Oscar: Mm, wow. This is almost enough to make me a morning person.
Jackie: Well, I hope your accommodations are equally as satisfying. Thank you, Claudette.
Oscar: Staying in a place like this, you'll be lucky if you ever get rid of me.
Jackie: We're thrilled to have you, Oscar. Really.
Massimo: That's what family is for, Oscar. Now if we could only Dominick to put some roots down here, we can have these little gatherings all the time.
Jackie: What's the matter, darling? I haven't seen you play with your food since fourth grade.
Nick: Forrester and I heard from Brooke.
Jackie: Brooke called you? Is she all right?
Nick: She made it very clear she doesn't want anyone to know where she is.
Jackie: Well, she probably just needs a little more time, that's all.
Nick: I don't know how much longer I can wait. Anyway, I don't want to talk about this. We should be talking about Oscar's party.
Jackie: Hmm! Oscar and Bridget's engagement party. Yes. You must be so excited.
Oscar: Yeah -- yeah I am. I mean, Eric and Stephanie -- they've really gone above and beyond with this party, with their support, you know. Especially Eric.
Massimo: I thought this was supposed to be a Marone family breakfast, huh? Does Eric Forrester have to spoil this, too?
[ Silverware clanking ]
Amber: You know, if you don't like the cargo pants you should've just said something.
Deacon: Last night didn't go as well as I'd hoped.
Amber: Yeah, that's a shocker.
Deacon: It started out great. Bridget showed up all decked out. I think she looked more beautiful than I've ever seen her.
Amber: Well, that's because she thought she was meeting Ozzy.
Deacon: I showed her my big surprise. I got out of the wheelchair and I walked. Oh, yeah, I even danced -- sorta. Kinda just held her and we rocked back and forth. But for those couple of minutes that I had her in my arms, it was like all this crap with Ozzy, all the pain, just kinda disappeared, you know?
Amber: Wait, wait, wait. Wait, rewind. You walked? And you danced, and you held each other? I mean, that's so awesome.
Deacon: Doesn't make a damn bit of difference. She wants nothing to do with me. Nothing.
Bridget: Judging by your expression, this is gonna be the best Forrester collection yet.
Eric: I can't remember when I felt this deeply about something.
Bridget: Same here. Daddy, um -- I wanted to thank you so much for throwing this engagement party for me and Ozzy. Helping us bring the two families together, it means the world to us.
Eric: Yeah, it looks like you feel really good. It looks like you're in a really good place right now.
Bridget: Everyone should be so lucky. I -- I had dinner with Deacon last night.
Eric: What? Bridget, what -- what would possess you to do something like that?
Bridget: I -- I got an invitation to the private dining room, dad. And I -- it wasn't -- it wasn't signed, so just assumed it was from Ozzy.
Eric: Well, it sounds exactly like a stunt deacon would pull. I knew it was just a matter of time before he got back up to his old -- his old tricks.
Bridget: No, dad, you don't understand. The evening was unbelievable.
Eric: Bridget, you cannot possibly have feelings for this man, after everything he's done to you.
Bridget: No, dad, it's not that. He walked. Deacon actually stood up and walked. I mean, it was so incredible. I have never seen a patient recover from this kind of invasive surgery so quickly. And he said he did it all for me. And then I walked out on him. I told him there would never be anything between us again. Hurting him like that -- it broke my heart.
Eric: Oh, honey. One of the many things I love about you is your unwavering ability to see the best in people. It's what makes you so special. But it also makes you very, very vulnerable. Bridget, don't. Don't get sucked in by his obvious attempts to win your affections back. All right? He's trouble. He always will be.
Bridget: At least you're keeping an open mind.
Eric: Yeah. Honey, you and Oscar have such a wonderful future ahead of you. That's what we should be focusing on.
Bridget: I know, I know.
Eric: And giving you the best possible party the world has ever seen. Come here.
Amber: So Bridget left you high and dry, huh? That's surprising, you know, since she already promised to spend the rest of her life with another man. Look, Deacon, bottom line is, you could walk on water and it still wouldn't bring Bridget back into your life. Not with your track record.
Deacon: You know -- do you know how frustrating this is for me? I busted my ass to change who I am. You know, I'm a different guy now. No one sees it.
Amber: Yeah, you know what? It doesn't matter. Because even if she loves you as much as you say she does, she'll never admit it as long as Eric forbids her to.
Deacon: Well, then I suppose I probably ought to speak to Eric.
Amber: Whoa, no, no. No, no, do not go rocking the boat here. Deacon, Deacon -- we got a great setup here at Forrester, okay? It would be so stupid to just blow it all for something that's never gonna happen.
Deacon: You know, amber, there's some things that are more important than business. You should think about that.
[ Amber sighs ]
Oscar: You know, I don't really understand what your problem is with Eric. I mean, what's not to like about him? Besides, Mrs. M -- I mean, the two of you are friends, right?
Nick: Well, look at the time. Got to excuse myself. I have back-to-back meetings this morning. Thanks a lot for breakfast. Oz, I'm sure you have a busy day, don't ya?
Oscar: Yeah, yeah, right. Back-to-back meetings.
Jackie: Lovely of you both for coming. Thank you. So much for our hospitality.
[ Massimo sighs ]
Deacon: Eric, here, you got to take a look at Amber's new sketch. It's fantastic. You know, I think between Forrester creations and Sharpe designs, we'll have a lock on the industry.
Eric: Listen, Deacon, before we say anything else, I want you to understand something. The only reason you're even in this building is because of Bridget. If it wasn't for her, you wouldn't even be here.
Deacon: I know that. Kinda hoping I can change that.
[ Eric sighs ]
Eric: I heard about your antics in the private dining room last night. You put on quite a show for my daughter, didn't you?
Deacon: I wanted to share my progress with her.
Eric: Well, congratulations on that.
Eric: But don't you think it's gonna change the way my daughter feels about you, because it's not. I'm making it my number one priority that she never forgets the hell that you put her through.
Deacon: You know, Eric, I can understand why you feel like that. I really can. But you're a pretty bright guy, and I think you understand how the world works. You understand that things are not always black and white. People do change. I've changed.
Jackie: Massimo, what's the matter?
Massimo: Nothing. I'm dealing with it.
Jackie: What are you dealing with? Oh, Massimo, don't shut me out. Please, tell me what's bothering you.
Massimo: All right. Where were you last night?
Massimo: You said that you were going shopping. Where did you go after you finished shopping?
Jackie: I eventually came back here. You know that.
Massimo: You're positive that you haven't neglected to tell me something? Because I'm positive that your coat reeked of sea air last night.
Jackie: "Sea air"?
Massimo: I asked you if you were gonna go see Dominick on his boat, you said that you hadn't. So there's only one explanation. That you went to see him, didn't you? You went to see Forrester at his beach house.
Jackie: Yes, I did.
Massimo: It makes me sick to see you with him.
Jackie: You make it sound so tawdry. You know, all we did was talk. That's all we did.
Massimo: "That's all"? You agreed not to see Eric. Not only did you go see him, but you lied about it.
Jackie: You're absolutely right. I should have told you. I should have told you. But it is unfair of you to ask me to forsake my friendship with Eric. We work together. We were friends before you and I were married.
Massimo: How many times do I have to tell you, Jacqueline? He is not your friend. He has feelings for you.
Jackie: But I'm your wife, Massimo. I'm your wife. You got to understand that I had a career and friends of my own before I married you. And you're asking me not to pursue them. In fact, you're telling that I've got to give them up. And you're trying to keep me in this house under lock and key. In fact, you're making me feel like that. You're making me feel like my portrait, like I'm just one of your possessions. I can't allow it.
Bridget: Can you believe this engagement party tonight? Everybody coming together to celebrate us.
Oscar: Yeah, I know. I just hope the only fireworks going off are up in the sky, you know?
Bridget: What do you mean?
Oscar: I just got the feeling at breakfast this morning that Mo's not a big fan of your dad's, that's for sure.
Bridget: Oh, well, they've always been competitive. It's this whole ridge situation, you know?
Oscar: It wasn't Ridge. It's more about Jackie. It just seemed like he was a little jealous of Eric's relationship with her.
Bridget: What? No, come on, that's ridiculous. Massimo has nothing to worry about. Dad would never do anything illicit. He's way too honorable for that.
Oscar: Even with an incredible woman like Jackie?
Eric: You know, Deacon, you could change into mother Teresa right here, and it wouldn't erase the pain and suffering that you've caused my daughter.
Deacon: You know, all I'm asking for is a chance, Eric, from you and from Bridget. I get how much she respects your opinion. So whether you like it or not, I intend on trying to get you to respect me.
Eric: You're wasting your time.
Deacon: Maybe. You know, it occurs to me there is -- there is one thing that you and I do have in common.
Eric: Well, this should be good.
Deacon: We both do love your daughter. I'd do anything for her. Anything.
Eric: Then stay away from her.
Jackie: Massimo -- Massimo, you have no reason to feel threatened.
Massimo: I have never been in a vulnerable position before. I never allowed myself to be. Now, in just one year, I have opened up my heart to Ridge, Dominick and, more than anyone, you. Business is not my problem. Hell, I could lose my entire fortune and I'd claw my way right back to the top. But I don't think I could survive if I lost your love.
Jackie: Darling, you will never, ever have to face that. I plan on us growing really, really old together.
Massimo: It's just that I cannot abide his behavior. The way he flirts with you. I mean, it is just disrespectful to you, to me, our marriage. And I will not accept it.
Jackie: That is just how Eric interacts with everyone, Massimo. I mean, really, he's just being a friend. In fact, you know what I think he's doing? He is trying to charm me into buying the entire Forrester collection.
Massimo: You know, Eric may be your friend, but he wants more than that. I mean, look at you, Jacqueline. You're one of the most beautiful, intelligent women I've ever known. And if you can't tell by now, I adore you. Can you blame me for wanting to keep you here to myself? And you -- for goodness sake. You've got yachts. You've got this beautiful house, jets.
Jackie: Yes. What more could a woman need?
Massimo: I know, but -- these feelings are consuming me. I don't know. Maybe it's jealousy. Perhaps its even insecurity. Well, it's hard to tell since I've never experienced it before. But I certainly am not going to live with it now. I even got to thinking I was gonna do something about it.
Jackie: Totally unnecessary.
Massimo: I care for you more than anything in this world and, Jacqueline, sometimes I try too hard to hold onto you. It's because I -- I love you so darn much.
Jackie: Oh, Massimo, I love you every bit as much. And if it'll make you happier, I will resign my post as Fenmore's rep for Forrester creations.
Massimo: Are you sure?
Jackie: If it will make you happy, I will. Because your happiness -- it means everything to me.
[ Massimo sighs ]
Massimo: You make me very happy. Thank you, Jacqueline.
Jackie: Well, at least we've got the air cleared. Now we can just go to Oscar and Bridget's engagement party with nothing, nothing between us.
Massimo: Nothing but love, that is.
Bridget: Jackie and my dad have been friends for a while. I'm sure it's nothing more than that.
Oscar: Okay. I mean, you're right. Your dad doesn't strike me as the kinda guy who would chase after married women. Besides, I'm sure he's got plenty of hot, single babes just coming by his love shack.
[ Oscar laughs ]
Bridget: Okay, never use my dad and "love shack" in the same sentence again, please. Ever.
[ Both laugh ] Seriously. Ozzy, you should've heard him tonight. He was going on about our engagement and the party. He really likes you, honey.
Oscar: Is that so hard to believe?
Bridget: Well, let me put this in perspective for you. Out of the handful of guys I've dated, dad has liked exactly zero of them, until now. You're winning him over.
Oscar: Yeah, well, believe you me, that's no easy feat with you Foresters.
Bridget: Oh, yeah, like your family's such a pushover, huh? Tonight, the Foresters and the Marones come together as one. The best engagement present of all.
Eric: I told you, we are finished here.
Massimo: Oh, you and I have only just begun.
Eric: What'd you do? Steamroll over Megan the way you do all the women in your life?
Massimo: I talked to Jacqueline. She told me how she visited you at the beach house last night. Oh, yes, that's right. There are no secrets between my wife and me.
Eric: Well, good for you.
Massimo: See, my wife thinks that you are her friend. I know better. You want a lot more than friendship from my wife.
Eric: You don't trust her to make that judgment call?
Massimo: Oh, no. I trust her wholeheartedly. It's you I don't trust. Now, we are going to go to the engagement party for Bridget and Oscar. Consider yourself warned, Eric. Stay away from my wife, or suffer the consequences.
