Bridget: Nick went after mom?

Ridge: He thinks she's in Europe.

Bridget: Who told him that?

Ridge: He probably traced her call.

Bridget: She called him?

Ridge: Bridget, she called both of us. She made it very clear she did not want to be found.

Bridget: So, he went anyway. And you didn't go with him?

Ridge: I have responsibilities here, kiddo. I have my kids. I have these companies to run.

Bridget: Well, I think mom would appreciate that.

Ridge: Yeah, well, hopefully a lot more than having captain courageous show up on her doorstep.

Bridget: So, I'm a little relieved. I mean, she hasn't sent me an e-mail in awhile. She's not responding to mine. I'd like to know she's okay.

Ridge: So would I. So would I. I just don't want to hear from Nick.

                        *************************************************************************

Nick: I do hope I find you, Brooke.

Pilot: Captain Payne. I just received a radio message from the Paris office. They're e-mailing you an update on Mrs. Forrester's whereabouts.

Nick: They found her?

Pilot: There's been some activity on her credit card. It should be coming through now.

Nick: She rented a car. One-way. Brought back and charged in -- Marseilles. Other charges -- Sacred Heart Retreat Center? Sacred Heart Retreat -- that's what the chanting was.

Pilot: Sir?

Nick: Call the terminal. I need a car, now.

Pilot: Yes, sir.

                        ************************************************************************

Caitlin: Are you sure I'm not bothering you? I mean, I just have so many questions.

Eric: No, they've all very insightful. Go ahead.

Caitlin: This is something that I've wanted my whole life. To be able to do what you do. There's just so much that I want to know. Like how did you get your start?

Eric: Well, first I learned how to draw. And then I learned to sew.

Caitlin: So, you made your own designs yourself?

Eric: Yes, I did. On an old sewing machine I bought at a yard sale.

Caitlin: Any formal training?

Eric: Well, I think you should study whatever interests you and then you need to get a business degree.

Caitlin: Study everything?

Eric: Literature -- philosophy -- art. Anything that inspires you.

Caitlin: What inspired these designs? I mean, these are beautiful. And unusual. I mean, they're more like figure studies.

Eric: Well, I do that sometimes. When I'm looking for inspiration. I try to design a gown that captures the essence of the woman who I'm making the dress.

Caitlin: So, this is someone you know?

Eric: A friend of mine.

Caitlin: She's beautiful.

Eric: Yes, she is.

                        ***********************************************************************

Massimo: Eric Forrester is a menace.

Hudson: The situation hasn't improved.

Massimo: Oh, Jacqueline and I have come to an understanding. And I cannot question her devotion to me.

Hudson: But that's not the problem?

Massimo: He's drawing pictures of her now.

Hudson: She's posing for him?

Massimo: No, no, no, no. It's all in his head. He's fantasizing about her, Hudson. I mean, he is incorporating my wife in his pathetic daydreams.

Hudson: Then you're going ahead with your plan to elicit information from Oscar.

Massimo: No.

Hudson: No?

Massimo: No, it's -- it's just not worth it. Eric has caused enough discord in my family. Now, if I involve Oscar, it's only going to make it worse.

Hudson: You don't want to jeopardize Oscar's relationship with Bridget?

Massimo: That's exactly what I was thinking.

Hudson: That's a relief. They make a wonderful couple. I'd hate to see anything tear them apart.

Massimo: Jacqueline assures me that Eric is not a threat to our marriage.

Hudson: You believe her?

Massimo: Yes.

Hudson: Well, if you're not willing to risk Oscar's relationship, why risk your own?

Massimo: Well, that's exactly what I was thinking.

Hudson: So that's the end of it?

Massimo: No, not quite. I have someone bringing something over. Because it seems that Eric did have something to hide after all.

                        ********************************************************************

Deacon: I'll tell you something he isn't hiding. His feelings for your wife.

Massimo: Ah, Deacon. Hudson, I want you to meet Deacon Sharpe. Deacon, I want you to meet my assistant, Hudson.

Deacon: How you doing? This is the stuff we discussed.

Massimo: It's okay. He knows everything.

Deacon: Okay, so we're clear about this little "project." I wanna keep my participation on the down-low, all right?

Massimo: What about the sketches?

Deacon: I figured it was probably not a good idea to bring those. You know, with your blood pressure and everything.

Hudson: But you did find something?

Deacon: Oh, I found something. There's a lot more where that came from, too.

Massimo: Well, I certainly hope so. Because this is useless.

                        *************************************************************************

Eric: This beading all needs to be done by hand. Thousands of stitches -- hundreds of beads. Each one unique unto itself -- like snowflakes.

Caitlin: Or raindrops. It kinda reminds me of a waterfall.

Eric: Exactly what I thought.

Jackie: Eric?

Eric: Jackie, come in.

Jackie: Thanks. I have got some really good news. I talked to Massimo --

Eric: Caitlin and I were just finishing up an interview.

Jackie: Oh, I'm sorry. You're busy.

Caitlin: Oh, no, no. It's fine. I'll leave.

Eric: No, it's okay, Caitlin. Jackie, Caitlin is our new intern.

Caitlin: Hi.

Eric: Jackie Payne is the west coast buyer for Fenmore's Department stores.

Jackie: It's Jackie Marone now.

Caitlin: Well, it's nice to meet you. I'll just leave you two alone.

Jackie: No, don't go, please. I don't want to interrupt. This'll only take a moment.

                        ***********************************************************************

Bridget: Well, do you think Nick's going to find her?

Ridge: He is very determined.

Bridget: Ridge, I know how much you miss her.

Ridge: I was worried, Bridget, then I heard her voice on the phone and it really got to me. She sounded so far away. I just want to see her. I want to hold her in my arms. I want to know that everything's okay. But is that what she wants?

Bridget: Well, she said she needs to be alone. Look, it's not just away from you, Ridge. It's from everyone.

Ridge: I know, I know, I know.

Bridget: And like you said, she's probably not gonna be that thrilled if nick does track her down.

Ridge: He doesn't care.

Bridget: He's thinking about the child.

Ridge: His child.

Bridget: Ridge --

Ridge: Look, I just have to keep saying it, all right? I have to keep reminding myself, that's all.

Bridget: Why?

Ridge: Because as hard as this is to believe, Bridget, it's the truth and I have to accept it. Somehow, I have to accept it.

Bridget: But that doesn't mean you have to torture yourself.

Ridge: I'm just trying to be objective, that's all.

Bridget: You're in pain.

Ridge: So is your mother. So is your mother and I just can't seem to do anything about that.

Bridget: Is there anything that I can do for you, ridge?

Ridge: No, but thank you.

Bridget: I just hate seeing you this sad.

Ridge: I'll be all right. I'll be all right.

Bridget: I hope so. I mean, you and mom were finally happy. She was pregnant, it should have been perfect.

Ridge: It almost was.

Bridget: I just hope you won't give up on love.

Ridge: I won't. I also won't ever give up on Brooke.

                        ******************************************************************************************

Nick: What are you doing, Brooke? Better yet, what am I doing? I know what I'm doing -- I'm trying to find the mother of my child and bring them both back home. That's what I'm doing.

Nick: There it is. Sacred Heart Retreat Center, 30 kilometers. Oh, Brooke, I hope you're there.

                        *************************************************************************

Massimo: This is absolutely worthless.

Deacon: What the hell are you talking about?

Massimo: Deacon, you promised me a smoking gun.

Deacon: Ah, Massimo, you didn't even read the damn thing.

Hudson: May I?

Deacon: Look, I'm not exactly a tax attorney, but it seems to me, this guy's probably ripping off the IRS. That would be big, right?

Hudson: Where'd you see that?

Deacon: It's on one of these pages. Right at the top, his income. Where is it? What's he doing? Stuffing it under the mattress?

Massimo: That is his salary.

Deacon: What are you talking about? Look, I happen to know for a fact, Forrester Creations is rakin' in the dough.

Hudson: I assume the corporate taxes are filed separately.

Deacon: Yeah, but wait a second, wait, wait. Eric Forrester is Forrester Creations. Where are the profits?

Massimo: On another piece of paper. Where they belong.

Hudson: This looks perfectly legitimate to me.

Massimo: Well, of course it does. That's Eric's talent. He wouldn't allow such an obvious blunder. You better take that back before he realizes that it's missing.

Deacon: I'll find you somethin' else.

Massimo: Don't bother.

Deacon: Now, Massimo, you and I, we had an understanding.

Massimo: You wanted to help, now I no longer need that help.

Deacon: Yeah, well, you know what Massimo? None of that changes the fact that this guy's after your wife.

Massimo: He's wasting his time. Jacqueline and I have had this conversation, and believe me, it is a waste of time.

Deacon: You don't get it, do you? This guy is not gonna give up, okay. He wants her. If you let your guard down he's gonna get her. He's gonna turn Jackie against you the same damn way he turned Bridget against me.

                        ***************************************************************************

Eric: Jackie, if you'd like to talk in private, of course we can.

Jackie: No, no. I can't stay. I just wanted to let you know you're not going to be getting a new Fenmore's rep.

Eric: You're not leaving?

Jackie: No, I'm not.

Eric: You talked to Massimo.

Jackie: He wants me to be happy.

Eric: And -- are you?

Jackie: Yes.

Eric: Good. It would have been a shame to lose you. Let's have lunch then. I can bring you up to speed on the new collection.

Jackie: No, thank you, but I'll call and I'll schedule a meeting with Megan.

Eric: And Massimo would be happy with that?

Jackie: I'll talk to you next week. Caitlin, very nice to meet you.

Caitlin: You, too.

Jackie: Bye.

                        *************************************************************************

Bridget: So you're really not giving up on mom?

Ridge: The last time I saw your mother, she said we'd eventually find our way back to each other.

Bridget: You believe that?

Ridge: I have to, Bridget. That's the only way I can face all this.

Bridget: You just said you have to let go.

Ridge: I have to let her go. I have to let her get on with her life.

Bridget: And you have to get on with yours.

Ridge: I will, it's just that my -- my love for her is not gonna change.

Bridget: But carrying a torch for a woman whose carrying your brother's child.

Ridge: Somehow, someday, we're gonna be together again.

Bridget: Yes, but until then she could be raising this baby with nick.

Ridge: If that's how she decides she wants to handle this --

Bridget: Look, she wants this child to grow up in a stable family. If you and Nick are warring --

Ridge: Bridget, I could have followed Nick to Europe. I could have traced that call, too, but I didn't do that. Because Brooke asked to be left alone, that's why.

Bridget: That couldn't have been easy for you.

Ridge: No, it wasn't. You know what, it also wasn't easy for your mother to end our marriage, thinking that's what I needed.

Bridget: You're doing what's best for each other.

Ridge: Yeah, that's what love is.

Bridget: Yeah, and what's nick doing?

Ridge: Nick's doing what he thinks is best.

Bridget: Yes, he is, but for whom?

Ridge: I guess that depends -- it depends if Brooke is ready to come home.

                        ***************************************************************************

[ Chanting ]

Nick: This has to be the place. Um -- excuse me. Pardon me? I'm looking for a friend. Parlez vous anglais? I'm looking for a friend. I believe she's staying here. Her name's Brooke Forrester. I need to know if she's here.

                        ******************************************************************************

Caitlin: So, that was your friend from the sketch.

Eric: Yes.

Caitlin: She's a buyer for Fenmore's. That sounds exciting.

Eric: I could ask her to discuss it with you, if you'd be interested.

Caitlin: Well, I'd be fascinated, but -- I've already imposed too much.

Eric: No, I'm sure she'd be happy to do it.

Caitlin: She seems very nice.

Eric: Yeah, she is.

Caitlin: Well, thank you for the interview, Mr. Forrester.

Eric: You're welcome.

                        ***************************************************************************

Bridget: Can I ask you a question?

Ridge: Sure.

Bridget: Do you want Nick to bring mom home?

Ridge: I want that to be her decision.

Bridget: So if nick can convince her to come --

Ridge: Look, I couldn't convince you mother to stay here, so Nick's not gonna be able to make her come home.

Bridget: Yeah, but not for him. For the baby.

Ridge: She might.

Bridget: And then?

Ridge: It's not my call.

Bridget: If it was?

Ridge: If it was, Brooke and I'd be out shopping for baby clothes right now.

Bridget: You really wanted this child to be yours.

Ridge: Bridget, I was so excited. After everything your mother and I had been through over the years, we were finally having a child of our own -- my namesake. I can't tell you how excited we were to finally feel like our lives made sense, to have each other, a future, everything we'd ever dreamed of. Now all that's gone. Here I am, at a loss. While my damn brother, nick, is out there playing the hero.

                        *************************************************************************

Madelaine: I'm sorry, we can't give out information about our visitors.

Nick: Sister, please, please. Just -- you speak English.

Madelaine: The sisters of the retreat speak many languages. We cater to an international clientele, men and women.

Nick: What about children? Babies? My friend's traveling with her daughter.

Madelaine: I'm sorry. As I said --

Nick: Her name's Brooke Forrester. I know I'm in the right place. I have her credit card receipts. She checked in a few days ago. I need to know if she's still here.

Madelaine: If your friend was in the center -- and I can't confirm that -- she came here seeking contemplation and peace. A respite from the pressures of her ordinary life.

Nick: She's pregnant. I'm the father. She's pregnant with my child. She told you, didn't she? She's here.

Madelaine: She may not be ready to see you.

Nick: Sister, please. Please, I -- I just need to know if she's okay.

Madelaine: Brooke and her daughter are in very good hands.

Nick: Well, I need to see that for myself. Remember, she's the mother of my child. Now, I won't do anything to upset her in any way. I just want her to know that I'm here for her and the baby. Please. Just let me see her.
