Ridge: Our family, our business -- this was supposed to be our future, Logan. Now it's gone. You're gone.

                        ****************************************************************************

Eric: She did it? She actually left Ridge?

Stephanie: I don't know where she got the strength, but she did it. Eventually, Ridge will understand why.

Eric: There has to of been some other solution. They love each other. They've always loved each other. And to throw it away now, after everything they've been through, it's just so -- it's just so sad.

Stephanie: Yes, it is.

Eric: How's Ridge feeling?

Stephanie: Shell shocked, and I think he'll probably be that way for quite a while.

Eric: Do you know where he is? I should go see him.

Stephanie: I don't, but I think he wants to be alone for a while.

                        ************************************************************************

Massimo: I'm sorry I'm late, sweetheart.

Jackie: Oh, it's okay.

Massimo: So, where's Dominick?

Jackie: He's tracking down his brother.

Massimo: He's looking for Ridge?

Jackie: Brooke ended her marriage last night, Massimo.

Massimo: My god. She did it.

Jackie: Yeah. And Nicky had a feeling that she had something planned when she asked Ridge to go to the cabin.

Massimo: Where's Ridge now?

Jackie: I don't know.

Massimo: Oh. What about Brooke?

Jackie: Brooke has left town with Hope.

Massimo: For good?

Jackie: For good? Well, I hope not. She's carrying our grandson. I would like a chance to get to know him and so would Nick.

Massimo: Well, I hope that's not why he's searching for him.

Jackie: He's worried about him.

Massimo: Jacqueline, Ridge will not want his consolation. Dominick would be the last person on earth that he would want to see now.

                        ******************************************************************

Nick: Hey, Forrester.

                        *******************************************************************

Eric: Ridge is gonna need his family now.

Stephanie: Well, we'll be there for him and for her.

Eric: You meant it, didn't you, when you said you were proud of her?

Stephanie: It's a courageous thing she did for him.

Eric: He could've loved that little boy.

Stephanie: Yes, of course he could have, Eric. But at what price?

Eric: So Brooke left him in order to avoid him having to pay that price?

Stephanie: It isn't what she wanted to do. It was a selfless decision, probably the only one she's ever made in her life.

Eric: Ridge has to of tried to talk her out of it.

Stephanie: Oh, of course he tried.

Eric: You didn't think she'd go through with it.

Stephanie: I wasn't sure. But, you know, I think she's changed. Somehow, she seems more mature. I'm very proud to call her my daughter-in-law.

Eric: That's pretty easy for you to say now.

Stephanie: No, it isn't. It's heartbreaking.

Eric: My god. You're actually sad to see her go.

Stephanie: In my life, did I ever think I would feel that way? Oh, god. But by walking away from that marriage, she proved to me that she's just the kind of woman that he deserves.

                        ***************************************************************************

Jackie: Brooke made her decision out of love.

Massimo: She walked out on her husband.

Jackie: Well, yes, but only to free Ridge and the child from this scandal.

Massimo: I know, I know, believe me, I -- I'm glad, believe me.

Jackie: This bodes very well for our family.

Massimo: Once the dust settles, let me tell you something, I think Brooke had the right idea -- leaving, getting away, giving Ridge a moment to digest what's happened, and Dominick needs to do the same thing.

Jackie: So do we. Massimo, our lives, I mean, it's been so stressful since the wedding.

Massimo: Yeah.

Jackie: I was thinking that maybe we could just, I don't know, just take a little time for ourselves, you know?

Massimo: Maybe I can stretch a long weekend, but I have to tell you, sweetheart, my calendar is booked until spring.

Jackie: Spring? Well, I was actually thinking of something just a little bit more spontaneous.

Massimo: Mm-hmm.

Jackie: Take the afternoon off. We'll go for a walk on the beach.

Massimo: God, there's nothing I would rather do than that, but I can't.

Jackie: It's just an hour or two, Massimo.

Massimo: I have got too much work to do, believe me.

Jackie: Work, right, it's always work with you.

Massimo: Work, yes, I know. But look, I wouldn't have the success I had if I was sitting on my hands, now would I?

Jackie: No. But you are a success. In fact, you're one of the most successful men in the whole world. Why don't you enjoy it?

Massimo: Another time, okay? Speaking of which --

Jackie: No, you're not leaving.

Massimo: I have a meeting that will not wait.

Jackie: And what am I supposed to do?

Massimo: I'll tell you what you should do? You should take your own advice. You go home. You enjoy yourself. Go shopping. At least someone will enjoy the fruits of my labor. Ciao, sweetheart.

Jackie: What about Nicky?

Massimo: If I see him, I'll tell him to stay away from Ridge.

[ Jackie sighs ]

                        ***************************************************************************

Nick: Brooke's secretary told me you were in the building.

Ridge: If you're looking for Brooke, she's not here.

Nick: I know. I'm sorry.

Ridge: No, you're not. But you're gonna be if you don't get the hell out of here right now.

Nick: Does anybody else know you're here?

Ridge: Why? You don't think I should be alone?

Nick: Not really, no.

Ridge: Well, I've got you to thank for that, don't I, Nick? What? Nothing to say?

Nick: I made a mistake.

Ridge: You're damn right you did. You cost me my marriage. You cost me the woman that I love. One night -- one stupid, senseless, thoughtless act, and you turned my life upside down, nick.

Nick: I know.

Ridge: No, you don't. You can't possibly imagine what you've done. Last night, my life slipped through my fingers like dust. I had it, Nick. I had the life I wanted. I had the family I wanted with Brooke. I had it right here, and now it's gone, because of you. You stole it from me.

Nick: I didn't want this to happen.

Ridge: Yes, you did. Don't lie to me. It's gone. Brooke's gone, Nick. You can finally be honest here. You're the dad, and you couldn't be more thrilled about it. Well, somebody get proud papa a big fat cigar, huh?

Nick: Forrester, I --

Ridge: You were talking about your son, your duty. Well, you know what, Nick? Brooke wanted that baby to be mine. We would have raised it together. So you know what? Congratulations, Nick. You ruined my life.

                        ********************************************************************

Sally: Hello, Stephanie. I was looking for Eric. Is he around?

Stephanie: I think he's in the cutting room.

Sally: Ah. You okay? You seem to be a little stressed out. You two kids haven't been fighting, have you?

Stephanie: No. No, no.

Sally: Well, that's a relief, because things are stressful enough around here. We certainly don't want our king and queen to be squabbling over Brooke's unborn prince, do we?

Stephanie: Let's not go there.

Sally: Oh, come on, why not? What is the point of working in a family business if you're not in on the family gossip?

Stephanie: You're right.

Sally: So, come on, give. Come on, there's gotta be something scandalous happening around here.

Stephanie: Rumor has it that Eric Forrester is going into business with Sally Spectra.

Sally: Oh, shocking.

Stephanie: Yes.

Sally: Shocking!

Stephanie: Yes.

Sally: I got one better. I hear that Eric Forrester is showing an awful lot of interest in his ex-wife, the first Mrs. Forrester. I even heard that he spent a couple of nights back at the old homestead. Is it possible that that flame is being reignited?

Stephanie: Just friends.

Sally: No romance, huh?

Stephanie: Would I tell you if there was?

Sally: I have just one question then. What is Eric waiting for, hmm?

                        **************************************************************************

Eric: Jackie, hi. May I join you?

Jackie: Oh, Eric, hello. Yeah, please do.

Eric: Jason, I'll have what the lady's having.

Jackie: It's grapefruit juice.

Eric: Put some vodka in that, will you?

Jackie: You heard about Ridge and Brooke.

Eric: Yeah. Yeah, I did. Stephanie told me.

Jackie: If you'd rather not discuss it --

Eric: No, no. No, I'm -- I'm glad to have someone to talk to.

Jackie: You can't talk to Stephanie about it?

Eric: About how this is going to affect Ridge and the family? Absolutely.

Jackie: But not --

Eric: Thank you.

Jackie: -- How it's affecting you?

Eric: No. I know it's very self-involved to -- well, to just talk about how it's affecting me.

Jackie: It's not. You are involved, Eric. You still think of Ridge as your son. I mean, this child could have been your grandchild.

Eric: I've missed this.

Jackie: What?

Eric: Talking to you.

Jackie: Me, too.

Eric: When we were sharing the beach house, it was my favorite part of the day.

Jackie: Have you spoken to Ridge today?

Eric: Hmm-hm. No, and I don't expect to.

Jackie: Oh, my. What he must be going through, I just --

Eric: It's an entirely different situation for your son.

Jackie: Nick isn't enjoying this.

Eric: No, of course not, I didn't mean --

Jackie: No, what you meant was that Nick might be able to raise this child with Brooke.

Eric: Yeah.

Jackie: You know, I hate to admit it, but I really do hope that that's how this story ends. It wouldn't make what's happened to Ridge and Brooke any less tragic.

Eric: No. I'm not really in the mood for this drink. I'm going to go down to the beach, take a walk, clear my head. Come with me.

Jackie: Um -- I don't think that would be appropriate.

Eric: It's just a walk.

Jackie: Yeah, and I'm just a married woman who happens to be married to a very jealous man.

Eric: Jackie, you're perfectly capable of making you're own decisions.

Jackie: I think I just have.

Eric: Touche.

Jackie: It's a very tempting offer, though.

Eric: Well, then I'll make it again someday.

                        *********************************************************************

Nick: I don't blame you for hating me.

Ridge: Hate doesn't begin to describe what I'm feeling right now, Nick.

Nick: Do what you have to do, Forrester. You want to hit me again, go ahead and hit me.

Ridge: Oh, right, I vent, and you walk away with a clear conscience? Forget about it.

Nick: I'm not walking away.

Ridge: Yeah, why would you? Brooke's gotta come back eventually, doesn't she? You think you can take my place in her life?

Nick: No.

Ridge: No, you can't. You wouldn't begin to know what Brooke needs. If you did, she wouldn't have left. You couldn't give up your claim on your child, could you, Nick? As much as Brooke begged you to do it, you just said no. And then I had to step in, you know that? As much as it killed me, I had to be the one to let her go, because that's what she asked me to do. You put her in that position, Nick. You can forget about a future with Brooke. You and Brooke living happily ever after, bouncing little Junior on your knee, it's not gonna happen. You hear me? It's not gonna happen. Get out of here.

Nick: Okay, I'm going.

Ridge: Get out of here now! Get out of here!

                        ************************************************************************

Eric: Massimo, you just missed your wife.

Massimo: I didn't miss a thing.

Eric: Well, if you'll excuse me --

Massimo: No, I won't. I saw you, the way you were pawing at her. How dare you? Jacqueline is my wife. She is a Marone.

Eric: She's a woman who doesn't need to be spied on by her husband.

Massimo: Stay away from her, Eric.

Eric: You don't trust her?

Massimo: I don't trust you.

Eric: You're sounding very insecure for a newlywed.

Massimo: Don't condescend to me, Eric. You have no idea who you're dealing with.

Eric: Maybe Jackie doesn't either. What would she think if she heard you talking to me this way?

Massimo: Her feelings are no concern of yours.

Eric: Well, they're obviously no concern of yours either the way you treat her like a piece of property.

Massimo: I'm warning you, Eric.

Eric: You can't do anything to me.

Massimo: Leave Jacqueline alone, I won't have to.

Eric: Jackie can choose who she wants to spend time with.

Massimo: She already has.

Eric: Things change.

Massimo: Don't start this with me, Forrester. You try to take something of mine, I guarantee I'll take something of yours.
