Ridge: Sweetheart, I'm so sorry.

Brooke: You're sorry?

Ridge: For not realizing until now how traumatized you were by everything that happened in Puerto Vista -- Logan, listen to me. What you and Nick did wasn't terrible. It was heroic.

Brooke: No -- no, Ridge, it wasn't heroic. It was wrong. And it shouldn't have happened. It never should have happened.

Oscar: Is there some reason you're doing this?

Amber: Doing what? Hmm?

Oscar: Circling me like a moon in orbit.

Amber: Oh, that. I am -- I'm trying to be hypnotic.

Oscar: Is that what that is? So you're tryin' to put me into some kind of trance?

Amber: Mm-hmm. Well, I wanna make sure you say yes.

Oscar: Oh, well, I'm gonna have to know what I'm saying yes to, first.

Amber: Oh, my offer, remember?

Oscar: Right, oh -- being head of promotions for this new design company that you're so amped up about, right?

Amber: Mm, that, too.

Oscar: Oh, I see, so -- there's another position available?

Amber: Mm-hmm.

Oscar: Do I have the qualifications?

Amber: And then some.

Oscar: Really? How do you know that?

Amber: I've taken a shower with you, remember? I've seen your qualifications. So, what do you say we start from there? Hmm?

Oscar: What do you say you just stay still for two seconds?

Amber: Better?

[Oscar clears throat]

Oscar: Amber --

Amber: Okay, okay. I know Iím not the only moon in your orbit. But I will be soon. Sooner than you and Bridget think.

[Knock on door]

Deacon: Hi --

Bridget: Hey.

Deacon: Look, I know it's late, but this couldn't wait. I have to talk about --

Bridget: What's wrong?

Deacon: You're studying --

Bridget: No, it's fine, just tell me why you're here.

Deacon: Okay, condensed version? I'm starting a new fashion house with Sally and Amber. I want you to be a part of it.

Bridget: What?

Deacon: I know, I know. This is a huge challenge. But you know me, I'm always up for a challenge. You are too. What do you say? You with me?

Bridget: Condensed version? No way.

Deacon: Okay.

Ridge: Sweetheart, you're pregnant. It's not good for you or the baby to be this upset.

Brooke: Ridge, you don't understand.

Ridge: Well, I think I do.

Brooke: No, you don't. You couldn't. This is about Nick and me.

Ridge: Now, we've talked about all this.

[Doorbell rings] who could that be at this hour? Nick. It's kind of late.

Brooke: Nick, this really isn't a good time.

Ridge: Actually, Brooke, I think it is. I think I know why Nick's here. You're worried about Brooke, too, aren't you?

Nick: How'd you know?

Ridge: I didn't realize until tonight just how much guilt this incredible woman has been carrying around.

Nick: Yeah. A lot of guilt.

Ridge: Over everything that happened in the foundry. Sweetheart, when I went into those flames trying to save you from Sheila, that was not your fault. That was Sheila's. But that's all done now. That's all over with. We're here, we're together, we're safe. And I think we all need to just spend some time trying to forget what happened in the foundry and move on.

[Phone rings] oh, for god's sake. Someone's timing is very bad. Hello? Yeah, I have those figures in my study. Okay. Hey, Dario? Dario, you're breaking up. I'll call you back on the other phone, okay? All right. I'm sorry. This is only going to take a minute. You -- don't go away.

Oscar: You're running low on confidence, aren't you?

Amber: Hey, I know what I know.

Oscar: Which is?

Amber: "A," you're wasting your time on Bridget. And "b," she's never gonna be enough for you.

Oscar: And you are?

Amber: Mm, absolutely.

Oscar: Why, because we're so compatible?

Amber: Well, we made a great team at the club, didn't we?

Oscar: Yeah, well -- and that's why you want me to work with you in your company, right? Because we work so well together?

Amber: It's a lot more than that. You get me, I get you.

Oscar: Meaning what? We -- we think alike?

Amber: Yeah.

Oscar: Scary.

Amber: You wanna know what's scary? Somebody like you mooning over Bridget when I'm around.

Oscar: There it is again. That overwhelming lack of confidence.

Amber: I'm just saying -- give the two of us a chance and you'll never know how far we can go.

Oscar: In business.

Amber: That too.

Oscar: I think we better call it a night.

Amber: Afraid of what'll happen if we do?

Oscar: I'll get back to you about your offer.

Amber: Cool. As long as you say yes. Oh, and Oz? When you're tired of being good, give me a call.

Oscar: Hmm.

Deacon: Aw, gee, Bridget -- I mean, don't hold back or anything. Let me know how you really feel.

Bridget: Oh, come on. Deacon, you can't possibly expect me to jump at this.

Deacon: Are you kidding? This would be a fantastic opportunity.

Bridget: Maybe for you. But the thought of getting back into modeling at this point in my life is completely --

Deacon: Wait, wait -- wait a second. Wait, wait, wait. Nobody said anything about modeling. I mean, I don't want you on some runway.

Bridget: Well, it's not going to happen, so you might as well just forget it.

Deacon: Bridget, I'm talking about a managerial position here, all right? It never even occurred to me to think of you as a model. Look, you're smart, you're -- you're intuitive. You'd be a huge asset.

Bridget: Are you forgetting something?

Deacon: What?

Bridget: I'm in med school. And even if I did want to get back into the fashion industry, it would be for my Dad.

Deacon: Yeah, that -- that did kind of occur to me. But I figured, what the hell -- take a shot, right?

Bridget: Mm-hmm. So that's it?

Deacon: I don't know, maybe -- I kinda wanted you to know that I'm trying to make something out of my life. Is that -- is that a bad thing?

Nick: Well, I'm glad I got here when I did.

Brooke: I wish you hadn't.

Nick: Listen to me --

Brooke: No, Nick, I'm going to tell him. I have to be honest with my husband.

Nick: You're protecting what you have with your husband!

Brooke: My god, do you know how that sounds?

Nick: I know what's gonna happen if you tell him. You're gonna tear this family apart. This family that came together tonight! Now, can you live with that?

Brooke: As opposed to what? Living with this deception? Always having this between ridge and me? You're putting me in an impossible situation. Don't you realize that?

Jackie: Nick has changed his mind about leaving town again.

Massimo: Really? He's staying?

Jackie: I knew you'd be pleased.

Massimo: Oh, pleased? I am delighted. Marone industries can use him, I can use him. Though I am curious --

Jackie: Why the sudden change of heart?

Massimo: I assume it's because of his feelings for Brooke. But, I mean -- he's gotten through that and he's moving on.

Jackie: He wants Ridge and Brooke to be happy. Nothing's more important to him.

Massimo: You think that's why he went over there now? I mean, to tell them that?

Jackie: Amongst other things.

Massimo: Well, I'm delighted that the three of them can work it out. And if Dominick finds a woman of his own -- well, starts a family soon, so much the better. Hmm?

Nick: I hate what this is doing to you.

Brooke: I have to tell him.

Nick: And do what? What, and just ruin everything that you guys have together? Everything that you've hoped for? What if it turns out to be his -- his child? Don't you want to spare him the pain of knowing what happened that night?

Brooke: Of course I do.

Nick: Well, then listen to me! Just hear me out. There's a test that can be taken in the early stages of pregnancy. Then you'll know. And if it turns out to be ridge's child, he never has to know what happened between us.

Brooke: Right. And go on deceiving my husband?

Nick: I know how hard it is, but --

Brooke: But what? Think about what'll happen if I don't. My god, Nick, that's all I think about. If I lost him --

Nick: Shh, shh, shh. Come on. Come on. Don't talk like that. That's not gonna happen. Now, we're gonna get through this together, okay? You gotta hang in there. But telling Ridge the truth is not the answer. I know how much you love him. And I know how much you hate deceiving him. I hate it, too, but -- but just think about what he'd go through, how happy he is about this child. Don't you want to keep from hurting him? If we tell him -- why would we do that to him?

Ridge: Do what to me? All right, you two, what's going on here?

Bridget: Why do you even care how I feel?

Deacon: Why do you care why I care?

Bridget: I care about a lot of things.

Deacon: I know. I know. You've probably got the biggest heart of anyone that I've ever met. And I'm not just saying that to butter you up.

Bridget: So why are you saying it?

Deacon: Honestly? When I got this good news, you were the first person that I thought of. I wanted to come right over here and share it with you. If that makes me a chump, or --

Bridget: No, no. No, it does make me wonder why you're jumping into this new venture so suddenly.

Deacon: You know me. I jump in with both feet, don't look back.

Bridget: You sure there's not more to it? Oh, yes. Yes, see. I know that look. Okay, come on. Out with it.

Deacon: All right, I'm probably doing this for sally. You know, Bridget, spectra was everything that she had. I mean, this woman put her heart and her soul into it. Now it's gone, she's got nowhere to go.

Bridget: And you want to change that.

Deacon: I probably need something, too. I mean, after everything that happened -- you know, with macy. But not just with Macy -- I mean, with Brooke. With you.

Bridget: Deacon --

Deacon: I don't think that I ever really apologized to you, did I? I don't think I ever told you how sorry I really am for everything that happened. And I hope you believe me, because I've never meant anything more in my life.

[Phone rings]

[Bridget on answering machine]

Bridget: Hey, it's me.

Leave a message and I'll

get back to you.

Oscar: Hey, you.

I guess you're already

in bed, so I'll make

this short and sweet. You know that promise you made me, about well, you know, about how you'd be worth waiting for. Well, I just called to tell you that I'm going to hold you to it.

Sweet dreams, gorgeous.

[Answering machine beeps ]

Bridget: Don't --

Deacon: No, I'm not -- I'm not saying a word, okay? No lectures. I just don't want to see you make the same mistake again.

Bridget: I don't intend to.

Deacon: He's a kid, Bridget. The guy has no idea what he's doing, where he's going. I just don't think that's what you need right now.

Bridget: Okay, Mr. No lectures, you think you know me so well. What do I need?

Deacon: I don't know. That's for you to figure out. But I do know that I don't think anybody in this world, anybody, is good enough for you.

Massimo: Well, my beguiling bride, enough with our sons. Tonight is our wedding night. If there are any lovers in mind, it should be us.

Nick: What do you mean "what's going on"? Haven't we been through this? This is your wife, I'm the one --

Ridge: Hey, captain, captain. Don't get your rudder in an uproar. Listen, you two, I just wanted to say that I know that both of you went through something very significant when you thought I had died, something that you still haven't opened up to me about. But I think I know why. You're still trying to protect me, aren't you?

Nick: What are we protecting you from?

Ridge: The truth of what really happened during that time. I can't even begin to imagine all the things the two of you must have been feeling back then. But I'm damn glad you were there for my wife, little brother.

Nick: Well, don't put any hero tag on me, 'cause I don't deserve it.

Ridge: Well, maybe not in your eyes, but --

Nick: Well, let's just say a lot's gone on, right? A lot's happened. And nobody respects what you two have more than me.

Ridge: I believe you really mean that.

Nick: I want the two of you to be happy. And I've thought a lot about it, so I'm gonna stick around town for a while and sort of root you on. How about that?

Ridge: Is this guy something else or what, huh? Is he something else? Look, I'm not gonna get all mushy here, but I am glad you're sticking around. For selfish reasons, of course.

Nick: Really?

Ridge: Yeah. I want you to be a part of our life, nick -- and our little baby's life. I also hope that someday you'll find a woman to love as much as I love this one right here. Tonight I saw the way things could be, that party -- the Marone family, all together. I really want that.

Nick: Me, too.

Ridge: So, the idea of being an uncle, that's okay with you?

Nick: Absolutely.

Ridge: Good, then that's what you're gonna be -- Uncle Nick. Nothing's gonna change that.
