[Knock on door]

Bridget: Come in.

Samantha: Hey there. Is this a good time?

Bridget: Hey you. Absolutely, come on in. You want some tea?

Samantha: Oh, I would love some. Well, you are in a super mood.

Bridget: Yes, I am.

Samantha: I know your dad laid into you a little bit last night at dinner. You're not upset?

Bridget: Nope, not anymore. Not anymore? Since when?

Bridget: Well, since Ozzy proposed.

Samantha: Proposed? Marriage?

Bridget: Yes. No --

Bridget: I'm engaged.

Samantha: Ah, well, this is -- it's very, ah --

Bridget: Ah, unexpected?

Samantha: Yeah.

Bridget: Yeah, I know, I know. I was -- I was surprised, too.

Samantha: You hadn't even talked about it?

Bridget: Uh-uh. No, it was completely unexpected. I mean, we were out on the terrace, and he just whips out a ring.

Samantha: Well, you're not wearing it? Where is it? Let me see.

Bridget: Oh, I know, I know, it's too big. I have to get it sized. Oh, look at it, look at it. Oh, my god.

Samantha: Oh, oh, it's lovely.

Bridget: Thank you. He had it in his pocket all night.

Samantha: Do your parents know?

Bridget: No. No, I can't wait to tell them. It's just -- there's a small problem. I don't know how I'm going to tell Deacon.

Darla: Hey, babe.

Deacon: How are ya?

Darla: Good. Sally tells me you're having another surgery tonight?

Deacon: Yep.

Darla: Yeah? Feeling good about it?

Deacon: I feel great.

Darla: Yeah?

Deacon: Yeah.

Darla: So this gonna be the one, huh? Get ya back on your feet?

Deacon: Well, it's -- it's a long shot, but you know what, it's better than no shot at all. The way things have been going, I kind of feel like I've got some luck on my side.

Darla: No offense here, Deacon, but the last month has kind of been a nightmare for you.

Deacon: Well, you know, you gotta walk through the darkness to get to the light, right?

Darla: Sure.

Deacon: You know, but I feel very blessed with the people I have in my life right now. I've got my son. I've got you. I got sally. I got Bridget.

Darla: Yeah, she's really stuck by you, hasn't she?

Deacon: Yeah, it's been amazing.

Darla: She's a good person.

Deacon: She is. Listen, I want to tell you something, but let me explain it before you jump in, okay?

Darla: It's not bad, is it?

Deacon: No, it's incredible, actually. I'm gonna ask Bridget to marry me today.

Nick: Hi.

Brooke: Nick.

Nick: How are you?

Brooke: Fine.

Nick: Is there any news?

Brooke: No, not yet.

Nick: Something weird happened that I want to talk to you about. Um -- sally -- I ran into her and -- I don't know, it kinda feels like she's up to something.

Brooke: Sally's always up to something. Scheming to get her company back. Blackmail, extortion.

Nick: Well, no, no, no, this involves me. You know that bar I go to, Chuck's?

Brooke: She came to see you?

Nick: No, didn't really come to see me, she was already there. She was with somebody.

Brooke: Why? Who?

Nick: I don't know why, and I don't really know who, some nerdy looking guy that had a laptop open. The point is the guy took off and she -- she asked me about the tests. She said how lucky I was and that I'd be a great father.

Brooke: She's probably just trying to psych you out.

Nick: What does that mean? Psych me out? Why would she do that?

Brooke: To stir up trouble. That's what Sally does best.

Nick: You think that's all it is?

Brooke: I think that's all it is.

Nick: You're not worried at all?

Brooke: Why should I be? Ridge has forgiven me, and Stephanie has agreed to back off. There's nothing else that Sally can do.

Sally: Oh, I didn't know anybody was in here. Is this where you process lab results?

Chip: That's what it says on the door.

Sally: Thank you. Thank you for telling me I'm in the right place.

Samantha: What do you mean, you don't know how to tell Deacon?

Bridget: I mean, I've been there for him since the shooting, and I just don't want him to think that's gonna change. You're worried about his feelings?

Bridget: He's very vulnerable right now.

Samantha: Well, so are you. All this time that you've been spending together, helping him deal with his paralysis, it's been intense.

Bridget: Yeah. That's why I'm concerned. I don't want him to think I've abandoned him, you know?

Stephanie: Bridget, I know that you're sympathetic to Deacon --

Bridget: He's paralyzed because of my father.

Samantha: And that's all there is to it?

Bridget: Yes, of course. Sam, Ozzy and I are engaged. We love each other.

Smantha: Bridget, look I don't mean to put you on the defensive.

Bridget: Deacon may never walk again. And now the one person he thought he could count on is getting married. He needs something to believe in. A reason to keep fighting, and right now, Sam, I'm it.

Samantha: Well, then you should help him find something else to believe in.

Bridget: I know. I know, I will. And I am gonna tell him. When?

Bridget: Now. I'm going to the hospital.

Chip: You don't work in this department.

Sally: I'm with I.T. Somebody called over there and said you got a kinda hinky terminal over here.

Chip: Ah -- must be that one.

Sally: Ah, hey, don't mind me. I'll just get right to it, and I'll be in and out so fast, you won't even know I was in here.

Lab tech: You need to input this one now.

Chip: You didn't have to bring it down, you could've just flagged it.

Lab tech: High priority, rapid turn-around. Standard CVS results. Extra fields for sex and paternity. DNA tests on two subjects. Subject A.

Chip: R. Forrester.

Lab tech: Subject B, N. Payne.

Chip: Results were conclusive?

Lab tech: No doubt about it.

Chip: Okey-dokey -- that's it.

Lab tech: What, you put a rush on it?

Chip: It'll take a few minutes to update the database.

Lab tech: I heard they've got donuts in the breakroom.

Chip: Oh, I'm there.

Lab tech: All right.

Chip: You ah -- want something?

Sally: No thank you . I got everything I need right here.

Darla: You're gonna propose to Bridget?

Deacon: I know this seems like it's really fast.

Darla: You're in love with her?

Deacon: You know how much I loved Macy. I mean, with all my heart. Losing Macy taught me that this life is fragile. It's unpredictable, and you find somebody that you connect with, man, you jump in with two feet. If Macy hadn't taught me what it really feels like to be in love -- I might not have ever found it again. I do love Bridget. I know that with every fiber in my body.

Darla: Well, I'm glad you're happy, Deacon.

Deacon: But are you happy for me?

Darla: Yeah, I am. I think Macey would be, too.

Deacon: Thank you.

Darla: So, when are you going to do it?

Deacon: I'm gonna ask her right before I go into surgery. And then I'm gonna get up out of this bed, and I'm gonna walk my bride down the aisle.

Darla: You do that. Congratulations.

Deacon: Thank you.

Darla: Oh, it's great.

Nick: You know the people involved a lot more than I do, so if you say there's nothing to worry about I'm not gonna worry about it.

Brooke: Good. Thanks for keeping an eye out. You've been great about all of this. Ridge, the test. I know it hasn't been easy.

Nick: It hasn't been easy for any of us.

Brooke: But eventually Ridge will realize that you don't want to cause trouble. You want this baby to be his as much as we do.

Nick: Is that what you really think I want?

Brooke: It's not?

Nick: No. No, it's not.

Sally: All right, let's go. I hope I can remember everything the great Marvin taught me. Because that means that with a few clandestine strokes, Brooke Logan Forrester is gonna lose her precious Ridge and she is gonna suffer the same kind of feeling that she caused all the rest of us to feel. Like me and Stephanie and Macy and just about everybody else she ever had contact with. She is going to feel pain. That's interesting. "Pain," as in nick Payne. For better or worse.

Oscar: Bridget? Yo!

Samantha: Hey, oz, Bridget will be back soon. Congratulations on your engagement.

Oscar: Yeah, thanks. She told you, huh?

Samantha: Yeah, you really swept her off her feet.

Oscar: That was the idea.

Samantha: I guess you're pretty excited, huh?

Oscar: Yeah. So where is she? Tellin' her parent?

Samantha: Ah -- she went to the hospital. She wanted deacon to hear it from her.

Bridget: Hey.

Deacon: Hey.

Bridget: I saw Darla in the hall.

Deacon: Yeah, she came down to wish me good luck.

Bridget: Yeah. Going down for your surgery soon?

Deacon: Yep.

Bridget: Nervous?

Deacon: A little bit, but I think as I've got you next to me, I'll be able to get through it. I'm gonna -- I'm gonna get my life back. I'm gonna get my legs back. I'm gonna get my future back. It's all because of you.

Bridget: Hey, don't sell yourself short.

Deacon: I'm just calling it like I see it. Giving credit where credit's due.

Bridget: I have to tell you something.

Deacon: Okay, wait. Let me say something first, okay? I want you to know that it's because of you that I've had the strength to get through this.

Bridget: No, Deacon.

Deacon: Yes, it is.

Bridget: No, it's you. Do you have any idea how strong you are? Or how many people care about you? Deacon, we all want to see you get better. We all have faith in you. And -- we're all gonna be here, but you need to have faith in yourself.

Deacon: You know what, I do. More now, than I think I ever have in my life.

Oscar: All right, she wants to tell Deacon before her parents?

Samantha: She didn't want Deacon to feel abandoned.

Oscar: Why? Samantha, come on, I know what's goin' on here. He's still got feelings for her --

Samantha: But she loves you, and she's marrying you. She just didn't want him to hear it from someone else. I mean, you're engaged to a Forrester, now. News like that travels pretty fast.

Oscar: All right, fine, I get that, she feels sorry for him, right?

Samantha: Yeah, well, who doesn't? I mean, considering everything that's happened to him.

Oscar: The trouble is he's confusing her sympathy for something else.

Stephanie: Deacon's just confused.

Oscar: Yeah, that may be. Bridget, she's sometimes too nice for her own good. You know, she just don't want to hurt him, right?

Samantha: She doesn't have a whole lot of choice, now. When she tells him that you're engaged, it's gonna be a pretty big blow for him.

Bridget: So, you're feeling confident about the surgery?

Deacon: I'm feeling confident about my whole damn life. I'm done holding back. I think I finally get it that I deserve to be happy.

Bridget: Yeah, you do.

Deacon: You know, but I can't just sit and wait for it to happen. I gotta make a move.

Bridget: I think you can do anything you set your mind to. It doesn't matter what happens today. You can accomplish anything you want.

Deacon: What if I want you?

Bridget: That's kinda what I needed to talk to you about.

Deacon: I mean, listen, I know that it's crazy, right. A couple months ago, you still hated my guts, and I don't blame you. For the way I treated you, Bridget.

Bridget: We're past -- we're past that.

Deacon: And you could've written me off, like your father did, but you know what? You didn't.

Bridget: I care about you.

Deacon: I want you to know how much I care about you.

Bridget: Deacon, we're friends. We're always gonna be friends, but we --

Deacon: You told me -- you told me that I could do anything, and I believe you. If I have you by my side. Bridget, I love you.

Bridget: You're making this really tough on me.

Deacon: Bridget, I love you, and I want you to be my wife.

Brooke: You want to be the father of my baby? Is that what you're saying?

Nick: No. I want something even more than that. You see, I want something that I can't have.

Brooke: Nick.

Nick: But you can have it. You do have it. You have all those wonderful things with Forrester, and you deserve it.

Brooke: We all deserve it, family, friends. That's what matters. All this drama and the tension, it's -- we have to find a way to get past all of this.

Nick: Yeah, it's gonna be a little tough if those test results don't turn out the way that you want them to.

Brooke: You know what I want? I want this child to be healthy. I want it to grow up surrounded by love, to bring the family together, the whole family. But most of all, I want to do what's right. I want to raise this baby with his father.

Nick: Well, we just better hope Forrester's the father.

Sally: Oh, Marvin, you genius. You are the king of the hackers. I'm in, I'm in. I'm through the back door and into the database, yes! Now, let's bring up the results of the paternity test. Who's it gonna be, Brooke, my darling? Is it going to be, bachelor number one, the glamorous sea captain? Or is it going to be Ridge, husband number -- I don't know. Well, if it turns out to be you, Ridge, all I have to do is a little presto-chango work on a couple of keys, and that'll fix that. And if it turns out to be you, Captain Payne, I won't have to do anything at all. Come on, come on, come on, baby. Show me the money. Come on, show me the --

Chip: Hey! Stop that! What are you doing?
