Bridget: Knock, knock.

Ridge: Hey, Bridget.

Bridget: Am I interrupting anything?

Ridge: Just my constant state of anxiety. Come on in. You must be psychic. I was just thinking about calling you.

Bridget: It doesn't take a psychic to realize you could use someone to talk to.

Ridge: I'm just kinda going a little out of my mind here, waiting for some kind of word from Brooke. Have you heard from her?

Bridget: No, I'm sorry. She hasn't e-mailed me in days. Look, I know Nick went after her. How are you handling that?

Ridge: Oh, extremely well, thank you.

Bridget: Well, I imagine now that you've had time to digest things, you have many conflicting emotions.

Ridge: I have only one feeling, Bridget -- a strong, unwavering devotion for your mother. No matter how much it hurts that she ended our marriage, and that she's having a child by Nick, I still feel that I have to trust my heart.

Bridget: Well, nothing is gonna erase the extraordinary history and the bond that you two share.

Ridge: She's a part of who I am. She always will be. God, I'm dying to see her. I'm dying hear from her!

Bridget: And knowing that Nick is the one out there going after her, that can't make it easier on you.

Ridge: Makes me sick to my stomach. Regardless, I pray to hear from her soon. Something, anything.

                        *******************************************************************************

Nick: Would you let me grab those keys? Open up for ya.

Brooke: Oh, gosh. Okay.

Nick: Let you get settled in here. I'll be out of your hair.

Brooke: I am a little jet-lagged. Oh, it's so good to be home.

Nick: I'll bet.

Jackie: Bonjour, mes etres. Welcome home.

Nick: How did you get in here?

Jackie: Oh, Nicky, I'm more resourceful than you think. Darling, you must be exhausted. But don't you worry about a thing, though. I've taken care of everything.

Nick: What exactly have you "taken care of"?

Jackie: Ah, let's see -- well, I've made sure the house was clean from top to bottom and had the refrigerator fully stocked.

Brooke: Oh, you shouldn't have.

Jackie: Please, it's the least I can do. I am so ecstatic that you are finally home. But what else can I do around here?

Nick: No, Mom. I think you've gone above and beyond. Thank you.

Brooke: Oh, yeah. I wouldn't want you to go out of your way.

Jackie: Oh, Brooke. You're showing with my Grandson.

Brooke: Oh, yes. I think I better take Hope upstairs.

Jackie: Oh, good idea. She's going to sleep like a little angel tonight. Bye-bye, darling.

Brooke: Let's go. Off to bed.

Nick: You're about as subtle as the "Titanic" hitting the iceberg.

                        ****************************************************************************

Thorne: What the heck are you doing?

Thomas: Um -- I figure it's just a matter of time before I'm growing a moustache.

Thorne: No.

Thomas: Or goatee?

Thorne: No.

Thomas: Come on, man. Have you checked out this five o'clock shadow?

Thorne: There -- got it.

Thomas: What?

Thorne: Your "shadow." Ink.

Thomas: I thought facial hair might make me look older.

Thorne: Yeah? Why do you want to look older? A girl. Of course.

Thomas: Yeah, not just any girl. This one's -- this one's something else.

Thorne: Yeah? Did you meet her at school?

Thomas: No, she's an intern here at Forrester.

Thorne: An older girl?

Thomas: Yeah, it's trendy for girls to date younger guys these days. And this intern definitely has her eye on this spring chicken. Heh-heh, that's right.

                        ******************************************************************************

Eric: Caitlin.

Caitlin: I hope I'm not intruding. I was hoping we could finish our interview.

Eric: Oh, well, as much as I'd like to, I can't right now. I really don't have time. My -- my muse is calling.

Caitlin: Well, maybe some other time.

Eric: You've been sketching.

Caitlin: I'm always doodling something.

Eric: Let me see.

Caitlin: It's not really at the presentation stage yet, so --

Eric: I'll be the judge of that. Let me see. This is -- this is my design.

Caitlin: Yes.

Eric: And you've altered it. Do you not like my work?

Caitlin: I think your designs are exquisite. That's why I wanted this internship so badly. I was just trying to learn from your designs, like a case study. Honestly.

Eric: Breathe, Caitlin, breathe. It's all right, I'm not offended at all. In fact, I like what you've done here.

Caitlin: Really?

Eric: Yes, really.

Caitlin: Well, you know, I'm still not happy with this line that I was trying to get here. I can never get the charcoal quite right.

Eric: Charcoal's hard. I had a difficult time with it myself at first. It makes it hard to be precise, doesn't it?

Caitlin: That's exactly the problem I'm having. How do you do it?

Eric: I'll show you. Here. Don't push down so hard.

Caitlin: Wow, that's really good.

[ Eric sighs ]

Eric: Something's missing.

Caitlin: What? I've never seen such fluid lines. Not even in my textbooks.

Eric: Fluid? Try flat. Flat! That's how everything seems to me these days, is flat.

Caitlin: Well, you'd never know it. Judging by your latest collection, I'd say you're at the top of your game.

Eric: Yeah, well, it's lonely at the top. Ooh! That's an expression I've always hated. "It's lonely at the top." But it's true.

Caitlin: Lonely? But you have so many admirers, and such an amazing family.

Eric: No, it's not like the old days. We were -- we were a team then. I had both of my sons by my side, an incredible --

Caitlin: An incredible what?

Eric: Partner, I was going to say, partner. Stephanie -- my wife. She was an inspiration to me. Maybe more than I realized.

                        **************************************************************************

Bridget: I am so happy to hear you talk like this. Because I know that my Mom feels the same way.

Ridge: Well, she has a funny way of showing it.

Bridget: Look, no matter what else happens, you will always be the one for my Mom. I mean, all she's ever wanted is to be with you. Letting you go has been the hardest thing she's ever done.

Ridge: Being separated from her -- feels so wrong.

Bridget: Look, I can usually find the silver lining in any situation, but I consider this a tragedy. I mean, especially considering all that you two have been through together. My Mom wants you in her life. She needs you in her life.

Ridge: Well, I want her, too, and need her. I don't -- I don't think I've ever loved her more.

Bridget: I'm really glad that you didn't succumb to Stephanie's plan the other night. I mean, Samantha's gorgeous. I'm sure she was very tempting.

Ridge: Samantha is a very beautiful woman, but my heart belongs to your Mother. I think even if Brooke and I were sentenced to a life of torment and frustration, I can't see myself loving another woman -- ever.

                        **********************************************************************

Jackie: I've been likened to many things in my life, but never the "Titanic."

Nick: Why don't you pull a few of your sails in, Mother? We just got home. Let the woman breathe, would you?

Jackie: Breathe, breathe, who could breathe? I am so excited! I mean, Nicky, she came home with you. It means she's ready to be a family.

Nick: Whoa, whoa, whoa. Wait, hold it. Now, I have no expectations when it comes to Brooke. I've offered only one thing -- and that's my help, if she need it.

Jackie: Well, good. That's very, very, good. But you should be a family. You've got a child on the way, for heaven's sake.

Nick: I haven't forgotten, Mother.

Jackie: Well, sometimes I wonder. You can't stand idly by, Nicky, and just hope that everything is going to fall into place.

Nick: I really do hope that one day you come out of your shell, Mother, and form an opinion about something.

Jackie: I'm serious. You have to make things happen in life. Make them! I mean, don't you want to be with this woman?

                        **********************************************************************

Caitlin: I've heard about Stephanie. Didn't she start Forrester Creations with you? Because she sounds extraordinary.

Eric: She is. She still works around here in -- in an advisory capacity. I'm surprised you haven't run into her.

Caitlin: No, not yet. But I have met another member of your family.

Eric: Thorne, yeah. He always takes an active interest in the internship program.

Caitlin: Actually, I was referring to Thomas.

Eric: Thomas? Uh-huh. Doesn't surprise me at all. He probably went way out of his way run into you.

Caitlin: He's a great kid.

Eric: Yeah, he is. He's got a good head on his shoulders. If he was a little older, I'd try to set the two of you up.

Caitlin: That's sweet, but, to be honest, I don't think things would work out between us.

Eric: No?

Caitlin: Please don't tell him I said that. It's just -- right now my career means more than anything to me.

Eric: Not to worry. What's said in this office, stays in this office.

                        ***********************************************************************

Thorne: You're looking pretty confident there.

Thomas: Oh, yeah. She's a smitten kitten.

Thorne: Wait, are you talking about the new intern, Caitlin? That's the girl who's got a crush on you?

Thomas: Yeah.

Thorne: She's cute. Way to go, stud.

                        **************************************************************************

Bridget: If it makes you feel any better, I can't picture anyone else with my Mom, either.

Ridge: Well, tell that to Nick. I swear, his Mother's already planning their wedding. She's so excited.

Bridget: Look, Jackie has good intentions.

Ridge: I'm not so sure about that.

[ Phone ringing ] Hello, Ridge Forrester. When did they land? Have they gone back to her house? Okay, great. Thanks for the heads up.

Bridget: That look can only mean one thing.

Ridge: Brooke's back. She should be home by now.

Bridget: Oh, thank goodness.

Ridge: I'm heading over there. I'm going to see her for myself.

                        *************************************************************************

Nick: What I want is what's best for Brooke. Now, if that's the two of us together, Mother, it will happen when it is supposed to happen.

Jackie: Her judgment -- it's just -- it's clouded by uncertainty right now, darling. She needs you to help her see where her happiness lies, and it's with you.

Nick: Who are we kidding, mother, really? Her heart is still very much with Forrester.

Jackie: Then what are you waiting for? For him to swing in and sweep her off her feet again?

Nick: This is neither the time, nor the place, for this conversation.

Jackie: Because he will, you know. He will. You have got to make Brooke forget about Ridge. You have got to be the one that sweeps her into your arms, before it's too late.

Nick: Don't you think I want that, Mother? Don't you think I want her in my arms?

Jackie: Then why haven't you?

Nick: Not until she's ready. It has to be her choice.

Jackie: Her choice? She has made her choice. She came back with you, Nicky. Doesn't that tell you everything you need to know?

Nick: You're reading too much into this.

Jackie: I am not. I'm just calling it as I see it. I don't understand why you are so keen on standing idly by in the sidelines, when you could be starting the rest of your life today with Brooke.

Nick: Because that's how it has to be. These things take time, Mother, a lot of time. What's your hurry with this, anyway?

Jackie: Because I spent virtually my entire life alone. I watched you, my little boy, grow up into a man without a real father. And, honey, I just do not want that for you. I --

Nick: I'm just afraid if I push too hard, she may shut me out.

Jackie: Or are you really afraid that she just might let you in? Nicky, go up there. Claim your happiness. Be a part of your child's life from the beginning.

                        **************************************************************************

Thorne: So, fill me in on the details. Where'd you guys go on your first date?

Thomas: We haven't quite gotten there yet.

Thorne: Okay. But she has flirted with you, right?

Thomas: Not exactly.

Thorne: You have talked to her, though?

Thomas: Yes. Wanna know what she told me?

Thorne: What's that?

Thomas: I come from a good family, and it shows.

Thorne: Wow. Sounds like she has it bad.

Thomas: Okay, so we're not exactly hooking up yet. But we're getting there. Did I mention she's got legs that won't quit?

[ Thorne laughs ]

Thorne: Word from the wise -- stay away from those kind, okay? They'll eat you alive.

Thomas: Caitlin's not like that. She's down-to-earth, more ambitious than anyone I know. From what she said, Caitlin couldn't be any happier than she is working here at Forrester.

Eric: Your parents must be very proud of your dedication. Where did all this interest in fashion come from? From your Mother?

Caitlin: Um -- actually, my Mother died when I just was a baby.

Eric: Caitlin, I'm sorry.

Caitlin: It was a long time ago.

Eric: Well, then your Father must be doubly proud of all your accomplishments. I'd like to meet him sometime.

Caitlin: No. It's just that -- my Dad, he doesn't know that I'm interning here. He wouldn't like it.

Eric: Why not?

Caitlin: He wants me to have a serious future. And as far as he's concerned, fashion, all of this, its just frivolity.

Eric: Well, as the father of three daughters, I can understand. When they were your age, I would have been just as happy if they had never left the house.

Caitlin: That's pretty much my Dad. I wasn't even allowed to go to the prom. It's okay. As long as I can just bury myself in my work, I'm fine. It's what keeps me going.

Eric: I'm exactly the same way. But don't be so hard on your Father, okay? He's just trying to protect you from life's harsher realities. I'm sure he has his reasons.

                        ************************************************************************

[ Knock at door ]

Nick: Hi. I thought you might want to unpack.

Brooke: Thank you. You've been an unbelievable help.

Nick: Listen, I'm sorry about my Mom coming on so strong like that. I guess she's just excited about having a Grandchild.

Brooke: It's fine.

Nick: You okay?

Brooke: I always did wear my heart on my sleeve. The truth is, now that I'm home, all I can think about is Ridge. I want to see him so bad, it hurts.

Ridge: Brooke? Brooke?!

Jackie: Ridge.

Ridge: Jackie. What are you doing here?

[ Jackie scoffs ]

Jackie: I have more right to be here than you do.

Ridge: I want to see Brooke.

Jackie: Really? Didn't we have this conversation the other day? She's not your wife anymore, Ridge. Let her get on with her life.

Ridge: That is for Brooke to decide, not you.

Jackie: She's already decided it.

Ridge: In that case, I strongly suggest you get out of my way.

Jackie: Stop, Ridge. You leave them alone.
