms, in my bed. And most of all, in my heart. Let me show you. Let me remind you what it's like when we're together. There's nothing we can't do. And there is nothing that we can't overcome. Let it happen, Logan. Let me love you.
Nick: Just know that I'm there for you.
I'm going back again
When it comes to loving Brooke, Nick just can't let go.
