Banker: $10 million in gold, exactly as you ordered.

Massimo: All right, fine. Put it over there, please.

Banker: You've done a lot of business with me, Massimo, but I never expected an order this big or this quickly.

Massimo: Yeah. Did you receive the payment I wired?

Banker: Yes.

Massimo: Okay, then, good. We are finished.

Banker: It's strange that they'd ask for gold. It's stamped with serial numbers.

Massimo: Yeah, well, that's their problem.

Banker: Well, at least we could trace it.

Massimo: No.

Banker: I came with an armed guard. He could stay with you.

Massimo: No, no, no, no. That's not necessary, thank you.

Banker: Are you sure?

Nick: We're good. Appreciate you coming through on such short notice. We'll be in touch.

Brooke: So we have the ransom. Now what?

Massimo: We wait until the kidnappers contact us. And hope and pray they have not harmed Ridge.

                        *****************************************************************************************

Toro: Hey.

[Ridge groans]

Toro: just making sure that you're still alive.

Ridge: No thanks to you.

Toro: If I wanted you dead, you would be.

Ridge: You have to keep me alive.

Toro: For now.

Ridge: I'm worth nothing to you dead.

Toro: Once I get what I want from your father, you're not worth anything to me -- period.

Anna: Toro. I brought food.

Toro: What took you so long?

Anna: They had to cook it. You'd better eat it before it gets cold.

Toro: Amigos --

Anna: I brought you something, too.

Ridge: A last meal?

Anna: A hot meal. Do you want it or not?

Ridge: Thank you. How's it looking?

Anna: It's red -- your blood. I was sure it'd be blue.

Ridge: I've been taking my vitamins.

Toro: Anna, enough of that. I have a job for you.

Anna: Try not to touch it. It could get dirt in it, and it could get infected.

Ridge: And I might die? Can't have that, can we?

Toro: Here.

Anna: What's this?

Toro: Just deliver it -- same as before. Be gone. Now we'll see how much your family really wants you.

                        **************************************************************************************

Bridget: Hi.

Oscar: Yo.

Bridget: You're looking better.

Oscar: Better than what?

Bridget: Oh, he hasn't lost his sense of humor. It's a good sign.

Oscar: Yeah. What's all the racket?

Bridget: Oh, visiting hours. Kinda why I stopped by.

Oscar: Mission of mercy, huh?

Bridget: Would that be so bad?

Oscar: No, I'm fine.

Bridget: I can see that.

Oscar: So if that's the only reason you came --

Bridget: It's not.

Oscar: I knew it. You got the hots for me, don't you?

Bridget: Wow, actually, medically speaking, I think you're the one with the fever.

Oscar: Whatever. Still, you know, could be bad news, considering your taste in men. What'd a girl like you ever see in Deacon Sharpe anyway?

Bridget: So you said you knew Deacon in Vegas?

Oscar: Oh, yeah. We were even friends for a while.

Bridget: What happened?

Oscar: He was a dealer at my dad's casino.

Bridget: Oh, wait, let me guess. He couldn't keep his hand out of the till.

Oscar: Yeah, well, you know, the guy always was his own worst enemy.

Bridget: So what brought you to L.A.?

Oscar: My dad and I moved west after my mother died. My dad -- he was small time in Atlantic City but he always wanted a place of his own.

Bridget: So you grew up in Vegas?

Oscar: Not really. I mean, we moved there from jersey when I was 15. I'm telling you, sin city, USA, is a great place for a kid.

Bridget: Yeah, I'll bet.

Oscar: No, really. I mean, there's always something going on. There's always lights. It's always show time, you know? It wasn't until I got older that I realized the magic came with a price. But whatever, right? I mean, it's like my dad always said, "life's a gamble."

Bridget: Do the two of you run the casino together?

Oscar: We did. My dad -- he died last year. Yeah, so that's when the trouble started.

Bridget: Trouble?

Oscar: You know, guys wanting a piece of the action. The syndicate's been trying to take over.

Bridget: Is that who was after you the night you were brought in here? Oscar, you can't go back there.

Oscar: I got no choice.

                        ************************************************************************************

Ridge: Thanks for the food.

Toro: Thank Anna.

Ridge: I will.

Toro: Cesar, get rid of the trash. No one should know we'd been here. Don't you try anything.

Juan: How much longer?

Toro: A few more minutes, the ransom instructions will be delivered.

Juan: You think Marone will follow them?

Toro: If he knows what's good for him and his son, he will. Vaminos!

Ridge: Hey, aren't you taking me with you?

Toro: No.

Ridge: I thought this was an exchange. I thought this was an exchange!

                        ****************************************************************************************

Massimo: Damn it! Why haven't they contacted us?

Brooke: I know, it seems like they enjoy torturing us. Oh, my god, what if they're torturing Ridge?

Massimo: Yeah, well, if they are, there's no one to blame but yourself.

Nick: Massimo --

Massimo: Well, it's true. She should never have lured him away from the safety of his own home.

Brooke: Ridge and I came here to get married because of you and Stephanie. So if there's anybody to blame, Massimo, it'd be you!

Massimo: He shouldn't have married you in the first place!

Brooke: Oh, of all the self-righteous --

Nick: Whoa, whoa, whoa, stop it! Stop it. What the hell's the matter with the two of you? Fighting together's not gonna solve anything. And it certainly isn't gonna help Forrester.

Brooke: That's true.

Nick: Now we all want the same thing here. We want him back safe.

Brooke: And that's going to happen. We're going to hand over the gold, and we're going to get Ridge back.

Nick: That is gonna happen.

[Knock on door]

Massimo: Yes, yes?

Bellman: Mr. Marone, I'm sorry to disturb you. This was found by the front desk. And you said if we received anything to bring it to you right away.

[Bird squawking]

Massimo: Si, gracias. Here.

Bellman: De nada.

Massimo: "Bring the gold to pier six within the hour. Come alone." I'm going.

Nick: No, you're not.

Massimo: I'm leaving, Dominick.

Nick: Please, just listen to me on this, would you?

Massimo: Did you hear me?

Nick: This isn't a game, Massimo. These men are dangerous.

Massimo: I know that. And this has to be delivered within the hour or Ridge could get killed.

Nick: And what happens if they kill you both?

Massimo: They won't. Not as long as we do what they ask. I can't gamble on Ridge's life.

Nick: I'm trying to save it.

Massimo: This is not the way to do it, Dominick!

Brooke: How do you know, Massimo? How do you know Nick isn't right?

Massimo: We don't have time for this.

Brooke: Just hear him out.

Massimo: No, damn it! We're gonna do what they ask for. I've gotta do this alone.

Brooke: Massimo --

Massimo: Brooke, I'll call as soon as I have him.

                        *************************************************************************************

[Phone rings]

man: We're tailing

the old man.

He just left your hotel room.

We'll stay with him.

Nick: Good.

                        ************************************************************************************

Bridget: Why would you even want to go back there?

Oscar: It's my dad's place. It's all I got left of him.

Bridget: Oscar, those men tried to kill you. That doesn't sound like magic to me. And I think your dad would tell you exactly the same thing.

Oscar: Oh, no, no. What my dad would tell me is that gambling's in my blood. You know, running a casino, that's all I know.

Bridget: I don't believe that. I bet there are tons of things you could do.

Oscar: Oh, yeah? You think? Okay, doc, you wanna play true confessions. There is something I always liked to try.

Bridget: What?

Oscar: Well, you know -- running a club. I mean, you know, just a regular club. No dice, no tables, just pure entertainment. You know, that was always the best part of Vegas for me anyway.

Bridget: Okay, so why don't you do it?

Oscar: Oh, why don't I do it? That's easy to say.

Bridget: No, no. See, you're the one who said life's a gamble. So why don't you take it? You think your dad would want you getting shot at? I'm sorry, that -- I went too far.

Oscar: No. Nah, actually you gave me something to think about. It's funny, when i woke up this morning, I never imagined I'd be getting such sage advice from such a beautiful woman.

Bridget: I haven't -- I didn't tell you anything different then you've already thought about. You think I'm beautiful?

Oscar: Yeah, very. You're blushing.

Bridget: No, I'm not. Okay, I am. But I meant what I said. I have to get back to work. I'll -- I'll take the tray. By the way, don't think I'm leaving because you got to me, okay? It's just -- I'm a very important person. And I have -- I have things to do. So --

[laughter]Bridget: Don't you dare say a word.

                        *******************************************************************************************

Massimo: Buenos dias --

Toro: Where's the gold?

Massimo: Easy. In the car. This is just a sample.

Toro: Open it. Impressive. It's true, eh? Money talks.

Massimo: It'd better be telling you to give me back my son.

Toro: Gold first, then your son.

Massimo: Wrong. You don't touch this until I see Ridge.

                        *********************************************************************************

Brooke: He should've been back by now.

Nick: Hasn't been that long.

Brooke: What if you were right? What if Massimo can't handle this? What if he messes up?

Nick: That's not gonna happen. This whole thing shouldn't have happened in the first place.

Brooke: So you think this is Ridge's fault?

Nick: Brooke, I don't think Forrester has any idea what goes on outside of his little world or his little dress shop.

Brooke: Why?

Nick: Because if you've ever traveled the world, you know it's a dangerous place. You and Forrester running around down here -- I mean, it's obvious. You stand out. He's a Marone. He's a prime target. It's more my fault then anybody's. I know he didn't know anything. I'm his brother. I'm supposed to look out for him and protect him.

Brooke: Well, that's what you're doing.

Nick: Little late.

Brooke: No, it's not. You're not going to let anything happen to Ridge.

                        ***************************************************************************************

Ridge: What's going on? Why didn't they take me with them? What're they up to? You've got to tell me.

Anna: All I can tell you is your father better do as he's told.

Ridge: Is that what you do? Just like you're told? Anna, listen to me. These men are cowards. And when cowards try to prove that they're men, people get hurt. And that could be my father, it could be my wife. And that scares me. That's why I need your help.

Anna: I can't. I have to go.

Ridge: How stupid are these guys?

Anna: If your father does what he's supposed to do, everything will be fine.

Ridge: And if he doesn't?

                        ************************************************************************************

Toro: You're not in any position to be bargaining.

Massimo: No Ridge, no deal. No! No, you idiot!

Toro: Don't move, gringo.
