Brooke: Don't say it, Ridge. I know I've disappointed you. I've let you down. I've let us both down.

Ridge: Oh, Logan --

Brooke: It's true. You've given me so much -- times that I'll cherish for the rest of my life. But I always wind up hurting you. Hurting both of us. And it's -- it's just got to stop. Now.

                        **********************************************************************

Amber: Don't freak out. It's just little old me.

Oscar: What are you doing here? How'd you get in?

Amber: Your landlord. See, I sweet talked him.

Oscar: Really? Well, don't do it again, all right? See, I don't like surprises.

Amber: Yeah, especially after the one you got earlier, huh? 'Bout Deacon -- asking Bridget to marry him, it just -- or at least that was the plan, his plan when I left. You must really be bummed.

Oscar: Guess again.

Amber: Look, you don't have to be all macho about it. I mean, it's a kick in the gut, or it's got to be. I mean, losing the girl, especially to her ex.

Oscar: I didn't lose the girl. I beat Sharpe to the punch.

Amber: What?

Oscar: I asked Bridget to marry me. She said yes. Me and Bridget are engaged.

                        *******************************************************************

Bridget: That's kind of what I want to talk to you about, Deacon.

Deacon: Why you're not wearing your ring.

Bridget: Look, I know you haven't been out of surgery that long, but --

Deacon: No, hey, I'm doing great. Hell, I'm doing better than great. I got feeling in my foot. I mean, I'm sorry. It's just I got all this emotion.

Bridget: I know. I know. I know. You have a lot to be thankful for.

Deacon: Yeah, and you're at the top of that list. Bridget, what's -- what's wrong? What -- what's going on? Okay. Okay, I think I get it. You're not wearing the ring because you don't want to upset him.

Bridget: Upset who?

Deacon: Your father. You don't want him to know how serious things are between us, right?

                        **********************************************************************

Megan: Can I get you anything?

Eric: I could use a good, stiff drink.

Megan: Just one?

Eric: Yeah, just one. But fix two. Join me.

Megan: Okay, I will. Been that kind of day, huh?

Eric: Megan, it's been that kind of day for about six weeks now.

Megan: That's for sure. What can I do to make it better?

Eric: You're doing it. You're still here. Brooke is gone. Ridge is gone. The company has completely changed, and you're still here. I'm very grateful, Megan, for your -- your concern and your loyalty. Thank you.

Megan: You're welcome.

Eric: And for keeping Sally Spectra at bay.

Megan: Cheers to that. Do you think she's heard the results by now?

Eric: I don't know. I don't care. It's Ridge and Brooke I'm concerned about now. Oh, they've come so far, worked so hard for everything they've accomplished and now -- how could this not tear their marriage apart?

                        ********************************************************************

Ridge: What are you doing?

Brooke: I've put you through so much already. The sooner I leave, the sooner you can get on with your life.

Ridge: No. No, no, no, no, Logan. Look, there's something you need to know about us and our future.

Brooke: There is no future. I'm sorry, Ridge. I'm sorry for the pain that you're in and the life that we're not going to get back because of me, because of what I did. And I let you down again, even worse this time. Oh, god, no wonder you're ashamed of me. I'm ashamed of myself.

Ridge: I'm not ashamed of you, Logan. I'm in love with you. And somehow -- somehow, we're gonna get through this. And we're gonna get through it together, do you hear me?

            ****************************************************************************

Amber: Uh -- I don't get it. I mean, you and Bridget --

Oscar: Gettin' hitched.

Amber: But I saw the ring and how excited Deacon was. I mean, he was hell bent on proposing.

Oscar: Yeah, tell me about it. He had that ring on her finger before she knew what was happening.

Amber: Wait, wait, wait. You're telling me that she didn't stop him? Even after she had already said yes to you?

Oscar: Look -- he caught her by surprise. All right? And besides, she didn't want to turn him down right before he went into surgery and -- I don't need to explain this to you. She's over there clearing the whole thing up now.

Amber: Hmm, right. Keep telling yourself that.

Oscar: What's that mean?

Amber: It means that inside that big heart everyone claims that Bridget's got, there's more going on than sympathy for her ex.

Oscar: You don't know what you're talking about.

Amber: Fine, fine, keep burying your head, but if Bridget and Deacon had a chance to sort through their baggage, I'm betting they'd have something pretty special.

Oscar: Really? Well, then it's a good thing you're not a bookie, because your instincts suck.

Amber: Hmm, or so you'd like to believe, but I'm telling you --

Oscar: No, no, Amber! I'm telling you. Bridget is not over there sorting things out with deacon, all right? She's there telling him that she's getting married to me, yours truly. And she's giving him his ring back that she never wanted in the first place, okay? That's it. It's that simple. End of story.

                        ****************************************************************************

Bridget: You know, I really wish you wouldn't do that.

Deacon: Do what?

Bridget: Just assume you know what I'm feeling here, because you don't. Not about this. Deacon, I really -- I mean, I never expected you to propose.

Deacon: I know, but I mean, now that I have, you know -- look, it's gonna take a while for your family to get used to the idea. Especially your dad.

Bridget: And time just heals everything, is that it? You know what? It doesn't. And it never will when it comes to how my father feels about you.

Deacon: Well, he's gonna have to deal. I mean, what choice does he have?

Bridget: Whoa, whoa, what choice does he have?

Deacon: I just --

Bridget: No, I'm -- is he just supposed to forget everything you put me through and -- and give you his blessing because that's what you want?

Deacon: I know that it's gonna be difficult for him in the beginning. And for your mom -- I know how much I hurt her.

Bridget: Hurt her? Deacon, she's raising your child. A child the two -- my god, what am I doing? What -- what am I doing? After everything you put me through, what am I doing? How could I even think I ever had feelings for you again?

Deacon: You do have feelings for me! Bridget, I've seen it. I felt it. That night that we were alone before your father came in -- look, we have both been through so much in our lives. And I am not that guy anymore, and you're not that same girl.

Bridget: No, you're right. I am not. I'm not that little naive girl whose heart you broke into a million pieces. But that didn't -- that didn't stop me from getting sucked in, huh? Because I felt responsible.

Deacon: Is that what I am to you? I'm some kind of -- what? What, some kind of an obligation, is that it? Bridget, you never would have let me put that ring on your finger if you didn't have feel --

Bridget: I didn't let you! You were on your way to surgery, and I didn't want to risk -- it doesn't matter. Okay? You're crazy if you think I'd marry you after what we went through before.

Deacon: Wait, Bridget, wait, just please, I will spend the rest of my life trying to make up for what I did for you. I want to show you --

Bridget: I don't want to hear it, okay? Just, please, please, just stop it. You need to listen to me. I don't love you. How could I, deacon, after everything you put me -- you see this? This is my future. This ring, with the man I'm going to marry. And it's not you, Deacon. It's not you.

                        ***********************************************************************

Megan: I still can't believe that it turned out this way.

Eric: It's just a shock. It shocked everyone.

Megan: Well, I know, but especially for Brooke. She was so certain that --

Eric: She was so certain that Ridge was the father of the baby she was carrying. Unfortunately, the test proved otherwise.

Megan: Still, Eric, they love each other so much, if they can just hold on to that.

Eric: Yeah, but the reality is the baby that they both wanted so much to be theirs --

Megan: Is really Nick's.

Eric: Megan, how could any relationship, even one as strong as Ridge's and Brooke's -- how could it possibly survive that?

                        ****************************************************************************

Ridge: Logan? You all right? I'm not going anywhere and neither are you.

Brooke: I've put you through so much. I don't deserve a life with you.

Ridge: Hey, you don't deserve what happened today. Neither of us do.

Brooke: But this child that I'm carrying -- we were so sure it was ours.

Ridge: Listen to me. I want you to know right here and now that this is where I want to be -- right beside you, working this all through together, okay?

Brooke: But this -- I can't ask you to --

Ridge: You're not asking me anything. I'm just telling you this right now. I want to be with you. I want to be with you right here. We're gonna have this child. And we're gonna love him. Yeah, I wish with everything inside me he was mine. But I am so in love with you, Logan. I'm so in love with you. How could I not love your child?

                        *************************************************************************

Deacon: So you're gonna marry Ozzy?

Bridget: Yes.

Deacon: Why?

Bridget: Because I love him. Because I know he won't hurt me.

Deacon: The way that I did.

Bridget: You took so much from me. More than I think I even realized. And I know you're sorry, and maybe that should make it okay, but it doesn't. Because the scars are still there, and I don't know if they're ever gonna go away.

Deacon: Which is why you can't marry me. I mean, at least that's what you're saying, right?

Bridget: What does that mean?

Deacon: I am gonna get the hell out of this bed, and I am gonna walk again. And if you're worried about having a husband who's gonna be stuck in a wheelchair, that's not --

Bridget: Wait, is that how little you think of a me? You think I would turn my back on you because you're in a wheelchair? What is wrong with you? Don't you think if I really loved you, if I really wanted to marry you, it wouldn't make a difference if you ever walked again?

Deacon: I'm sorry. I'm sorry. Okay, you're right. I'm sorry. I'm just -- I'm trying to make this better, and I'm just making in worse. Bridget, I honestly thought that we were past this. I never would've proposed to you so soon, but I love you. You know, you coming in here and bringing some other guy's ring and waving it around in my face 'cause that's the only reason you think that you could get through to me -- I got to tell you, you know, getting shot down like that -- that hurts like hell.

Bridget: Deacon, I didn't --

Deacon: It's okay. I know, shh. I know. I just -- I just want a chance. Please don't walk out that room without at least letting me know that I get a second chance.

                        *****************************************************************************

Megan: Any idea where ridge went?

Eric: No, he just walked out on Brooke at the doctor's office.

Megan: I know how hard this hit him. Eric, maybe in time -- I know. I just hate to think that this is the end of ridge and Brooke.

Eric: I'd hate to think that, too. But I have to be honest with you. I'd be very surprised if it's not.

                        **********************************************************************************

Brooke: You make it sound so simple.

Ridge: No, there's nothing simple about any of this.

Brooke: You really believe we can make it work?

Ridge: Because I believe in us.

Brooke: It just seems so unfair. The sacrifice that you would have to make. It's tears me up inside to think what you would be giving up.

Ridge: I've never claimed to be a saint. And I'm not gonna pretend that I'm not hurt and angry, because I am. But you didn't deceive me, Logan. You didn't deceive me, and I know this is not your fault. This is not your fault.

Brooke: I can't believe you're accepting this. You're really forgiving me. Why?

Ridge: You really don't know?

Brooke: I know that I've never loved you more than I do at this very moment.

Ridge: That's what it's about, isn't it? Your love for me and my love for you. And our ability to work through anything that comes at us, Logan, anything at all. I see this as a big test, as a test of our commitment to each other. No, we're not gonna have a child of our own. But a child is coming into our lives. It's gonna mean a lot of adjustments. And we're gonna make all of those adjustments our way. We're gonna make them together. Because for me, there is no life without you. And until the day, I die I'm gonna love you, Brooke Logan Forrester. And if the world wants to put that up for a test to me or a test to you, then I say bring it on. Because our love is gonna survive. It's gonna survive no matter what.
