Ridge: Brooke, you still there? Talk to us, Logan. Tell us where you are.

Nick: We're a little concerned about you.

Brooke: Don't be. I'm where I need to be right now.

Ridge: What does that mean, you're where you need to be?

Nick: Brooke, please, let us come get you.

Brooke: No. I am finding peace for the first time in so long.

Nick: Well, that's -- that's good. I don't really know what the hell's going on here, but don't forget that you're alone and you're pregnant.

Brooke: Don't worry, everything's fine. The baby and I are fine and so is Hope. She's being well taken care of.

Ridge: Taken care of by whom? Where the devil are you, Logan?

Brooke: I'm home.

Deacon: God, could I be any more pathetic?

Bridget: Hey, look, you just tried to do too much. That's why your legs gave out. Deacon, listen to me. You have made incredible progress, and you're gonna keep making incredible progress, because you're a fighter and you won't accept anything less. But you're wrong about one thing. Everything you've accomplished, everything you've achieved, it's not because of me. It was your strength and determination that got you here. And that's why I am so proud of you. Of the man you've become. You're gonna find it. You're gonna find love, and you're gonna have a wonderful life. It's just not gonna be with me.

[ Opera music playing ]

Massimo: Where is she? I know where she'd better not be.

Eric: Jackie? Don't go.

Jackie: Oh. I didn't -- I didn't think you saw me.

Eric: Are you wishing I hadn't?

Jackie: Well, no. No. It's just, now I'm here --

Eric: You're thinking maybe you shouldn't be?

Jackie: Oh, please, don't get the wrong idea, Eric.

Eric: No. You need a friend. Nothing more.

Jackie: I would never cheat on my husband, you know.

Eric: But --

Jackie: But I can't have him dictating to me. Who I can and I cannot see. I just can't live like that and if Massimo thinks I will, he -- he's mistaken.

Massimo: Oh, it's you.

Oscar: Boy. I just moved in, and I've already worn out my welcome?

Massimo: Nonsense, nonsense. Oscar, my boy, I can't tell you how happy I am that you are here. After all, that's what families for. It's just --

Oscar: You thought I was your wife.

Massimo: Yes. Look, how about joining me for a Cognac?

Oscar: Okay. Great. I still can't get over it.

Massimo: What?

Oscar: You know, just me, Ozzy Marone, living here in the lap of luxury. You really came through for me.

Massimo: As you will come through for me, Oscar. Salute.

Deacon: I know you care about me. I know you do. You've shown me in so many ways.

Bridget: Of course I care about you. And I wanted to help you get better. But now that you have, we have to go on with our separate lives. Deacon, come on. You've got to know it wouldn't have worked out for us. Not after everything you put me through. I mean, I've forgiven you. I have. But I can't forget. And neither can my family, especially my father. So you have to give this up. Because as much as you might want us to be together, it is not gonna happen. Now, or ever. I should go.

Deacon: Please don't go. Please come back. Please just come back.

Eric: Jackie, Massimo wants to control you the way he controls everything else in his life. That's who he is.

Jackie: But what about who I am? The woman that I was before I became Mrs. Massimo Marone?

Eric: You still want to be that independent woman. I get that. I understand that perfectly.

Jackie: I knew you would. That's exactly why I value my friendship so much. Oh, Eric, I don't want to hurt Massimo, I don't, but I don't want to lose your friendship, either, it's --

Eric: You won't. You never could.

Jackie: It's getting ever so late. I -- I should go.

Eric: Jackie -- take care.

Massimo: Oscar, I know that you're anxious to prove your worthiness of the Marone ring, but as long as you're living under my roof and you are willing to avail yourself of my so-called guidance, I have no doubt you will succeed.

Oscar: Thank you. Your faith in me means a lot.

Massimo: And it's well placed, believe me.

Oscar: So -- uh, where is Mrs. M tonight?

Massimo: I don't know, actually.

Oscar: What, are you worried about her?

Massimo: She's my wife, I adore her, how could I not worry?

Oscar: Okay, listen, I gotta go get ready to see Bridget, but let me just leave you with this -- Jackie is a smart lady, okay? She can handle herself in any situation. And besides, anyone who would mess around with Massimo Marone's wife would be makin' a big mistake.

Massimo: Sure would. And he'd live to regret it.

Nick: "Home? Are you here in L.A.? What do you mean by "home"?

Brooke: I'm far away.

Ridge: Tell us where, Logan. Where are you?

Brooke: I can't.

Nick: Well, why can't you? It doesn't make sense.

Brooke: It does, when you've caused the kind of pain that I have.

Ridge: Oh, Brooke, come on.

Brooke: Ridge, it's true. All I ever wanted to do was bring happiness into your lives. Instead, look what I've done. I've hurt the people that I love.

Ridge: Brooke, you're hurting us more by staying away.

Brooke: No. You and Nick are family. I've just been a source of conflict in your lives. And I can't do that anymore. I don't wanna be that person.

Ridge: Now you really got me worried. Why are you talking this way?

Brooke: I'll talk to you again soon.

Nick: Brooke, Brooke, please, don't hang up --

[ Dial tone ]

Massimo: Ah, you're home.

[ Jackie gasps ]

Jackie: Oh, Massimo. Hello, darling. Gosh, you scared me.

Massimo: You're late. Where've you been?

Jackie: I was with Nicky.

Massimo: On his boat?

Jackie: No, I was showing him your penthouse. He was a little reticent about putting a sailor up so high in the sky, but just he saw how wonderful it could be for Brooke and the baby, we decided on a room --

Massimo: Where'd you go after that?

Jackie: Shopping. I went shopping. And I did grab an early dinner, so I'm fine, and, actually, I am exhausted, so, if you don't mind, I think I'm just going to go to bed.

Massimo: Actually, I would mind. I would mind very much.

[ Knock on door ]

Oscar: Hola, beautiful. Hey, come on, it's your fiancÚ. You gonna have me waitin' out here all night? Bridget, what's wrong? Hey, hey, hey, hey, hey. Talk to me, why are you so upset? Who sent this?

Bridget: Deacon. Actually, I thought it was you, so I went --

Oscar: Okay.

Bridget: Wait, what are you doing?

Oscar: Look, I don't care if the guy's in a wheelchair, I'm gonna go find him, have a little friendly conversation, explain to him once and for all that you love me, not him, all right?

Bridget: No, no, you don't have to do that. I was very blunt with him. He has no choice not to accept the way things are. Just, I don't know if I can ever forgive myself for hurting him like I did.

Oscar: I'm sorry.

Nick: Well, what do you make of that?

Ridge: I don't know. I don't know what to make of it.

Nick: She said she was fine, but what if there's more to it than that? Wait a minute, Forrester, we got the call recorded. Let's play it back and see if there's anything that can give us a clue as to where she is.

Ridge: That's not likely.

Nick: Well, it's worth a shot. Unless you've got a better suggestion.

[ Chanting music ]

Brooke: I'll talk to you again soon.

Nick: Did you hear those sounds in the background?

Ridge: Yeah. Sounded like chanting.

Nick: Let's listen again.

Ridge: Or we could just take Brooke at her word.

Nick: You're not concerned at all?

Ridge: Of course I'm concerned, Nick. I miss my wife. I hate like hell not knowing where she is. But, on the other hand, she did get in touch. By e-mail, and now by phone. She did assure Bridget and us that she was fine.

Nick: What if she's not fine?

Ridge: Look, Brooke said she'd be in touch soon, okay? Until then, as much as we may not like it, I think we have to respect her wishes and just wait.

Oscar: So, Deacon thought if he showed you he could walk again, it'd win you back, huh?

Bridget: God, Ozzy, seeing the pain in his eyes --

Oscar: Yeah. Well, I know you. You probably let him down as gently as you could. But you know what? He's gonna -- he's gonna get over this. He's not gonna find another you, 'cause there is no one like you. But he's gonna find somebody. I know he'll move on, he'll be happy again. You'll see.

Bridget: I am so lucky to have you.

Jackie: You object to my turning in early?

Massimo: I thought we could have a little drink, continue our conversation --

Jackie: Oh. There's nothing I'd like better. I just don't feel up to it, darling.

Massimo: You're that tired?

Jackie: Mm-hmm. A hot bath is what I need, and then straight to bed. Are you coming up soon?

Massimo: Oh, yes. I've got something to take care of.

Jackie: Okay.

Massimo: Jacqueline?

Jackie: Mm-hmm?

Massimo: Aren't you gonna give me a kiss good night?

Jackie: 'Night.

Massimo: It's sea air, all right. You weren't on Dominick's boat. And yet, your coat reeks of sea air. You were at Eric's beach house. Damn. What the hell is his hold on you? I will crush you Eric Forrester! I will crush you!
